This. This is what Ivan intended. The pocket is so tight. The mallets selections are so spot on. This made me fully regret no perusing my music degree.
I played this piece twice, once as a rearrangement right when it came out. Again a couple years ago for a small percussion ensemble activity. This rendition sounds like how we imagined we were playing. Watching y'all play this with such accuracy and musical execution brought me right back, reminding me of the joy in creating music. Thanks y'all for keeping the fire alive.
The use of drumset blends so well with what Ivan Trevino originally wrote, me and 2 seniors at our high school are getting ready to perform this in a few weeks and we gotta say nothing but thanks for producing this and putting it out there for us to find.
I love this piece so much I've listened to it at least 20 times it's so good with the drumset and the deep bass of the marimba also props to liking all the comments
Wow, I absolutely love this piece but this rendition had me mesmerized! I listened to it three times in a row and I can’t get over it! By the way I loved the tuning on that snare drum!
My favourite section is 0:00 to 8:16. Well done, this is an amazing performance, I hope I will someday be able to play it anywhere near as well as you guys do!
Composer Ivan Trevino's 1983 Marimba duet, Catching Shadows, has been magically arranged by the percussion ensemble Trio Colores, by adding a trap set. After listening to the original version, which was outstanding on its own, I was won over by this augmented arrangement. Bravo Trio Colores musicians!
cried during the soft parts and got extreme stank face during the groovy parts. ive been missing having a marimba for the entire 12 years since i left high school i need to get ine and build a trio like this
hey guys you need to put a waring at the top of these videos.. A few deep breaths before starting.. 8 mins 15 seconds without breathing can be dangerous..
Both of my band teachers preformed this at a percussion ensemble we were at. It was a Saturday and it just made my day that he played the song (I loop the song about 10 times a day)
I enjoyed this arrangement so much that, not only do I watch it daily, I just realized that it’s 8+ mins long. I got so lost in enjoying the piece that I never realized the length of it.
Great Adaptation! I was in an ensemble that played the full sextet; and specifically enjoyed your version because of the blend between using original parts from the piece and the new ideas introduced in the Drumset part!
I am so impressed and in awe. I hope the three percussionists are still able to make a living despite COVID-19 taking away the possibility of most live performances.
I watch this nearly every day, and love it. The collaboration between the musicians, their skill and talent...plus the video captures those nods and communication between the musicians. I have listened to other renderings of this piece but even the composer can't beat this performance of it.
Seriously loving the interpretation for the multi-percussion part. It’s by far the most complimentary and effective writing for Catching Shadows I’ve seen. Most importantly, well done with the keyboards, I’m in love with the mallet choices used in this performance.
this just tickled my brain in the right spot. thank you for making one of my favorite duets of all times into a wonderful rendition, the trap set served its purpose in every direction. soooo splendid.
Well done guys. This is exquisite. Beautifully played, beautifully filmed. -I think when you hear the Trevino/Burritt original, and then the Eastman Percussion sextet version, it really cries for this kind of adaptation. The drummer to rock out! :) -Orchestrating this production must have been quite the endeavor. :) I love the nail/"wind chimes". -Stephen
... Is this... live off the floor? I feel like for this quality of audio, it probably must not be, there's such clarity to the parts... but the sync is pretty convincing.
Spellbound. What a lovely treat to stumble upon. The fact you dont have a million likes by now is based solely on lack of genuine appreciation of art at its purest form. Unadulterated. Great work, way to inspire just that upon the dull and desensitizing masses. looking forward to more!
this is a good way to reminisce about a fantastic piece i never got true closure on thanks to covid. the drumset part reminds me of a time i was playing along with my duet partner on drumset and playing some beats that really complimented certain parts of the mallet parts. thank you for this!
This. This is what Ivan intended.
The pocket is so tight. The mallets selections are so spot on. This made me fully regret no perusing my music degree.
I don't think it's ever too late to restart pursuing your music degree..if you love something go after it..
Great place for the drummer to be. Right in the middle. What a rush!!!!!
Definitely the best music of all time. Hope more!
I am a Chinese student who is learning percussion. Hearing you play this piece of music makes me very intoxicated and I have a deep understanding

Camera work goes CRAZY
Check out NoArt Films, those guys are incredible!

Thank you so much! I hope your performance was a success🥁🔥
This mallet piece is just so mesmerizing to me, if I don’t play it within the next few years I might just lose my mind

Dear Alex! Thank you for your words and that you listend to our music! New stuff is coming, stay tuned! 😊
Yes! The snare tuning was kinda unique but I feel like it fit the style and groove really well. :)
My favourite section is 0:00 to 8:16.
Well done, this is an amazing performance, I hope I will someday be able to play it anywhere near as well as you guys do!
There's something important about this piece of music

Catching Shadows was written in 2014. Trevino was born in 1983
キレッキレ😃
I like the textures on drum set bravoooo

This was absolutely stunning. The music, the lighting, the camerawork, everything - insane!
Thank you for listening our music! We are so glad having an amazing team to create videos like that!
Best performance of the best percussion ensemble piece ever. Amazing work

Thank you😊

6:32 gives me chills
Love this, the precision, the dynamics, character. It's gorgeous.
Just amazing! 🤓🔥👏🏻
Thanks!
So Beautiful

Hail to the king
so nice. WOW
Thank you!😊
@@TrioColores Really good. I opened a beer and while listening to your performance I was thinking "why didn't I open a wine for listening to that?"
Best recording of Chasing Shadows! So well done, guys!! Ballet to watch, spine shivers to hear.
Thanks you! That means a lot to us! 😊
I adore this performance of the piece. If I could like it 100 times over, I would.

ドラムが邪魔せず良い仕事してるのすごい。
All great percussionists.
tysm for coming to my city(Daegu)
I am so impressed and in awe. I hope the three percussionists are still able to make a living despite COVID-19 taking away the possibility of most live performances.
I cannot stop listening this masterpiece!

I like! Nice arrangement! I have nothing else to say about it, it's just brilliant.
¡Son inspiradores, es más que hermoso! ❤
Klingt mega gut!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Magnificent Technique!
Simple and Beauty.

Eine einzige FREUDE! Ich hoffe noch ganz, ganz viel von Euch zu hören und zu sehen... möglichst LIVE....
Those drumset flams around 2:30 are some of the most tasteful I've heard
Thank you so much! We are glad you like our playing. There are already some sick new songs cooking. 😊 Stay tuned!
I watch this video like 3 times a week it’s CRAZY good
Bellísimo me encanta
I've heard this song with just the marimbas. The added drum kit? Phenomenal!
Holy f***ing crap, sorry but that was amazing. Never seen anything like that. And the camera work too was impressive. You guys should be very proud
