I really hope he continues to play this game until the end, the story really picks up later in game (and has my favourite moments), I know progress can be slow/frustrating for first time players in the beginning.

@@ezikrasthekobold3789 I'd rather have weak bitch tp around me than have a reaper on my tail. A warper would irl be way more easily avoidable. You just gotta swim away a bit, it isn't too relentless, while a reaper is huge, can grab you, could kill you in a single crunch and is way more relentless

One thing that's great about this game is it incredibly difficult to spoil. Like, there's a few places where you can explain something that's going to happen, but it in no way takes away from the sheer terror of running into it

I just adore how this game is so well made that just by being an exploration game set in a deep ocean world, it makes the exploration into the unknown a scary task.
I really appreciate that it doesn't go out of it's way trying to scare you.

The way I finished this game (also rerrified of the ocean) was by directing a friend who had already played what to do and where to go. They were very patient with me... the search for a certain important material got on their nerved '^_^

Not many people have blind gameplays anymore of Subnautica. It reminds me of some awesome days i had on this game when I was fresh to it! Love this! Also, this is the first time ever seeing you play so it was interesting to say the least! :P I plan to see more! :)
Me too, I played it for the first time last year and went into it blind, it was so fun and interesting. I never finished the game because I didn't want to lose my submarine
I love this because this is EXACTLY how I played. Waiting until day and being horrified of the ocean, but for a different reason lol. I spent a lot of my life on the ocean and the ocean being so alien is what was horrifying to me. I really want to see more, might convince me to start playing again and actually beat it.
You should try to beat it. Its not 100% accurate in terms of what you find underwater, but it is extremely good at representing what life would really look like for plants and animals at those depths. Bearing through the terror and going down deeper is a rewarding experience at the end of it all.
I haven't even watched this yet but I bet it's going to be awesome

when it said seek fluid intake after the explosion I'm just picturing pointcrow needing to hydrate because the character pissed themselves.

I was watching Markiplier play this, I think when it was in early access, and he had the stillsuit which allows you to recycle water. He got scared at one point, probably a late game creature, and then got water from the suit. It was hilarious because it was as though Riley had just pissed himself.

The best way to play this game is by going in knowing absolutely nothing about it, and I’m so glad he did, this is such an amazing game.
Eric, this is the perfect game for you to add a heart rate monitor for, I am like you and have a fear of the ocean and can imagine how much fun chat would have watching it go up and down lol. Love your content either way! Will always be a vod frog
Really glad he’s exploring new games. Subnautica is one of those games that’s just fun to watch people play no matter how many times I’ve seen it.
I am so scared of this game so I’m living it vicariously through you. Maybe once I know what I’m in for I can try it for myself. I have this on in the background so I won’t remember all the story😂
On a side note, my heart sank when I saw smant play this because I know you’ve had it as a sub goal for a while. I’m glad you still played it though and that you’re not letting some people’s bullshit stop you.
I was also really scared but ive played it a bunch of times now and its really good and one of my favorite games ever because it surprises you so much. Highly recommend trying it out.

point crow and smallant both played this? wow, who would of guessed that two gamers with similar interests would end up find a similar pockets of time between other big games to play another game, and happen to play a game that they didnt get to when it first came out when its making a reemergence in community's. *that was sarcasm* of course there's a good probability of them playing the same games. thats kind of how the gaming community works as a whole since people who like the same games are stuck with the same release schedule and part of the same communities that influence there" oh i want to play that now" mindset. difrent gamers can play the same games, its the beauty of games. honestly i like it when they overlap like this because you get to see multiple reactions to the same thing

Good thing subnautica doesn’t “really” have guns makes the game feel much safer when you protect yourself with a butter knife
actually, some games have a notification for when you get low on ammo. he would reload it then, or just wait for no bullets

people who cry about content creators "copying" others are pp-heads. I watch you and SmallAnt both, and really enjoy both of you as people and content creators, I feel like even when you cover the same games, it's a very different experience, and you are completely different people with different choices and different humour. I also love the friendly rivalry the two of you have going, always wished I had a pokemon rival irl lol
Unfortunately when he said him and Smant aren't friends in this VOD, he meant it. The friendly rivalry isn't a thing anymore and Pcrow wants to move on.
Basically Smant played a lot of that rivalry up to the point of editing Pcrow to look worse in a video, and on top of it Smant's community has been fairly toxic towards Pcrow for a while now. If you're only on RUclips or a more casual viewer it's easy to miss, but if you're engaged with the Twitch end of things it gets hard to not notice. People have been pretty mean to Pcrow for a while now and when he told Smant about it and asked for him to do something or tone it down, Smant didn't see the problem and couldn't understand why it was such an issue, therefore neglecting it.
The comparisons between Pcrow and Smant have worn him down and he's over it, there's no longer any comradery between them and it's unlikely there will ever be any in the future unless everyone stops grouping them together and calling Pcrow things like "Smant but worse" because it isn't funny and never was. It's more than an issue between just Pcrow and Smant, it's something the community itself did, and even the comments being positive still make him feel bad when he's lumped in with Smant.
That said I'd like to stress that this does not mean you can't enjoy Smant, Pcrow has literally said not to go attacking Smant or to stop watching/supporting him because of this, so I don't want this comment to be seen as an attack on Smant. Nobody should treat Smant badly for this and nobody would support anyone who does. Smant isn't a terrible person for this, him and Pcrow simply don't see eye to eye on this and due to it being a community-wide issue, even if they did it likely would have continued since it's difficult to get thousands of people to play nice.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I hope you understand!

Shut up man pointcrow got a lot of backlash because of smant and it's ruining the mood in a lot of his streams it's actually sad

They aren't friends anymore due to Smallant's community consistently mocking him and Ant just shrugging it off/disregarding his feelings as a whole. I can't blame the guy, your friends should be more important than the strangers that watch your content.

Came to the vod because I caught part of the stream live but missed the beginning and had to sleep through the end. I brought the game myself after your stream because it looks amazing but I'm a bit worried about freaking myself out whilst playing it! I'm probably going to rewatch the whole vod, and procrastinate on starting my own playthrough when I get home from work :)

That jump scare at the end actually scared me and I have played the game before

The rifle won’t kill anything, it’s only useful for getting close with a knife and/or running away. That’s why the crab didn’t die until he used the knife. I wonder if he realized that, or if he was distracted by other stuff
yea, it's a very interesting theme with the way they view human-alien interactions in the future. since it's in man's nature to command and conquer, the researchers on obraxis prime most likely got targeted by the same types of predatorial species as some of the leviathans in 4546B, then got carried away with using weapons, ending up in a massacre.
the game almost never makes you *want* to kill leviathans. of course you can, but since they're really not that hard to outrun, it's almost never going to be out of self-defense, and it's going to take you a *while*.
@@alpyne4897 I think there was a short fanmade story I read somewhere about a possible scenario for the Obraxis Prime incident where a fabricator was used by someone in a public area (possibly an airport/spaceport) to make a gun, which would’ve led to lawsuits against Alterra and made them change the functionality of fabricators.
I feel like the researchers overkill idea is more likely, but I could definitely see it either way
In fact, I think the developers were working on the game when Sandy Hook happened, so that might have parallels to removing weapons in the game

You know, I think I figured out why the soundtrack can feel so scary. I don't know much about music, but I've noticed that it always feels like very dramatic ambiance, like something new and big is being revealed. And as a result, you as the player somehow end up feeling *smaller.*

I love watching first time play throughs of Subnautica! Please keep going!! Also Subnautica Below Zero, while some may think it doesn't hold up the the original game, personally, I still loved it! Though its a new story line , I do still see Below Zero as a sort of continuation from the first game, you are on planet 4546B again after all... but now, you're freezing your ass off while fearing for your life, lol. Hope to see more of this game!

I also have JUST started my first game of Subnautica. Granted, I have seen plays of it, specifically NeebsGaming and Jesse Cox, but they aren't very detailed on progression or deep into story. I'm loving the game so far. Really wanna make a cyclops, but haven't discovered all the parts yet. Hope you enjoy this as much as I am!
You never realize how scary the game is until you play it. As someone who has put around 59 hours into this game my friend would always make fun of me for being scared until he tried the game and he never even got in the water. This game drains the life out of you when your first play it. And don't even get me started when you first hear or see a reaper. Every time chat is making fun of Eric i know the feeling he has and I've been there before. It really is quite fumy now that can just say shut up to a reaper and kill it.
This is game is so good at making you freak the hell out at every new sound you hear

I'm really sad that Ant allowed such toxicity and I sadly don't feel comfortable supporting him any longer. It brings the streamers integrity to question. I hope at some point Ant will take responsibility cause I really feel like he has a lot of good qualities.

Eric is one of the most genuine streamer/human being I’ve ever seen wow I love him, he’s amazing and I can relate to him on so many levels, and his chat is so tame and knows when things are pushing it, it’s such a amazing dynamic to see, even when pointcrow is upset or having a little issue he keeps his smile on.
