It's really important to realize that Scott isn't a good person. He's deeply flawed, callous and self-centered. Throughout the movie he learns lessons and becomes a better person, but even by the end of the movie he still isn't a "good" person, just a decent(ish) person that is still growing. This is part of why is his Nega Persona is a reasonable and chill guy.
Yup. They only had so much time in the movie so it makes sense that they had to move things along as quickly as they did, but the point of both Ramona and Scott being shitty people getting a second chance at being not shitty people doesn't get enough emphasis as a result. I read the book after I saw the movie and it really helped clarify things.
@@kenjutsukata1o1yeah basically did the same thing where I watch this movie and thought they were Oddities to it. And after I learned it was based on the comic book and made it a point to read the comics. And if you read the comics you know that the one who is done dirtiest was Kim
Yeah I wish they would have done a bit more to show scott changing. But I actually really enjoyed the ending cause it showed scott accepting his flaws and moving on to become a better person.
Right? The whole movie basically just follows the villains as the main characters. Scott is a groomer and a creep, and Ramona is a manipulative abuser. Literally all of her exes are just people she fucked over trying to warn Scott about how toxic she is
Technically not a cover, Metric wrote the song for the movie and Beck wrote the Sex Bob-omb songs, there are versions available with Beck doing vocals and the Metric version of Blacksheep
One of my favorite movies. Edgar Wright really put so much into packing so many Easter eggs and small details into every scene. I also adore Mary Elizabeth Winstead in this. Her exasperation at every dumbass actions and words kills me. Everyone in the movie is great and just makes it such a trip. Glad you guys are reacting to this.
In the comic book it's stated that Scott is labeled as "The best fighter in the province" that's why he's taking out the evil exes pretty good. He once fought an entire school.
Wasn't that his imagination and all of the guys he beat up didn't even wanna fight him and he imagined the guy took Kim even though he wasn't a bad person I think he either liked Kim or was dating her but Scott just stole her
I definitely relate to Bryce that it feels like watching a fever dream. I didn't appreciate this movie's humor the first time I saw it when it came out, but it's grown on me in the times I've rewatched it over the years. Is it just me or has this been the best Movie Week yet? Your reactions are always the best!
I remember trailers for it and thought it was interesting, but never saw it in theaters, and I regret that soooo much to this day i watched it probably late 2011, and it quickly became my favorite movie of all time, and I now rewatch at least once a year
When this came back to theaters for a weekend a few years back, Knives' "too cool for you anyway" send-off earned serious applause. She is. Also, too young.
Yea but.. everyone who says Scott’s some original kinna scumbag is such a tool. Not condoning his behavior but it’s not that simple.. he is sorta going through something where he’s absentminded.. an trying to find himself. An so while that doesn’t condone it it makes it so it’s not like he’s coherent an operating at full capacity while he’s juggling two girls. Yes it sucks.. obviously.. but Scott’s not a total asshole because of it.. he was an asshole for doing it but it’s not a coffin nail to em.. like if ur half way invested in something just sorta floating by an then u wake up an say “wait what am I doing?” Which he did. Some don’t.. so.. It’s just insane to freak out about it without taking that into account. That that is a small fragment of the whole story that’s happening

@@LadyPumpkin204 I consider her not ending up with Scott actually happy ending for her.
for those that didn't read the comics, even though everything seems random in this story, it's all cohesively tied around the theme of baggage, moving on, relationships, coming to terms with personal mistakes and a lot more. we start out the story with Scott one year after getting his heart broken by his ex (Envy) and has recently begun dating a highschooler, a relationship that to him seems just so easy and carries no-baggage and super casual. and then he meets Ramona, a girl just riddled with baggage and mistakes, but because of pure coincidence, attracts the attention of Scott. and for the 6 books in the Scott pilgrim story, we explore Scott and Ramona's history, with them coming to terms with their past mistakes even though they try to run away from it (like Ramona) or keep it out of their mind entirely (like scott did), we also get to explore their relationships with their friends, exes, and the people around them, and by the end they learn and become better people, or at least try and see if they can become better people now free of the baggage of their past. despite the fun and goofy nature of the comic and the movie, deep inside is a lot of heart and it's one of my favorite books.
Seems like the one who learned the least in the movie was Scott's sister. Butts into brothers deal, then bails when he tries to go to her, then finally gives good advice but still has the phone call with a put-down(unsure still if the call is about scott). That still bugs me
@@3agl33y369 true, but to be fair even in the book, Stacey (named after the books' writer's real life sister) doesn't really do much. she's more like a recurring side character unlike Kim, Stephen and Knives who are more prominent in the story.
@@RaixsOreh true, it just bothers no one else seemed to get almost everyone is kind of crap, it's easy to shit on Scott since we're following him, but one or two get a pass cause people found the character funny or they "relate" with them.
The reason Scott got on with Nega Scott is because Scott isn't particularly "Good" or "Evil", he's just kinda ok. He's in the middle, so his 'inverse' is also in the middle.
This is my favorite movie of all time. The humor is so unique, the editing is awesome, the cast is phenomenal. Ik all the lines and I even have the soundtrack on vinyl. After I watched it a few times I started to realize that Gidion and Ramona’s relationship was one of emotional abuse bc he would string her along even though he didn’t truly care about her and since she’s always been the one to dump people she can’t understand why she goes back to him. It’s just an amazing movie! I saw it in theaters for the 10 year anniversary and I highly recommend it, it’s one of those movies that needs to be seen on the big screen, especially the battle of the bands.
The graphic novel has a lot more wholesome moments that the movie simply doesn't show for time reasons, I'd have to recommend it. But the movie is still amazing, they did an awesome job and they really nailed the feel of the characters and the world
The reason why it’s so jumpy is that they made it true to the graphic novel. They styled it so that each shot feels like a comic panel. So it feels like a live motion of the graphic novels. This movie is still ahead of its time. Sin city as well. I hope we get more adaptations like this in the future.
I'm rockin wit Rob this entire film. I can tell he likes this film lol I love Scott Pilgrim. This film is a lot but like in the best way. It's kinda like a waaaaaaay goofier video game version of Everything Everywhere All At Once 🤣 Also Michael Cera actually did a lot of his own stunts. There's behind the scenes footage I believe.
I was so excited for this when it came out. Looked amazing. The director didn't shut up about it on twitter, every tweet was promotion for it, reviews... When I finally got to watch in the cinema I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped. Watched it when I came out on dvd and appreciated it so much more. It's a favourite now.
My film teacher had us watch this for an assignment and I was literally like Bryce the entire time. I feel like you need a briefing before watching this movie 😂
The Young Neil thing is starting to fly over people's heads, and I feel so old. It's supposed to be kinda telegraphed by the frontman of Sex Bob-Omb being named Stephen Stills, and Young Neil, if you are aware of that part of music history, is a play on Neil Young (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, which eventually dropped the Young).
I’m so happy y’all are reacting to this! It’s one of my favorite movies and basically shaped my personal style. Ramona’s actually the reason I started dyeing my hair at 15 💕🖤
I was like 19 when this came out and went to see it with my first love. This soundtrack is the absolute sound of my youth along with Juno ❤️ I'm so glad you watched it, brought back some wonderful memories 😍 It's absolutely mad the first time but it just keeps getting better! Also.. if you haven't seen it, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is amazing. Weird as hell but one for Bryce.. it's a right tearjerker!
I love this movie, and yeah, it can be really jarring on a first watch. I didn't read the books but a friend did, which is how I know this next bit I'll tell you, as it helped me to contextualize the movie and meld the world of the movie with our world (because it is set in our world, early 2000s ish, as it would fall under the genre of realistic fantasy or magical realism); The reason no one of the main cast is really surprised by the game/comic book type abilities of people and similar weirdness is because Scott has done this before: he had to fight for and rescue Kim from I think demons (don't remember that exactly). Scott and other characters have abilities that they've always have and never noticed, and they're life is like a real-life video game. Ramona can travel through interdimensional doors and pathways, one of which happens to go through Scott's head. Her bag is an interdimensional doorway, hence her pulling out the giant hammer. Julie (Aubrey Plaza), she's a witch. When she's mad at Scott at the party, all that stuff around is actually happening - the lights cutting out, the way they zoom in on Scott and everything in the background fades to black for a bit, that's actually happening to him. I probably have missed some stuff or explained something the wrong way, as again, I never read them myself, but hope this helps a bit.
Not exactly true. Everything in the comics is shown through Scott's warped perception of reality, some character even says he may have brain damage. Anyway, in terms of interdimensional doorways and super powers this isn't relevant, it's more likely more true than not. But many other things are false perceptions, specifically related to the friendships and relationships Scott has. For example, he didn't rescue Kim from evil high schoolers, that's a story he made up in his head, the true ot at least Kim's version of that story is he just got into a fight with her boyfriend and was overall a bad guy in that event. In his universe Scott is the hero and never does any mistake, but the comics and the last volume in particular make it clear he has been a huge asshole and we aren't seeing the full picture through his eyes.
@@aliar86 thanks for the insight! Honestly, makes me want to read it. I only ever got pieces of information through my friend that did read it. I'm wondering whether he told me that part and I don't remember it or if he didn't tell me that part.
You guys are killing it! If I could make a movie suggestion, I'd love it if you would consider reacting to Kick-Ass. It's a terrific film with a wild sense of humor.
This is legit my favorite movie I am so glad you guys reacted to it. Legit this movie is weird but it's genuinely the best movie ever. The scribble drawing of Ramona was actually drawn by Bryan Lee O'Malley who is the guy who created Scott Pilgrim! The comic was created in tandem to the movie and then it was a video game! It's a pretty awesome series! The game is so fun and the comic is so outlandish. And Brie Larson is actually supposed to look like Misa Amane from Death Note! While Envy in the comics is a red head they didn't like her with a red wig! So they went with her being blonde instead!
bryce looked like he was gonna explode into coins the whole time. lol.. it's not for everyone, but i love this movie! it's like a comic book on crack come to life 🥴
You did a good job of hitting all my favorite moments in this movie and possibly the only reactors to include Aubrey saying "have you tried the section marked "clash at demon head"" and for that I love your reaction the most. Also, Zuff: You don't have to worry about gum in your system for 7 years cuz that has been busted. It takes the same amount of time as your other food. I used to eat gum too. My favorite was Juicy Fruit.
A big thing missing from the Matthew Patel fight is a single line from Kim where you find out that Scott is "The best fighter in the peninsula." Simple but they shoulda kept it in.
I've been meaning to see this movie for a long time, glad to watch it for the first time with y'all. And glad to say I was also just as confused and tripped out as Bryce :)
One of my favorite movies ever. First time I watched this with a friend of my mine (we're black) and when "nega scott" popped up, we couldn't stop laughing because it sounded like they said "nigga scott".
53:47 if you notice, the bonus numbers for self-respect were higher than those of the love blade. That's the moral. Loving yourself is more reliable than loving someone else.
Sex Bob-omb's songs were written by Beck. Also whenever you see the moon there's an actual hole in it from where Todd punched it. The yeti they used to fight the twins was an embodiment of Scott's jealousy - a literal 'Green eyed monster'.
I dunno if it’s been requested before but after hearing that not everyone has seen Avatar:The Last Airbender, yall should totally put that on your list for the future. It would be so awesome. Loved this reaction as always!
Something I noticed while watching is that during the bus ride with Scott and Ramona because he already had feelings for her the lights in the background are on the shape of hearts and on her side they are in the shape of x’s and eventually turn to hearts
The song Envy sings is actually by the Canadian band Metric and that's their singer dubbed over in the movie but on RUclips you can find Bree Larson singing it and she's actually really good too
Someone probably said it, but they filmed two endings. One with him ending up with knives and the one with Ramona. Also nega Scott is nice/cool bc he’s the opposite of the jerk that Scott is throughout the movie
I said this on another video but I hope you guys can react to movies from other countries one day bc its insane how many countries have their own cinematic universes and since you guys already react to Hollywood, British and Korean movies I hope we can go more international one day! I would love to see that happen 😁
Rob saying he still listen to "Black Sheep" (the song performed by The Clash at Demonhead with Envy) made my day cause I do the same! But what version? Film cover with Brie or the original by Metric? I need to know🔥 Also I agree with Bryce, some fights (especially the last vs Gideon!) are a bit overwhelming but I still love this film with my whole heart! Great reaction guys💙💙💙💙
@@Myaccount923 as a Metric fan I love and listen both especially because Scott Pilgrim introduce me to this amazing band so Black Sheep has a special place in my heart ✌🏻
I listen to black sheep all the time and I dressed up as envy last Halloween! This movie is a fever dream but so fun! Loved the reaction 🤘 Also hearing that Zuff and Bryce haven’t seen Avatar the last airbender… shocking! Y’all need to react to that! One Best tv shows of all time!!
Zuff needs that mic compressed in editing lmao I had my speakers almost explode when he yelled into the mic and the rest of the video/mics are so quiet XD Great movie choice, one of my faves ever.
If you have the dvd, you can cycle through the commentary tracks from your remote and there is a hidden track where Bill hader as the "announcer" narrates the whole movie
This movie is bizarre, brilliant, and hilarious. Excellent concept and writing, crazy effects, and an amazing cast (including the absolute Goddesses Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, and the exquisite Mary Elizabeth Winstead 😍). Edgar Wright is a damn Genius.
This movie's visual effects are really fun to spot out. Here's a subtle one: when Scott and Ramona are riding the bus away from the Rockit, the lens glares look different when focused on Scott and Ramona - hearts and Xs, respectively. After Ramona confirms that they're dating, her lens glares also become hearts.
Remember watching this movie with a couple of buddies in high school. I was hella into it. After the movie my buddies and I were on our way out and one of them says bursts out laughing, “What the hell did I just watch?!”
I’ve seen all these movies but I failed to realized Ramona is the same girl from final destination 3, sky high, 10 cloverfield lane, birds of prey, and Kate on Netflix
I recently started reading the comics and the relationships of characters in them are so much better (makes sense, cause they had to fit it into the movie). Wallace is such a cool guy and even more supportive of Scott in the comics, Kim and Ramona are pretty chill with each other and actually interact, just in general really great comics.
This movie is why I hate it when people say you can't make a live action anime. This is exactly how you would do it. Don't try to change things for a broad audience or try and make things more lifelike and realistic. Just translate the craziness of the source material 1:1 and let it speak for itself.
💯 they take all the magic outta the shows and Disney cartoons with the live action realism crap. We could've gotten so much more if the creators were allowed to take risks and get imaginative like this
I've watched this movie probably over a dozen times and I only just got the joke of showing Wallace when they sing "You've just got to turn the knob" during the first battle (knob is British slang for a penis, and the director Edgar Wright is British)
Glad you enjoyed this. Saw this in theaters blind with no knowledge of the comic books. Fell in love the second I heard Legend of Zelda music. Zuff, you're adorable.

One of my all time favorite movies. I can't get over Envy Adam's cover of "Black Sheep" it's my favorite song to sing acoustically.
bryce looked like he was gonna explode into coins the whole time. lol.. it's not for everyone, but i love this movie! it's like a comic book on crack come to life 🥴
You did a good job of hitting all my favorite moments in this movie and possibly the only reactors to include Aubrey saying "have you tried the section marked "clash at demon head"" and for that I love your reaction the most.
The roommate is Kieran Culken , MacCauley’s younger brother, who is making a killing on the show “Succession”
I've been meaning to see this movie for a long time, glad to watch it for the first time with y'all. And glad to say I was also just as confused and tripped out as Bryce :)
You should watch it in full on your own! You will definitely see more funny stuff 😄
The way you guys say "ToronTOE" kills me. We say "Torrono" 🤣
"Your BF's about to get F'd in the B!!!!!"
Def one of my favorite lines of all time hahahaha
One of my favorite movies ever. First time I watched this with a friend of my mine (we're black) and when "nega scott" popped up, we couldn't stop laughing because it sounded like they said "nigga scott".
God I love this movie lol. Wallace always makes me laugh!
one of the best movies to watch while tripping
Unsure if it's already mentioned, & in the spirit of trivia, the actress playing Knives is actually older than Cera by 4 years.
53:47 if you notice, the bonus numbers for self-respect were higher than those of the love blade. That's the moral. Loving yourself is more reliable than loving someone else.
I love how dude in the middle was trying so hard to act like he ain’t seen the movie lol
Katara's voice actress is also one of Ramona's seven evil exes.
i also listen to 'black sheep' unironically, and regularly. such a fun song, and such a fun movie. thanks for doing this reaction
My favorite part is him jumping out the window🤣🤣🤣
Brie Larson ,Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aubrey plaza are the only reason why I love this movie soooo much XD 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Something I noticed while watching is that during the bus ride with Scott and Ramona because he already had feelings for her the lights in the background are on the shape of hearts and on her side they are in the shape of x’s and eventually turn to hearts
The song Envy sings is actually by the Canadian band Metric and that's their singer dubbed over in the movie but on RUclips you can find Bree Larson singing it and she's actually really good too
I was so confused when watching this movie for the first time. It was so unique and feverdream-ish that I didn't know what to think. XD
Self respect is definitely more important than love. Have to learn to love and respect yourself before you can love someone else
This is one of my fav movies! :) love that you're watching this!
Brie larson as envy Adams was one of my major bisexual awakening moments, her singing black sheep was a MOMENT
Someone probably said it, but they filmed two endings. One with him ending up with knives and the one with Ramona.
Also nega Scott is nice/cool bc he’s the opposite of the jerk that Scott is throughout the movie
loved the reaction but can't stop thinking that we straight up got the rowdyruff boys with you three in green, red and blue 😂
I said this on another video but I hope you guys can react to movies from other countries one day bc its insane how many countries have their own cinematic universes and since you guys already react to Hollywood, British and Korean movies I hope we can go more international one day! I would love to see that happen 😁
‘Black sheep’ is also one of my favorite parts of this film. I listen to it all the time
Fun fact: The castle where he fights Lucas Lee is the same castle where they filmed X-Men! That's the X-Manor! It's in the commentary for the movie.
Rob saying he still listen to "Black Sheep" (the song performed by The Clash at Demonhead with Envy) made my day cause I do the same! But what version? Film cover with Brie or the original by Metric? I need to know🔥
Also I agree with Bryce, some fights (especially the last vs Gideon!) are a bit overwhelming but I still love this film with my whole heart!
Great reaction guys💙💙💙💙
I love black sheep and listen to the Brie Larson’s version because I love her voice!
@@mckinneymartin3986 she really has a beautiful voice! 🔥
I listen to the movie version it’s so good 😭 and rob is so relatable for saying that
@@Myaccount923 as a Metric fan I love and listen both especially because Scott Pilgrim introduce me to this amazing band so Black Sheep has a special place in my heart ✌🏻
I listen to black sheep all the time and I dressed up as envy last Halloween! This movie is a fever dream but so fun! Loved the reaction 🤘
Also hearing that Zuff and Bryce haven’t seen Avatar the last airbender… shocking! Y’all need to react to that! One Best tv shows of all time!!
My first time watching this and honestly like Bryce said, idk wtf they got going on in Toronto 😭🤣🤣🤣 this movie was so trippy but loved it
This movie remains as one of the few I come back to watch almost every year when I get to! I'm proud there are others out there like me!
Bro in the green on the right looks like he's on another planet 😂
Rob the song you're rocking out to at 35:25 is "Black Sheep" by Metric and it is in fact a banger lol
Yeah first time I heard it I really liked it
i also listen to brie larson’s version of black sheep unironically
This is one my favorite movies that I can't explain why it's a favorite. Edgar Wright just does it for me for some reason.
Yeeeassss. This is my favorite movie literally of all time. I loved the graphic novels and this movie directed by Edgar is a flippin masterpiece.
Ahh im so glad I randomly found your channel. It’s great getting to see these movies again after so long and I love seeing your reactions 👏🏻
The song Scott wrote for Ramona is actually a song by Beck, He's actually only singing the chorus 😄
Ramona is Mary Elizabeth Winstead, aka Royal Pain from Sky High!
Remember watching this movie with a couple of buddies in high school. I was hella into it. After the movie my buddies and I were on our way out and one of them says bursts out laughing, “What the hell did I just watch?!”
Omg i'm so hyped for this
One of my all time favourites ❤ also the song Ramona. Loved that you guys watched it, thanks so much 🙏
First video from you guys that i'm watching :) Your reactions were cool and chill.
Also Knives was a true MVP, best character in the movie imo
I’ve seen all these movies but I failed to realized Ramona is the same girl from final destination 3, sky high, 10 cloverfield lane, birds of prey, and Kate on Netflix
This is my actual favourite film ever, It's so good
I recently started reading the comics and the relationships of characters in them are so much better (makes sense, cause they had to fit it into the movie). Wallace is such a cool guy and even more supportive of Scott in the comics, Kim and Ramona are pretty chill with each other and actually interact, just in general really great comics.
Is it just me or is Bryce looking super buff?
I'm from Toronto its like this
i think that was the point of knives to be a bit cringe cause she’s so young 😭 he just had zero business being that grown with an underage girl lmaoo
"i just don't know whats ever happening in this movie" is such a universal experience when watching this movie for the first time
One of my favourite movie’s & the soundtrack is amazing 🤍
Every movie by Edgar Wright is nuts.
This movie is why I hate it when people say you can't make a live action anime. This is exactly how you would do it. Don't try to change things for a broad audience or try and make things more lifelike and realistic. Just translate the craziness of the source material 1:1 and let it speak for itself.
💯
they take all the magic outta the shows and Disney cartoons with the live action realism crap. We could've gotten so much more if the creators were allowed to take risks and get imaginative like this
The vocals for Clash at Demonhead were done by Metric and their lead singer, which is why it goes.
me and my little sister LOVEEEE this movie bro, i swear we've watched it 100 times and could watch it 1000 more 💀
Netflix just announced an anime with all the original cast.
the comics are some of my all time favourites and if you loved he movie you should definitely check them out
I've watched this movie probably over a dozen times and I only just got the joke of showing Wallace when they sing "You've just got to turn the knob" during the first battle (knob is British slang for a penis, and the director Edgar Wright is British)
Glad you enjoyed this. Saw this in theaters blind with no knowledge of the comic books. Fell in love the second I heard Legend of Zelda music. Zuff, you're adorable.
oh my gosh this is my favourite Edgar wright movie. Transitions alone are freaking awesome . So underrated
I remember over 10 years ago one summer they had this movie on replay on the free movie channel, i feel Iike I’ve memorized the whole movie 😂
I saw an original Puck Man arcade machine at a NH campground in the 80s. (I dismissed it at the time as a knock off.) The P was indeed vandalized.
