It’s 2021 and I’ve found Snarky Puppy. I feel I’ve been living in a freezer all these years
Same feeling
You're late to the party man!
Very impressed, the one dude just got his own sig PRS
I just found them too
RUclips recommended "drummer hears enter sandman for the first time"...not understanding how this was even possible I clicked thinking it would be a fun forgettable 6 minutes. It's been 2 days with no sleep and I can barely remember what life was like before Snarky Puppy.
I love how their audience was universally able to sing in time appropriately while the band was playing in 7
SNARKY PUPPY HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.

Never heard anything like them! Love it!
Same here!
So nice that the percussionist is good and loud in this mix. That dude is slaying all over the place
I was thinking the same. I love his playing, and he is way more up front in this mix than other SP stuff I can find.
Yep, all of the Snarky drummers are unbelievable. This is Sput Searight playing here, and they also rotate Larnell Lewis and Jason "JT" Thomas in and out depending on who is available at the time. All of them are great.
@@gustafsone
I wonder if Eric Moore ever plays for them. that would be a wonderful gig.
@@jawshoowa эы
@@gustafsone I think he was talking about Nate Werth. He's always so locked in with the drummers!
The guitar solo in Lingus is one of the best tributes to Eddie van Halen ever.
Mark Lettieri Solo on Lingus is just unbelievable. Amazing!
Yep, there's no denying that Cory's solo in the live studio recording was nothing but otherworldly, but Mark absolutely owns this thing, too! It's so cool to hear this solo section on a different instrument.
@@gustafsone Cory's Lingus solo it's one of the best things I ever heard in my life... UNMATCHED!
i completely agree, but that empty space at the outro of the solo hurt my feelings :,(
Agreed but how do we explain to him that a Van Halen shirt is not particularly cool? Not the first show in which he wears one> Meant to be ironic?
@@David-iv6je Maybe he likes them, so he wears the shirt. He's great, so that works for me. :)
WELL, THIS BAND MUSIC ENTERS INTO THE FUNK, JAZZ, BLUES AND ROCK CATEGORY, THAT MIX IT IS KNOWN AS F U S I O N........GREW UP WITH IT AND IT WILL NEVER DIE.....
I accidentally found them on RUclips. The guy on the bongos is one half of the founders of Ghost-Note. And it was through him that a stumbled on this beautiful awsome band. Lingus is my favourite
The drummer really drives the whole performance. They're all exceptional musicians, but the drummer is the engine behind it all here.
always. Without a good drummer, it's not the same gig.
It's a percussion section. 1 dude on the traps & the other creating a rhythmic sound that's solid.. Indonesia? Sorry to say , across the pond anywhere but this country ( USA) so many still live a modest & mysterious lifestyle..
No money to be made here anymore.. skinny social media retards that support a retarded corrupt government.. pos.
Totally. Noting the percussionist as an essential part of the drum sound.
How refreshing to see and hear fusion being played by youthful musicians. What a talented and tight band.
I miss these gentlemen so much. Mikey and the gang, honored to know ya and can’t wait until the shows are rolling again and we’re back at San Francisco Jazz Center. Missing you and all the world of live music, lucky to live and have these concerts to revisit.
You know it's really good to see a group of young and very talented musicians tearing it up. I now feel more comfortable about the future of music. Keep it up fellows and get back to Charlotte, NC asap.
+Dan Edmiston I second the sentiment!
Exactly!
that is true!
thats what i was thinkin'..........wb
I have never seen and heard such a huge array of incredible musicians in one place! And energy...
Archimedes Woo jaco pastorius was a beast in energy and timing
Dat guitar solo from 48:05 , wow!
Everything, everything, everything. Jazz changed how I listen and appreciate music. I am forever grateful.
Jose Vazquez Use that jazz tuned ear to listen to ALL music. My son is a drummer who makes his living banging out pop covers, but his passion is Jazz and he'll often slip in a riff or two into some "standard", just to keep his hand in.
One of the few newer musical groups that actually are musicians and not mere entertainers. Snarky Puppy is the truth!
That moment when "Celebrity" kicks in at 36:07 is sooo good. The whole track has such a great vibe. Thanks Snarky!
These young people put hope back in music, this band is great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EricVon bush, you are so right. ;)
Apology for the audio quality....
we are remixing the audio, and we will reupload the video w/ the new audio very soon...
That's really cool. Thanks a lot.
awesome i was sitting here wondering how in gods name was this the only thing not recorded in HD in the last 3 years ha.....
karl murphy It was produced in HD... it was intentionally not uploaded in HD... we have our reasons...
JavaJazzFest which are?
Are you any nearer re-uploading the new version with HD sound?
Can't WAIT to see/hear it!!
this is incredible I wish Cory would've been there !!
Apart from being amazing musicians, these guys are completely humble and sincere. Got to meet them after a show in Melbourne, Australia and they were ALL very cool cats. Nothing but love and respect.
I'd heard most of these tracks before today, and was so excited to hear these live takes, but then Flood just smacked me in the face with how gorgeous and groovy it is. What a treat.
NATE WERTH!!!!!! Awesome percussion!!!!
1:13:08 Michael and Sput!
Absolutely crazy! They have such a nuts connection!
To me Michael League is the most talented bass player and composer of these times. He playes crazy unique lines!!! Im Loking forward to se him live!
And arranger. The guy is monster. Indeed one of the most talented musicians of all time and he's still under 40.
Represent the VH. shows how much respect Ed had across all genres. The hippest musicians of all styles always knew what a genius he was. RIP.
Just discovered Snarky Puppy. Glad that fusion is alive and moving forward. The old generation are nearly all gone. Glad the young dudes are doing much more than just a nostalgia trip.
I started with an open mind, and ended with an open mouth.
Zactly!!!
I just heard them live three days ago and ended with an open mouth. :)
How most of my date's end up ;D
thats what she said
Happens to everybody.
That "Weather Report inspired" intro was amazing!! They are keeping great music alive!!
Not even the first 10 minutes of this, and I'm feeling this music.
I'm astonished that the aux percussionist hadn't cramped all over in his hands and arms during the concert...
+Block has what about the guitarist fingers after these mad solos..
I was at their concert October 30th 2015 in Berlin - it left me breathless. Fantastic people!
Mark's solo in the beginning of Flood is amazing.
51:52 is soooo gooood
51:04 onwards reminds me of The Fearless Flyers' Swampers, which is funny since Mark went on to record it 4 or 5 years later, haha
I clicked on this because I felt like some Skinny Puppy, and didn't read it completely. Glad I did.
lol \m/
How can you not love these guys!!!!!!!!!!!
DAMN!!!!
FABULOUS MUSIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT ENERGY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD SOUND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RESPECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
48:30 - 52:20 ...AHHHHH So soulful and beautiful! Damn near shed a tear..
So good that guitar solo in Lingus! Amazing!!
Mark is always solid, but on Lingus he just shines!
YES, so much done so tastefully, occasionally whispering like an unarmed church mouse w/ huge balls,
Then full Auto! So Good
Put this on and my girl FINALLY let me take her from behind!! THANK YOU fellas!!!!
Papapoo Do excellent! Your Gal is now proficient in 7-8 timing or there was a lot of fallout.
Hahahaha
XD
so what was your sign-on name before this 'nom de conquest'? and more importantly what's her's... JK
I can't even count anymore how often I listened to this concert, but every single time it makes my day and I feel lighthearted! Thank you Snarky Puppy, thank you Java Jazz!
Fan ! (of :Didier D'agostino drummer)
I Just LOVES me some SNARKY PUPPY!!! Their groove is oh SOOOOO very FUNKY!!!❤❤❤❤❤🎼🎵🎶🎹
Extraordinary musicians. Nice combination of technique, virtuosity and a lot of heart.
Snarky Puppy are brilliant, beautiful and talented, all of them. Thanks for sharing. This filled my morning with wonder and joy.
This is some of the most amazing music I've ever heard! How have I not heard these guys before? 'Face is officially melting off...
A PointOnACurve I left some words on another live vid of there's almost exactly the same as yours , I was after the drummer - liked his style and but ended up watching whole concert surprised myself not usually into jazz much
Same....my son turned me on to this group of amazing musicians. Can't get enough of them.....WOW...just WOW!!!!!
My favorite classical composer is Bach. His melodic/lyrical writing makes him special to me. If i could some how bring JSB to 2022, once i got him to stop hyperventilating about...well...everything, for obvious reasons, id put a very good set of headphones on him. Id play Awaken by Yes first, the opening will give him a little familiarity. As soon as Awaken is done, we'd take a snarky trip down the rabbit hole.
I hope 100 years from now these guys are given the God Tier recognition they deserve. Its criminal how often i have explain what they are. They should be a household name!
I can't get over the part at 56:43 where Sput drops a stick, catches it mid-fall, and continues to play, all while not taking one step out of the pocket.
He didn't drop the stick , he had a towel on his left knee and it was slowly slipping off , he tried to catch it before it hits the ground but he didn't :) , still amazing for doing all of that without missing a beat !!!
mark lietteri is such a phenomenal guitarist !
Snarky is really setting the pace for young jazz-players at the moment. Love their cooperation with Laylah Hathaway and Cory Henry.
They are a killer band. Speaking of the future of jazz, check these guys out - ruclips.net/video/JFVZ5i_YkRA/видео.html
that drummer is not human! INSANE! amazing talent ... I am still in shock with Snarky Puppy... missed Weather Report and such.... now I have them
Throw in, E.L.P, King Crimson, add Weather Report, Return to Forever, add Miles Davis, Gypsy Kings, Throw in Procol Harum, and for the HELL of it, throw in the Jeff Beck Group,Cream, and for good measure Santana, and Hendrix experience, and you have Snarky Puppy, hands down the best group out there by FAAAAAR!!!! BTW I never heard anyone do a Jeff Beck riff and sound like this guy has pulled off. Simply incredible!!!!
Fabulous! I was going to single out the guitar playing for "wow," but I can't.
The entire sound - all of it- EVERYTHING is musical genius~ Thank you! I'm so glad I found you. Late to the party, but who cares! I'm here now!!!! Mind blown, thanks to the incredible sound that is Snarky Puppy.
Wanted to hate this, watched the entire thing. Me humbled.
I cannot get enough of this. I've been listening to it about 2 times a day since I discovered it about 4 days ago. I'll call out the guitar solo trading starting around 6:30. At one point the drummer can be seen with a huge grin. I think he may have been enjoying it more than anyone else. Typically not a fan of guitar wank-offs; I think it is fair to say this is anything but.
Also at 59:10 when the rhythm section modulates tempo is just masterful. These guys have achieved a level of musical mastery hitherto unknown.
Right, some great stuff. As long as it's not just technical masturbation. Love the Van Halen t-shirt and the Jaco ending "shave and haircut". The piano right after cool too. Having two guitarist seems right here ;>
I agree with all that! He gets weird enough to stray from the straight 16th note or 32nd “watch how much metronome I have played to” a lot of guitarists fall into. I’m only about 15 min, so now you’ve got me primed for 59:10. Much love to other Snarky Puppy fans. These guys inspire me all the time.
Absolutely fabulous. Saw them this summer at Womad festival here in England. They are new favourite band. Accessible, groovy, virtuosic, melodic, funky Jazz at it's best.
The guitarist 48 minutes into the video.... Skills.
Best band to see live!! Awesome recording only thing that would have made it perfect was if Cory and Shaun were there as well.
These guys are not human!!!
Audio quality is one thing the ambience is so nice this concert is unique to everyone in the audience
People in the audience are part of the exprerience. thanks to ALL involved (and still are maybe)
I just discovered this band. Wow, they are great!
Just discovered these guys and I love 'em!
Incredible. Watching for 4th time.
I think I first heard Celebrity the other week at the Historic Scoot Inn...I think it was the same interesting timing, clap, bass line, scat with crowd, etc that totally grabbed me. LOVE this band!!! So fantastic! (:
This band just blows me away every time I listen to them. Every time!
Stellar lineup, even by their standards. Sput kills it!

27:06 Kite (We Like it Here)
34:00 Celebrity (Bring Us the Bright)
48:06 Flood (Tell Your Friends)
1:02:42 Young Stuff (groundUP)
Still one of my favourite SP concerts
I didn't know I needed a dose of Snarky Puppy today! But I did, and it made me so happy!
There are so many influences you can hear. Allow me to direct your attention to King Crimson's "Red". Not that I have any problem with that. In opposite I enjoy every reminescence I discover. What a great band! One of the most exciting things is to see they have much fun together on stage and respect for each other. And they have so much energy.
As a guitarist myself I want to say that I really like what these two guys do on their instruments. It's not only the technical perfection but the abundance of ideas and the tasteful melodic and harmonic playing. I'm thrilled and impressed.
I hear some Zappa influence, without the xylophone, but the horns are astounding! They ice that cake well!
A lot of Bob Lanzetti's playing reminds me of King Crimson
So far the best performance of Snarky Puppy among those available on RUclips, IMHO.
+youtux2 this one, and "southland ballroom in raleigh"
Thanks, I'll check it out.
thankfully there are still people interested in good music.
I was there. Great performance!!
It's so unbeliveable how they manage to play with such a confidence, strenght, and love for the music. It seems that the crowd didn't get what is going on in front of them. I would scream my throat out out there...
Tom Floor I agree. But this is so much more than 'just' a jazz, wouldn't you say? Ok, let me put it this way, thay didn't applaude much and yell 'bravo' neither. :-) Anyway I would be a fan with the worse manners at their concert, I couldn't help it.
Its a cultural thing. American audiences are really the only ones that get rowdy when they really dig something.
Matt Wiles You clearly haven't been to Portugal.
Sérgio Castro
clearly not... For some reason, every artist falls in love with Portuguese crowds
Matt Wiles DC area crowds suck, for the most part, so it must be a regional thing.
34:30 if you wanna hear a bass solo that's fun to listen to, without any showing off, fiddling or shredding. just a nice bass solo. makes a great intro to the amazing song that follows!
I love these guy's. Thank you 4 sharing!
Let's not forget Bill's keyboard solo on Strawman. Really excellent. I think this tune is becoming my favorite SP tune, over Lingus and What About Me?
EXCELLENT BAND
They just gained another fan. 👍
a cross between return to forever and average white band without vocals my first time hearing them hope they tour the dirty south good to hear a Band actually playing instruments
so many amazing influences!!! great band.
thank you
Sick, sick, SIIIICK! (Gotta wonder who the 89 tone-deaf amoebae are who thumbed this down)
I swear I heard the keyboardist say "I love you too honey bunny"
mind-blowing show.
these guys are superb
Holy Sheet! OK, that was the best drum fill of 2014 so far right around 41:55. Damn!!!!!!!!!!
every song is cooler than the last one
simply amazing! in awe of the pure talent and love for their instruments!
I just found this full band by accident and they just blew me away. They are Damn good wow.
That drummer kept time so hard i actually think i know what time it is.

realy happy that i found the set list on google
Guitar player has been listening to the great Jeff it seems... ;-)
Best group I've discovered in a long time. This is a great concert. These guys need to get together with SOIL and Pimp Sessions. I would give my first-born to see that show.
They rush through the set as if an unstoppable sequencer has to be kept up with. Great sound, great music. Looking forward to see them in Berlin.
I very badly wanted to clap at the end of that last bass solo. But then Irealized I wasn't there... :'(
At 54:52 when audience get amazed by Robert's drum fill
I just came to know them from a reaction to dream theater . These guys are really amazing !!! Well done
My new favorite ensemble!
Amazing solo done by Justin Stanton in Flood.
Was I the only one praying that Cory Henry would jump out backstage for his solo.
Shadaunte' Tucker right! he needed to be there him and mr Martin!
WOW ! In 10 seconds I was hooked. Thanks for posting this. Didn't know about this band. Soooooo much talent !
This is intense, bold, tight and inventive. The future of music is here.
FUNTASTIC GUITAR starting at 48:06 ... superb! ... Cheers!
