      I'm glad you enjoy the video though it is an older video from many years ago. The method should still work but I'm sure the qc code has been changed so it would be best to use a newer mod as a reference for your qc.

    Good video but I have a problem, the zoey one doesn´t have the reference but the rochelle mod does, but in the file of animations of zoey there are three SMD extra files named a_proportions, a_proportions_corrective_animation and reference

      you have to subscribed to the addon and load the game up first, and then leave the game check your left4dead2 workshop folder

    trying this but whenever i play multiplayer the model anim messed up. but when i play singleplayer the model animated properly.

      @yudhaxn1195 The animations for multiplayer require an edited version of the qc. While single player will work out normally.

    Quick question, do you just leave $bodygroup alone? That is a new QC command that appears in the .qc files

      I would just leave it as is since its pretty much a tag that lets the game know that section is the body and can be swapped with other bodies under the same tag. (I think)

    Hey, im having some trouble with compiling the arms' qc file, at 13:51 I start compiling the qc file however the compiled folder is empty,

      That may mean that your qc did not compile correctly or that perhaps you are looking at the wrong folder since survivors and survivor arms are placed in different folders, also make sure the compiler is set to l4d2. I hope that helped.

    Heya, I don't know how to fix this. Can you help me??
    Crowbar ERROR: The model compiler, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceSDK\bin\source2007\bin\studiomdl.exe", does not exist.
    Possible causes: The game's SDK or Authoring Tools has not been installed (usually via Steam Library Tools) or the path given to Crowbar
    I alr have the studiomdl and the source SDK, and stills having this error.

    I managed to do this however is there a way to put custom anims? I put a Zoey mod on Ellis but she has Ellis’ animations? Anyway to do this?

      Yes its possible to do this,

      That link will tell you how to do it, I personally do this as well since the person made the qc files for it and I think its easier.

    At 8:05 for my addon I don't have the $model thing for it so I can copy but I have $bodygroup and studio

      when you have $bodygroup and studio that means that the model is made up of multiple smd files, go ahead and leave it as it was decompiled. I'll show you an example I use when I import multiple models in the QC like that. Ignore the dashes (---) its just to keep things easy to see

      @@roguefusion Awesome, also always double check your materials location in the QC code as well as the VMT files in your materials folder. Sometimes its as simple as a space in the wrong place.

      In inorder to see the VPK you have to make sure to download the L4D2 authoring tools from STEAM. You can find it in your STEAM's Library tools section

      @@MonkeyRebel117 yeah it did, one small problem tho, the model i used to port another survivor is a short model, and i used your gordon freeman addon to test it on, hope you don't mind, which is obviously a bigger model, and that turned my short model into a taller model.

    Hey man, love the tutorial! Can you please make how to swap weapon slot next? Like theres a hk416 with holo sight that i really like but its in m16 slot so the scope kinda bother me, all i want to do is switch it to the sg552 slot.       It could work but there's probably going to be some stretched bones that will make your model look a little odd. I would just redo the rigging for your potential survivor at that rate.

    im getting some issues as I try to swap a Nick skin to Ellis, when I go to decompline I get this messege

      If so than its pretty much the same thing but usually body group is used to combine the models together like heads to upperbodies and lowerbodies. (Well I'm Guessing) So if you have multiple smd files than just copy and paste the body groups sections over the $model line segment

    Hey me again. So I have a quick question. So I'm kinda suck at the compiling part. Every time I try to compile the .qc file I always get a small error saying,
    " ERROR: c:\users\deejr\desktop\leon-nick\models\survivors\decompiled_nick\survivor_gambler.qc(11): - bad command flexfile.
    ERROR: Aborted Processing on 'survivors/survivor_gambler.mdl'"
    Then it says its finished but, every time I go to open up the file nothing shows up.. I'm so close lol. Thanks in advance.

      Alright sounds like its looking for a flex file, so something like a head animation or eye movement, in the code. Make sure to get rid of all the flex files lines in the qc if you don't know how to use them. (I don't know how to use them properly) An example of a flex line would be like this:
      flexfile "survivor_teenangst.vta"
      {
      defaultflex frame 0
      flex "frame01" frame 1
      or
      anything with flexcontroller in it
      Remember these are just examples of codes involving flex files, so they may look different but delete them and similar ones.
      PS. Make sure to make backups of orginal qcs just incase something just goes wrong.

      Ahh great it worked! Now the only problem i'm getting now is that the model is showing up in game, but now the textures aren't applying to the model. :/ ... I did what you said in the video and copied the texture files and made sure to link the right files in the .qc to find, but I keep getting the black and purple textures. Guessing i'm doing something wrong. I'm litterally sooo close lol. Mind if I add you on steam or if you have any other platform like Twitter etc. I can add you on? I don't mean to flood your comment section haha. Thanks in advance!

      if you are talking about the line of code than yea it can work ya just gotta change the name to whatever ya want since you are just saying that the model that you are using is called "this" but the actual file is called "this.smd"

      +MintyMiku Do you know how to use 3DS MAX or BLENDER? I should also mention that 3DS MAX has a program that will give you three years free and not charge you when it ends if your a student. BLENDER is a free program regardless.

      If its an already existing add-on that has the models you need than you can download it and decompile the files from it. Then download an already existing mod replacement for the one thing you want to replace and decompile that as well to get the raw qc code for it. Then by theory you should be able to place the raw smds for the model you want into the new mod folder you're making along with the new qc code that you would edit to have the right materials and model paths in it. Remember to always make a copy folder that you will use as a test folder so you don't accidentally alter the raw file you are using as reference.

      @@johnyakuzareal Sorry but I don't know how to port in the L4D1 Base game, but as for the pasting the qc code into the qc file you need to use the part in the description like I do in the video. You sinply select all the stuff I say to select and than you paste the code from the description over the select code. You must also make sure you rename the parts in the code that refrence the smd files with the same file you have.

    Quick question. Can this be applied with just animations? Say I have a Rochelle model and it is using the basic Rochelle animations and I want to replace her animations with Zoey's. Can I use this method for that?

      It should be possible but you will lose the face animations unless you properly attached the VTA file and raw SMD files from Rochelle you want to use to replace the animations of Rochelle to zoeys. just make sure you use the raw qc code as a base for Rochelle since it has all the info already there. You just need to add the proper code in order to giver her the animations.

      This method is for the game L4D2 that contains survivors from both available maps in L4D and L4D2 but if you only own the base game for L4D1 than the method will be different.

      Well this is an older guide so perhaps some of the qc code was changed over time. Also I do know that Zoey replacements tend to t pose a lot and I don't know if it's because there are so many qc versions of her.

    Please delete this video. It is lacking very important information required to make animations work in online games.

    I posted a comment here earlier but I did some revisions to make sure things are working properly. I use the same version of Crowbar that you use in this video, I configured everything in both the program and in the desired QC I intend to compile. When I clicked compile I got this:

    I have no idea what the problem might be because I configured the QC accordingly and what I hoped to fix this situation didn't work. The model in question have no face flexes but I don't understand when it says there are no sequences.

      @@MonkeyRebel117 Thankfully the model works. The only problem I have now is that one part has missing textures which makes no sense because it's a killing floor 1 model. All of the VMF files are configured accordingly, it's just a singular like of code for the textures to work but I can't figure out what the problem is. The part in question that's missing textures is the right eye.

      @BasilBonehead ah interesting, I wonder if it's looking for a specific material name. I know source eyes that move have a specific material name.

      @@MonkeyRebel117 What's weird is that killing floor models don't have that, the eyes don't move. It's static.

      @BasilBonehead alright here I recommend you look at the progress Luke how you sent it before and look at the material names it's looking g for and make sure it's calling for the proper material in the proper folder.
