I really appreciate the closer examination of the motors in rtr cars and think you should do it more often because that is a huge indicator of the quality and how long it will last.
42mph in grass is kick A$$! Losi has always been great. I still have my Kinwald XXX edition sporting ancient Novak electronics. I want to get back in but don't know where to dive lol. I did buy DDF-350 just because it was super cheap (I can't find my old M8) nice channel!!
I think that chassis material is what the Typhon 6S uses. I scratched it up pretty bad running it on a track, but never bent. Despite me chucking it off the triple till I landed one.
I just picked up the esc and motor combo for $100 never ran. I’m not sure if I should run it or flip it? I would be most likely running it in a rustler 4x4 for heavy bashing.
Awesome video as always.. That ramp you have out bashing sure has a really short and sharply rising ramp... I was wondering that must place some stress on the chassis as its almost like hitting a wall at those high speeds.. Looks like a fantastic buggy..
Yes the ramp very steep and puts a lot of stress on the vehicles. The area in which I'm bashing is very small so I need to have that angle to not end up in the neighbor's yard :-) It's also good for testing as it does put a lot of stress on things and I've actually broken a couple of cars just hitting the ramp.
Great video and I think it’s a great buggy for track or some bashing by the looks of it. I’m awaiting mine. I preordered it and it should be here next week on Wednesday! I plan to run mine on our outdoor track and the backyard for a bit of jumping. I don’t bash hard. And always liked Losi buggies they handle and drive great.
They are £650 over here in the UK. Corally have several similar RTR cars that are far cheaper. When you can buy a Corally Asuga XLR RTR 6S for £529, I just don't see the market for this Losi.
Yeah for sure where you live makes a huge difference. The pricing is quite a bit closer here in the US though the losi is more expensive. To be fair though it is a race car. I'm just using it as a basher :-)
I really like the look of their new RTR truggy. But my experience with Losi means I'll end up with a £600 paperweight within 18 months that I can't get parts for
Yeah the truggy looks good. I would have gotten one but it's too similar to this to spend the money on for me. I don't have a ton of experience with them do they tend to discontinue things and not have parts available?
@@DoRC You'll have things better there but they do in my experience. Micro-T, Mini-T, Mini 8ight, LST 2, LST2 XXL, Mini LST2 and the Mini 8ight-T are all discontinued and that's just the ones I've had lol
_I could tell immediately that the 6S battery is just too freakin' heavy for this chassis!_ _(6S Battery is reserved for at minimum Asuga size buggies!)_
I've been waiting for this one! Thanks for the review, I've been waiting to see how the Losi 8IGHT-XE holds up to bashing. Looks like it handles very well and jumps very well. Durability can always be improved, but good handling is often limited to the platform. Definitely a huge con that the motor and ESC are soldered together, cutting them voids the 2 year warranty.
Yeah that's the race car way though. I do understand why they did it. And this thing definitely handles really well out of the box. Even on the slick wet grass I was speed running on it barely needed any correction to stay straight and turned well.
Great Great review I just ordered one for getting started in RC Racing!! This seemed like the best value to get started! Amin threw in a t-shirt when I ordered lol. I love that it comes with the dx3. As I'm just starting out I'm probably going to need that! Do you shoot in 4k your videos come across really clear!👍
No I shoot in 1080p but upscale to 1440p for upload to RUclips to take advantage of a higher available bit rate. What do you think of my audio? Be honest.
Honestly I think it sounds good! If you don't have a mic that go pro is working good! It sounds good, I can hear emotion and tone changes in your voice and everything. Now it doesn't sound like your speaking directly into a mic but I like that. It's good man your killing my friend! 💪 The thing I love most is your proving that you don't have to be over the top energetic or have tons of special effects and memes to make GREAT videos! Straight to the point, very informative videos!💪
@ReactionRC okay that's good. I actually have a pretty high-end shotgun microphone but the area in which I record is terrible for audio so I've kind of struggled with it over the years. I still think it kind of sounds bad but I guess most people probably don't notice
I sometimes just drive and do jumps/flips etc without wings as they occasionally imo have increased the dage to car when crashes occur. Not always but occasionally imo. That also depends on the surface you land on. Do tghe wings even increase the downforce on vehicle when driving under 60 mph? I have my doubts, but idk. They do look cool tho. I always enjoy your content and have benefited from your advice repeatedly. TY kindly for that. I recommend to consider possibly buying a strong magnet or perhaps a metal detector to sweep your lawn with, to find missing parts (dogbones/pins etc) It has paid for itself tenfold for me. Great video. Happy trails.
Generally speaking no the wing doesn't really do much of anything. Maybe in racing conditions it has a small effect but for the most part it's just for show. I've taken the wing off of a lot of my vehicles. I used to always add a front bumper to the rear of my outcasts
I wasn't stoked on the bashing at first I was thinking "this ain't bashing" lol but it got better after hitting the ramps, now get it out there & bash it on dirt, concrete & see how it holds up? "Insert a rich duperbash or rcdude81 vid here!" I would say it's more of a race buggy than bash where the TLR Typhon is more bash than race, but anything can be bashed! Anyway really good break down & explanation of everything & great vid, will definitely be watching to see what more you do with it!🤙🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yeah I'll leave the crazy distance jumps to them. I think the type of bashing I do is hard enough on the vehicles. This is proven at least to me by the fact that I break pretty much every vehicle I own with that same bashing style.
I really like this channel. I think it's the best technical videos out here. You never waste our time. Thank you. As far as the buggy, i don't think there is a way to race anywhere remotely around me. I have lots of bash spots though. I'd go TLR Typhon. What i really want is a big 1/5 Typhon or whatever brand will build me a giant electric buggy.
@@DoRC I have. It's top of my list if something bigger isn't released this year. I'm wanting a DBXLE sized Typhon. Horizon has everything they need for it except a body and maybe tires.
Ive got the TLR built as a nitro. Bought this one and put everything i could from the electric kit onto it. Primarily the motor mount and the piece u der the center diff as well as the battery tray. Essentially free mods if i already had them right? Lol
@@DoRC Yeah, same chassis. the battery tray was not exactly perfect but bolted in fine. The motor mount and brace under the center diff fit without issue
ahhh damnit you beat me to it, my goddamn LHS said they'd have this thing in early last week and it still hasn't shown up yet. i was looking forward to having a teardown and review video up this week! i'm really excited about this one, my first race-style 8 scale, and even better its a LOSI!
@@DoRC will do! there's an epic RC track north of me called DieHard RC, it's the only 8th scale track in western WA and even has camping accommodations
How did that 6s ESC fit in there? How did the 6s battery fit in there? My friend is having me convert his to 6s. He tried to have someone else do it and they did a hack job. They used his Talion 6s motor and ESC and the ESC is too big and hits the body and the servo arm is hitting the ESC. I tried to talk him out of making it a 6s car but that’s what he wants to do. What battery were you using exactly? Thanks.
ESC fit fine once I removed the little bracket on the mounting plate. A standard 6S battery isn't going to fit under the body. I used a fairly short 4000 mAh 6s battery and it touched the body but was okay. You might be better off using two 3S low profile batteries as the battery tray is pretty long.
@@DoRC yeah I’ve been searching for a 6s battery that will fit. I even made a mock up battery out of cardboard to see the max battery I could get in there and NONE of the 6s batteries I could find are gonna fit. The only shorty 3s batteries I can find that will fit are 4300mah batteries. I think I’m going to have modify the battery tray or put a all together differemt battery tray in it so I can mount a battery all the way down to the chassis and that will give me the option of a 48-50mm tall battery. How was the run time with that 4000mah 6s battery you used? Can you tell me the exact battery you used Tao I can look it up and check out its dimensions. I could use the help. A friend wants is converted to 6s and I’m trying to save him from someone who already let him down and hacked up 2 ESC’s and returned the car to him with the steering assembly hitting the ESC and the body wears t even close to going on. Total hack job. Can you please tell me the exact battery you used and general run time. I’d appreciate any input further you may have. Thank you.
@@joshuajkoplin 4300 might not be too bad. A 4,300 6s battery in a fairly light buggy like that should give you pretty decent run time. But yeah it's one of the inherent issues with buggies. This body actually is a little bit more forgiving than some of them out there but they all are seriously limited in battery height. You could try just removing the battery tray entirely and figuring out some way to mount the battery directly to the chassis. Again the battery I used isn't going to help you because it technically didn't fit. It was rubbing on the body really badly. Was a 4,000 mAh battery and I didn't exactly time run time but it felt reasonable.
That was a quick response. Thanks! I think I’m going to cut the entire floor out of the battery trays and mount it with brackets. That way a battery can sink all the way to the chassis. Do you have a FB? I’d like to share with you my progress and bounce some ideas. -Josh
@@joshuajkoplin no sorry I don't. I do have an email address in my about section that you can see if you're looking at RUclips on desktop. Feel free to shoot me an email there.
_This is indeed the bare minimum for someone who might think they want to get into racing! For its intended purpose, I think Losi knocked it out the park with this RTR!_
Definitely. I think that testing it in bashing is important as well though because most people who buy an RTR car like this will probably also use it for bashing purposes.
@@FrankvdBerg Well to be fair the basic four-wheel drive aluminum chassis center differential shaft driven buggy design and layout has been around for a really long time and most buggies follow That same basic formula.
This is based on the 2.0 platform. The chassis definitely has holes in it for a nitro engine and I believe since the 2.0 platform has the ability to run either one it should be nitro compatible but I'm not sure to what degree or what you would need
I don't remember specifically but it was a fairly decent battery. Maybe SMC? Things can look different in video than they do in person So that might have something to do with it.
I often wonder the saving on casting the knuckles etc, instead of making it cheaper through volume. How much do those downgrades save Losi over providing higher spec items?
Casting aluminum is far less expensive than machining it from a solid block. You use less material and there's very little post-processing that needs to be done. Machining something from a solid block of metal is pretty much the most expensive way to make something.
This buggy looks like serious business to me. Hope to get a chance to race against it and the Corally buggy one of these days with my Arrma typhon 6s. I really want to put together some park field races here in Arizona for RC racing for us guys / gals to have like a run race what you bring deal in one of the outdoor parks.
Maxx Slash body is pretty tough! I like it when they make the bodies rugged. Because after all, that’s why I have the people buy RC cars they like the body. I’m trying to flood your stream to get some ratings up. I hope I hope you get more subs. This is a good channel.
How does this compare to a Kyosho Mp-10e ready set (rtr)? Not really looking to bash just looking to throw down some laps at my local track. Nothing competitive
I'm probably not the best person to answer this question because I don't have any experience with the MP 10E and I'm not really a racer but I would imagine they'll probably be pretty similar. They're both fairly recent releases and are cost cut versions of competitive race buggies. For just having fun at the track I think either one of them would be fine.
For sure. They are definitely good buggies as well. I've owned a couple of the VS versions. The only real problem is the lack of support in the US. Hobao Just doesn't really seem interested in selling their products here
@@nickhathaway4617 they do. It's just that as a whole they don't seem super interested in the US market. I've never really had a problem getting parts from them specifically it's just an overall feeling
@@DoRC ya after there on road and latest monster truck was hoping more people would get them so they could grow over here. There just as good if not better than traxxas and arrma. If m2c or justbashit made parts for them they would be crazy
That's a tough one. They're both really good. I would say if you're going to be doing more bashing get the typhon if you're going to be doing some racing get the Losi
I’m going to get this today, my yard tracks so treacherous though , and the Arrmas really are better , I can beat em up over and over , rain mud ect , than I have rcs I spend time even Arrmas I just keep away from dirt or wait for nice weather and time to groom a track or go to the park . You have to see the Arrmas I run daily to understand lol , but I forget how many hours I actually do have on the TLR typhon before it got past point no return , needs rear diff all hinge pin braces could be arms too axle pins everything 😂, I figure I wait for them to go on sale and I just keep it going , even the kuran motor I have to change the bearings or get couple new ones . Far as longevity and performance I’d probably been better off with Losi , but it’s time consuming and expensive while Arrmas cheap bigger “ and easy to work on . They’re all awesome 👏
Yeah they definitely both have their advantages and disadvantages and long-term use is not something I am super experienced with simply because I have a lot of vehicles so none of them get that much usage. I would say in my experience the TLR and this buggy feel pretty comparable in most ways. The TLR obviously has more power but I'm not sure it's useful power.
@RoostedFilms I think they have a an all-in-one censored system in a crawler or something but I can't remember exactly what it is. This is the first system like this that's sensored
It will probably do 50 mph on asphalt or smooth dirt as grass robs lots of speed. It is an offroad buggy so top speed on aspalt doesn't matter anyway. Definitely one of the nicest RTR buggies.
Run it at the track. Not really a complete review until that happens? I guess limited review. I still enjoyed but ya, would love to see a review like yours on and off the track. Maybe next time. Thanks for the review!
Yeah that was a rendering problem. I didn't notice until after the video posted. I rerendered the video and they weren't there the second time. I've never seen that before and I have no idea what caused it.
@user-bi8ys4ts2e with that tall of grass you probably don't want to bash a buggy. I'd recommend getting a truggy. Buggies are low enough to the ground that you're going to be dealing with a lot of drag from the grass and it's probably not going to drive very well and you're going to be dealing with overheating issues.
Yeah for sure. It's a great all-around car and the awesome thing is that it seems like it's basically completely upgradable to the full 2.0 spec and you can do that slowly over time
We got the Typhon, Sworkz Apollo II, Serpent SRX8e, Kyosho MP10e, this new 8ight, HPI Vorza S, Hobao Hyper VS2E, Hong Nor X3e, and many more from slightly less known brands. Any more and the market could be oversaturated.
@@DoRC If Associated wanted to come out with an RC8B4 rtr I’m sure nobody would stop them, but there’s already a buggy that fits all sorts of different needs.
That I don't know. It's based on the XE 2.0 platform which is TLR's latest 1/8 scale race buggy so I would imagine it would be fairly decent out of the box and you have the opportunity in the future to upgrade to all the more racy bits.
Unfortunately that's a bit too general of a question to answer. If you can get a really clean low use roller for not much money that would almost certainly be the way to go but if you are just getting into RC you might not be able to determine whether or not what you're getting will be in good shape just from pictures or even just from looking at it in person. In that case buying new is better because you know what you're getting.
@DoRC I have a question. I have a 2wd team associated 10th scale buggy. I was on a tight I bought a traxxas tqi transmitter, that I currently use with it. I always hear they are bad but I've never tried anything else, How much better control should I expect with a better brand transmitter?
@creditrazer981 Getting a used Tekno is honestly the best deal. The typhon uses lesser quality parts and an out dated ball suspension system. The drivetrain on the TLR trucks and Arrma trucks are just not up to par in spec nor resign
Cool looking buggy but can you get parts for it losi is now owned by horizon hobby which has not been supporting their losi line for at least a year Anybody's got information about that that would be great
California in the US , has had the 5th scale racing championships . In the US you do have a manner of all types of RC racing , including 5th scale , 8th scale and 10th scale .
I guess that's a really good buggy, and if i was interested in racing I would definitely consider buying one, but I'm more of a basher, and I don't really trust buggies for bashing, so I would probably take smth like am Arrma kraton 6s for bashing, or Team Corally Cagama
@@DoRC I probably didn’t have the right buggy, because I had Wltoys 144010 and 124017 v2, which were braking really easy while bashing So mabye I should try smth bigger and more suitable for bashing?
I agree. Some people think that everything has to go 60 miles an hour but especially on a vehicle like this you just can't use that power. 40 miles an hour is plenty fast
Advertising as a 4s vehicle is nice because they can optimize the gearing for that voltage, most rtr’s are under-geared on 4s because they have to survive driving in all conditions on 6s. Stock out the box speed runs in my opinion are one of the least informative aspects of a review/overview, as it can be changed with little to no effort for less than $15
@vivos71 Yeah I agree with this to some degree though a lot of people probably won't ever change the gearing so I do think that it's practical off-road top speed is worthwhile to know.
@@DoRC I like my off road vehicles to do around 50mph and that's pretty fast for me at least. But I've been driving around my Syncro 4 at 34mph off road, and it doesn't feel "slow". Maybe it's because it's small.
For the chassis what is the chassis the same as??? Does it have the same chassis as the 8ight XE or is it the 8ight X/E 2.0???? Any help would be great
As far as I know the chassis is the same layout as the 2.0. they're a little ambiguous about this on their website but looking at the whole spacing and the fact that it has the provisions for a nitro motor that is my assumption.
@@sdyksterhouse Yeah I am pretty sure that a protector for the 2.0 will fit this but as I did not have a 2.0 directly compare it to I'm not 100% certain
Yeah should be good for that. I'm sure it isn't competitive at the absolute bleeding edge of racing but for just general having fun and club racing it should be just fine
I definitely understand where you're coming from but that's just not the part of the hobby I'm into. As shown in the video it's also a basher :-) in my experience race cars often make the best bashers cuz they're built really well.
I would say it depends on your goals and your budget. If you want to spend less in are only interested in packing go for the synchro. If you don't mind spending more and might end up running it on a track go for the losi
That's a tough one. It is a lot of money but it's being sold as an entry level ready to rock race buggy so in that category I'd say it's a reasonable price. For a basher that's a tougher cell given the competition.
It seems too me that the arrma tlr is still a better value. The real question are these parts going to go on the tlr. Yet sorry to say hobao has everyone beat in the buggy game, though if corally drops a full track version. I am very sure it would put some in its place. If you have seen one tekno win a race you have seen them all. Hmmmmm let's see what 1/8th scale buggy shall join the team
Yeah I think it depends on what your goals are. If you want to be able to seriously race and bash I think this would be a better option as the Typhon really isn't a race buggy but honestly I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one and someone who is seriously racing probably wouldn't buy either one anyway.
Sorry to say but TEKNO has them all beat! I'd put my TEKNO EB2.1 against any 1/8 buggy! Hell I'd put my clapped out eb48.3 buggy against any buggy! TEKNO WINS EVERYTIME!
Got Me a live one, tekno like Mr roboto. Unfortunately HB has tekno beat and tekno knows it, not only on the track and on paper but in the bedroom too, as tekno likes it doggy style, you know taking it up the A!! God bless see yall on the tracks shortly. I just might visit all the tracks and give them a whirl Earl. And for the tekno guy I will put hash marks beneath my chassis for every tekno I eat on the tracks. PEACE
im pretty vain when it comes to looks with RC's and that thing looks awfully boxy, why cant they make 1/8 buggies look cool anymore?, i know its possible the old serpent 811 electric comes to mind
Fair enough but don't you think it's at least possible that those who are just getting into racing might also take their car and do some light bashing with it?
I've bashed the crap out of (and rebuilt repeatedly) my Tenacity TT Pro.........thinking this might be my next hot rod/shelf queen. If anyone can think of a reason I should consider another car, please share your opinion. This would be my second RC, only in the hobby for a year or so.
Will the car mostly be for bashing. If it is I'm not sure this will be most economical option. This is really designed as a race car and it just happens to be a good basher. Check out the TC spark. It's cheaper handles pretty close to as well and will run on 6S out of the box
@@DoRC I'd likely keep the Tenacity to bash, this just for parade laps and speed runs....race later, maybe. (The similarity to the short course truck shortens the repair learning curve, too.)
If you're looking for a pure basher you could definitely do worse than that but this is more of a race buggy that also is a good basher. The Vorza is a tank but It also weighs as much as a tank :-)
The Vorza and RTR Losi both have the same weight and same (yet uncommon) 4mm chassis and 2200kv motor - and they look the same - I am betting they both use the same base car.
@@berringaboy they definitely don't use the same base car they're pretty different under the hood. That being said exactly how much does the Vorza s weigh and exactly how much does the Losi weigh? I wasn't able to find any weight specification online For either one of them but I've owned both of them and I have a really hard time believing that they weigh the same.
@@DoRC Well, you said the Vorza was heavy like a tank, so I assume you know the weight. There are not any race performance differences between the two bodies.
@berringaboy I don't know the exact weight I've just been around both of them and the Vorza extensively. I found some roundabout weights and the Vorza is about 11 lb while the 8ight is around 8 lb. That's a pretty big difference. Also the Vorza is known for being a heavy buggy. It's not a secret. The 8ight is a purpose-built race buggy and the Vorza is a purpose-built basher buggy. I would recommend buying one of each and comparing them for yourself :-)
I actually found this dog bone with the poor man's metal detector (magnet on a string) but you're right getting an actual metal detector would probably be a good idea
you want to see a thick body , look at the 14th scale LC RACING EMB-RA RALLY CAR body shell , which has a really thick pvc based polycarbonate body shell 🤣🤣🤣
When will losi fking learn to stop having clam shells separate at dif input bearings, always issues with those. Gives me baja rey v1 relase ptsd with front bulkhead. They couldnt do it right for front bulkhead which had less load than rear and now they do it again for rear and high power vehicle, hell nah Even in ideal world where the clam shells are designed and manufactured perfectly this will fail, you overtighten one screw a bit and leave other too lose, its pita to shim and it always needs shims. Deal breaker for this car
Light bashing at best. Pretty sad its using dog bones up front. Losi will never be the same after horizon ruined them. For $20 more you can buy an arrma kraton 6s exb
It has universals in the front. I think this is a good car for people who want to do light bashing and some racing but if you want to do pure bashing then yes you'd be better off with something else
The HoBao Hyper VS2-E race buggy has higher build quality than the losi , despite the fact that the losi has a sensored motor and ESC combo , and the losi is more expensive than the VS2 . Personally i think the losi is overpriced poor value for money . For a RTR 8TH scale buggy , no other RTR buggy out there has the quality as a whole sum of it's parts of the HoBao Hyper VS2 . Reminds of RC traxxas , also overpriced poor value for money but popular in the US RC market , but here in the UK TRAXXAS ranks near the bottom of RC tier market , because we in the UK have way better quality value RC'S than traxxas .

I'd recommend googling brushless motor timing or how a brushless motor works etc to learn more as it would be way too much to put in a comment
I can definitely understand the 7075 parts as they are really nice on the TLR but I'm becoming less and less convinced that 6s is necessary on these buggies. This 4s system is as much power as I ever think I would need on this buggy.

@@DoRC You'll have things better there but they do in my experience. Micro-T, Mini-T, Mini 8ight, LST 2, LST2 XXL, Mini LST2 and the Mini 8ight-T are all discontinued and that's just the ones I've had lol

_I could tell immediately that the 6S battery is just too freakin' heavy for this chassis!_
_(6S Battery is reserved for at minimum Asuga size buggies!)_
Maybe though this specific 6s battery is actually pretty small and doesn't weigh any more than the 4S battery that I had in there.

@@ReactionRC me too :-)
I sometimes just drive and do jumps/flips etc without wings as they occasionally imo have increased the dage to car when crashes occur.
Are losi spare parts cheap and ezsily available worldwide ?
I always tend to buy Traxxas RC's because of the spare parts supply and prices.
I'm not sure. They're fairly inexpensive and readily available here in the United States for the most part but I can't speak to globally

As far as the buggy, i don't think there is a way to race anywhere remotely around me. I have lots of bash spots though. I'd go TLR Typhon.

@VS666 Nice! I actually have a pretty decent track just about 5 minutes from my house. I need to actually go there sometime
-Josh

Its not that special. Kyosho is doing this for years and the Neo Inferno 3.0 is basicaly the same car.
@@FrankvdBerg Well to be fair the basic four-wheel drive aluminum chassis center differential shaft driven buggy design and layout has been around for a really long time and most buggies follow That same basic formula.
@@DoRC i agree. What i dont understand os why they did not put batterys on both sides. Thats more like how racers are these days
@@FrankvdBerg I'm not certain but my guess would be it was a constraint of making the car compatible with both nitro and electric setups.
Are these compatible with the .21 nitro buggy..thinking about switch it to electric?
This is based on the 2.0 platform. The chassis definitely has holes in it for a nitro engine and I believe since the 2.0 platform has the ability to run either one it should be nitro compatible but I'm not sure to what degree or what you would need
What were you running for a battery? I took mine out for the first time yesterday and yours looks substantially slower
I don't remember specifically but it was a fairly decent battery. Maybe SMC? Things can look different in video than they do in person So that might have something to do with it.

The tear down are my favorite part from thanks man
Glad you enjoy. They're my favorite part too :-)
I often wonder the saving on casting the knuckles etc, instead of making it cheaper through volume.

Probably not. It usually doesn't make sense for the channel to buy things that have been out for a while and I kind of miss the boat on those.
I always like how you upgrade the electronics in 1 video. I really do like the look of it, esp the body.
Thanks Glad you enjoy. Yeah it looks really good and it's also an incredibly durable body. I don't know if I've ever seen a body this thick before

Yeah this is the thickest body I've ever seen. It's so thick that I almost wonder if mine was a mistake.
Hobao Vs or Vs2 would be interesting up against this.
We have Vs pro in uk aswell with mostly all 7075 parts.

Hello.. New subscriber here. Plan to purchase this kit.. True that they switched to metric now, and which kits?
As far as I know they've been metric for a while. Everything on this kit at least was metric.

@user-bi8ys4ts2e with that tall of grass you probably don't want to bash a buggy. I'd recommend getting a truggy. How competitive would it be in racing?
That I don't know. It's based on the XE 2.0 platform which is TLR's latest 1/8 scale race buggy so I would imagine it would be fairly decent out of the box and you have the opportunity in the future to upgrade to all the more racy bits.
@DoRC would it better to start here, or buy a used racing chassis a model back from a racer that's upgrading?
Unfortunately that's a bit too general of a question to answer. If you can get a really clean low use roller for not much money that would almost certainly be the way to go but if you are just getting into RC you might not be able to determine whether or not what you're getting will be in good shape just from pictures or even just from looking at it in person. In that case buying new is better because you know what you're getting.

They do definitely make a premium product but you pay a premium price for it too.
@creditrazer981 Getting a used Tekno is honestly the best deal. The typhon uses lesser quality parts and an out dated ball suspension system. The drivetrain on the TLR trucks and Arrma trucks are just not up to par in spec nor resign
Dog bones??? That's weird should be cvd's, guess there's gonna be some cost cuts compared to a tlr rig. Not bad for an rtr though.

42 mph stock is pretty respectable off road speed 👍
I agree. Some people think that everything has to go 60 miles an hour but especially on a vehicle like this you just can't use that power. 40 miles an hour is plenty fast
Offroad buggies for racing are geared 40-46mph depending on track size

It seems too me that the arrma tlr is still a better value. The real question are these parts going to go on the tlr.
Hobao VS2E is better price wise , durability wise and you can race and bash it … superb buggy 👍
What parts have you broken on the 8ight RTR?
Kyosho Inferno Neo
I'll have to give one of those a try. It's been a long time since I've had an inferno. Have they made a new version anytime recently?
@@DoRC Unfortunately no. But a lot of things are cross compatible from other Infernos that have come along.
@@alphawlff gotcha.
Invest in a Metal detector. Find all your missing parts
I'll take a look :-)
metal detector your back lawn...
Yeah I actually found this axle shaft using the poor man's metal detector which is a magnet on a string :-)
When will losi fking learn to stop having clam shells separate at dif input bearings, always issues with those. Gives me baja rey v1 relase ptsd with front bulkhead. They couldnt do it right for front bulkhead which had less load than rear and now they do it again for rear and high power vehicle, hell nah
Even in ideal world where the clam shells are designed and manufactured perfectly this will fail, you overtighten one screw a bit and leave other too lose, its pita to shim and it always needs shims.
Deal breaker for this car
Hmm. Not something I've ever really had a problem with and it seems fine in this car but I guess we'll have to see how it is long-term.
Meglio hobao racing VS2E
Definitely a good car
Hobao definitely makes good buggies. Do people race them seriously in the US? I'm not really a racer.
@@DoRCwell the real big racers in the US race expensive professional 5th scale buggies , like MCD and other brands etc , but the German engineered HORMANN HT4 BUGGY has already wiped the floor clean of its competitors and won the entire championship in the firth scale buggy class .
@@ianjohnhorwood2605 8th scale buggy Racing isn't really a thing?
Uhh where ? Because I’d be there if I could find 5th scale off-road racing somewhere I can travel we have nitro but not in my state , we can travel hours to other states but it’s why I got into Eletric rcs couldn’t xcross anymore couldn’t fight with civilians over sound of toy cars , so my yards make shift track but even the electric gets loud hitting jumps ect I feel guilty dropping money on 8th scale rcs just to have new ones sometimes , I’d rather be racing newyork we have track day hobbies , cool guys but just specialized for 5th scale guys in the city or Brooklyn and they do drag racing , those guys have McD and losis but just meet at Floyd Bennett park to have fun
Making me question going to grab this sucker 😂, nice mcd buggy would be bad azz or even a new motor pipe
I agree if the cast aluminum it seems to have sheer points at every corner. Good vid bro.👍🏼🫵🏼. How many RC cars do you have? 🤔
Nah. 4S is plenty. I just wanted to push the limits with 6s
😂😂👍🏼. I see I kept watching and then you said I’m putting the castle weakness finder ESC in it. Hey just critiquing sorry but I do like watch a lot of RUclips. Maybe a little softer touch not so robotic I think your numbers really go up.. but this is from a guy that has never put a video video😂😂out
I’m not exactly new to RC. But what does the timing do? Is it like punch or throttle response? I guess don’t know.😞🛻
The timing alters the point in the rotors rotation at which the ESC sends power to the corresponding winding. It's a pretty involved and complex topic That is actually pretty interesting. I'd recommend googling brushless motor timing or how a brushless motor works etc to learn more as it would be way too much to put in a comment
Very roughly, based on user manuals, more timing is more high end speed at the cost of more heat and juice.
Nice buggy, but as a basher I would take take the Typhon TLR for the higher power system and 7075 aluminum parts.
I can definitely understand the 7075 parts as they are really nice on the TLR but I'm becoming less and less convinced that 6s is necessary on these buggies. This 4s system is as much power as I ever think I would need on this buggy.
I run a 4s most of the time in my Kraton 6s
@Hungrybird474 I always run 6S in those but I can definitely see the appeal of running 4s
Typhon cant ben used on a racetrack. Its just not a racer
Well it definitely can be used on a race track it just isn't going to be the fastest car out there.
Tlr will never b king they suck 2 many problems
What kind of problems have you had?
