  • Welcome to Ready2RaceRC! I'm going to be chronicling my venture into 8th scale electric and nitro buggy racing. Which will include car breakdowns, fixes, track practice, tinkering and of course some bashing for fun!

    Can’t go wrong with a Losi, raced hard core from 2000 - 2004 mostly off road 1/10 2wd stadium trucks, I won over 40 trophies on off road tracks and I won the 2003 dirt oval points championship at Coopers RC in Calonds VA, fastest banked dirt oval on the east coast. I got to race with Tony Stewart there a couple times, he was a egotistical snob so I put him into the wall every chance I got 😂🤣 I raced mostly Losi, The first time I raced a Losi Nitro 1/8 4wd buggy I was in love, I didn’t care to race 2wd 1/10 anymore, 1/8 scale is where it’s at for me.. Sadly I broke my back in 2004 so I just couldn’t afford it anymore, I love watching others having fun learning to race though, Slow and consistent is 100% better, throttle control and tires are key to winning races and lots and lots of practice…Keep it up 👍✌🏻

      Man the Rc racing hobby seemed so fun in the Early 2000s from what I hear, wish I was around to see it change over the years, but yeah man these little losi’s are great! Way better than traxxas and arrma especially around the Track! Also thats awesome you raced with Tony Stewart😂, was he actually any good at Rc? That’s terrible to hear you broke your back though, hope your doing well and living life to its fullest❤️ God Bless.

    That car is a great car to start with! Ask your race director (graham) which tires are best up there. Tires are 50% of the game. Best fluids go heavy/heavy/light in the rear. 7/7/3 for example. You’re local-ish so we’ll see you around the track!

    Nice video. The tray is designed for race packs, such as Gens Ace Redline which are lower profile than that big Zee battery you got. They include additional battery straps for the taller batteries. The stock straps are designed for two 2S shorty packs that lie front to back in that long battery tray. Hope that explains it.

      @@RazorRC Dude Razor! Love your channel! I kinda figured it was a dual setup but was thrown off when it recommends the 4s spektrum smart battery and doesn’t have the dual battery leads like a lot of Arrma cars with spektrum components. Thanks so much for the clarification! Cheers!

    • @Puertorrican_Power
      @Puertorrican_Power 7 месяцев назад

      I guess you can go with one of those High Voltage batteries used for planes that are usually longer and thinner than regular lipos. You can set it up right in the middle of the tray for better weight distribution

    • @Ready2RaceRC-s2z
      @Ready2RaceRC-s2z  7 месяцев назад

      @@Puertorrican_Power yeah very strange why they didn’t include that. That’s a good idea, I may look into that. The batteries I received after this vid did fit. The ones I mentioned. But it’s still a bit tight.

    • @Puertorrican_Power
      @Puertorrican_Power 7 месяцев назад

      @@Ready2RaceRC-s2z probably you know this already, but when racing you want to go as light weight as possible. Even when that battery did fit, as you said, it is a little tight and too heavy at 6000 mah or more. In racing buggies I like to go below 5000mah, more like close to 4000mah. That will also help with the car feeling quicker and snappier on the corners. Also, a thinner battery will means a LCG. Try a HV, thinner battery around 4000 and see how you like it. Sure, run time might be less, but that only matters on long races.

    The trick to the battery tray is ordering the 8ight kit battery tray... it can be had for about 25$ and takes about 5-7mm off that RTR battery tray. I think they added the extra height to the RTR tray so people would be more compelled to buy the spektrum battery as its a bit slimmer. If you pick up the kit tray, the tray sits flush against the chassis and you can run 37mm batteries no problem.

      @@Ready2RaceRC-s2z Yep, I was really surprised in the added height of the battery tray in the RTR vs the Kit tray. I did have the dremel a couple of screws down just s small bit as they were a bit too long when using the kit tray. TLR241071 is the part number, comes with some extra parts as well that will be good for spares.

    The car is intended for two 2S shorty batteries in series, which is how it is on the 8X 2.0 kit. there are other velcro straps, shorter ones for the shorty setup, longer ones for a 4s brick pack. there is also an LCG 4s brick pack available that allows the body to sit lower.
    The reason they designed it around two 2s shorty packs was for weight distribution and center of gravity.
    Also, highly recommend not using soft case lipos in a car like this as it is a huge risk for potential fire.

    Not sure where you got your info on diff fluids but for me I always have a highest fluid in the center then a slight lower in front with the rear having the lowest so an example is 7 for front 10 for center and 3 for rear. Having lighter fluid in the front causes "diff out" around turns. Just a thought.

      @@speedgears1236 I agree as I’ve heard this more commonly. The racer who recommended this was a team Losi driver so I figured give it a shot. He did say 10-10-10 or 10-10-7.

    I think it’s a pretty cool rtr race basher with strong emphasis on basher. Great if you’re not sure you really want to get into racing but want to try it. It’s competitive in the club racing scene since most beginners in that science are hitting pipes, running into other drivers and learning how to drive. If you really like it I would recommend getting a true racing kit with a legit radio, batteries and electronics. Just sell the rtr. Not worth upgrading it to race quality.
