I loved playing Ken in the SF6 OB. This video had information I didn't learn or know while playing in the open beta. Thank you, but it is very sad that the OB has already ended.
It's so good to see a beta character guide that isn't "here's 7 over the top double drive rush combos for you even though you still haven't found the block button" It feels good when someone walks you through the simple parts of the game plan, what hit I want to aim for and how to get it
I’ve been looking for a Ken guide like this for ages now. I’m a newb coming from GGS Leo and Ken was immediately appealing to me but have been struggling with how to actually learn to play him, only finding combo vids. Thanks so much for this guide - instant sub.
Bro…. I’ve literally been looking for a video on how to create combo strings since the Demo & Beta came out, and you are the ONLY ONE I’ve seen explain how it works. I’m still getting my feet wet in the FGC. Take this subscription, my G.
Really good explanation on the frame data and how to achieve some sort of optimization, I'd still need some time figuring out how to use better the frame data bar to figure combos. But yeah, the best thing for me was your inshight on how to pressure and frame trap since the mediums are soo slow. Great Vid
The bar is a visual frame data tool. So it shows you what the move looks like rather than numbers. Each square represents a "state" of the moves animation
The first 9 minutes is a great primer for SF6 in general! I'm still looking for my main in SF6, I'm really liking Jamie right now. But I'll be looking forward to more SF6 content from you
First off, I just wanna say that this is a useful guide and I'm definitely gonna take things from it when I play. There's stuff here I didn't know or didn't consider from my limited time in the open beta, but I know so much is subject to change for the full release version which we know will be much updated. Now, I also have a little bit of an interesting personal story to tell, if you'd like. Years ago, like 6 years ago, my friend got me into seriously learning traditional fighters after a casual conversation about Street Fighter. We started with 3rd Strike, and I felt like learning Ken. (Because Daigo parry.) After learning the basics, he convinced me to get Street Fighter V, 'cause it was the new one. And I picked Ken as my choice to learn the game with. And one of the very first things he sent me to help improve was one of your guides. Now, I've since branched off from Ken in basically every SF, I play Dee Jay in Super Turbo, Makoto in 3rd Strike, Evil Ryu in USFIV, and I had an interest in Urien and Akira in V. In 6 I'm looking to main Jamie, but Ken will always remain a pocket of mine in every SF and I spent a considerable amount of time with him in the open beta. And it's funny to realize I now have the knowledge and tools to come to some of the same conclusions and strategies detailed here, when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing all the way back then. But your Ken guides were always a point for me to jump off for learning and improving by myself. I can't wait to learn just about everything I can about this character in the coming weeks, as well as seeing what all the Ken players are up to. And as always, thanks for the guide!
Great video ! I would like to see a part 2 whenever u can with combos and more Info about dragonlash follow ups and things of that nature. I know you said your interest is low in SF now but I really love how you easily you explain things and you are a joy to watch
@@RushG anytime rush , glad to see the videos tbh, didnt think u would do them, so its really appreciated. hope all is well otherwise outside of sfv/6 my friend!
This video is fantastic, id honestly break the start if the video with the frame data explanation into another video, it was super useful for players on any character!
Here's the thing though. On a punish like this, you could simply do crouching fierce punch followed by the critical art and get 53% damage AND you get to keep all of your drive meter. Obvs 58% is better, but Scaling is crazy.
Thanks for the tips. I finally understand the strings. But I'm still having trouble using the light attack strings. And just wanted to know how to survive being cornered. I usually having trouble with fast characters like cammy, ken, Juri etc. They always corner me and I'm not winning any light attack combo strings from them. The moment I'm cornered I lose.
Go in practice mode and learn the range of your character.. learn how to start combos with crotch light into super combos. With every punish use a combo that chains into a super combo and when in close quarters start combos with Light, never heavy. Learn all these and you'll always win.
Cr. MK > drive rush > Cr. HP also doesn’t need counterhit to combo. I think you said you needed counterhit for that to work, that’s why you were using cr. Mp after the drive rush without counterhit
I'm just gonna wait for the full release. The balance changes are probably gonna be big with the addition of the rest of the cast. We couldn't even perfect parry > drive rush like you can in the demo.
System wise the PP into DR was the only thing missing. Ken himself may change for sure but I can't imagine there will be massive differences regarding his approach
15:20 You mention OD fireball +2 on block , iirc it is -2. After chinbuster on-block, I always do HK hop kick to steal turn when they expecting OD fireball.
Can you please explain how to drive rush from kens ducking medium kick that is the only move im having trouble with in trials. I can do it from his jab, standing heavy and medium but not crouching medium kick. I input the down medium. Then quickly activate drive rush with O/ Triangle then forward forward but it doesn’t register as I activated it quick enough
Does anyone know what causes the darker red flames to activate on Kens special moves sometimes? I’ve done it a few times on accident but I haven’t been able to figure out how or why it happens.
Does anyone know if counterhit st. Lp will combo into cr. MK or st. Mp? It says on supercombo wiki it combos into cr. Mp but it doesn’t say anything about cr. MK or st. Mp. Also after drive rush does st. Lp > st. Mk > chin buster combo?
Counter hit stand LP won't combo into CR MK. It's. It plus enough. Punish counter Stand LP will though The combo routes and rules in general are very different in this game compared to SFV. Particularly when you throw Drive Rush into the mix
So all you have to do is M H delay the run then M again? For all combos you want to do it that way ? I thought you just MH immediately run cancel I was always wondering why it wouldn’t connect when I try to do it. Or try Crouch L it wouldn’t work
Hey rush thanks for this guide. Im having trouble canceling jab into SU/CA like you did at 11:55 i feel like jab is too fast for me to buffer a QCF QFC + P/k how do you guys do this? Im on pad btw
I'd suggest breaking combos down into segments first. So I'd just try doing jab into CA to begin with. Then try adding the LK, Jab then CA. That said you can also do lights into DP then into CA. This is actually a lot easier IMO as you can do Forward, QCF > P. QCF > P. The DP input is used to also produce the CA input (overlaps). With anything execution wise you do need to focus on accuracy AND muscle memory to master these techniques. I do combos thousands of times, over periods of time to get things perfect
@@RushG oh yea jab into dp xx CA is super easy. Combos for me are easy in general. the only thing im having problems with is I can't do jab, jab into CA( good for beating DI) the window is too fast for QCF QCF
