- Is your team holding you back from climbing the ladder? Let's find out! Getting gold isn't the only thing a carry player should be thinking about. They need to actively look for ways to build a networth advantage over the enemy teams in order to consistently win games and gain MMR. In other words, get out of the jungle and push the f****** lanes in :)

"this creepwave is smarter than your whole team"
Feel like this should be lesson one of Dota: MAKE SURE YOU'RE DOING MORE THAN CREEPS!
These videos are top tier man. You break down what the player is thinking and contrast it so well with what they should be doing. We are all juggernaut sometimes so thank you.
Your "oooor" is hillarious. Thanks for entertaining us while teaching us. Youre an awesome teacher!
I missed this series so much! And the or scenarios are getting out of hand 😂
Haha that golem stuff is hilarious!! Great video I learned a lot. These are some of my favorite dota videos, keep it up man!
My biggest pet peeve is when people farm and let the other side equally farm and then who wins is a chance toss up or who has better end game, as opposed to (or) actually trying to create a networth difference.
It’s so good that this video highlights the difference between passive vs active farming! It makes a big difference and affects your entire team’s movements/pace of the game!
I like that you've gotten more animated in your more recent videos :)
That was a very good take you used for the "if you had one" gag. Nice job
Absolutely loved watching this video, and im not even a carry player :D I pretty much only play pos5 and always pick Warlock if its available. I feel like I am often doing well on the lane, but when I am struggling I often struggle very hard. After the laning phase I often find myself just running around doing nothing. Would love to see you cover my game if you want to! (Archon/Legend) :D
Next time I see a carry farming neutrals completely ignoring everything else on the map, insisting that they know how to carry, I know where to send them!
@@JasonRennie Those carries are the absolute worst. Dead networth with no impact.
I can understand when they 500 gold off their next big item/bkb, etc. But the ones that insist on farming 3 items before they even show up for a single pick or ONLY come when the conditions are absolutely perfect (almost never the case in pubs) are the ones I hate supporting the most
If you feel like youre running around doing nothing, possibly not being able to get any picksoffs, then try to get some gold through other ways like pushing out creepwaves (which your cores most likely wont do in that bracket anyways) and stack, like A LOT. Warlock for example can easily stack multiple camps at the same time and if your cores dont want to take them, then feel free to farm then on your own
You should watch that ari - grubby coaching. Ari is a 12k mmr position 4/5 player he explains things about warlock.
God i love 6:30
As an old Dota 1 player with twenty years in, who used to be one of the best players in the community. It shocks me how the Chinese folks priority system 1-5 which was a response to the removal of item feeding and is itself a form of item feeding, has caused "good" players to become more pub star than ever by completely ignoring their team in a 5 man base defense game to hit jungle to the point many don't even come to defend a T3.
Back in the day we knew to fight for towers, there was no backdoor protection or fortify and letting towers go easy leads to losing more often than not even now.
The craziest thing is with good teamwork, you generally, one end games in 25 mins or less needing almost no items or two you get exp and gold aka farming from winning team fights. It is when you can't win a team fight that you go farm the jungle for a BKB or whatever you need to win a team fight. People just don't know how to play this game for the most part.
love your channel dude, please keep making these!
I love these videos so much. Awesome vid, thanks Z!
8:05 thank you man im gonna practice diving fountain on minute -1 thank you!!!
As a support main, you really know a lot more optimisations than a typical carry player in my rank 😂. Just realized how big the knowledge gap alone is between me and immortal support players
Great edits! I was about to click away as this MMR bracket doesn't apply to me, but you made it really entertaining on it's own.
What an amazing video my man! Really appreciate your work. Thanks
I love this segment where he just roasts 100%
Great content zach. Informative and hilarious.
Zquixtoxic is da best 😂
This one was extra spicy and savage thanks zquack.
Love and blessings!
This series is really the best thing ever, congratulations
Thanks for roasting me and pointing out my obessession with mud golems, I learnt so much! Looking back at my replay, I understood stealing enemy's farm is what actually gonna makes me ahead. I thought I was half or 1 item ahead of Void (also gotta check opponent's inventory more often). My lack of map awarness also makes me too defensive which led to not taking objectives nor being with my team at the right time. Now I understand the limit you mentioned, because I never push my limit and see how it is being more aggressive, I always choose to farm passively. Going beyond what I'm comfortable with is what's gonna make me a better player than people in my rank, otherwise I am at where I should be. Thanks again for analysing my replay and hopefully I become smarter than that creepwave!
One of the true-est content creators for this game, keep it up
Your channel is criminally underrated
Omg great vid! I noticed so much more Well edited! Keep it up!
Really great video. Turns out my carry play is my worst win rate position, I 100% am too focused on farming and not contributing.
6:09 This part is killing me 🤣
Great video, thanks for helping us resist the allure of the mud golems 😂
Hi, there is a slight mistake on the slide at 4:25 comparing Javelin and Mithril Hammer. 60*0.3 = 18, not 16. Obviously doesn't change the main message of the slide (i.e. Javelin more effective dmg/cost).
really good video man!
tbf I know you should push aggressively when you can, but plenty of the times you're saying to do that axe and void are alive, two heroes that counter jugg's ability to spin + TP
minimap awareness is your friend. If you're keeping active tabs on the minimap you can pretty accurately assess when it is and isn't safe to push aggressively
Educational and very funny too. the editing is very a cool.
rock golems are like mud golems... but made of rock... 10/10
nice bonus bonus tip!!
Got me so hard.. between taking free tower and hehe mud golem 😂🤣
farming IS contributing for a few reasons.. first if you have a strong player in your lane and you go off into the woods then that team mate is getting all the gold & xp from that lane while you are getting the same if not more from the creeps... next you are collecting runes & tormentor in the process as well as special items.. being a carry hero like drow once you hit level 6 you can hit the woods fairly safely in the first half of the round... however if you have a crap team that just leaves each other for dead then you probably aren't going to win anyway...
Good content thanks for sharing
Incredible video very well made in super informative. Worth a diamond Gollum
Thanks skuiksotiks, i love you..
Carries like this are the bane of competent pub supports. Giving them 20-30 minutes of space only for them to never even do anything.
but zach what if your team never wants to do anything when you get kills. most of the time noone listens to me when im pos 1 and we get kills they just fuck off back to whatever they were doing beforehand
Some opportunities you can look for when you have to do a lot solo, 1) depending how many enemies you killed and where the others are, you can still push up on your own. 2) Many times you can solo push even when the enemy is up based on their positioning 3) When the game gets late enough, eventually winning a teamfight anywhere on the map will let you run to an objective. If your team won't capitalize, you'll just have to play it slow and wait for a good fight in the late game.
Some games are really just lost and out of our control, but we often overestimate how many games are like that. Remember that when your team does stupid stuff, the enemy team is likely to do their own stupid stuff. It balances out over enough games
this video was hilarious and informative!
Hey Z. I really like your videos and breakdowns and i learn a lot from your videos. Do you offer coaching? I dont care how much it costs. I really want you to look at my games because i cant seem to win any and im not sure what i can do better. This is going to sound cringe but im stuck in Guardian and im an offlane/midlane main and i often have top net worth or second highest net worth but still lose games badly. I don't overfarm like in this video and i feel like i need a deep analysis of my gameplay to get better. Do you offer coaching?
Hi! Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad the videos have been helpful. I do offer coaching, you can find more info on Patreon (www.patreon.com/ZQuixotix). Feel free to message me on Discord with any questions. A free alternative is available on my Wednesday Twitch streams where I usually raffle away replay analyses
Javelin tip, we forgot to mention juggs low BAT making it even better than the hammer. It makes me rage so much when I watch 10k streamers make this mistake. The higher level thinking that y’all are capable of, but this goes over everybody’s head.
That moment when he said that sometimes you have join teamfight" tells me that this guy is smurfing Lol
Hey love your videos man. Quick question; What made you choose playing support over other roles?
In lower ranks people just usually stand mid and feeding/letting enemy carry get farmed if they won early game
it's like weekend core player in guardian bracket.they will farm and nvr care about contributing.and the best part is they good at blame other.
THE JOURNEY
Great video, great content
I am continuously catching flak from my teammates as a midlaner for adapting to how my teammates play which is usually just never hitting tower or shoving tower. I'm someone who ends the game with anywhere from 1 death (sometimes) to more commonly 5-6 and sometimes as many as 13 deaths in losing games. In those losing games I'm usually tying the supports for deaths and the pos 1 (or pos 3 who thinks he is the pos 1) ends the game with 5 deaths with 3.0+ KDA but often as much tower damage as both the supports combined. I refuse to not hit tower unless I will feed hard or completely throw the rest of my teammates games by using their fights to defend T1 to push into enemy T2. I've just noticed that when fights are happening on the other side of the map, my teammates are not shoving lane into tower to do tower dmg. So for example I see DK dazzle jakiro and think we won't have too much trouble pushing, I can play Puck this game. Then by 30 minutes my team hasn't damaged the enemy T2 in over 10 minutes and I can see the enemy spectre WK picks have begun to outscale me and my ability to 100-0 waves diminishes and the games pretty much over. I feel like puck is a bad example because I usually make sure I pick something that nukes wave and hits tower solo, but he is a great example for how vulnerable a pick can be to your teammates mistakes.
I hate when my team wins a fight, and then everyone goes to farm jungle.
If you are lossing and doesnt have items its better to farm than push and throw
i often ban jugg so my team not use him. you can counter enemy team, but its really hard to counter allies.
Im archon 5 and i have question sir, that last part where most of them die and pushing t2. My plan for that is to get back cuz i ddnt have ss and i will can farm thier side camp. Cuz there is no way i will fight without ss. I wil go side lane push or side camp of thier nuetrals. Is it bad or good?
match ID: 7518758704
I played Necrophos
I lost my Lane and my teammates refused to help. Avoiding the lane did not work either and by that point Lina was so overfed that we got steamrolled big time. The chat was pretty toxic and I received a 4 hour ban. Where could I have made a difference?
A key difference though is the first game they have void and axe to cancel spin tp while ame have no spin tp cancel.
Sometimes the enemy have silence or instant stuns, which you can't spin for (before manta for silence, or at all for hex/instant stuns). It doesn't matter, all the concepts of this video still apply.
The gist: Most people have no idea about macro, game flow, tempo, and how to play the map. They're here to bash heroes together for 40+ mins, playing team death match.
Yes, I just wanted to throw shade because I'm tired of it.
A pretty accurate shade nevertheless
10:22 lol
I have a question, I play offlane. Shouldn't me as offlane take the "dangerous" farm especially early game?
not necessarily. Taking dangerous farm is preticated on your ability as a hero to safely disengage if you are aggressively moved on by an enemy gank. A mid hero like Puck for example is great at taking dangerous farm once they've maxed their first two spells and have Blink as they can safely nuke out waves and then jaunt backwards to disengage as a natural benefit to their skill combo to clear waves. Offlaners usually want to take space with their supports and then hold that map control so a carry can farm behind; or they want to be the ones who are holding and pushing back tower aggression in areas that aren't safe anymore (such as your safelane tier one or two once a notable amount of the enemy team turn up and it's contestable with your hero skill and item utility). Position 4 can also be a great candidate for taking dangerous farm as they enjoy the gold injection if they aren't punished and if they are, well, it's a support so the risk of gold gained vs. gold lost in bounty and farming time is minimal when compared to a core.
The problem with these 2k games it's always just based on what they FEEL like doing, there's usually no thoughts or logic behind anything they do they will always just fall back to default mode.
I‘m only a 2k pleb, but i gained over 700mmr lately by farming „the right way“ becouse farming „zhe right way“ IS Contributing…if you farm the lane and push it out so your team can focus on ganks, you are contributing. If you are farming next to your team while they push T2 you are close by for a fight AND you are denying farm from the enemy once your team retreats and they try to chase you since they loose time amd farm for chasing you and finding empty camps..so i disagree that farming is not contributing…if you do it the right way and push the roght lanes and farm the right camps you van do so much damage to the enemys and help your team alot..
PS: i‘m saying this before watching the whole video through so i‘m sorry if i repeat what he says.
Pretty good take, but.. muh golems.
Very funny great video
just 2k thought is it still safe to farm aggressive when kunkka alive he can xmark and call back
if you check the video kunkka is missing most of the time even though axe is dead
Kunkka is definitely an extra danger this game! I cut around in this video so it's hard to see, but there were (and will be) opportunities to play more aggressive even against heroes that threaten you. Kunkka can't be off the map forever, so as soon as he shows somewhere, that gives you a window to push out. Also remember that Kunkka will be unlikely to solo kill Jugg, so you can take your best guess at what combination of heroes are required to kill you. If Kunkka is missing, but all the other heroes are somewhere else, that's probably fine for you.
It comes down to reading the map well and being quick to push/hide. Even if he dies a couple times, it comes down to how much he was able to get away with vs getting punished. There's also the option of playing it safe until Juggernaut has Manta, then using the Manta illusions to push lanes/scout for Kunkka while the real Jugg stays out of sight farming the jungle.
Sometimes huge Juggs aren't enough
Guardians on the other hand never contribute in fights, they farm 35 min and then loose to enemy void who always was there when there was a team fight : |
Although his mechanics is obviously not that great, his main problem really is understanding how to apply pressure while farming instead of doing the dreaded afk-farming that have 0 impact.
"sorry guys zquidoaih;gd gave me some bad advice" 🤣
Yeah im in archon 2 and I can't believe how bad people are at this rank. I try to tell my team to play up on the map to take farm after we kill some1 and we are stronger but nooo they think its chernobyl so the second they kill some1 they all retreat back to our side of the river and I posture up there and tell them to come back and then I get killed by like 2 people when we are 5 alive. And they are 2 alive. That should never happen. But people are sooooooooo scared for absolutly no reason. Biggest excuse I see is. We have no vision. Yeah so why don't we just ward it. Why do we have wards in our own jungle when we never go there? Hu?
Can you make some videos for mid thank you
"The river is fire" Dota is a staple of
Hello. I hope I am not too late with the submission.
The match ID was 7574370096 and I was playing Weaver. It was an unranked game in which we seem to have faced an overwhelmingly stronger enemy team which did a lot of unexpected moves, like a gank before minute 0, or a gank on our jungle arriving from between our still-standing T1 and T2 mid. We lost by a landslide, and somehow only I got flamed for our defeat, even though I still had the best score in team and everyone on my side (myself included) was playing sorta badly.
I recognize I've made some pretty bad decisions and joined fights that I had no business of joining, so my question is less like "WFIIA?" and more like "what could I have personally done to stand a better a chance at winning this?".
Thanks for your attention!
OR!
1. match id 7517998892
2. im playing as juggernaut
3. we won 3 lane and preassuring the lane, taking tower etc. but losing the game, is it my fault as an carry or whos fault? and what can I do to win the game
I think ZQ is what Speeed thinks he is 🤷🏼♂️
Match ID: 7541357320
Hero: Wraith King
The scores say a lot, I could have done a lot more ratting, but I was absent until I knew I was strong enough. I play very conservatively in most of my games, farming the needed items before showing up and once I do, I usually win several team fights and get away even though my first life is burned. Please, I beg of you, talk about warding for these guardians and the mentality behind it.
I always thought the pos 4 was supposed to be active and warding aggressively to set up for kills, and then the 5 wards the rest of the game. But this is guardian so I can't really expect too too much, but critical de-wards cost me my second life on occasion 😢
This makes me uncomfortable. Zquitoxtix as a pos 4 player we SHOULD NOT be teaching such basic things to carries. THEY picked the role , THEY took on the responsibility. I think it's insanely unfair to us to make them better when they cannot TAKE advantage of the space. That should be the most basic CORE thing they should be doing, secondly once Item timing is HIT they should be doing plays if not counter playing the enemies. I'm a POS 4 and my Tidehunter POS3 Friend wil always bait out fights at KEY moments with blink and ensure we setup GENERALLY right fights
This ONLY happens in crusaders and legend matches though. I am in the ancient/ divine pool bracket we do avoid these kind of plays, but we make very silly mistakes time to time.
Why did he go manta. It aint a good manta game
This is why I love crusaders, such a fun rank to smurf into.
Crusader is the main bracket many Smurf’s love to play in. Becusse archon bracket they aren’t that noob. lol . Heralds are too noob so it’s not fun
why is this so funny
+1
❤
ZQ becoming toxic :P
ZQuiTOXIC is back >:)
Noice❤
zquishit lmao
God I swear this is legitametly like 80% of core players below 3.5k MMR. They have 0 game sense, and no concept of keeping momentum up after winning a fight/lane. Just running around like a chicken with their head cut off, executing TERRIBLE farming patterns. And that's when they hit you with the "wow no BKB or refresher on pos 5 warlock? reported". Classic.
Or the "No ward report Support' even though they are the ones losing the game.
17:00 this is how trash carry player with plot armor play
hahaha
Hehehe mudgolems
First
7531592567 immortal game. i was the timbersaw and was getting flamed by slardar. i think our safelane was the problem but yet everyone was attacking me in voice chat since i was the lowest mmr
7525966642
im playing lion
hello again, im the pudge you have reviewed before. the crusader pudge with 1000+ mvp. now im legend 2.
still a firm believer of force 50%, when valve want you to win, nomatter how hard you throw, you will win.
in this game, my team have 3 mid with 1 of us (pudge) keep purposely walk to mid tower to throw. I also deny ember runes so he cant refill his bottle. tiny in our team dont have nc item until game end. so whose fault enemies lose this game. they stomp us very hard early game
Thanks
Haha Poor kid got trashed but it was hilarious and well explained!
It's si funny because yesterday i also played Juggernaut, also in crusader (Match ID: 7522105717) but completely aggressive and very close to dying mostly on the early fights, but thanks to that eventually owned and became unstoppable, I not even died once, lol.
Hey dude! I have been watching your videos and have benefitted a LOT both in terms of my enjoyment of the game and winrate! Thanks for making them.
I just had a game that I'm really at a loss for words - I thought I had a very good performance, but I got flamed hardcore (even by someone in my party). They said basically "bro you're the offlane, your build is terrible". Mind you this was from the support silencer who didn't build a single support item.. but other teammates made comments over voice "this LD has no idea how to play" and they also accused me of feeding etc etc. Help?
I'm playing the Lone Druid in match 7531864532 and I think I did good or very good:
- got kills in lane
- dominated lane (despite an early misclick where i fed one kill)
- pushed lane when i needed to heal, my laning partner criticized me for this but i think he doesn't understand how my hero works, and honestly i felt his laning impact was very low, no pulls, completely ceded the sidecamps to brewmaster
- really great early timings
- helped take early towers, used my ult for this really effectively i think
- aggressively pushed lanes and took farm from the enemy jungle
- itemized to deal with the massive amount of slows on the enemy team
You explained the concepts so clearly! Could you please do this replay? 7520775253. Played brood, seems like my naga wasn’t pressuring the map and wasn’t sure how to go high ground
IF YOU HAVE ONE!!! HAHAHA
Match ID: 7647055108. I was playing dazzle pos5 and i had some mishaps but overall i think i did okay. We lost the game and most of my team blamed me for losing. But i think our carry made many weird moves that alone that made him die. In game the pos1 constantly pings me and says im trash but doesnt tell what he wants me to do instead. I would appreciate some feedback and some good roasting on this match so i could be more helpful for the team as pos5 and make the match better.
Hello ZQuixotix
It would be great if u can review my game with match id 7528988810
I played Grimstroke on the match, we were winning on the early on, but we lost the game with enemy team comeback.
I spotted that I was really poor as a winning position. and Sniper doesnt have the damage to deal with the enemies.
Many thanks.
