So glad that you took the mattress out and put in your own bedding, this is the review I was waiting to see on this tent. So many of the other reviews were good and very detailed but didn't do that. One simple thing. Thing. And for me no mattress that comes in a rooftop tent or is only 2 in thick is ever going to work. I use the REI version of the exped and it's amazing
Great review. I love the price of it. We are literally just getting into Overlanding. Just bought our winch and bumper. With everything being so expensive, this is great.
@@RaptorPackAdventures same here, me and wife are looking for decent equip to put on our new Nissan Frontier pro4x. Seeing we only overland 3x a year...durability shouldn't be a huge issue.
Just ordered a set of Method Bead Grip 703 machined wheels. They are having a 15% off sale but I used your code and got 20% off on the next shipment in June. Thanks so much. Trent at Method is great.
My Darche Ridgeback RTT looks exactly the same (even the colour & ladder are the same). Will not be surprised if they were made from the same factory. Though I wish the Darche cost the same as that (mine cost AUD$3,900 - on special!). I got this RTT due to the feature of the rear wall extending out. It's amazing how much more room this feature gives inside. I've had mine for 2 years now, and I recommend keeping an eye on the waterproofing tape along the seams. Mine have started to peel off the canvas. I did find the mattress firm, so I got myself a mattress topper which improved its comfort. Adding the mattress topper, sheets, and a thick Coleman Big Game -6c sleeping bag, there is no room for pillows (It will fit if I really forced it, but I don't want the mattress getting squished too much). That is extremely generous of you. 👍👌
I just bought this tent (with your code) because of your video. Doing a ton of research on all rtt as I’m on my 3rd. Thank you for putting extra bedding inside to see if it still closes. But When you put it on on roof can you still get it closed with larger mattress and bedding? Leverage will be a little different. Also how many total inches with bedding and bed can it fit?
Nicely done with giving Clay that RTT, Rob! It couldn't have gone to a better person as you full well know. That is my Wife's silver 200 series. Clay was getting ready for the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway Ride. Looks like an awesome option for the price point! The way you reviewed it on top of the crate it came in was genius! I got to see it in a different, and better angle. Well done Rob! Best real-world reviews on RUclips! Also if you need any type of adventure vehicle or 4x4 related work, look no further than Commonwealth 4x4! Amazing work and worth the journey from wherever you are. Ask me how I know!
I know you need to lock your tent in the Pacific Northwest so squatters don’t get in there while your driving thru the cities. Lol. Crazy bang for the buck on that tent! I’ll check out that mattress right now.
Hey!, looks great and the price is awesome. Is this model the galaxy 1.0 on their site? Not sure if there are other galaxy models. But that ship job is amazing. Not sure I’ve had a rtt shipped in a wood crate. Haha
What is the bed rack? I just got my tent and I'm still waffling on what bed rack to get for my 6' bed on my 2016 colorado. Fits like a glove on that truck in the video!
The. Truck you put it on what. Truck deck rack is that. I am looking for it but not seeing the actual rack name. If you could give me the brand and. Set up name would be greatly appreciated to reduce my search time. I. Just purchased the same tent but the galaxy 2
Thank you for the informative video. I am ordering one of these tents and I wanted to confirm the Hest mattress size you tested. Is it their Dually Long 50”x78” mattress that fit fine?
I've had this tent with the stock mattress out on one outing so far, and I would honestly say that the3 mattress is my only complaint. Other than the $500 Hest, are there any less expensive mattress upgrades that come in the same size that you would recommend? I simply don't go out often enough to justify the Hest (yet), but definitely need something better than the 1.5"-2" thing this tent shipped with. Any pointers would be much appreciated! Maybe the Exped MegaMat?
I think the Exped would be a good choice. You might be able to join some AluCab groups and get one that someone has taken out. It’s a pretty good mattress!
Hey I’m looking at buying one in Alaska. During the summers it doesn’t get very dark. I was curious on if it gets dark when everything is closed up? Is it close to blackout?
We ordered ours in June for a end of month Aug trip, placed the order paid for it and have reached out to the company several times with no response maybe only 2 people work for the company and can’t respond but time is ticking and we have travel arrangements that may or may not be canceled IDK
Their website says they’re in stock. I’d hope that means yours has been shipped. Try sending a message from a different email address; they claim to respond within 24 hours, so maybe you’re getting caught in a spam filter?
Looking at the hard shell (top) side opening RTT’s that would fit in the short bed of a midsize truck and open to the side. Any suggestions based on your experiences?
I think it would be fine with heat. For more serious 4 season camping I'd start looking at the more expensive ones. The iKamper BDV Duo has canvas, which is breathable, and would be much more appropriate for cold weather.
I only know of me and Matt (Ozark Overland), and that's because they asked us both to wait until mid May to publish. They were hoping to have them back in stock for the video release, but they're so popular that they keep on selling their pre-orders!
When putting a tent on a truck with a roof rack. It’s better to turn the tent the other way around. That gives you a a nice platform to enter and no obstruction from an awning or climbing over a fully loaded tailgate
You are a good friend. That was nice of y ou to give him that tent. You will be blessed.
I’ve had this tent for over a year. I love it. No issue! Great video Rib! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
That’s awesome! The one thing I couldn’t test was long term durability, so it’s good to hear it’s solid.

It's one of the most important things for me too!
So cool of you to give this to your friend…good on you! 😊
Great review. I love the price of it. We are literally just getting into Overlanding. Just bought our winch and bumper. With everything being so expensive, this is great.

I was really amazed when I saw this in person!
It definitely exceeded my expectations
I love mine just got it out for the first time last weekend
Awesome!
This is a great tent. My daughter has one on her 4runner and she loves it. It has more room than my RoofNest.
Yeah it is. It appears very similar to the much more expensive Roof Nest
Just ordered a set of Method Bead Grip 703 machined wheels. They are having a 15% off sale but I used your code and got 20% off on the next shipment in June. Thanks so much. Trent at Method is great.
Awesome! Great choice.
Bought one of these months ago. Its awesome.
I think it's a great option!
looking at purchasing one of these, but want an enclosure at ground level that hooks into the front entrance.

They definitely look similar. It’s the same style as the Ironman and Roofnest too, although there are some subtle differences.
Awesome, great idea and so cool you gave him the tent...I'm ready for a Tent Shootout, lol.

That dude should have at least shook your hand or given you a hug. My mind would be blown if I got a gift like that.

He definitely deserves it!

Lol! The Hest mattress is amazing.

Does it come with LED's inside and the ability to mount things on top of it? If so, sounds perfect
Yes
They put almost everything you need for a rtt in it

That’s correct
I got this tent and it amazing fir the price. Can u tell me the brand or the name of the matress
The Hest mattress is the really good one. I put my old AluCab mattress in for Clay.
I've had this tent with the stock mattress out on one outing so far, and I would honestly say that the3 mattress is my only complaint. Hey I’m looking at buying one in Alaska. During the summers it doesn’t get very dark. I was curious on if it gets dark when everything is closed up? Is it close to blackout?
It's pretty dark in there, although because I gave it away I haven't spent any nights in it.
We ordered ours in June for a end of month Aug trip, placed the order paid for it and have reached out to the company several times with no response maybe only 2 people work for the company and can’t respond but time is ticking and we have travel arrangements that may or may not be canceled IDK

I’m a huge fan of the iKamper series tents. The mini is a great fit for short truck beds.
what size is the bed on his truck?
6.5’
How tall are you? I am 6’3”. I’m wondering how comfortable one would be for me.
6’1”. Wedge style tents are going to be difficult for you, since most are too short for me, but the pop out end helps.
Would be perfect if it has build in bug screens.
Is it a plastic or aluminum hard shell?
Aluminum
Welp, I'm sold.
Yeah maybe I should have kept it lol
How do you think this tent would do in winter or snow ❄️ (with heat 🔥)?
I think it would be fine with heat. For more serious 4 season camping I'd start looking at the more expensive ones. The iKamper BDV Duo has canvas, which is breathable, and would be much more appropriate for cold weather.
Clays the best
He's a great guy!
I wish they had affirm pay
Save the money for 6 months instead of making 6 months of payments! The best campsites will still be there!
Hmmmm how come so many videos about this tent show up all at once? 😅
All the pre-orders delivered at the same time
I only know of me and Matt (Ozark Overland), and that's because they asked us both to wait until mid May to publish. They were hoping to have them back in stock for the video release, but they're so popular that they keep on selling their pre-orders!

You can put the ladder on either side of this, but I would rather just climb up on the tailgate and leave the ladder at home.
I wanna be your friend 🙏🏻 too
178lbs is likely quite miserable on top of a smaller 4x4
That's basically the same weight as the iKamper Skycamp that I had on the Jeep Wrangler and the BDV Duo that my buddy runs on his Bronco.
81kg no go...
$1300 plus tax plus $300 shipping. Not so cheap really
The bring it down to $1099 for Black Friday now.
So fake🤡
Yeah the whole thing was CGI
