Good Samaritans at Carnival Stop Out-of-Control Ride

- Just as people flock back to theme parks post-pandemic, there have been a number of accidents on popular rides. The latest incident could have ended in disaster if not for some quick-thinking heroes who banded together to control the ride. It happened at a festival in Michigan. Scary video shows the base of a “Magic Carpet Ride” start to come apart and people fear it will topple over, injuring the people strapped into the ride. That’s when a group of good Samaritans come to their rescue. #InsideEdition

@New Life New Rules Why? Would you rather see the people on the ride killed?
Honestly, I would rather help instead of recording.
I can't just wait for tragedy to happen then report it to cops. If you wanna help drop the phone, take off your Clark Kent glasses and go Superman!
Yeah like at least be appreciative for the samaritans to help them
@New Life New Rules yeah as if anyone gonna help you in futurr
Bystander effective. Thanks for those people who stepped in.
Mad respect to the people who risked their own lives to save others here
I notice you regularly say the same things
why do I see you everywhere

Why they saved people lives ass hole.
While the operator jumped off and ran away
Reasons like this I don't trust carnival rides. I'll ride the ones at bigger amusement parks but I don't trust carnivals. I think they definitely get skipped on a lot of safety protocols.
usually temporary things have lower requirements. The shorter you use them, the fewer times the accident
As long it's 100% tested, then it's good to go
Yes I got on this with friends first row and I don’t think I will ever do it again
Yeah I'll stick with balloons and ball toss games from now on, much safer that way than being flung away by an out of control machine and falling to my death from a high altitude
I stick with ground rides... like the carousel.
It only needs one man to trigger a domino effect. Kudos to that guy.
Right? It sucks that it has to take one person to think to stop the ride from falling over for everyone else to do the same.
That guy was the operator himself. He was the first to hold on then everyone came to help.
@@depressantdrug so many things could have gone wrong. If it toppled, first few would have been catapulted. One fool leaped on the railing with all his weight. Could have broken it. Should be hesitant about these things.

I am in the carnival business I know what I’m talking about
@@BigDaddy36254 Your carnival is not equal to every carnival. I'm sure yours is great but that doesn't mean there aren't people at other carnivals willing to pull strings to make things go cheaper and faster aka probably what happened here in this video.
Just need better qualified inspection everywhere along welds as well they take a lot of stress
That is exactly what my husband would tell me when I wanted to go to the carnival.
His words: How can you trust these big rides get screwed on and off often, and they probably get put on by men who were probably drinking the night before.
Death: If it weren't you meddling kids
God: if u holy saviors didn’t use quick thinking and saved them they would all be dead and u would’ve gone to hell, good job for doing that anyways
Zoinks!
Dumb question here, why didn't the operator hit the emergency stop button? That is supposed to immediately stop the ride.. I'm guessing because it's the carnival and they don't really have safety inspections for those places....
Big red stop button =/= momentum ceases to exist.
The momentum *has* to be transfered somewhere...
Stomp on the brakes whilst in a car & you skid.
Brake the momentum of a spinning portable ride about to topple over & you can guess what happens.
A safety inspection would've ensured the ride was properly anchored down, in addition to making sure the off switch is functional.
@@sheevpalpatine2535 If emergency stops made rides stop completely in its tracks there would be no point in having them. Its to slow the momentum for it to stop of course.
@@onyx_vii7808 that’s basically what they said- y’all on the same page
@@disappointment3090 Its not though. That person is assuming it'll come to an immediate stop which it won't.
Maybe the operator is panicking?
No wonder why some people get scared of high rides because of stuff like this.
Exactly!
I agree 👍💯!
For me, it’s only because we’re so damn high up. I can trust rides because something like this never happened to me.
Usually only on carnival rides...
Makes me want to barficate 😬
The carnival better get ready for them lawsuits
You mean lawsuits
both
I have a friend that join the carnival over ten years ago and only the owners of this ride will get sued because the whole carnival usually isn’t one enterprise, it’s a bunch of different owners…
Let’s also remember nobody got hurt so this shouldn’t be a pay day for anybody… They should focus on better regulations in this state that it happened….
They won’t get lawsuits
The man that started it is a hero. He pulled the Skorpion “Get over here”! From Mortal Kombat and the crew arrived to help and save the day. Great job!
Imagine being that person who yells “Final Destination” before the ride begins just to be funny & this happens
No seas mamon 🤣
I never trusted rides where you can just pack them up and take them with you
That's why I would rather go to Disneyland.
well i mean it’s safe the thing is they forgot to anchor down the ride to the asphalt or concrete, they need to drill deep holes to anchor it down but it seems like these people forgot to. i’ve been going to my hometowns carnivals and for over 100 years nothing had happene.

But they did risk there life’s atlest the first few people to help
There were really no lives at risk at all like that ride just wasn’t stopping
@@tyboss0025 The swaying structure suggest otherwise. In a way, coming close to a ride that haven't stopped yet with unstable structure is risky. But at the same time, their quick reaction buys time for the ride to eventually stop.
Notice how people didn’t step up until the first person did? That’s the bystander effect.
Here we see the bystander effect in action. No one was sure what to do at first. When one man started helping the operator, the others rush in to help. Props to those who act first and inspire others.

Ride: "I'm about to end this operator's whole career"
Lol poor operator. Imagine this happening on your shift on a supposedly normal night. I wouldn't be the same.
@ThatOne I'm pretty sure there is but several comments bring up a good point about momentum. It's still going to spin a few times afterwards because momentum is built up and released so nothing the operator can do but watch or help like the others on this type of ride.
That is a job; not a career.

this just proves that carnival ride safety needs to be improved to the level of safety that the parks have, i think the big issue is that carnival rides and coasters aren't as strictly inspected.

That the parks have? You have google so there is no excuse for that foolishness. Same rules and far more accidents.
