I would like to poit out that, while turning the cover around is a great hack and certainly makes life easier, it is worth noting that the cover is reinforced where it covers the ladder mounting brackets. If you turn the cover around, you lose this extra protection and risk damaging the cover where the brackets are. Otherwise, I can certainly see how this makes it a lot easier to replace the cover and save climbing on top of the vehicle like I do.
Thanks for the comment. I'll pin this comment for other users. So far, the cover has been fine running without the reinforcement over the ladder mounts without damage. I'll keep everyone apprised on it going forward forward.
Good to know! If that’s the case, then maybe I’ll do the same! I only picked mine up this morning. Love the design, it’s just a lot more fiddly to put up and take down than my old RTT. If this works fine, then that will defo save time and effort.
So simple and brilliant! I’m doing that for sure. Btw they now have quick release mounts for their tents. A little spendy since it replaces the rails on the bottom of the tent but much easier to install. Thanks for video.
Thanks for the comment, Jared 👍🏻 I'll have to go check that out! Fiddling with those nylok nuts is a PITA. I'm also interested in the quitted insulated liner
As always, a great video Eric. This is the type of video I love because it gives a person a chance to really see how a project is done and prepare for it themselves ahead of time. Keep it up my friend! Dino
Actually when I search thule foothill I saw your video and skip. Today I got a my foothill. And go back to original package I took a 3 hours. I have a roofbox so it is impossible for zipping back. I am so not fun about that. And I went thule website and so your comment. I saw your video again and now I notice you are best man today for me. It is awesome. I can’t wait try this one. I have to do that. Thanks. Thanks a lot your video. So you are took off your roof tent when you not camping? Like a winter time.
I too have a 2-door Badlands 7MT and just ordered the Tepui Foothill thanks to your videos. I like your overall set up. What kind of cargo basket and awning do you have mounted with the Tepui?
Thanks for the comment! The basket is a Yakima Skinny Warrior and pairs well with the Foothill. And the awning is the 6.5ft Yakima. I got both with my Ford Pass points 🤘🏻😁🤘🏻
Thanks for the question... My Algonquin trip rained for pretty much 2 days and 2 nights... Warm and dry inside. I love how the fly gives lots of eaves to the shelter. And on the backside, you can button it down for even better storm protection.
@@makariussulit nope... We were well sheltered. No water intrusion. On a previous trip, in cold weather, I did notice a small amount of condensation on the inside, which is pretty normal. I should of had a window cracked open.
@@TLOverlander do you have to have a higher roof rack to be able to mount it? And if yes do you have a budget friendly you can recommend for a roof rack rails? Thule yokohama etc. thanks so much!
@@makariussulit the Valkyrie is probably the most budget of the aftermarket Bronco racks. But the company has had a lot of issues... And I've seen them all! The factory rack may work for a small RTT, but the crossbars would definitely need upgrading. I think the HD Yakima ones Ford offers in their accessories catalog are priced fair...? But then again, the factory rails are mounted with all plastic pieces and I've seen issues with them on other trucks
I do still have it, yes.... It's a bit of work to set up but I'm quick at it now. Definitely would be very cozy for 2 people. I wouldn't recommend it for 2 adults. Light and compact though... Like nothing else!
Thank you for taking the time to reply and for your fantastic video. I have just purchased this tent, and it does seem a bit difficult to set up and put away, so I'm glad to hear it gets easier.
@@ptrckmuir with my setup, I have a roof basket on the one side, so the Foothill allows you to "button down" the fly on the inside, which I leave done up. Then it's just a matter of putting the tension poles on the one side, which makes things much easier. Thanks for reaching out!
@@TLOverlander Fair assumption, but Thule did add some patches there. One suggestion from me to Thule would be to make room for the ladder on top of the tent. And thx for the video. Rude of me not to mention that.

@@TLOverlander Thanks
Question: where do you store the ladder when traveling with your Thule foothill tent ?
It stands up behind the passenger seat in the foot well 👍
What kind of screws you use on the wheels?
Great video, tks

I understand why, but when you flip the cover the reinforcement no longer sits over the ladder attachments.
This is true....
But does the cover need reinforcement there?
Time will tell. I'm not too concerned
