SweViver I would like to know how the higher resolution compares to the normal vive while using supersampling. Both with regard to image quality and performance.
Agreed, the lack of a larger fov is quite disappointing. More res is always nice but I honestly don't have a problem with the current pixel density. Where as I do notice the restricted fov, it's not terrible, roughly equivalent to wearing a diving mask, but wider would be better.
FYI, as a veteran wipEout player, VR actually enhances my performance. Being able to see and feel exactly how close you are to a wall really gives you the extra edge once you know the tracks by heart. I was beating my non-VR lap records easily after a couple of laps in VR. For someone new to the game and unfamiliar with the tracks I agree that it is potentially harder to get a good judgement of upcoming corners from the VR cockpit. Anyway, having VR players able to race non-VR players online is absolutely genius!
feels like a bad time to dive into VR atm. GPU prices are high, new GPUs are just around the corner, Vive Pro is just a blatant cash grab with just a few minor improvements, Pimax 8K (whether it delivers or fails) is coming out soon, not much exciting VR content yet. im going to wait a while longer before i dive into VR, but i am excited for it.
the Samsung Odyssey uses the same exact display panel, and has better headphones than the vive 'pro', not to mention controllers are included and no light houses to worry about and at less than half the price (lol). Right now though PSVR is where it will be at w/ a huge audience already and it is growing, so competitive play online is viable.
I'm still not bored of seeing how much more confident and easy Jeremy has become in front of the camera - this content is a delight to watch. Highly professional I love it!
I think before we have a larger FOV, we need foveated rendering following your eyes. You may get a wider FOV now, but if the system doesn't use your eyes to focus, you still need to look near the center, or things get blurry. Once we get eye tracking as standard in the headset, then yes - wider FOV would be great. Right now, not so much.
- The whole point of VR is to make you feel like you’re actually there. You have to turn all the way around to see something behind you. What the hell did you think you lazy fuck?
Sounds nice but the thing that's going to get me to buy a new headset is increased FOV and adjustable optics... my biggest issue with VR is that I still feel like I'm looking through a pair of binoculars.
They have the backing of some world class studios. I've been a PC gamer for a long time but I just can't get enough of the Sony titles. Games like Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Gran Turismo have been some of my all time favorites that haven't been replicated nearly as well for the PC.
And it's true RGB display (unlike the pentile crap) means that it actually has less SDE than Rift and Vive, despite the technically lower res.... Sony really knocked it out of the park with the PSVR, shame the supporting hardware (Move and PS camera) are leaving users wanting.
+kraenk12 Yuup! I've got a Rift. HATE the fresnel lenses in the thing. Awful glare/god rays, kills contrast too, basically negating one of the greatest strengths of the OLED displays. But at least it was pretty cheap, don't know what the stupid expensive Vive Pro's excuse is. So pricey, and still using the same crummy fresnels.
It's because "70% higher resolution" is deceptive and people should stop using it! For reference 4K is 300% higher resolution than 1080p. The new Vive Pro has only about 30% more horizontal pixels, when we actually need more like double to make a big difference. But I don't suppose we will get that till foveated rendering becomes a thing in consumer headsets.
If not stop using it, at least explain how it doesn't translate into 70% more clarity. Kinda reminds me of the whole "8k" thing by Pimax (although that's just straight up misleading)
The VIVE Pro headphones are removable, sure it's not a matter of just clipping them off or anything, but you are NOT locked into using the built in headset. That would be plain stupid. Instructions here: www.vive.com/us/support/vive-pro-hmd/category_howto/removing-the-headset-earphones.html
Agreed, this is a pretty "meh" improvement. Though, I guess if they only want to sell a few thousand units to businesses and "prosumers" this is great.. Doesn't seem like a great move for a company that is losing market share with the quickness, but eh.
i'm assuming this setup works with 2.0 base stations... which is the only reason i'm considering purchasing this next year. i want to use my whole living room, not just a 10x10 box...
Everyone keeps saying that, but remarkably they are sold out (at least in the US). I'm not a fan of the price either, but there is a market at $800, apparently.
FireAndTheVoid they are backordered due to issues with their suppliers. Yeah people are buying it, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a success compared to the original Vive.
I bought mine the first week it was released 5 years ago, then I deployed to Syria. It has been in a box unopened ever since, I have a base station on the way and will using it for the first time this week in 2023. Here to hoping it was worth waiting for.
Welcome home! The OLED display is still pretty unmatched even today, the only other OLED headsets are PSVR2 (playstation...need proprietary adapter and bluetooth on your PC, also mura issues) and Bigscreen Beyond (£1150, customised only to your face so others can't try on the headset) I have tried the pimax and valve index but the colours, contrasts are just so much better on OLED, games like Elite Dangerous really "pop" with the inky black outer space and bright stars. LCD headsets always have this washed grey/blue even on things that are supposed to be completely black, straining your eyes on games like Cosmic Sugar and Chromalab. FYI the wireless adapter can be had for £100 or so on ebay, if you go for this option make sure the seller has the full kit with the WiGig card and sensor camera!
I thought I read that HTC Vive Pro was going to be wireless? Just checked and although it seems to be marketed as wireless the adapter is sold separately... That's a huge let down to me, upgraded resolution and wireless may have been enough for me but if the wireless is still separate but also available on the other devices then it doesn't seem worth that much more to me.
Also for someone who has tried/owned both I can say that the resolution difference isn't game changing and it's heavier on the head because of it not having wires. That and considering it cost nearly £800 for JUST the headset. If you want to experience VR 100% just go with the htc vive since it's still amazing, also you could just buy the accessories with it e.g. deluxe audio etc.
I need something for productivity. For exactly what you mentioned. I've been looking at Meta 2, Holo lense... Anything on the market yet? To support productivity? 8:37
8:38 But I do this already with my Oculus and photoshop. Programming too. Just make your font slightly larger. And windows has a built-in magnifier hotkey for detailed work. You also have to increase your virtual monitor resolution. There is also supersampling to help clean it up. I mean sure, that is a bit of fiddling to get it viable. But it works for me and gives a lot more screen real estate for less money than buying 4 physical monitors.
Thanks for showing the screen door comparison, nice touch. I'd be well happy with that much of an improvement. My whole problem with this headset though is the lack of foveated rendering with the upped resolution
I tried one. I expect the 2 cameras to provide stereo video capture, scan of objects which will be very useful for pros. I agree with your review. Two additional points: - The cable is very rubbery, which is not nice when sited and you move your head (it grip on your shoulder). - There is a dent in the foam to allow glasses branches to fit nicely, problem is that is allows light in, and in VR in dark environment you perceive it. What need upgrade the most are the lenses (with capability to take prescription). God-ray are really bad. I find all the reviewer having real difficulty to assess these because they don't have numbers to compare, it is too subjective. They should try to get the specs of these lenses (type of material/glass used (and its properties), number of rings for the Fresnel, etc...). They need to get optician to provide technical input and educate people on this area. It is such an important part of the solution. Far too much ignored. Far too much ignored...
me and my brother both want to buy a VR headset together, however we don't have a lot of money. we really want a wireless headset that runs well and were thinking of a htc vive pro (with the hand controllers) but i recently heard the Oculus quest was released. the quest is also a lot cheaper and easier to set up. which do i choose. (PS our PCs are high performance so hardware is not much of an issue)
I think visuals are fine on OG Vive but where the hell are the new controllers? the 2 things ive been wanting since I got my vive are Wireless and new controllers or some kind of glove controller. but the clamp controllers they showed off a while ago look great and I really wish we could hear more about them
Wipeout VR has blown my mind. AAA title IMO and outright a blast. Can't believe how good this came out. I had no real interest in Wipeout before...but holy shit I can't get enough now.
Great review. You guys nailed it. I got one in yesterday and just sold it on eBay for 850. It eats your GPU for breakfast in a lot of games. I have 1080Ti oc i7 4790 16g and Payday 2 on mid level graphics with no super-sampling ran with around 30% re projection. That's crazy. As did a lot of other games. If you can run high SS on the Vive the image quality is just not that big of a difference. Definitely not an $800 one.
Yeah it makes my current base stations useless, which is why I want the pro...the better tracking and I already have the stations setup. HTC just screwed themselves, I know plenty of original Vive owners who are just going to wait for a price drop or the next HMD that uses the base stations.
I would take a more comfortable headset with far less cables thats cheaper over this even if the tracking of the controllers is worse. I've watched loads of reviews of the windows headsets and they are comfortable with very good head tracking. Besides the Samsung Headset is far superior to my Oculus DK2
Since you were discussing fairness of VR vs not-VR, I figured I'd pop in to note that in Elite: Dangerous, VR is a distinct advantage. Several of the top PVPers use VR, and all the ones that use it agree that the added awareness of being able to easily visually track targets by looking at them makes combat slightly easier. Not game-changing, but a slight advantage. This in a setting where HOTAS vs stick + mouse is an endless debate.
I think the next generation of headsets will finally be good enough to become mainstream if they can bring the prices down. Foveated rendering is looking extremely promising.
The best use case for this thing is, as mentioned, bigscreen, and Elite:Dangerous. And if that's what you want, just buy a Samsung Oddyssey. It has worse hand tracking, but you dont use it on those situations, so there is no loss. The ONLY game i'd really want this extremely-overpriced piece of plastic and circuits for would be H3 VR, where the little iron sights are very difficult to see with Vive/Rift, and at the same time, you neeed top notch hand tracking.
I tried this headset with galaga VR in the Shinjuku vr zone. They are spot on. It's slightly sharper but not game changing. Also it was interesting that the game lagged like hell with lots of enemies on the screen.
I am struggeling with heavy motionsickness, how is that one regarding that? I cant pay cash for something that makes me sick.. i yested the original Vive and i got motion sickness
What i personally would want, is small fans to circulate air inside the heaset. Like some ski goggles use to keep them from fogging up. The vive gets hot and steamy pretty quickly.
For that big a price jump I'd expect it to be wireless. Plus you now need a beefier to GPU to take advantage of the extra pixels. They'd have been better off keeping the resolution the same and using a nicer (non-pentile) display and better optics.
Spice Witch over 1100 for the VR and base stations and 2000+ for a VR capable machine that can run at this new resolution is not affordable for the average consumer especially when it has very few “killer apps”
John Wayne PSVR is now 300 and it’s quite good, not nearly as good as the Vive of course but RE7 is arguably the best VR game and it has some other great VR exclusives like Psychonauts, shame it doesn’t have roomscale though.
genuine question right, i'm looking to step in to the world of vr after watching alot of vr content i decided i wanna get one but which one should i get? please answer i need help
I think Ill wait to upgrade, my Vive currently works great and it would take much more of a dramatic change to convince me to upgrade, especially at that pricepoint
CEO of Samsung once said we will need 8k displays to not see screen pixels in VR headset, in other words , we're still ways off from ideal optics solutions.
Well, think of it this way. It's a "marginal upgrade for much higher cost" - which is a very common concept in other parts of enthusiast PC builder. Like GTX 1080ti over 1080. or a Titan Xp. It's for people whose priority is increase in performance, not cost.
Nice review, couple things, you are not locked into using the headphones that come with it, you can take them off, and although I haven't on mine I suspect when you take them off you will find the headphone jack. I think the increased resolution makes a big difference to games like Skyrim VR and Fallout 4 VR. The other thing I found was that the headset surround is 30mm wider, I have a big head and the old Vive put pressure on my glasses arms and made it uncomfortable after 30 minutes. The comfort of the head strap, larger headset surround and improved graphics make it worth while in my mind.
The screen door affect appears to be not as noticeable atleast. I feel like it would be worth it they include everything bundled for maybe a little more than the headset. The price right now this is way to high.
Unrelated, but curious if the team has had or is scheduled to have a chance to demo the Lenovo Mirage Solo headset before or after it's release next month. I'm interested in getting either it or the Oculus Go and would appreciate comparative insights. I'm also especially curious if the Mirage's WorldView tech can work in complete darkness. Thanks as always for the wonderful content, gents.
I believe and personally myself bought the pro, because Its my first time getting a vive and I will pay that extra bucks for a little higher quality than not.
It seems stupid that you’re forced to use mediocre built in on-ear headphones now. Audio is just as important as video for immersion and this seems like a step back to make users use relatively low end headphones rather than allowing them to put better ones on. Maybe the next generation will upgrade the headphones to be decent.
I really hate lazy reporting. The headphones are removable and the instructions can be found here: www.vive.com/us/support/vive-pro-hmd/category_howto/removing-the-headset-earphones.html
Okay? Did they also remove every other 3.5mm audio jack in existence? I'm sure if you use your head a little you can come up with a solution (maybe a cable extension if you're wired, or maybe even a wireless audio solution). Yes it sucks they didn't include one built in, but their solution for the "general user" is the built in headset, if you want to go outside the general case they at least give you an option of removing the headphones, but you have to deal with connectivity yourself.
great so i just by the old htc vive only to find out they now do this one. old vive owners dont even get discount like the ps3-ps4

Show numbers on screen when you talk about resolutions, comparing, etc. Much easier to memorize and understand, from the youtube viewer point of.. ahem.. view. Thanks for the great review video.
Great review with an honest assessment. It baffles me that HTC thinks they could charge 800 bucks for this. I mean they even didn't bother to upgrade the optics, come on! Their brand name took a major hit with this debacle of a product.
Honestly I was considering Vive pro since Oculus Rift S was a bit of a disappointment, but tbh watching this video and all the reviews that were uploaded today praising the resolution and especially the tracking of the Rift S controllers, I think I am really opted to get Rift S
I agree they could of done something else to improve the headset but don't forget that they could be holding back like Apple does with their phones.. Hold back on future features to make more money later on down the track... I wouldn't be surprised htc will announce something next year.. Thanks for the review guys..
I can not speak for the different lens types as I have only tried the Vive. The pentile issue though is something that really bothers me. In fact it is an issue I have had with phones for many years ever since my HTC Desire had a Pentile screen which looked way worse compared to the LCD version despite the resolution being the same. That is why I hate pentiles, you get a screen which looks to be lower resolution for no benefit.
ErikTheAndroid I couldn’t adapt to a Pentile screen, now that PSVR has spoiled me. Every time I try out a Rift or Vive I’m disappointed in the lenses and screen door effect. I’m really excited for what Sony will cook up with PSVR2. Should be rad. I hope they stick with an RGB OLED screen.
I Have to agree with you there. While the Vive IMO easily beats the PSVR in terms of visual fidelity, it is very impressive how good the PSVR looks given its significantly lower resolution. It does make you wonder how much better the Vive would look with a standard RGB layout.
ErikTheAndroid I wouldn’t call the pixel difference significant...more like minor. We’ve just seen in this video that even a 70% difference doesn’t do a lot. Vive’s better visual quality mainly comes from higher supersampling and higher detail on PC. Wipeout VR is supersampled from 1800p on a Pro and 1200p even on base PS4. On Pro it looks absolutely stellar and clean, no jaggies at all in the headset. Not sure if you agree...but imho PSVR also has a more colourful screen compared to Vive, which looks a bit washed out in comparison...which should also be because of the RGB submatrix on PSVR.
Used the original Vive for movie watching but when i changed to Vive Pro there was a good difference.Worth the money ... Maybe and maybe not but i have used my Vive 2100 hours.😀
Its actually really sad, right now there is only the Lighthouses V1 in use. The moment we get the V2.0 Lighthouse tracking ( which is not supported from the normal Vive but from the Pro) we might just as well get new Handtracking Devices like Knuckle Controllers etc... as well as new other complementary accessory, think about the DAS vor the Base Vive, which was a huge step forward. But we will most likely not be able to use them with the old Version of tracking , making buying a vive right now really a bit of a bad deal.
Ultimately, it just seems like HTC grabbed some of the new displays from the Samsung Odyssey, slapped them in a Vive, made a few other minor changes to make it "ALL NEW!" and slapped a stupid high price on it with the pretense of selling to "pros"..
I have the first HTC Vive and one of the single little things I don't like about it is the size of the size and the weight .They made an improve version but even bigger and heavier lol. Here we can compare the HTC Vive with the HTC Vive Pro: www.digitaltrends.com/virtual-reality/htc-vive-vs-htc-vive-pro/ The Vive is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 but the Pro version is only compatible with Windows 8 and 10. The Vive is rated 4 stars on 5 while the Vive pro is rated 3.5 stars on 5. About the wireless adapter pack, WATCH OUT! My friend bought one and he said it's not compatible with his video card; a 1080 Ti (not sure of the model). He's often getting blackouts. Try to make sure it's compatible with your video card before buying it.
It's been out for a while now, and the graphic is still choppy, yet it's the most expensive VR gear out there. It has 3 and a half star review on most shopping platforms. Please consider lowering the price soon.
I can easily review it without using it based on what it does for making VR more accessible. I have a rift and my mate next door has the vive, the main problem with both is the price (the price of the headset, as wel as the price of the PC required to get a decent experience), the resolution is fine on the vive and rift and only needed increasing if its price stayed the same and the original dropped to bellow 300. It has the same wands that have severely limited VR interaction compared to the rift touch controllers so adds nothing but a sharper image and what should have been a default, built in earphones given the price. rift like touch controllers which allow for more interaction and immersion is vastly more important than a slightly sharper image. This adds nothing to the VR experience and certainly doesn't warrant the price especially as it further inhibits the adoption of the format as not only is the price off putting, the requirements push higher resolutions means you need an even more expensive baseline PC, and lets be honest, if you are buying these things you are not going to get the best out of them on the minimum specs. I'd recommend a rift over either vive, simply because the price is a lot more "reasonable" with the touch controllers which increase the vr experience, or go the PSVR route which you can get complete with the PS4 pro and a couple of games for less than vive pro.
Now it looks like the oculus in the A - B test. Strange. Still the price. Relative to the previous version it seems like all you get is more screen, and less options elsewhere. That's a problem. But I still don't get why people think that is expensive. You can buy a surround sound system for way more. And you only get one if you have an expensive TV to use it with. $2000 plus easy. But actual VR is bad at $800?
We need wider FOV :) The resolution bump is indeed a step forward, but if we expect a revolutionary upgrade, FOV is the answer!
Having that said, great review guys!
And Eye tracking Of course
SweViver I would like to know how the higher resolution compares to the normal vive while using supersampling. Both with regard to image quality and performance.
Pimax 8K ;)

"Click analyze to begin" lmfao got that Premiere Warp Stabilizer goin on I see
derp! sorry about that, one sneaked by me!
Lindsay Daly It happens to the best 😂
I clicked on the screen lol.
How does Premiere even allow that to get into the final render?
It's been a while, but I agree. How? Maybe the rendered cache?

retroact1ve the lighthouses are the best thing on Vive.
All WMR headsets have spotty tracking with glitches and mediocre controllers
Wtf, even the 4k one omg i just buyed a htc and you're telling their is cheaper and better 4k headset really omggggg
coupa10 it’s not cheaper or better at all. It’s an unfinished prototype atm, nothing more. Relax.
I'm still not bored of seeing how much more confident and easy Jeremy has become in front of the camera - this content is a delight to watch. Highly professional I love it!

High fov causes neausia

speakers are NOT locked on. the kit contains little plastic discs to snap on after you've removed the speaker arms
I think they are referring to the missing 3.5mm jack.
It's still possible to use a USB-C audio DAC or wireless headphones.
Click Analyze to begin 6:40
Adobe Warp Stabilizer Fail
Yeah, probably After Effects
Sounds nice but the thing that's going to get me to buy a new headset is increased FOV and adjustable optics... my biggest issue with VR is that I still feel like I'm looking through a pair of binoculars.
13:09 proves PSVR games can hang. Sony has studios that are no joke. I was shocked at wipeout compared to stuff I've played on the Vive.

PSVR also has the best lenses...no god rays no fresnel lenses. Sony is hardware king in many areas.

Tested are hands down my favourite RUclips channel. Always interesting.
Almost double the price for a face lift?! No thanks. New displays but the difference is barely there.
Agreed, this is a pretty "meh" improvement. Though, I guess if they only want to sell a few thousand units to businesses and "prosumers" this is great.. Doesn't seem like a great move for a company that is losing market share with the quickness, but eh.
Dmitri Felbinger my thoughts entirely

2:04 not true, you can use your own Bluetooth ones on the vive pro if you push them back
too expensive. cool but not real 2nd gen
Frothar no one said it was Gen 2. It's 1.5
I suppose that's why it's called Vive PRO, and not Vive 2 ya know.
Exactly.
It's kinda like the Xbox one, Xbox one s, Xbox one x
Theres no way its just like the shitty Xbox One X
HTC listen " Every reviews said this is not worth $800"
So it's good idea to drop a price.
bunnyfreakz and that's before the controllers etc. 1,100... They're fucking nuts
Everyone keeps saying that, but remarkably they are sold out (at least in the US). I'm not a fan of the price either, but there is a market at $800, apparently.
then dont buy it if its too expensive, the price will drop over time...
FireAndTheVoid they are backordered due to issues with their suppliers. Yeah people are buying it, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a success compared to the original Vive.
$1200 in Australia headset only...
This is the one video that answered all my questions I had between the two. This is great!
Great VR coverage content again from the ppl over at tested.com! Thanks! Keep it coming

The best way to play Wipeout VR is to turn off all the comfort settings. No sickness if you have VR legs, and it plays great.
Love the psvr Wipout review. One of the best racing expereriences on any heaset. Game is so fast.
8:38 But I do this already with my Oculus and photoshop. Programming too.

what do he say 8:17 Rocket disco headset? is what i hear, but that can not be right.
I tried one. I expect the 2 cameras to provide stereo video capture, scan of objects which will be very useful for pros.
I agree with your review.
Two additional points:
- The cable is very rubbery, which is not nice when sited and you move your head (it grip on your shoulder).
Awesome Joust t-shirt Jeremy! One of my favourite parts of the Ready Player One book with Acererak the demi-lich!
You guys are the best VR reporters I know. Keep doing what you're doing! Could you do a review of Skyrim VR?
Small correction: The integrated headphones are removable, so you can still use your own.
Very nice review! Same conclusions here!
me and my brother both want to buy a VR headset together, however we don't have a lot of money. we really want a wireless headset that runs well and were thinking of a htc vive pro (with the hand controllers) but i recently heard the Oculus quest was released. the quest is also a lot cheaper and easier to set up. which do i choose. (PS our PCs are high performance so hardware is not much of an issue)
The oculus quest is a standalone.
If you want wireless buy the og vive with the tpcast thing.
I had no real interest in Wipeout before...but holy shit I can't get enough now.
it's so good!
Love these VR headset videos keep them coming
Great review. You guys nailed it. I got one in yesterday and just sold it on eBay for 850. It eats your GPU for breakfast in a lot of games. I have 1080Ti oc i7 4790 16g and Payday 2 on mid level graphics with no super-sampling ran with around 30% re projection. That's crazy. As did a lot of other games. If you can run high SS on the Vive the image quality is just not that big of a difference. Definitely not an $800 one.
9:59 The samsung Odysee has the same resolution for a much more reasonable price
I'm pretty sure it's also lighter and more comfortable.
Besides the Samsung Headset is far superior to my Oculus DK2
samsung tracking is very good to me
Steve 30x Have you used a Vive with a DAS or the Vive Pro? They are pretty comfortable as well.
The second camera is probably for using mixed reality to get your hands inside VR, that is what makes sense for me at least.
at 06:35 "click analyze to begin"?
Someone forgot to finish their warp stabilizer.
Premiere pro occasionaly leaves these in when stabilising footage, they just assumed it wouldn't be there in the final footage.
Can you super sample with this version of the vive like version 1 to help reduce the screen door effect?
I like the microphones you guys are using- may I know the make and model?
Still waiting for VR to be affordable
Spice Witch over 1100 for the VR and base stations and 2000+ for a VR capable machine that can run at this new resolution is not affordable for the average consumer especially when it has very few “killer apps”
John Wayne PSVR is now 300 and it’s quite good, not nearly as good as the Vive of course but RE7 is arguably the best VR game and it has some other great VR exclusives like Psychonauts, shame it doesn’t have roomscale though.
John Wayne..... winmr headset for about 230..... and some average pc with a 1060
great, now I just need a Play Station AND a VR headset.
VR is quite affordable. The PC is still more expensive! Thanks to Bitcoin and ethereum mining! 😚😚😚
genuine question right, i'm looking to step in to the world of vr after watching alot of vr content i decided i wanna get one but which one should i get? please answer i need help
What is the intro music???
I think Ill wait to upgrade, my Vive currently works great and it would take much more of a dramatic change to convince me to upgrade, especially at that pricepoint
thanks for review but can i use vive pro with i Mac Pro
does anybody have any information on what happened to the brain candy live North American tour for 2018 on why they canceled it?
CEO of Samsung once said we will need 8k displays to not see screen pixels in VR headset, in other words , we're still ways off from ideal optics solutions.
Good review, Norm.
What’s the stats on it like what type of pc do u need for it?
Only thing I use my VIVE for. Is for Project Cars 2. With my Sim racing rig. Best experience in VR.
Maybe the next generation will upgrade the headphones to be decent.
usbc to 3.5mm jack..... also they can sell additional expensive headphones dedicated for it
I really hate lazy reporting. The headphones are removable and the instructions can be found here: www.vive.com/us/support/vive-pro-hmd/category_howto/removing-the-headset-earphones.html
but you don't have a 3.5mm audio jack like the normal vive
Okay? Did they also remove every other 3.5mm audio jack in existence? I'm sure if you use your head a little you can come up with a solution (maybe a cable extension if you're wired, or maybe even a wireless audio solution). Yes it sucks they didn't include one built in, but their solution for the "general user" is the built in headset, if you want to go outside the general case they at least give you an option of removing the headphones, but you have to deal with connectivity yourself.
it's like apple with there "pro" products (no SD-card reader)
Wipeout is actually easier in VR. All my times are faster and I'm in cockpit mode. Depth perception is a real thing and an advantage.
Feel like a sucker for buying Gen1 kit, really need an GPU-type 'Trade Up' program w/ these
HMD odyssey re-review please! Got one and its been fantastic with SteamVR but would like to see what you think.
More interested in the Joust T-Shirt lol, where the hell can I get one??
great so i just by the old htc vive only to find out they now do this one. old vive owners dont even get discount like the ps3-ps4
Show numbers on screen when you talk about resolutions, comparing, etc. Much easier to memorize and understand, from the youtube viewer point of.. ahem.. view. Thanks for the great review video.
HL3 would help VR a lot.
Gamer Voice Its what I’ve been saying since years. Valve is stupid not to do it.
"Hundreds of kilometers per minute" lmao
Jeremy is that a Joust tshirt from Ready player one?
Only Display Port Input =0
Nice!
I had some serious issues with HDMI, so DP is very welcome!
Thanks for the information
I agree they could of done something else to improve the headset but don't forget that they could be holding back like Apple does with their phones.. Hold back on future features to make more money later on down the track... I wouldn't be surprised htc will announce something next year.. Thanks for the review guys..
Ugh why do they put pentile screens in these things. Would look much better with a standard RGB arrangement.
ErikTheAndroid and still fresnel lenses. Sony’s showing them how it’s done...for less money.
Maybe and maybe not but i have used my Vive 2100 hours.😀
the vive pro doesn't need the docs, does it?
Any one know a vr headset that can be used on a Mac book pro 2019 edition ?
No of course it won't run on a MacBook. No vr headset will work on a MacBook
The hTC vive pro was constructed for business.
Would it be nice to have HTC Vive Pro? Yes
Would it be worth to have HTC Vive Pro? No
I have the first HTC Vive and one of the single little things I don't like about it is the size of the size and the weight .They made an improve version but even bigger and heavier lol. Here we can compare the HTC Vive with the HTC Vive Pro:
www.digitaltrends.com/virtual-reality/htc-vive-vs-htc-vive-pro/
The Vive is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 but the Pro version is only compatible with Windows 8 and 10.
Jeeze 800$ that's silly it's not worth it lol
It's been out for a while now, and the graphic is still choppy, yet it's the most expensive VR gear out there. It has 3 and a half star review on most shopping platforms. Please consider lowering the price soon.
Cant wait for the next generation of VR. like dual 4k screens and 160+ FOV
VR will be the wave of the future
Have they played Dirt Rally VR with a wheel? That is my favorite vr racing game
Phillip Morrison it’s great, probably number two, but Wipeout is better. It’s mind blowing, really.
I doubt a game without a wheel is half as good. I've played redout vr which is a wipe out clone and i found that pretty boring
Phillip Morrison We don’t need no wheels where we are going, Marty!
And yes...Redout IS pretty boring.
As having a original vive there is no point in upgrading for me. Will wait for the vive 2 and then think about it.
There isn't gonna be a vive 2!.
Thanks 4 that, $800 jog on lol! Nice to see a graphical comparison.
You should review the Royole Moon
Now it looks like the oculus in the A - B test.
Strange.
Still the price. Relative to the previous version it seems like all you get is more screen, and less options elsewhere. That's a problem.
But I still don't get why people think that is expensive. You can buy a surround sound system for way more. And you only get one if you have an expensive TV to use it with. $2000 plus easy.
But actual VR is bad at $800?
thinking about buying one of these :D
