- In this video we take a look at the evolution of strategies for the Blooper Surfing Safari from Super Mario Sunshine. The level is Ricco Harbor Episode 2.

In this video:
1. Original Method: This is the way the developers intended the level to be beaten. You ride the blooper normally throughout the track and finish to get the shine sprite. 0:10
2. Shortcut Method: This method allows you to cut off the second half of the level by hitting a checkpoint located after the turn where the wall is. Using this method allows you to save almost half of the time that it would take you normally. 1:10
3. Blooper-less Method: Also know as the hover nozzle method, this allows you to skip using the blooper entirely. If you start on the wall and do a super slide you are able to skip almost the entire level by hitting the two key checkpoints. This makes the game think you've completed the whole track and let's you finish the whole level in under 20 seconds! 1:55

Just realized .. it’s seemingly weird when you remember the plot, that the shine sprites were vanished and Mario has to clean the whole island to get them back.... and then you find this dude who wants you to take on this obstacle blooper race and gives you one ... Hahahaha something’s off 🤨

The entirety of sunshine is like this in a way and while it wouldn’t be a big problem in the other games, Sunshine makes an attempt to tell a serious story, causing the game to kinda fall apart on a logic sense and makes the inhabitants look like assholes in the process

It does work on switch but you have to do that jump he does at 1:29. You can’t just immediately take the shortcut

But it’s true that they’re varying in their speed.
I think this is why you have the way through the port before you got to him- so you can test them.
I think one of the palmas also mentions that they vary in their speed.
@@KaiIchiRu96 they all have the same top speed though, just their speed when not holding forward is different. so there's pretty much no reason not to use the green one.

Everyone it does in fact still work, there’s an invisible checkpoint system in place. Basically do exactly what they do in the video, hug the left wall by the spikes, jump over the first wall and turn sharply to make the second jump close to the right wall.

I did exactly what you did several times. And that short cut does not work. I get to the finish line and it makes me keep going again causing it to be even longer time than if I just would have went the whole course.. that 1st way works perfect though

Just tried on the switch, it didnt work
Xeinafa it’s possible to patch a game without internet connection, and has been done before. Obviously the older copies won’t get whatever was patched, but a friend of yours could have an altered game depending on which print they bought. In this case I’m not sure if Sunshine got patched in its newer prints
No it works just did it right now, you need to do exactly like how this person does it at least that’s how it worked for me.

Shortcut method works you just HAVE to cross over then double back I did it going straight for the jump and it didnt work

How annoying is it that Nintendo apparently feels the need to patch an unintended shortcut in 3D All Stars, but they can't bother to include an option to toggle the original controls (i.e. camera controls are different in 64, camera and spray angle controls are no longer inverted in Sunshine.)? This is not that hard for a company like Nintendo to implement. Even Activision gave players the Crash remakes to invert the Jetpack controls if they wanted to for all of three levels!
@@bryan8602 100% agree with you. The one thing I can't stop thinking would or should have been a nice quality of life change would be to allow gyro when trying to spray fludd. it would be just like splatoon. or at least some better way to control
@@AbstractOddity I'm not even asking for that although that would be great too lol. I'm referring to how the original camera controls from 64 and GameCube worked. They were inverted on them, but they switched it to "normal." Why can't we choose how the x-axis and y-axis camera functions in 2020 on a 1st party Nintendo game? Not only that, I guarantee you the majority of the people who bought this collection on the first day are probably in their 30s to 40s. They are used to controls a certain way. Why would you change it then and not offer options?
Came here to express my anger about this too. They couldn't be bothered to enhance the games or make any kind of challenges or unlockables. But they could get rid of this glitch.
