One thing I always found interesting is that in the first PaRappa his goal was to be a hero, and the game is about him growing up (learn to fight and drive, get a job). But in the second one, his motivation is to grow up, and he becomes a hero, saving the whole town from noodlization.

Plague Doctor That is the Japanese name of the game. They were talking about the etymology of the word Parappa, perapera.
It's "My name is Pos" he's one of the members of De La Soul who made the song for the game. They even made a music video to go with the song where they were in the game and baking cakes and stuff, it was a thing.
I like these games, if you can't tell so I'm happy you are reviewing my favourite one.

The game had a secret doghouse music box, a hidden song, hidden music video, new game plus, and tweaked gameplay cheats... I wonder if anyone remembers...
There was the ninja star mode, story skip, and a cheat I found myself, through logic, the random lyric load,
In parappa 2, after the first run, the teachers actually pay attention to you. If you do too well, the teachers step up and make the lyrics trickier, and likewise, if you do poorly, the teachers go easy, and use simpler lyrics,
The random lyric load cheat is only really noticeable from circuit 3, and possibly 4 onwards. It basically remixed the already remixed songs, locking it in one of the secret offshoot judgement songs the teachers use based on your performance...

Little known fact: There is actually a third Parappa The Rapper game where you get stuck on a mountain and have to cannibalize your party to survive. Rather than pasta taking over the town, Parappa must fight the guilt and hunger pains.

good review! heres some tips you might wanna know btw:
hold L1 and L2 while selecting a stage to skip the cutscenes/training with the radio thing. also if you freestyle in a groovy way you can get above the good rating into the cool rating, letting you freestyle anything in rhythm by yourself, which is why the instructors always try convincing you to freestyle. if you beat the stage in the cool rating, the end scene for that stage is different.

I don't know if anyone already answered or not, but at 2:50, those 3 bar represent scoring based on your performance.
•)Blue score how well you imitate your teacher line and guide even when you're trying to freestyle.
•)Orange score how well your free style is based on the amount of button you pressed and of course, match the beat. Even if you press less button, as long as the game likes it, you got the score.
•)Purple score how "funky/original/groovy" your freestyle is.

there is actually a black hat To get the Black Hat difficulty (level 16), press the right trigger (R3) while tilting it downward while selecting "Single Play" and don't release it until the DJ table starts spinning. After you hear the vinyl scratch, you can release the button.

I think the gauges at the bottom monitor how well you’re following the instructor, rhythm, and funk.
Actually the three bars on the bottom show how your rapping qualifies if you get cool. The bottom left bar you want negative, and the middle and right bars you want positive. And also you can press start to skip the beat box thingy's practice thing
