I think the easiest thing to do in legend and lower (maybe even higher rank?) is that in the first 15 minutes, you don't need to hoard observer. Let your other lane get some observer as well. The early vision is there to see ganks and movement around trees which the support would make to ex: contest pull / setup stun.
The lower ranks is honestly lose lose, it feels like if everyone takes responsibilities for their plays they'd improve, everyone would improve. Instead, people in the shit-tiers will place blame on everyone but themselves and then you have 1-4 other players (maybe including yourself) that hinder everyone on your team's chances of winning and gaining mmr.
In his defense, dude may have blocked his own camp but it's still a sentry in range of his that will allow the enemy to deward his wards. It's a strange circumstance and one I've not seen myself but I understand his reasoning. Why let an enemy ward live that you can take down?
I feel like allowing Sentries and Observers to "stack" in the inventory was a bit of a mistake, in regards to how new players learn the game. By having them stack, it sort of implies that they should be used together, especially given how you can easily pick up 1 of each. It's therefore naturally intuitive to buy 1 of each, and quickly "smack them down" in the same place, even if it's actually really bad for the game itself. On a related note, I have a warding question. Sometimes when playing offlane support, I will use an observer instead of a sentry to block their pull camp. This is so I also have vision of the jungle, which can be important, especially given certain match ups. I have noticed the pro's will generally always place sentries to block camps. Is there a reason for this? I understand that if they unblock the camp, they get the free gold for dewarding, however I am of the understanding that sentries pay the same amount, so it ends up being the same. Is this horrendously bad play on my part, or is using obs to block camps okay?
6:16 I think it's excusable if team plays super-passive. Sometimes you gotta force things to happen (probably not the case here and dazzle is a bad hero to do it but point still stands)
Nope, it is simply a big mistake. And a classic for low MMR as well. They are 4 vs an unknown amount of enemies (so the assumption should be 5). There is an LC in the game, so Dazzle may never, never, never show himself when there is a possibility for a teamfight. We even see OD walking towards the creep wave (which is a huge positioning mistake as well). What Dazzle should have been doing here if he wants to play aggressive is simply attack the wave so it aggros to him and therefore stops damaging the tower and then farm it. Even that is bad as it's obvious that the enemy team is looking for an opening - and Dazzle would be their best target.
The point of the video is to pick apart the things dazzle did wrong? Didn't play perfectly is an understatement, his gameplay was littered with so many mistakes that his team had almost nothing to work off. Yeah of course they played bad it's crusader, but they also had absolutely no useful vision for pretty much the entire game and couldn't rely on dazzle saving them in rough situations due to the dazzle being so cavalier with positioning. Notice the 1/4hp carry and the roaming NP
I don't see anything wrong with high cliff wards tbh. People just use them at the wrong time. If your carry is farming defensively and you just need to know if someone is coming for him then the high cliff will give the most vision. If they are going to smoke for a gank then at best it can be predicted due to a lack of enemy heroes showing on the map for quite some time. But even then no vision would save you from a smoke gank if it's done correctly. I also believe high cliff wards are best used in an area you control. If you are strong in your own jungle but still need time to farm defensively you should use the highcliff. If you are strong as a team a high cliff ward is also great in their triangle or their jungle as long as your team defends the ward which will more often than not give you more kills on supports trying to be smart and ward up the area. I think the only time high cliffs are a no no is when it's a desperation for vision and they have a great chance of dewarding you with out much to respond to it. That's why I get pissed off at midlaners that over rotate and lose mid tower only to complain later that there is no vision when we have no control over the map
Cliff wards are bad because they are obvious and ideally you want your ward to stand as long as possible(unless you placing them to see in a fight). Wards are needed mostly to scout/spot rotations and you don't need to have full vision for that. Also carry should know themselves where to farm safely (and you don't need to wipe their asses placing wards for them)
It's not that they're wrong, it's like you said, there's a time and place for them. In my opinion, the majority of wards should not be on cliffs, especially once they've been killed before. There needs to be a mix of 'short-term' cliff wards and 'long-term' other wards throughout the map. My main issue in this game is the amount of cliff wards all on the same part of the map making them extremely redundant and frequently dewarded. You can't always spot smokes, but the value of deep wards is that sometimes you will and occasionally avoiding a big death can build a lead in Dota. You definitely will NOT spot a smoke if you only have defensive wards.
Defensive wards (from the river to your base) can have impact if you are predicting some rotations, like wards in portals or in the entrances of jungles, but deep in your own jungle will never have impact: you are not spotting any rotation, you only giving a false sensation of safe to your carry, whose farm pattern should cover him by itself, no need to sacrifice a scarce resource. Offensive ward (from enemy base to the river) will give you the best information, because you will have time to react or to organize a smoke gank for example. Yes, cliff ward give the best vision of course, but they are so common that you are guaranteed to get dewarded, so you should only put them if you are fighting, then it doesn’t matter if they know you have a ward there (good supports will even risk their life to deward these wards, because they can turn a teamfight) or if you are pushing their t2 and you want to pressure them, so you are putting high cliff wards to not allow them to access their own triangle or jungle for example, but the moment you are not there anymore (for example, you are now going for roshan) you will lose the ward.
@@ZQuixotixgame theory says you have to place more of the suboptimal wards than of the perfect wards such that the enemies get equal value from checking a cliff or a more hidden position.

I wish every player below 3k MMR could see this video... I don't understand how these braindead cliff-warders never figure out basic warding strategy lol
me when i hit 3.1k mmr
Hi ZQuixotix, please help me review this game.

I play Treant Protector
In this game, I and LS is in the same party. I felt we have good start, they took 3 bounty runes but we had 2 kills. In the mid game we played together and win some fights, but we lost the game. IMO, the main reason is Axe kept playing by himself, then we took some 4 vs 5 fight and lost. Also SF sometimes attempt to pick off an enemy hero but didn't have enough information about their heroes, and got killed instead. I also got killed while trying to help him. What should I do and what item should I buy to win game like this in the future? Thank you.

I am playing Pugna
We destroyed lane, Troll had twice the net value of the enemy offlane combined at 8 minutes. He refuses to group, and wants to continue farming one more item. I try to rally the troops multiple times to try and push with our MASSIVE advantage, but fail to do so. Troll spent the entire game in vc saying that he needs to farm out Battle fury, then BKB and after that he needs MKB, and after he has MKB he needs rosh and THEN he can fight.. But at that point the enemy team has already caught up, and it is too late.
I am relatively new to dota, but I have played 5k hours in League. I am currently Legend 1. I know that I am not flawless, and I only have 200 games so my game knowledge is still lacking in many aspects. Hope you take a look, the game is the biggest throw I've ever had in any of my games.

Yo z, I gave you a gem of a clip with an ion shelled creep that killed the sniper a while back.. got another one with some absolute jack hole plays from my team..
I’m abbadon 3. my teammates really sucked, not saying I didn’t make mistakes. Just not on that level.. this all happens within 10-15mins. Worth a watch for a laugh at least. Notice the 1/4hp carry and the roaming NP
I have headache watching this game and what they did. They need to watch your livestream how to play supp role and your content more.
I don't know man... dota is not about common sense. You see the enemy you dive and die and then blame the team.
Who ever the dazzle is really shouldn't be playing dota support. I'd yell at him in lane.
No way these are crusaders and I can't get out of herald lol
Send a recebt match id i want to see
@@elvis4868 match ID of what? One game wont say much for better or worse.
I could send one where I play really well or very poorly.
From what I see, I get too long of streaks both winning and losing for it to be reasonable.
@@amberswilddiaries2831 even games where you play "really well" will be riddled with mistakes
@@elvis4868 ofc there are tones of mistakes, Im not an idiot. I miss a lot of cs, I choose stupid fights, I don't push well, I build items in wrong order or even useless to the game. But after saying all of that, I feel that matchmaking is kinda whack.
It cannot be possible that I stop 30 games then get stomped 30 games all the time.
I will send two ID's one bad and one good
Good one: 7696161862
Bad one: 7687570963
Both games I played AM
Thanks, I had a lot of fun watching this :D
I can not understand how i am on guardian and can not go up... Those mistakes are so HUGE!!! I am not good yet on dota but i am not THAT bad...the whole team are doing so many mistakes...tide has 8K and not using that gold to do MORE on enemies. Its like watching low heralds with technical skills
Send a match id of your games then
Hi Zach could you please review this game
Match id:7658663245
The problem is that my team were severely under leveled my pos 1 didn't farm pos 2 wasn't really ganking the kotl was kinda just throwing out spells and I was the ES pos 3 and i understand i did somethings wrong like solo pushing and stuff like that but my teammates weren't able to help get kills of echo slams the kotl wouldn't ward and the team was just very un coordinated and there was a lot of pausing for some reason and the doom wouldn't build regular items and the rest of my team kinda gave up and doom and kotl both ended at lvl 15 meanwhile I'm like 22 and alot was going wrong with the team
would be much appreciated if you watched
Match id:7657800668 - Lifestealer - carry - this game i felt left alone pretty much all the game. I have many games like this where i feel abbandoned and don't know how to make team follow my timings as carry. I use microphone to make calls but it doesen't provide any results.. This game a number of times 1 or both supports weren't even close or them decide to go push other lanes/towers while cores kept fighting. (supports oracle and silencer)
Hope you choose this for next episode. thank you for good content anyway

Hello! I left a comment in your discord about maybe having a replay reviewed, I won this game but the laning stage went poorly, I am playing the drow and my support was playing the AA who became very toxic very quickly when I asked him if he would please stop holding my hand in the lane. But WFIIA?

We are at the losing position all the time from the beginning to the end, but we (or I) managed to hold off the game quite long and even get 20/3 for K/D. My Net Worth is even higher than the enemies even in the losing position. Please tell me how I can do better to carry such games. I know I probably messed up on the last Cyrstalys purchase (should have bought BKB instead) and some out of position thing that force me to die (2nd death probably)
I try to recommend your channel to my friends but after a couple of attempts are pronouncing the name i give up
