@@cg7240 This piece has quite some breaks where it is easy to cut. So you just have to get one sequence in one go and then use the best ones for the video. And of course the microphones have to stay in one place. It is quite impressive what you can do with professional cutting. It is possible that they did it in one take but we can't be entirely sure.
@@dman2204 no, all of my videos I create are 1 take with 3 different cameras. Mine look like garbage compared to theirs because they clearly paired with a professional recording company of sorts to get high quality equipment. This is indeed one take. The way you do this is to have around 5 cameras and 4 microphones and do one take, using editing to put them together. In editing, you line up the sound of each camera and microphone and then edit each of the perspectives to flow together.
You can’t play like this unless you really care about what you’re playing and whom your playing with. Talent aside. That’s another bag of worms. In one take, this is just good stuff.
Bennett fairall Hey Bennett! I believe Professor Burritt is using his Malletech MB8's (maybe an MB13 in his top mallet) and I'm using my Malletech IT13's with a Concerto 4 in the bass.
My teachers did this at my percussion ensemble. Words could not describe how happy I was. He’s getting moved up and he has to move to San Antonio for his upper management. In other words, he got promoted and his new promotion place is in San Antonio. This specific song will make me remember all of those happy memories of beginner band, to wind ensemble. If you’re seeing this Mr. Land, just know that you were the best percussionist teacher ever. I hope we can play Mario kart again sometime
I am a sophomore in high school and I am learning this with a close friend of mine. This past year has been really difficult for me to get through because I haven't been able to play due to tendonitis issues from over practice. I am just getting back into playing four mallet and your music has reignited my fire and passion for percussion. We can only strive to put as much meaning and beauty into this music as you two have. Thank you!
+Kodi Myles Oh, man, I know the feels. I have tendonitis and carpal tunnel on top of chronic rheumatoid arthritis and fybromyalgia. It's super cool that you're getting back into percussion, you'll have a ton of fun with this piece! :)
I think if you try hard enough, you'll be able to do it. While I haven't played this piece before, I think that if you practice a lot and get help from instructors or teachers, it shouldn't be too bad. A passion for playing will definitely help, too. I started 4 mallet grip back in September and have improved loads. I moved to a new school this year and they did a show based off this piece for spring concert season for competitions last year, and usually in percussion ensemble it only takes a few months to learn the songs. So if you keep practicing, you'll be able to do it in no time :) sorry for the long response, I just want everyone to go for their dreams and stuff~
My best friend showed me this about 2 weeks ago the music itself is wild and so beautiful but the meaning this song has to me is of such high value... you see my best friend had to move back to Arkansas because of family issues and I live in Arizona, he has only been gone for maybe 6 or 7 hours and I have listened to this song at least 18 times, just thinking of him. I miss you kellan. We will meet again ❤️
To call this beautiful would be an understatement. Literally brought me to tears. Heard it exactly when I needed to. Thank you Ivan and Michael, for sharing your talent with us. Love to you and yours.
this just made my heart ache listening. in a good an bad way. so beautiful. I haven't been able to play marimba since I graduated from music school. I don't have the money or space for one. I've been keeping up on playing piano but it's not quite the same. music however we can :) Thank you for sharing your gift
Marimbas were included in the tuned percussion array of theatre pipe organs of the 1920's which provided the music for the silent pictures. It was a new sound in this country at that time. They are my favorite percussive instrument.
Jack Godwin we had one at my high school, I always listened to a kid play “summer treehouse” by Chad Floyd, then I realized I oddly love Marimba duets.
I am an eighth grader. This is my favorite song, I want to learn this so bad, but I am working on a piece called furioso and valse. But when I get done with it and I learn a little bit more of four mallets I will be putting my all in this amazing song!
I just love the care and passion that they both put into this piece. Michael composed a cool (and very difficult) solo, and Ivan wrote this as a follow up, and you can tell they both care a great deal. It is such a wonderful performance.
Two people missed the thumbs up button and accidentally hit the thumbs down button. That is the only logical explanation. This is the most beautiful piece I have ever heard!
Two people in my school's band plannes on playing this for solo and ensemble. It was cancelled the day of due to COVID-19. They played it during lunch, and there wasn't a dry eye in the room.
I'm a freshman in high school and I stumbled across this video a while back and thought it would be really cool to learn. I got the sheet music for Christmas and now another freshman and I have already learned it and we plan to play it as a feature for a band concert in March. Thank you so much for creating such an awesome piece!
Hands down best piece of music literature I have ever heard. I hope to perform this as a senior with my best friend throughout high school and hopefully we can take it to state.

This is one of the hippest pieces I have ever heard for the percussion ensemble vernacular. The composition style really suits the modern day music that kids listen to, but it really also draws in musicians that are a little older and it has already inspired so many. I jam the Eastman Percussion Ensemble's performance of this piece in my free time. I hope to one day study this work/direct it/hear it performed live. Thanks, Ivan!
My friend is in eighth grade and she is playing this with our percussion teacher at school and it sounds amazing. There's no simplifying, just a lot of hard work.
So beautifully done! Don't know how anyone could down-vote something like this... if you are not into Marimbas, why would you even be watching this video?

try going to the band class that's where the percussion is
