Really enjoyed that at your expense Tom. You did an amazing job I’m sure you were flummoxed for a long time until you had your eureka moment when you know what the problem is. Am I right in saying then that the flow from the boiler went to one rad then out the lock shield to the other one instead of being teed off the main flow and returns individually. Thanks for making this video Tom much appreciated.
That's exactly how is was piped mate, through one radiator and then on to the next, It was certainly a new one on me, thanks for the support, it is greatly appreciated
I think there are one pipe systems that plumb the radiators in series, that's the only way I can make sense of what I've seen in countless videos from Russia. You've got a block of flats and the pipe goes from the basement into one radiator in the ground floor flat, out of the radiator and up to the first floor, etc.. If you turn off one rad, you kill all the other flats on that line. They still sometimes plumb it like that but when they replace rads, they add a bypass pipe with two valves. As a result, flats are always baking hot in winter and people open the windows to regulate the temperature, at least that's what I've read.
Absolute nightmare… these are the ones people dread! Smoshing great chunks out the wall 😂 you’re the real deal mate, none of that trendy influencer content here, real plumbing.

Looks to me like the original installer was a DIYer and originally went for a totally unsuitable out of date one pipe system; then when it wouldn't work, incorporated the radiator into the main one pipe circuit.
You could well be right mate, it made me laugh they had used all tee's, and then just capped off the spare port, it probably would have been cheaper to get a plumber in with the cost of fittings
I did actually get offered a chance to go on the show a few years back, they contacted me looking for local trades, I was super busy at the time, but I know a few people who helped, the actual episode never got shown as the person died before it was aired, thanks for watching as always mate
Well done for persevering and what a great example of push fit pipe work being installed totally wrong. I see this time and time again, Speedfit used but not clipped. John Guest state clipping distances are 15mm Horizontal run 300mm Max! and Vertical 500mm. 22mm 500mm and 800mm. So many so called professionals do not install correctly.
Thanks for the support mate, if I'm honest it all needed ripping out and replacing, like most jobs the customer just wants stuff working and aren't to bothered about what pipes look like if they can't be seen, as a plumber, it pains me to see plastic pipes lashed in

I've had a job like this where the radiators were piped up wrong under the floor only found out after hours of fault finding. Customer says Ohh they've only just stopped working....
That wasn't a one pipe system, it was just wrongly piped on a two, a one pipe system has feeds taken off the same pipe and then into the radiator, this had two pipes but was looped in series, a weird way of piping it for sure, thanks for watching
Thanks for the support as always Josh, I tend to try and do the difficult jobs myself, I don't want to be accused of doing all the easy jobs, It's difficult trying to keep everyone happy, when I was an apprentice I used to get sent to all the stuff nobody else wanted, often they would be jobs where other people had been and just ordered parts, they were the hardest as often you were left to deal with everything, I do get some easier jobs but I tend not to film them.
@@PlumbLikeTom fair play man, funny how as soon as you got back there you knew what it was 😂 could've technically been about an hour or two job, but this is plumbing 😂😂
When I moved into the bungalow I’m in now one radiator didn’t work, it had a 15mm isolating valve under the floorboard and the washing machine drained under the floorboards…….no waste! 😡
Thanks for the support mate, it certainly was a challenge, the thing with this trade is you never stop learning, the tough jobs certainly build character 👍
Fort Boyard takes me back 😂 Crystal maze was better though. What a nightmare job I'm glad I'm a skinny little runner might come in handy when I'm out of college into the real world. 😅 Don't lose your trousers though Harry might leg it for good. 😂
Thanks for the support as always mate, I used to love the crystal maze as well, work trousers with the hanging pockets are a pain when crawling, the pockets snag it pulls the trouser down, I'm sure all trades have experienced this at some point, thanks for watching as always
Think the morons who piped that up were on peace work, and just used what they had on the van, didn’t want to waste time going to merchants for what they needed 🙈 Well done on sticking with it Mate 👍
I think you might be right, I don't actually think they used one elbow, they were all tees with caps, an expensive way of plumbing, thanks for watching mate
It certainly was a bodge job that's for sure, it struck me more as DIY because of the lack of clips and the use of tee's with cap ends, my boss would have killed me if I had been wasting more expensive fittings, thanks for watching

It wouldn't be the first time mate, thanks for watching as always Darren
plastic access panels keep them in your van very handy less making good just silicone
I remember i had a problem like this blocked on a manifold nightmare to find
Blockages on heating can be a nightmare, thanks for watching as always Keith
That looked painful!!!
It certainly was a tough job, thanks for watching Michael
I've had a job like this where the radiators were piped up wrong under the floor only found out after hours of fault finding. Customer says Ohh they've only just stopped working....
Possibly a one pipe system? I would have converted it to a sealed system🤔
That wasn't a one pipe system, it was just wrongly piped on a two, a one pipe system has feeds taken off the same pipe and then into the radiator, this had two pipes but was looped in series, a weird way of piping it for sure, thanks for watching
This made my day feel a bit better tbh... Bloody hell tom you don't half get the jobs do you? Do you pick these jobs or just get given them?
You should have a knighthood !!
There are far more worthy people than me, I'm just a plumber trying to earn a living, thanks for the support John
I hate plastic even if it's quick and cheap. Hasn't been around long enough to pass the test.
Safe the to say. The customer has done that pipe work and messed it up and then couldn't figure out how to fix it!
You could well be right mate, thanks for watching 👍
27:44 My mother thought I was watching porn😂😂😂
Sorry about that mate, thanks for watching
When I moved into the bungalow I’m in now one radiator didn’t work, it had a 15mm isolating valve under the floorboard and the washing machine drained under the floorboards…….no waste! 😡
Oh wow, that is bad, thanks for watching as always mate
Ya
Thanks for the support as always mate, have a great weekend 👍
Hi you need to go and buy a electrician snake it is on a reel and is flexible to go through cooper pipe
Thanks for the support Barry, I will have to see if I can get hold of one
Nice nightmare there, but I'm sure you're better for it.
Thanks for the support mate, it certainly was a challenge, the thing with this trade is you never stop learning, the tough jobs certainly build character 👍
🤘😎🤘💨
Thanks for the support as always Wayne👍
@@PlumbLikeTom Great content as always 👍👍
@@SuperWayneyb I apprecaite that mate, it really means a lot
Good vid
Fort Boyard takes me back 😂 Crystal maze was better though. What a nightmare job I'm glad I'm a skinny little runner might come in handy when I'm out of college into the real world. 😅
Don't lose your trousers though Harry might leg it for good. 😂
Thanks for the support as always mate, I used to love the crystal maze as well, work trousers with the hanging pockets are a pain when crawling, the pockets snag it pulls the trouser down, I'm sure all trades have experienced this at some point, thanks for watching as always
Think the morons who piped that up were on peace work, and just used what they had on the van, didn’t want to waste time going to merchants for what they needed 🙈
Well done on sticking with it Mate 👍
I think you might be right, I don't actually think they used one elbow, they were all tees with caps, an expensive way of plumbing, thanks for watching mate
What a mess that job is Tom
It certainly was mate, we got it sorted in the end though
Someone buy this man some beard trimmers...
Could have been a DIY bodge or apprentice that piped it up as not many people would try to get through there no offense intended to apprentice 😂😂
It certainly was a bodge job that's for sure, it struck me more as DIY because of the lack of clips and the use of tee's with cap ends, my boss would have killed me if I had been wasting more expensive fittings, thanks for watching
Nightmare Tom.
Thanks for the support as always Brian, I was certainly pleased to get that one sorted
Wear face masks in those roof spaces your breathing in lots of crapp.
You will feel a lot better when you get older.
Thanks for the support as always Kevin, I defiantly need to do that
that was some blocked pipe work ,do not need these jobs
Thanks for watching Malcolm, it was a tough one for sure
Bet you love all that itchy insulation 😳
I love it mate, it's particularly nice on a really hot day, seriously though it can be nasty stuff, thanks for watching as always 👍
