I got to take one for a spin on the Silver Dollar 1/8 scale track. It actually did comparable lap times to my Losi 8ight-X/E 2.0. I hope they do an RTR Truggy version cause I would buy one. I want to race Truggies but not in the mood to build like I used to be. With some setup/tuning, I don't see why it won't be very competitive on a mature level. Plus you can upgrade parts like the shock towers and braces when they bend. The suspension is plush and tunable. They knocked it out of the park with this RTR. This was an excellent rundown of the buggy. Razer Rc has the most thorough RC Car reviews on RUclips.
Mine just keeps improving at my track as I make little tweaks to it. Had to turn the throttle rate down to 70% on the radio and the punch down to 5 from 7 on the programming and turned the brake up to the 87%. So far my best few laps have been within a full second of the top 3 driver at our track.
I think your rating system is the best out there, and you explain it concisely. It's one of the things that keeps me coming back. Can't understand why people have trouble with it.
personally i prefer the overall higher quality build of finish of my HoBao Hyper VS2-E brushless electric racing buggy , over the more average build quality of the higher priced losi . Obviously with the HoBao you can buy the rolling chassis or the RTR versions . But the quality finish for your money , the HoBao hyper VS2-E is tops . The RTR HoBao Hyper VS2-E may not have a sensored motor , but it's perfectly torquey large can size is extremely controllable and tune-able . I have yet to see a higher quality build finish 8th scale buggy come to market than the VS2-E . The interesting thing is for racing you don't necessarily need the 7075 chassis plate for the HoBao . Both the HoBao 3 mm stock chassis plate and the upgrade 7075 chassis plate are exactly the same weight . With the HoBao there is no additional advantage of upgrading to the 7075 version of the chassis for racing as the whole chassis structure and it's bracing is absolutely solid and strong for racing . HoBao has one of the best build quality durability on the market , better than ARRMA , LOSI , HPI , KYOSHO etc . Some take issue with HoBao's RTR versions radio transmitter set , but there is actually nothing wrong with it , it works and it does the job , but it's absolutely no hardship to use a radio transmitter / receiver of your preferred choice . The VS2-E buggy however is a piece of quality design with excellent technical specification . Personally i don't jump bash any of my RC'S , i like to keep them firmly planted on tarmac ground , unless there is some undulating parts of tarmac road that might make it slightly leave the ground for a couple of seconds . 😎 .
Great review really enjoyed it and it handles and drives so well. I ordered mine from Tower Hobbies, I was able to use a discount code and I had about $125 in points also so I got mine for an awesome price. You can not touch this thing out of the box for entry level racing with any kit on the market for value. I’ve got to paint mine on days off but I can’t wait to get it to the track.
other than my awful choice of paint color, i am so stoked on this car 🤣my first run on this car was my first time on an 8 scale dirt track it holy crap did it handle well! after a few laps i just felt so comfortable driving this, hitting doubles and triples perfectly. this is not a basher by any means, buy a kraton 4/6/8 if you want a buggy to jump, this is a racer! and yeah, the body is super thick like you mentioned

I bent the chassis on mine after 4 races and it also broke the front diff case where the screws from the steering brace go into the diff case. I replaced the chassis with a TLR chassis and it did the exact same thing. I really wish it would've been a little tougher. This was my first eighth scale race buggy and I'm very disappointed. It's very fast though just not tough. I see you have the TLR chassis also. Did your stock chassis bend as well? I really like it I just wish I could get the screws to stop popping out of the front diff case. The fan on my esc stopped working also.

Need more info: what scale, on-road or off-road, buggy, truck, truggy, racing or bashing, etc. Everything has pros and cons and people are looking for different things. I have lots of reviews on RC cars and you can find what fits your needs the best.
Losi is not what they used to be. Tomorrows prices and support with 3 years ago technology and driver support. Great review, nothing negative about your video or opinion. I really appreciate your insight. I wish Losi would get back on their game. In the U.S. we need more two innovative brands. I will argue spektrum servos and electronics are lacking.
Who does rtr electronics better than Spektrum? I'll not argue they're the best out there but for rtr stuff, it's up there. Besides it mostly looks suspiciously like Hobbywing stuff.
I knew I was going to want the kit chassis myself and should not be lazy and bought the kit but I’m not sending it so far trying to treat like a race car , when TLR typhon came out I made plexiglass undercarriage I kept it nice for a while now it’s my daily I just swap parts as the wear but chassis held up the upgrades aren’t worth putting on my new build cosmetically you said something made a lot of sense when trying explain how the two buggies are different, typhon calling it Mike Tyson 😂 makes sense biggest punch while others intricate quality
You can use the tires, tire nuts, and pinion gear. The rest is a completely different buggy. The Arrman used to be Team Durango which are not even close to being the same. TLR Tuned is what Horizon did to push it as a race buggy. I'm pretty sure they held LOSI at gunpoint to add tuning accessories to it. lol
After paying $629 I think it should have better tuning abilities. It’s less race ready if you can’t tune it the way you want it. So we can describe this as a sensored motor basher. Sorry Losi because I think you missed the mark with this rtr especially because of the outrageous price. Horizon Hobby needs counsel.
How’s it outrageous? The kit itself is over $600 and doesn’t come with anything. Plus the kit parts are cross compatible from my understanding. For getting into 1/8th scale racing, this is $629 versus around $2000 for a kit build, and you can drop in upgrades from the kit if and when you feel like it.

I had one set up like that for a while now I just blow new one to do the same went to get xr8 pro so can do 6s but I think need new program box

Yes, I'm running the TLR chassis and I'm running 2mm longer screws where it bolts to the diff case.

They've definitely done less in the racing scene the last few years, especially 1/10.
I have a 11 year old Losi 1/8 scale and it still does great at the track. Only things I have ever broke are a rear wing and a lower shock mount.

Do you realize that the kit alone is $730??? Every race kit out there is at least $630, and most are around $700.
