    Tom, I would recommend drilling the air diffuser hole bigger if the boiler keeps locking out. Riallo had a batch where the locking grove was not quite in line with the photocell. You either had to lock the electrodes in place to the side of the grove on the shaft or drill the hole a little bigger. If you are finding coke buildup around the hole check the distance of the head and make sure it's correct. Sometimes the adjustment screw/knob thing? (Found on the copper pipe just under the photocell if memory serves me right) Rotates via vibrations when running. If this seems to be the case tape it in position. Lastly I would check and change the capacitor especially if you find it's started to leak around the terminals. Then again, it could just be a one off lockout like you say. Good luck and keep up the videos!

      Thanks for the support, I didn't really go too deep into the boiler as they were under a contract with another company. I was really just checking for safety as I have a duty of care once I've been called to a job. I checked the readings from the last service and they were quite a bit out on the C02. The boiler did appear to burning quite clean though and I just advised the client to get the boiler people back.

    Hi Tom great video as usual,when I started out plumbing in 1979-2000s your jobs take me back,and I cannot get enough of your videos, I love your passion for the trade ,and your saying it is what it is was we all use to say occasionally depending on the job,and your preference for soldering joints over press fit is great as in my day we never had press fit,your channel is by far the best for plumbing and keep up the great work and I will be watching, have a great weekend. The oil line had a solenoid valve on it next to the filter. Surely the mikrofil interlocks with it? That's why it locked out? Also the microfil should have a PRV if the inlet pressure is over 5 bar. They won't warranty it if it has seen higher pressure. 👍

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  3 месяца назад

      The Mikrofill wasn't interlocked on this one for some reason, the heating has been leaking a while with the unit constantly faulting but it was the first time the boiler had locked out. The solenoid appeared only be interlocked in with CO alarm and the fire alarm. Thanks for watching mate, it sis greatly appreciated

      Thanks for subscribing mate, the drain offs are supposed to be fitted at the low point on a system, you won't really see it much on domestic as know one bothers but as this was light commercial I thought I would do it right

    hi when you are soldering an elbow how many seconds do you wait till you put the solder on after heating the fitting?

      It depends on a few factors, I use mapp gas which gets hotter faster, you can normally tell when the flame goes slightly green, the fitting is at the right temperature, it does take practice but once you have done a few it is easy, remember getting the fitting too hot is as bad as too cold as it will burn the flux

    Tom. Is there any difference between an accumulator tank and an expansion vessel?

      In principle they are more or less the same thing, accumulators tend to be much larger as they need to be sized depending on the demand where as an expansion vessel is just to take up expanding, you can get pumped accumulators which boost the pressure up. You must fit a check valve on an accumulator to stop the water going back into the water main. Hope this helps, thanks for watching

    I wouldn't trust an unconnected isolating valve without a stop end!!

      Fair point mate, I always turn the water off in empty properties as I don't trust my own soldering, thanks for the support as always

      Oh I see. Makes sense. Yeah burn out is real, I always have great plans of working long hours to get work done but it soon catches up with you, especially with a young family at home. Keep up the good work.
