Was on a call this morning. Leak at the txv flare nut. D-tech select picked it up. Tighten flare nut n didn't c bubbles or snip any leaks. But I'm gonna go back for a follow up. Thanks Dave.
RUclips police. Breaker 19. Major infraction - driving without seatbelt. Minor observation - the liquid line next to the distributer you fixed has no grommet and looks to be rubbing on the frame of the evaporator. Thanks for the video, and good job.
i bought the H10 pro leak detector earlier this year and so far its the best i ever had...last week i ordered the Testo 316-4 leak detector...its coming in on tuesday...cant wait to try it out...saw good reviews on it ...i needed a hand held one for supermarket work...its alot easier to carry around than the H10 is. Also i got it for $100 less than what tru tech tools was selling it for.

Nice job Dave, still can’t beat the H10. You turned me on to that Streamlight headlamp. I bought 2 of them about 6 months ago, BEST headlamp I’ve ever owned. Simple on off no multi mode bullshit.
@@NorCal-refrigeration If you a sticking with the H10 after testing, then I could test it on the other side of the pond😉 Just to make sure the its the same result on other continents
Them caked Evap coils should of been the dead giveaway to back away 😂😂😂. Yikes but with Dave on the scene you’ll tell em what to do to get it right. Thanks for the video
Good video. It’s very difficult to find leaks with 12 fans blowing in the room constantly pulling fresh air across the tiny leak area. Make life slot easier for yourself , turn off condenser , let suction rise abiT, turn off evap fans , then go leak hunting. It makes it a lot easier to find a leak fast & accurately. Guaranteed u find most leaks accurately in a few minutes using this method. Good video ! Those evaps are time to go !
I purchased a Testo 316-3 and I never seemed to have any luck with it. The silly thing would freak out every time it was bumped, moved, etc. I sent it back to Testo for calibration. Came back kinda the same. Lemme know if you want to buy my one as a backup for super cheap!
Those are the worst solder joints to have to do!!! One someone probably soft soldered it originally then someone did silfos15 over it and then trying to get it to flow upwards is always a pain!!! But great work brother.
Good job super Dave. It ain't pretty but as long as it does not leak it's a win! If you keep doing torch work without safety glasses you are going to have a hard time finding leaks with just one eye.
Good job Dave. I have that same detector. I spoke to the rep. It is slow. They also said is to keep it steady when locating a leak. What can you do about a turd from someone else. It worked! Sometimes the ugly chicks dances better at the High School dance
So overall what detector you like the best and why? Seems i like the bubbles detector best overall. That entire store needs revamping start to finish. But they got a good tech working to keep them trucking til they need to replace it. Thanks for sharing bud.
Hate its 2..only seen it used on chillers and mini splits here in DK.. Yes you have 2 give it a complete new charge.. But if I'm honest i don't always do it.. If you do Then you might as well convert it
Weak ass pump motor. Thats 99% of it . The new one with the led screen my coworker got . Thing sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Probably the same sensor. Inficon service sucks for parts , just terrible. But they work
Not sure yet. I’m still understanding how it works, it seems slow response but I might just need to get used to it. I’ll have a video after more testing
I was going to ask you how you like the new Detek? I have the srl8, at first I was iffy about it but now I think it’s a pretty damn good detector. That new detek seems ehhh
good morning Dave they have a sensor in the back that slightly falls out of place I called tech support at infacon and there awesome good luck to you brother
How do you know which refrigerant is in there ? R-22 , 407c , 422b , 422d etc. ? Or did u just yank it all , what was left , evap & use your 407c , because I believe u said u are a 407c guy. And then labeled it of course.

I usually turn the Evap fans off when sniffing around inside Evaps... good repair brotha 🤘🤘🇺🇸🇺🇸

You are making me very glad I bought the H-10 Pro and not the D-Tek.
H-10 is Industdries standard nothing comes close.
The H10 is the best leak detector

H-10 industries standard let me know how the 316-4 dose. The D3 is slow reaction time. And on off button is a crap shoot.

I honestly can’t work with out it. Have 2 at the day job also
What is make and model number of one's you use? Thanks
Warren Sharp the “Double Clutch” comes either reachable or AAA.
Any braze joint that does not leak...is a good joint...no matter what it looks like!
Very true
H10 all the way. H10 was my first and last leak detector

The testo works ok for me. If the battery is low you find a leaks all over. Replace with new battery and then u see. Good luck.
Company buys all tools👍
I’m an H-10 die hard. Made a song about it. It’s in my playlist. I got this to make videos the SRL8 is better than the dtek3
As long as Mr Hankey ain't bubbling that's all that matters 👍
Who cares what he looks like.
thanks again good job
Great job Dave 👍👍👍
🤘⚡️🤘
Thanks Dave! Look into a Captain Hook Torch Tip. It wraps the flame around the joint!
I have one
the D-tek 3 is so slow to detect leaks but it works good
Go to autozone or advanced , ask for a electronic flasher for turn signals, done. No need for resisters.👍
Nice video

Great info
The distributor is brass...
you will have to use 45%...
Dissimilar joints require it for any longevity
I used 56%
That's a s**t show. It's crazy how they ran the liquid line? Will there be any buildup from brazing?
I can weld by brail no issues looks good too but distribution tubes your welds look like mine but no leaders is what matters good job Dave
I don't know if Vodka makes your vids better , but it sure makes me better ... Lol ...Good vid Super Dave ...
Have one for me

H-10 pro is best after soap bubbles
Cool will keep that in mind.
signal light is burned on the left side , in the front or the rear of your van that’s
why it blinks that fast
I installed l e d s and no resistor
Needs electronic flasher, LED's will hyperflash with OEM flasher. Installing resistors is PITA.
Where the liquid line comes into the Evaporator through the case must be rubbing out too.
Dave change your broken indicator light please
It needs a resistor I installed l e d year ago.
@@NorCal-refrigeration previous owner of my truck just put a black electric tape on the glass over indicator. No need for a resistor :)
who pooped on the tubing and fittings LOL
just another walk in warmer =p
Tell me about what you lit your torch with?
Ahhh I’ve had that striker since 2003. Push button spark ⚡️
you can try an out of fuel "long lighter" as a striker, but the spark may not be strong enough
Nice save, Dave
Yeah that leak detector would have to go. By the time that thing reacts to the leak I would already be at the condensing unit leak checking.
Exactly
Nice Dave 👍
I thought you had to use a different kind of solder when you have to braze two different metals together
I use 56%.
@@NorCal-refrigeration thanks for the video. Was it because of different metals you used 56% alloy? which one do you use regularly? thanks
Hey so since it's 407c , I can't stand 407c , did you have to pull the remaining refrigerant and charge with brand new then ?

Did you clean those coils??
My old saying can look ugly but not a leaker!!!
Seems like mixed readings with them leak detectors
H-10 is best.

good morning Dave they have a sensor in the back that slightly falls out of place I called tech support at infacon and there awesome good luck to you brother
After sensor re install did it perform better?
That was a crappy install all across the board. Such is the life of a refrigeration technician cleaning up another tech's shit show lol
There’s so much garbage out here.
That fieldpiece leak detector is crap
Seems better than the dtek3.
all the reviews i saw on the SLR8 say its overly sensitive and will pick up any air that moves past the sensor....inficon leak detectors are 💩
The SLR8 dose fine when you get used to it. But it’s false detects a bunch. The Dtek3 also false detects and is slow. H-10 is the best.
Alrighty than....
Can’t see it from my house
