I’m starting an antidepressant, very low-dose, to treat my functional dyspepsia. I have been very resistant to taking it. But this morning when I saw my G.I. again, I finally agreed to it. This episode truly, truly, truly helped me understand why an antidepressant would work. My G.I. did tell me it’s a brain gut issue but I did not understand that the nerves were so sensitive. It explains so much! Thank you to both of you for putting this out there. I have been suffering with this for most of my life. I am 54 years old. I also suffer from almost daily migraines. The majority of what I experience is extreme bloating originating under my left rib cage, yes, nine months pregnant looking and wrapping to my back with such intense pain. I have tried herbal remedies with only modest improvement. I am very hopeful! 🙏

I just wanted to update. I started trazodone 12.5mg/night and it has been a game changer, the improvements I see and feel are incredible. It’s about one week. GI said about 6 weeks for meds to take complete effect. I was extremely resistant to the idea. I am so thankful for trazodone and for this video!! ❤
I've had 5 GI Dr the 5th thinks it bile acid and functional dispepsia. The put me on deloxitine. I've lost 35 pds very thin. Majored burning tightness now anxiety after 4 yrs every day started after GB removal 3/17/20. Now on powder for 2 wks to see if they helps. Maybe the M and B meds would be better. What do you think pain is bad all day long age 65. I have had ever test done CT ultra sound MRI scopes stool and blood test. Do you think ultra sound some day will cure it like Parkinson's tremors.
I’ve been diagnosed with FD after dealing with 2 years of nausea and losing 20 lbs. It initially started after going through a very stressful time in my life. The link between gut and brain is true for me although I’ve now have gallbladder issues. What really got rid of my nausea is eliminating all saturated fat from my diet and keeping the good fats low.
I have just been diagnosed with FD and this has given me a far better understanding of my symptoms and remedies. I have both symptoms the stomach pain and the feeling full quickly limiting food intake. Thank you so much for such a thorough explanation.
This is the BEST Description and information I’ve been able to find. I’ve been struggling for so long and I can move forward with a way to describe my issues and find appropriate help. THANK YOU.
My gastroenterologist has diagnosed me with FD and recommended a low dose of nortriptyline. Although I’ve been hesitant to start this treatment, the herbal remedies I’ve tried so far haven’t been effective. I’ve decided to give the antidepressant a chance, in the hope that it will restore my health to its normal state. Thank you for the informative podcast!
I was given 10mg of amitriptyline and it took all of my symptoms from a 10 to 3 and I was severely ill and unable to eat with chronic nausea and vomiting and severe bloating and after the med it all stopped! I don’t want to take this forever. I’ve been on it a year. Is it possible for functional dyspepsia to go away? I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and had hysterectomy fir endometriosis 5 years ago along with chronic migraines and b12 deficiency. I’m a mess and I do all the right healthy things and being monitored by Mayo Clinic and the best doctors and it’s still such a struggle. I take LDN for my fibromyalgia and do al the natural supplements and lifestyle and healthy diet and physical therapy and more and even went to therapy and my therapist is like you are very mentally healthy you are just learning how to live in chronic pain. Yes amitriptyline 10mg I have taken it for two weeks and 75% burning sensation have gone but still I have functional dyspepsia and bloating and I want it to go forever and feel normal again.
I'm trying to get in to see a GI doctor soon. I've had digestive issues since November 2022. I was diagnosed with gastritis back in 2018 from stress, but what I have now doesn't feel like my normal gastritis flare-ups. I still have an appetite, but eating makes me feel too full no matter the amount. I also have stabbing pains, bloating, burning, and gas. I've been to the doctor and the ER for it multiple times, but they can't seem to find a cause for the issues. I won't mention this to the GI doctor when I do finally see them, but I will explain my symptoms. If this is my problem, then it should be an easier healing process for me because I'm already on busprone for my anxiety. I had no idea it helped stomach issues. My psychiatrist also wants to start me on Mirtazapine because of the amount of weight loss I've had. I can't take Ppis or H2 blockers because I'm also on zoloft and it doesn't mix well with them. I really enjoyed watching this. I don't want to self diagnose but I have a lot of the symptoms you listed so its given me peace of mind to think my issues could be something less severe then gastritis or gallbladder issues. I've had too many test run that have came out normal. I was at a loss for what my problems could be. Now I might have an idea.

Hello, I'm here to help, and I'm going to tell you the core of the problem that's causing the Abdominal issues, low Stomach Acid, the feeling Full after small meals, the stomach burning, Acid reflux, Peptic Ulcers, the stabbing pain, and so on, is something called Cholangitis, which we are never told, because they don't know. Our Stomach issues, due to a blockage within the Biliary Tree, Bile becomes restricted( High Bilirubin), and Cholesterol becomes elevated, and it becomes an issue with the Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen, stomach, and Intestines, and so on. All this is a sign of Gallstones, and the proper procedure is an ERCP, which is only performed by a Gastroenterologist, a powerful, non surgical method to remove them all, from blocking your flow within the abdominal system. Stop all Fried Foods, stop using cooking oil, yes omega 3s and 6 Oils, or any, no matter how healthy they appear, stop butter, Bacon, and anything with grease, because this provokes the already clogged Gallbladder, and to try and secret Bile, while being blocked, and causing it to spasm... Only boil and bake, and add a little Sea Salt.
I have a sister-friend with bilateral Vestibular neuropathy defined as bilateral loss of homeostasis balance that is connected to her vegus nerves to her stomach. I truly believe she has FD secondary to bilateral Vestibular neuropathy.
Interesting, One suggestion is to encourage her to see a gastroenterologist for an accurate diagnosis and related treatment options. Thank you for sharing.
