Been watching you for a while. You do a lot of explanation. That's very good. It helps young techs understand things better, and it reminds the rest of us of things we may overlook. You did a good job on this condensing unit change out because you went through the whole system and made sure everything was doing what it should be doing. I hope your customer understands that they have someone who will do the job right. I think they got their money's worth.
thanks for taking your time to showing us the stuff we can encounter in our line of work, this is way better than a seminar!!!!! i really enjoy your videos because is like been there!!!
Nice replace & install Dave. I like the alternate feature of the condenser fans, that's a smart idea. I have seen a lot of plugged up evap & condenser coils, that certainly wreaks havoc. I try to tell people that you need have maintenance on these systems from time to time, but they never listen. Thanks for the vid.
Dude I love your video's like them funky and junky homemade boxes. When I was still in College I worked for a refrigeration guy for about two years I loved every minute of it. Wish I could get back into it there is so much more I would like to learn. It's like an addiction. I do some HVAC As a Maintenance man, but not as much as I would like to. Keep up the great work.
🤘rock on brother. Those new Copeland condensers seems pretty good. Love the intuitive features they put on them but I’ve replaced a few of those temp sensors and transducers. Good job on being thorough on that oldie those old low profile evaporators are a biznitch to clean. That debris is like concrete in those evaporators
all in all good job on the install. I would like to see more how to videos on installing tstat and solenoid haven't seen anyone do the wiring videos on those. good video.
short or long radius Elbows only apply to the discharge line.. on discharge lines you should be using long radius.. .. on another note.. that liquid line is funky.. wonder why it went a different route? but nice of you to fix it up.. nice install.. nice condensing unit... also .. the coil they have for the glass door section isn't the best choice..
i'd rather drop pressure than raise the pressure.. i've been using short radius elbows on suctions my whole life.. never had an issue.. using short radius on the discharge does create a problem@@NorCal-refrigeration
prime time refrigeration we are supposed to use only long radius but I’m not the refer police. What ever works for you my man is fine with me. Ill be using long radius
Multiple offender plus. Most customers want a price up front. I don’t like to do that for the reasons you have shown. Years of lack of maintenance causes a lot of problems . Causes you to wind up possibly losing money on the job. Time and material is the way to go.
+Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C no this was an ultralow -80c thermo self contained my old company sold from NC and we didnt want to ship it back for repairs if it wasnt something major so we had you check out some stuff for us it was at berkley
I'm sure you have BUT, do you run across very many gummed up and sticking txv internals using 404a gas? I enjoyed pumping down a circuit and busting down a txv. Don't really get those opportunities with my new employer
Good looking install, Dave, line set looked great. When you have to clean the evaporator coil unexpectedly do you just do it and charge extra, eat the time, or ask the customer? I remember on some of your older vids multiple offenders got spanked, lol! Thanks for posting. -Tom
I can't leave it on a new cond, unit install, you clean it. Your there just do it. The trick is on old funky units quote the price of the unit and let them know install and start up is T&M because it's old and you do not know what your going to find. Show them what you find and it usually works out ok. He understood when I showed him that coil.
+Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C That's exactly how I do it too Dave. As long as you can show and explain the situation to the customer they'll almost 100% of the time tell you to go ahead with the repair. Ps. I absolutely dig your vids man, really neat to see the variety of refrigeration you get to work on and how thorough you are on all of your calls. Definitely gets me pumped to go out and kick ass on service! Thanks man!
Hey man.. I was wondering why you are against short radius elbows exactly? Yeah, i hear they are not 410-A friendly due to higher pressures, but just 1 on say a suction line wouldn't hurt.. I wouldn't think anyway.... Can you show me what your fear on short radii is? I enjoyed the video.. I like using a solid bent piece even if i have to put 5 different 90* bends with my Hilmor to save on elbows and other braze areas. More couplers and elbows, allow more potential leak possibilities on down the line. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on why short radii is bad. Adam
+iconbadgta for refrigeration piping its long radius only, for psi drop. Yes you can run shorts and the unit will probably last just as long. But the correct way is long radius.
Good job , multiple offender huh? they all are I just found out, did you end up replacing that liquid line drier? also did the new unit came with a defrost timer?
Yes on the drier no on the defrost timer. I'm going to put one inside the box so it cycle the solenoid valve and pump down during defrost. The old clock just cycled the compressor contacts
Hey I loved the video. question? what made you choose to 407c over 404A in this one? I seen you change txv and retrofit to 404A. why didn't you do that in this one? just curiosity. Thank you. great job. I really like how you do things
With that house over it and A California climate I did not need the extra metal cover. Most here use indoor units and make sheet metal covers. With my winter low over night is only in the 40's a couple nights in 30's.
this is why I always get in shit the boss bids jobs I try to fix them right and get in shit for taking to long cant fucking win in the refrigeration trade.
Those units are relatively new out. What do u ask for when u are asking for that kind / getting one of those. Aren't they from United. Pm me if u want to keep that info on on the DL. Cool feature -Lead lag cond. fans. Really Nice that it has everything including a suction accumulator. Nice bit of compressor protection for that medium temp box. / refrigerator.
+OcRefrigeration,Hvac & Electrical. When you start them up the cycle 3 times. Like short cycling it's part of the logic in the psi control I should have got that on video. It looks like it's got dry heaves. Lol.

They never do. I have zero maintenances they won't pay for it here.
Another great job done.
Yes, I agree about the "hidden" surprises without looking at the entire system.
You do a great job wonderful instruction for old like myself and young Refrigeration mechanics
just passed my Universal EPA! can't wait to get out there! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Great find, found a lot of those low volume evaporators dirty
🤘rock on brother. Those new Copeland condensers seems pretty good. Love the intuitive features they put on them but I’ve replaced a few of those temp sensors and transducers. Good job on being thorough on that oldie those old low profile evaporators are a biznitch to clean. That debris is like concrete in those evaporators
that dirty coil was a game changer! had couple of those recently
all in all good job on the install. I would like to see more how to videos on installing tstat and solenoid haven't seen anyone do the wiring videos on those. good video.
G Loomis Redfish I'll see about doing one soon. Thanks for watching.
Very nice work.. Great video's, I enjoyed them.
Thanks DC.
Good ol low profile evaps can be a blast cleaning. I drop the pan and wash em out with a hose lol
Nice work! Love the extra drier just to be sure!
I think that coil came out of a grocery store 30 years ago. Lol.

You need long radius on suction line also. To avoid pressure drop. Max is usually 2 psi on a system.
i'd rather drop pressure than raise the pressure.. i've been using short radius elbows on suctions my whole life.. never had an issue.. using short radius on the discharge does create a problem@@NorCal-refrigeration

Nice Rasta! You do good work!
Thank you.
awesome video, keep up the great work
Nice clean job!
Nice install ! Nice job securing that liquid line that was swinging in the breeze on that wall. I'm amazed she didn't chafe a hole in the copper.
I cut it at the top and ran a new line.
Very nice. Old line was a bit trashed huh.
+OcRefrigeration,Hvac & Electrical. It was
Great work Dave
Thanks Rob
Great video brother thanks for sharing!
very pro install Dave!
Another good video man
Awesome job dude !
JonesHvac thanks for watching 👍👍
Nice one mate. There is number of AC mechanics on you tube that should watch your videos to learn how to do jobs properly.

Dave, Nice Job..
Thanks sam
I believe youve done work for me before! do you remember working on an ultralow freezer subcontracting for scientific calibration in NC?
I remember a guy righting a recipe for a freeze dryer in the Bay Area. That you?
+Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C no this was an ultralow -80c thermo self contained my old company sold from NC and we didnt want to ship it back for repairs if it wasnt something major so we had you check out some stuff for us it was at berkley
+cannonlove2 not me I haven't done any work in Berkeley.
How is the piping on two separate units with one condenser.
I'm sure you have BUT, do you run across very many gummed up and sticking txv internals using 404a gas? I enjoyed pumping down a circuit and busting down a txv. Don't really get those opportunities with my new employer
bblazeff1 I do.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C Have any vids doing so?
bblazeff1 I’m sure there is.
Nice thorough job bro
Thanks HC

You're a very knowledgeable tech Dave, how long have you been at your trade? Nice Job...keep the videos coming sir.
as always great video
dang nice work man thumb's up!!!!!
Thanks jimbola77
Headmaster valve ?

Naaaasty....good work!
Soooooo nasty.

Very nice unit and job Dave. I like the lead lag feature. Ye olde multiple offender classic deluxe...would you like fries with that? :)
Extra dust and grime. Lol

+Felipe Tafolla thanks Felipe
what was the target rla to full charge
Do you use the long radius els vs the short to cut back on friction?
For pressure drop and oil return. For HVAC/R it's long radius elbows only.
Thanks man.😎
good work!
Dave ! on this job! you didn't change the txv valves! it was r-22 & now it's 407c!
Abraham Lagunes that is correct R407c is a replacement for R-22. Same TXV's.
OMG! yes you're right! Thank you for your videos, some of the l watch them more that twice!
Abraham Lagunes thanks for watching
great video, watcha gonna do to celebrate your upcoming 1000 subscribers?
I guess it's tradition to give something away, I'm thinking a tool that I use daily that works. Hmmmmm

Great job

$ the customer went to option #1. R407c. Option 2 new txv's R404a more $.
I know it has a wooden dog house but how come no outdoor condensing unit like the old one ? Another great job done the right way !
That's so true. I remember my old boss telling me, " I'm out of hours on that job ". And it would day one of a big job.
Looks like a dixel control
Awesome
looks like you wearing 511 pro pants
🤘
that low velocity coil is really not a proper coil for that beer cooler.. would never use that style
Got to work on what the customer has.
@@NorCal-refrigeration i know but i'm say if that job was done from scratch...you did what you had to do .. and did a great job
you need air compressor
Biennnnnnnnnnnn

I just ask for the copeland scroll cond. unit. They start at 1 1/2HP I get them at RSD.
Thanks. Appreciate it.
