I went to NYC for the semi-finals and the final at the US Open 2018. I am so glad I convinced my friends to choose a jazz club over a comedy club. We ended up going to Mezzrow Jazz Club first and it was awesome, plus we could use the same ticket to enter the Smalls Jazz Club after the set. We saw Philip Harper and the band at Smalls. Everyone in my group was just so amazed of the live performance. What a great first time NY jazz club experience. Thanks for the memories.
I am 24 years old and the truth is that since long before I have been fascinated by jazz, it is a musical style so rich auditory and so cheerful that motivates me emotionally, I do not change it for any other style of music that you hear today and that I have a hard time calling it "music" .
yes, what sounds today is not music. it is just noise. take sonny rollins input of what music is. or just take them for how they sound, and it is just bad music, bad frequencies, dont inspire anything. it is music to dumb down. Jazz lifts you up! and it ain't elevator music! hahhaa
16 years old, i fell in love with jazz (especially high tempo) when on a long car trip i decided to listen to an hour long jazz playlist i randomly downloaded
! Merci Monsieur HARPER ! 🔵⚪🔴
Thanks for your comment Manuela. May we suggest another playlist that might fit your needs ? It's Denise King: ruclips.net/video/cJbI2fuTqsc/видео.html Very good as a soundtrack for your weekend!
11 minutes after having this randomly play while im taking a shower after work.... A new discovery and just set the mood to have a small glass of wine before going to sleep. Thank you for sharing
One of the most recognizable melodies to me... Blue Bossa. When I hear it I know it immediately. I was in a band that did this a long time ago. 1983, LoL!

I've never heard of Phil Harper. But this whole playlist is solid in that 50's jazz style. It's so great that there are musicians out there that are still doing this.
Damn this guy's good! Such a well toned and well thought out solo structure that trumpet has! This whole album kicks ass! I can't think of anything else to say. 🙏 🙏 🙏 Thank you and God bless you! 🙏📿🛐🤲
I love Jazz too - but I'm 66 years old and I also love funk, R&B, classical, rock, and even some rap! My mind and ears are always open. It's how we grow.........
I’ve been listening to a lot of blues and classical, and listening to the Harry Bosch novels on tape by Michael Connelly. Bosch is a jazz man so I thought I’d try it out. I really like this guy.

A collection of nearly perfectly played classic jazz standards in the same style as they were originally immortalized: a brilliant marketing formula! No one here is trying to reinvent the wheel or to modernize a time tested model of 50s and 60s bop. Phil Harper has a mature and beautiful command of the Miles trumpet school of swing!
Recognized that melody, thought I was imagining things, because I told myself that sounds like that song from the movie BUGSY with Warren Beatty. Then the chorus of Candy came to my mind and it's Kandy, indeed.

Yes, that happens!
Get ready for a lifelong trip!
High tempo.... You're looking for Rhythm Changes based stuff, they played them at 240bpm in the bebop era.
I've listened to jazz for over 60 years and I have never heard of Phil Harper...he's amazing!
Bouncing thru my office
Bravo Philip Harper
I don't get the three thumbs down. This guy is a classic and classy trumpet player. What's not to love.
It’s too soft!!! That’s what….n I didn’t thumbs down but you asked…
It's a RUclips video. Lol. Any and all RUclips videos with a certain amount of views will have someone who thumbs it down lol

The way Philip plays trumpet in that first song is just so sublime!
Translation: I listened to a bit of the first song, only, and then went back to my gadget.
@@keithfitzgerald876 why you say that? We need more love and less hate. Its something objective, the way he plays de trumpet in first song is awesome
