Instant Pot pasta is a life-saver on busy weeknights. Instead of waiting for water to come to a boil on your stove top, or watching to make sure that the pasta doesn't boil over with starchy water, you can just add the pasta and water to your pressure cooker, press a button, and WALK AWAY.
It's not necessarily done any faster than cooking it on your stove, but you'll feel like you have extra time on your hands because you don't have to wait in the kitchen to make sure everything okay.
How Much Water To Use: I typically use 5 and 1/2 cups of water per pound of pasta. The full tutorial with printable recipe card can be found here: detoxinista.com/instant-pot-p...

Semi-helpful. Most important elements are amount of water to use, minutes to cook and Natural and Quick Release times.
Who else in quarantine watching this video? 🙋♂️
This was great, been searching for "what does it mean when my instant pot says burn?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Penaniel Foremost Primacy - (do a google search )?
It is a good one off product for discovering how to use great pot recipes to make a delicious meal minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.
Right here 🙋♀️
Using the short pasta like penne I suggest with the 3 min cooking time to quick release after 5 min instead of 10 min otherwise the pasta gets overcooked
I just followed the instructions in this video and made perfectly cooked spaghetti in my instant pot. Thank you so much. 🙂
How much water do we add for each type of pasta? That DOES make a difference.
Just happened upon you when looking for "how to cook plain pasta in the Instant Pot." LOVE you...lol
Can't believe how fortunate I am to be here & see your video. Thank you so so much. Of course I subbed

This is so helpful- thank you!!!
thanks for the video...look forward to seeing your recipes!..how do you change it from "less, normal and more"?
What is the point of this recipe when she doesn't mention the amount of liquid etc. Lol.
I use 5 1/2 cups of water per pound of pasta. The full tutorial with printable recipe card can be found here: detoxinista.com/instant-pot-pasta/
@@DetoxinistaRecipes 5 1/2 cups lol do you mean 2 cups and a half ?
I was wondering the exact same thing.
@@mzony2005 No, 5 and a half cups.
Detoxinista thanks 🙏. Perhaps pin this?
Girl, love the detail!
Did I miss how much water?
Don't think she ever said. But it's generally 1 cup water to every 4 oz of pasta
Unless making pasta in the pot I add enough water to cover because I’ll drain them afterwards.

👋🏼 What a beautiful Lasagna! I can’t believe you make that in the instant pot. Ive really been enjoying watching your videos. You’re channel has so much to offer. ❤️This looks delicious and your clear presentation makes it look so easy. ❄️I am definitely going to try and make this but modified for my families dietary needs. Wow! I wish you much success with your channel. 🧑🍳You are very talented. I also make cooking videos and I just love that we can all learn from each other! 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing your skill with us.
I made this with bow tie pasta and fusilli. They both turned out perfectly, which actually surprised me. The fusilli really foamed up, though.
Hi what is the water to spaghetti ratio if not using sauce? Is it also still 4 mins with whole wheat pasta too?
mine has no options next to the release valve
I have a really big pressure cooker, if I wanted to make 2 pounds of pasta instead of 1, would I need 6 cups of water? Does it cook the same amount of time or more?
Great Videos, i love your website, life changing for me and my family . can't say thanks enough
Perfect size for party of 8 or just 2. Very cool features, very sturdy.
What is the maximum pasta you could cook at once? 3/4 full including liquid? I am cooking ziti for 35 people and have an 8 qt pressure cooker. Thanks all.
Yes I agree how about some measurements!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
HOW MUCH WATER!
Thanks for all the tips on gluten free! Yes. More starch release on gf.
It depends what your gf pasta is made from to determine cooking time as well. Straight rice pasta takes much less time, while corn pasta needs more time.
It gets expensive for gf pasta. So I think I will expert time with smaller pasta quantity.
Foaming, etc. Good ideas 5o not clog up my IP with quick release.
Hi, I received my instant pot yesterday so this was my first use with food. I did what you said and set my stopwatch to see how long it would cook in all. It just kept on spewing steam and when I checked it was 26.5 mins. So I turned it off and let it sit for eight mins. It was almost nuacht. What went wrong?
Everything was wrong
Put your instant pot into trash and start to cook normally l.
Just ut pasta in boiling salted water for 10 minutes.
Buy a ready sauce and use it
Simple!
I neede to know the pasta and water ratio
how much water for gluten free elbow ?
Hi, every time I make rice it seems to come out all sticky even Basmati in my instant pot. What am I doing wrong? I do equal water with rice and cook on manual pressure high for 6-8 mins and let the pressure decrease naturally. If anyone knows or has tips? I'd appreciate it.
Do you rinse the rice until the water runs clear first? I've heard that can help. I only cook for 4 minutes at high pressure for white rice.
Add how much water for spaghetti noodles?
5.5 cups of water per pound of pasta. The full recipe and tips can be printed off here for reference: detoxinista.com/instant-pot-pasta/
Forget this way! Put pasta in salted boiling water for 10 minutes and the result will be completely better.
If you have time to download to prepare the sauce, prepare it in a standard way (separate from pasta). If you wantv o cook fast just buy ready sauce.
I think you dont like to share the fine details with us.
Thankyou I like your recipes 😚 make sense to watch you
The best way to eat sheet!
i just use saute on 10 minutes and ta dah! i dont get why would i use presure cooking, its a lot more time and same flavour
@eduardo rojas do you keep the lid off?
@@satatik21 Yes!
If you go to her link, she says 5 1/2 cups of water and natural release. Too much water. I had to drain the pasta and it was a little overcooked. Maybe 4 cups would work better.
I got me Farberware pressure cooker.
Never knew about pot in pot
I can't stop imagining a poor old Italian man screaming at the screen: "Whadda you doin? Oh no! Where she puttin' dat pasta water?!"
Will this work for ninja foodi?
Best video on this subject I’ve seen. Any tips on cooking it pot in pot method?
I haven't made a video for that yet, but here's a tutorial and some tips for things that can cook together: detoxinista.com/pot-in-pot-instant-pot/
Extremely interesting (and helpful!) Who woulda' thought you can cook Aldente' in '0' time set !
%'-P almost oxymoronic, yet the steam in the count up when sat in the steam bath permeated it though.
Thankyou
:-)
this is the longest 4 minute video ever
How much water?
Can Beefaroni be cooked in a pressure cooker?
Lady can you please get to the point. How much Pasta and how much water and then what are the pressure settings ? Please be specific. 1. ) you are too fast . 2.) Give us the details. Thanks
🤣🤣🤣
I love the instant pot, but I don't see any advantage using it for pasta, the stove top seems a better method.
I agree. I keep searching for dif ways, but can't bring myself to do it. I don't want the texture of mushy canned spaghetti 😅
Finally a good comment!
Great job! You explained it so well and I appreciate your excellent video quality as well. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback!
Explanation is maybe ok, but this is an insult to pasta. Poor Italy!
Just add water. Are we supposed to guess how much .
question, whats the water to pasta ratio ? How many cups of water per 100 gram pasta?
Sounds like a new skill I don’t need. My pasta is ready in 15 minutes flat. No guessing.
Sometimes the simple old school ways are the best. Not a big deal to stir it a couple times and check it’s done-ness to make sure it’s perfect every time.
I love the I-pot for lots of stuff. Just not pasta.
Gluten Free Pasta - 0 minutes, allow 8 minutes to release pressure. Penee or Shell - 3 minutes high pressure, release for 10 minutes. Go to 1.43 to get the details
How much water?
I have Celiac's, so two words: Thank. You.
Who else is watching this video after they tried cooking GF pasta in their instant pot for the first time and it exploded like a live volcano?
Ha! That definitely happened to me the first few times, too!
I will try this tommorow, my first time ( used my instant pot for other things) . I need to soak the chickpeas overnight. Then I will saute the ground beef with onions and celery . Remove , then the pasta 🍝. Then remove put sauce in instant pot with chickpeas and meat and cook . Then mix in the pasta.
Well I did it - followed directions on the gluten free ( brown rice) pasta and it was 👎 , ( what a mess ) could have used the pasta to patch a hole in the wall. I guess tomorrow I'll do pasta on the stove ( got cooked ground beef with sauce).
We're is Ratatouille Remi the rat cheff
HOW MUCH WATER THO
I use 5 1/2 cups of water per pound of regular pasta. Tips for cooking gluten-free noodles and other varieties of pasta are in my full post with the printable recipe card: detoxinista.com/instant-pot-pasta/
Poor Italy
nicely done video clip (but breaking spaghetti is a sin. :-)
Ha, I know! But so is pressure cooking it, probably. ;)
It is an insult!
How much water?!?!?
A for effort.
What is that? Starch porridge? Isn’t it just easier and faster to cook pasta normally?
I am sorry but that looks vile.
It looks like mash for dogs!
