shollyboster they are not gay okay have you seen Tyler poseys fiance and have u seen Dylan O'Brien's girlfriend and bro its just a damn movie geez and he's not gay geezzz so stop saying he's gay before I........
Naseem R to the MTV executives when talking about a lead male yeah it’s a curse word. Apparently the early jokes by stiles were meant to suggest he was gay/bi but someone at MTV decided that Stiles was too important to be anything but straight thus why all the gays and bi boys were second and third tier parts.
Um half scenes where nothing to do with anything to do with him being bi or anything. There was a time all virgins where on the hook of being killed where he was desperate and they count that as him being gay at that moment. that is not gay it is survival nothing to do with it they counted 3 scenes from that time. Also the whole gay bar thing was for them to get information so they ahd to play a role that isn't gay it is acting. I could point out more. I can also point out through all the way through the first and second season Stiles loved lydia as well as his big backstory of always loving her. Then his crush and relationship he got with malia. not once in the entire series he ever went for guy or even tried (Other then the survival thing but that really doesn't count was more a joke) Like when he fell on darek it was just an accident also those Darek scenes aren't even factual. He used darek because he knew danny was gay not himself. ALso him saving derek the water is for more then one reason he stayed for 2 hours one the lizard thing would have killed them both if he tried to get out, Stiles isn't a asshole or anything he doesn't want to be a horrible person and let Darek drown they need each other he pointed out that is just being smart. Also stiles ended up with lydia Like seriously people try to make everyone gay or bi now even when its not intended or even they are. Can't have a secen just to be funny which is what most of them are.
@@dracophoenixttv if one must write such an unwieldy and twisting mishmash of words to refute stile's unstraightness, i am only further convinced of it lmfao
@@marchabuyuan-llanes684 wasn't even a mismash of words pure fact you just don't want to except. Its ignorance on your point. When the video itself didnt use fact just hand picked secens which they put miss information about. My info was correcting those and explaining the counter argument.
it wasn't an "executive decision" Keahu Kahuanui, the actor who plays Derek, left the show because of HIS choice but he asked Jeff not to kill him off or anything incase he wanted to come back later which he never did. do not falsely accuse Jeff Davis of anything, especially when your so misinformed.
@@leannal-t791 I didn't mean anything against Jeff Davis. I love him! The point I was trying to make was that I loved Danny on the show. I wasn't actually talking about a real "executive" decision but simply a decision that probably required a lot of paperwork. Figurative speech. I understand if that wasn't relayed across text very well. What an interesting fact about ol' Danny boi's actor! I didn't know that, mate! 😊
Leanna L-T same without Daniel. But let’s be honest here, both gents may have been encouraged by how poorly their characters were treated by the writers
Same thing happens in Supernatural with pretty much the entire cast but especially the leads (Sam, Dean, Cas, and the big bad/cool half decent probably not going to be a villain next season[*cough* Crowley, Meg, etc *cough])
I actually feel Stiles and derek have zero chemistry. The only reason people ship them, is because they are two very cliché character tropes., aka the sarcastic asshole sidekick, and the dark broody anti hero. It's what instantly made me lose all interest in them.
I also don’t see any chemistry between them, but that’s partly because I don’t think Tyler Hoechlin can act very well Edit: at least in TW, because I've seen a trailer of his recently where he's really fleshed out and seems to be doing a great job, tbh. It was probably the same issue as Scott, where they weren't written well but were still good actors.
the time when i properly started noticing sterek is when they fell on top of each other after being paralysed in season 2... i'm sorry, but there is no heterosexual explanation for that...
@@lucielisnerova7246 but Derek is always cold and Stiles is always panicking it has nothing to do with the ship... It's literally just them being themselves.
@@coleb5466 No?? Mason and Corey was part of the main set in season 5 & 6 Ethan was one of the main antagonist/anti hero of season 3 and reappeared in season 6 Jackson was the main characs in season 1 & 2 and reappeared in season 6
sterek is "bizarre, weird, and twisted" yet the show literally shoved down a pairing of Derek and Kate (the woman who molested him and killed his entire family)
Some non sterek-supporting fans say the age difference of stiles being around 17 and derek being in his mid-twenties would be too big for a couple but between derek and kate are at least ten years as well... :P derek and kate is what's "bizarre, weird, and twisted" not even going to consider peter/lydia here.
But the show never depicted Derek and Kate as a positive thing. In fact, I don't think they ever depicted their relationship at all, just referenced it. Kate was always Derek's terrible, abusive ex.
Lauren Hicks Season Four had Kate come back to life turn Derek into a teenager and make out with him in one scene. The writers also admitted to writing sex scenes that are disturbing and shocking purposely. It's the reason Dylan O'Brien put his foot down for a sex scene between Stiles and Malia while both were fucked up in the head and resting in a Mental Asylum
Its all about the writer and their writing skills. I have seen fanfic writers write most beautiful Sterek stories with amazing main storylines without anything being "bizarre, weird, and twisted". Jeff Davis milked us Sterek fandom only to shut us down. He put a lot of minute telltales which was enough for him to start something about Sterek, instead he just baited us with those small telltales, and he chose not to, because he simply couldn't be creative enough. I might watch Teen wolf again if the show was written by any of the talented writers on 'Archives of our own' than accept the excuse he gave and watch his show.
Can we talk about how Jennifer acts a lot like Stiles before you find out she's the darach and that's how she attracts Derek. Like, she is basically a female Stiles
You know what's funny? If this was between girl and a guy everybody would ship it, but because it's guy and a guy 50% of people don't ship it. And the only reason why this ship didn't happen is Tyler Posey.
Basically he called us Sterek fans crazy and said that we were watching the show for the wrong reasons. AKA If you're watching this show for anything but MY character, then you're wrong
Ingrid- Didn't he also actively speak against it being on the show too, when it came up in production? I heard somewhere he'd told Jeff he didn't want it on the show. And like seriously to call the biggest most wholesome ass ship on your show (One of the biggest on the internet at the time), which both of your best friends who are in the ship support, and which a good 2/3 of the fandom love, "sick and twisted", like how homophobic and tiny do you have to be? I know he was like 20-something, but damn bitch, you knew damn well that was by no means fucking acceptable and yet you really did it anyway? He was damn gross.
I KNOW! His jealous ass was just burning with envy bc he wasn't involved xD because than he goes in guest shows and talks about his "bromance" with Dylan, like, hypocrite much? If I'm honest the whole time I watched crack vids or commercial of TW I thought that Stiles was the main character, like cmon, Dylan just got one of those faces, and imagine my disappointment when I found out that it wasn't him but a lame Marty Stu 😭
The bisexual club question scene was also cast in pink and blue light, the whole scene was in bisexual colors. There's a lot more gay hints in the production. Hidden themes, but it was alllllll queerbait. The show used gay fans for publicity and then betrayed them. There's also the queerbaiting that happened outside of the show- look up Stiles and Derek on a boat. What the show runners did to the show was horrible. Teen Wolf is toxic.
That's not okay. If they wanted to make this show that progressive and set in a world without homophobia it would have made more sense two make these two end up together...
Does anyone else have the habit of never watching a show or never being part of a fandom (in this case for me, Teen Wolf), but still end up reading a shit ton of the fanfic anyway? I mean I've burned through like 8 pages of Sterek fanfic on AO3 in the past three days, and I still don't know the names of like half the characters.
dont forget that it was canon during s3b finale that stiles was derek's anchor. Derek immediately thought of Stiles to bring himself back to consciousness.
Are you kidding me, Derek/Braeden was one of the most interesting ships on the show. They were fun and interesting, and I'm saying that as a Scott/Derek shipper
To be fair, it’s Tyler (Scott’s actor) who said that Sterek was a twisted thing and, if I’m not wrong, the other Tyler (Derek’s actor) defended Sterek’s shippers by saying that SOME actors *cough* Scott’s *cough* said unnecessary and rude things to fans and that we shouldn’t listen to them
I don’t get how so many people don’t see it. It’s not delusional shipping when their every single interaction gets intimate for no reason. Why did they make Derek go to Stiles's house in S1 Ep9, make him pin Stiles against the wall with just silence for 10 seconds and then make him undress in-front of Stiles and his gay friend. In season 2 they're paralyzed and fall on top of each other with other characters making weird comments about it. If Stiles was a girl then this would absolutely be seen as romantic. At the end we were robbed and qveerbaited, so disgusting...
@@umacharan9281 literally i just started watching teen wolf and i’ve been waiting for sterek for the longest time . yet i haven’t found anything which is so annoying seeing how much chemistry they have.
idk if anyone noticed but the scene where stules has the pink fluorescent lipstick on him literally makes him a bisexual flag, the full left side of his face is blue, it fades into purple and blue, then he has the pink on his lips. its so obvious
@@literaIIyshy Kind of an old comment but I think what they meant is the fact that Mark Gatiss is gay and one of the creators of BBC Sherlock which also has a lot of queerbaiting with John and Sherlock. And you would think someone from the lgbtq+ community would try to avoid queerbaiting and just have representation but idk
I love your show, but I'm sad it exists. Queerbaiting and uncertain representation is way too common in modern media. Also, please do Nick Carroway and Jay Gatsby. Thank you.
Honestly speaking I felt more chemistry between Sterek than I felt with over rated, fan servicing stydia. Before S6 it was pretty clear that Stiles and Lydia suit each other as great friends, a great crime solving detective team together but there was absolutely nothing in their scenes together that hinted at sexual tension or romantic chemistry at all. Even Stalia had way more cuteness in one season (s4) than stydia throughout the show. However when stydia did occur in 6a it was purely fan service and also because the show runners needed to get their ratings back up which had dropped drastically during s5 and also because Dylan O Brien was now in fewer episodes than ever and towards that point a lot of people were basically watching the show only cuz of him. Only in an effort to get their ratings back up did they force that stydia kiss upon us. Don't get me wrong, I love Lydia she's such a badass character, I just never saw any chemistry between her and stiles. And 6b is proof of that. When they reunite in the finale there is so much wrong with it 1) Their reunion felt so bland they barely acknowledge each other hardly even say hi which is not typical of a couple whose supposed to be madly in love ending up together after 6 years of implied "love" for each other. And 2) Lydia was happier to see Jackson,(as shown when she runs to embrace him) the guy who mentally and emotionally ABUSED her than she was to see Stiles the guy who genuinely cared about her be it romantic or not. 3) She hardly acknowledges Stiles during the entire season and in earlier seasons she had Stiles around, she knew he had a crush on her since third grade, she should have taken her chance with him when she could. I get that she already had a boyfriend at that time but even after Jackson left she CHOSE to be with Aiden than Stiles even though he was still around and single. 4) Also, as someone below pointed out, In 6A, Lydia's romantic feelings for Stiles just sprout out of nowhere. I mean just because he suddenly says "remember I love you" before disappearing from memory. Like she kinda already knew he liked her, so why did this trigger her feelings for him despite her never harbouring anything more than platonic feelings for him previously? Just makes no sense. Other than all this, I don't even see any chemistry between them , for me Sterek just felt more right, more in place and more genuine and with actual chemistry between not just the characters but the ACTORS too. (Dylan and T. Hoechilin). And it could have truly grown into something phenomenal had the idiotic show runners bothered to explore its potential further. Bet if it was just another girl/boy pairing they would have made it canon.
@@lusage1376 thats the result of telling and not showing, we know that stiles liked lydia bc he said he had a crush on her but there was never any chemistry to show us even from stiles' side, and that continued throughout the entire series not to mention lydias feelings came out of no where??
@obsessivefangirl Your analysis is spot on. Sadly, a lot of other shows do the same thing (Supernatural is the biggest offender, and having one of the main stars, Jensen Ackles, being such a homophobe just makes it worse.)
Your comment is so right! I honestly felt like Stydia were ultimate friendship goals and Sterek has chemistry nobody else on the show (other than Thiam oops) had. Like all the scenes where Stiles so obviously checked Derek out, and how when Derek got deaged Stiles was the first to run to him etc. Just every single episode with them has some sort of chemistry. Even the last episode especially when Derek carried Stiles out in his arms. They were meant to be. So even though the show fucked up and left a sour taste in my mouth I will happily read fanficition and have it still be real... if only the show runners had of known the type of support they would have got if they made it Canon. They would have made ratings that shit all over Stydia...
I identify as bisexual and I always knew stiles was probably bisexual and it's because I noticed these things. And I'm also so happy that other people have noticed that stuff and that they notice the sexual tension
Season 2: Matt: I don't know Derek, I think you both make a beautiful couple... Me: YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!! My family: YESSSSSSSSS!!!! The whole world: YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
@@BrolyTheSaiyanofLegend I'm not saying they aren't allowed. I'm saying it doesn't make sense to have them if the aim was to make a show set in a "world without homophobia", since even lighthearted gay jokes told by gay people are based on prejudices.
@@wipeEU pretty sure jokes about gay and bi people when told from a straight person’s pov ARE homophobia since they are based on prejudice and oppression
I know Im really late but Sterek would have been perfect at the end for their storyline. Derek opens up to loving again but it happens for a man and Stiles is no longer insecure and alone. A lovely ending.
this would have made so much sense especially considering the fact that Stiles and Derek literally arrive together to Beacon Hills, and Derek looking at Stiles not so subtly when Malia kissed Scott? Hello CHEMISTRY! Side note, Hoechlin said in the last frame where they all walk together, He(as Derek) pats Stiles chest and winks at him but it was cut ?! Fuck Jeff Davis
Not only GAY! but in season 3, episode 10. Derek believes Stiles over Jennifer about her taking his father, almost instantly instead of believing her! That's trust boo boo! And in Derek's dream he dreams of Stiles! He's obviously there, no one else!
there could be a romantic connection here: 1. they're always noticing each other: **eye contact** 2. touching: **derek slams stiles' head on the steering wheel**
While everyone is watching this show, I'm reading Sterek fictions from 'Archives of our own'. They have some writers with more creativity than Jeff Davis.
I do a similar thing with Supernatural. The show is meh at times, (you probably already know about the queerbaiting, and the representation of women is also not great (at first the women who have the most impact on the plot are the ones who died to give the male characters motivations)), but there is SO MUCH fanfiction.
As a fellow Bi, I know one when I see one. And Stiles from the first episode stood out! I really hated all the baiting they did, and the later season weren't as good, but I would have liked to see them develop the relationship more.
Does most people even watch a show for the right reason? Isn't it only for their own reasons why they watch a show. Hell, sometimes I only watch a show because of one person and if they decide to kill off that person, I decide to stop watch the show as well. Sooooo.
Let’s not forget when Derek is going through a really rough time and can’t distinguish reality from dreams and it’s styles how comes to his rescue for support, only to realise it was a dream sequence and Styles is literally Derek’s dream boy, hero
I remember I started watching Teen Wolf just when season 3 was about to premiere. I remember analyzing every frame where Derek and Stiles shared a scene hoping for any hint that the writers were going to take the couple in a romantic direction. For a while I was genuinely convinced that all the little scenes between them were build up for a relationship. I actually thought they might go through with it. By the time season 4 came around I had had my first taste of what queerbaiting was and I was done. I have never let myself hope again.
SuperHappyNotMerry i am leaving that show for the same reason. Only peaking a bit from Instagram to know how the plot development. But, till the end, its heartbreaking.
Stydia was never the endgame for me. Even after the Stydia kiss was aired it felt immensely forceful and even the acting didn't portray it well , if it was such a huge thing for Stiles it didn't feel at all as if he's has waited 6 seasons for it. Even the Derek leaving bh scene was more romantic than that lmao.
Yea I know, like I totally ship Stydia and loved that they got together , but it was either them or Sterek both were fine for me. But it did seem rather forced, like were did her sudden love come from , and then last season we didn't even had anything from Stydia. They could've done so much out of Sterek.
Dylan and Holland dont have much chemistry together, I think it because Holland is 100% sterek shipper, she would watch Dylan and Tyler kiss rather than kissing Dylan herself lol.
@@新黎-b4u exactly! When Holland was asked once about her favourite kissing scene she said the one with Aiden, then the one with Jackson, she only liked the one with Stiles cuz she thought the shippers would like it. That's it. Plus her and Dylan weren't even that close in real life
I'm sad you didn't include the moment at the end of season 4 when Derek nearly dies from a bezerker and he's lying on the ground and tells everyone to just go and save Scott,, Stiles was the only one to look back about 7 times before finally running with them
So here's an easter egg : Notice how fast Stiles recognises Derek and knows so much about his family? Well other people don't a Derek isolated himself for years, even if Stiles knew about the fire from sneaking around his dad's files but there is no way in hell he would know it's Derek's family. It's been years! The case was closed and there definitely were more such fires, so how does Stiles remember? Moving on, Scott had no idea about what was happening but Stiles' first guess was 'werewolf'. Now the question is, why? There could be anything else out there. Scott didn't even think it was an wolf bite, he thought it was a dog! So how did Stiles know so much? And why did he bring him closer to Derek's burnt home? Well my guess is, the guy who helped Derek make it through the fire is actually Stiles. He saw things he shouldn't have and it didhbn't make sense. But Stiles' curiosity obviously led him to research to an extent enough to believe in werewolves. Scott's situation only made him surer. + uhm Danny and Ethan aren't the ones with more screentime, it's mason and corey.
Omg, this could be a powerful hidden plot thoughout the 6 seasons You remind me there's a scene of Stiles's words to Allison's dad, that he sarcastically brought up the fire scene of Hale's, and got really angry about it as if he was there
Nevermind the shameless use of the sterek fandom to drive their views up, I honestly felt like stiles and Derek could've been endgame. Back in the first couple of seasons (i.e., the good ones) the build was slow, but meaningful. They aggravated each other, barely tolerated each other, nevermind trust. But that antagonism began to thaw in the wake of other threats, and in season 3 it felt like, for what little we saw of them, they'd come to a comfortable place where a real friendship (or more) could be founded on. And then Jeff fucking Davis decided to just sink the ship. Along with plot consistency, good characters, actual stakes, etc. Oh well.
I feel even Dylan and Tyler were personally totally up for playing gay characters and shipping sterek. You should see Tyler hoechlins smile when he says stiles
Well, for a start, Johnlock was not made canon, and after all the queerbaiting (because yes, sometimes I can admit people are overseeing things but there is no doubt there was a huge amount of queerbait in Sherlock, to the point that even my family truly believed they were going to end up together) it was disappointing as hell. It was a very sensible point for the LGBT+ community who saw, again, a ship they truly believed in, throw out of the window, and people making fun of them after that. But most importantly because the last episode was so... stale. They announced it like "something that will make tv history". And in the end, well, I won't spoil you the episode if you haven't seen it, but there was nothing remotely groundbreaking. The plot was too much and not enough at the same time: the story goes everywhere, but Sherlock's deductions, the essence of the show, are unsatisfying, borderline ordinaries. The "villain" was forgettable, and the conclusion... boring. We were waiting for an incredible ending, and the grand finale, since it's unlikely Sherlock will go for another season, was so anticlimactic. Truly the big area of Sherlock, season 1 and 2, was over, but with all the propaganda of "how it would mark TV history", we were waiting for something that would leave a mark. A gay couple finally being aired on a mainstream channel, or at least, a truly masterpiece for the last episode of the show (like season 1 and 2 finales were). None of these things were archived. So yes, a lot of anger from the fans.
Agathe R You really hit the nail on the head here. (SPOILERS) The whole plot twist with Sherlock having a sister was incredibly contrived and it didn't make sense given the context of the other seasons. And the torture room sequences were like something out of a SAW movie. All the cleverness and maturity was literally drained out of the show during the finale. I was (and still am) incredibly annoyed, I've never seen queerbaiting on that big a level. Mainstream media sees any same sex pairing as a joke, while still using LGBT people and the ambiguous sexualities of characters that mean so much to people to draw in viewership. It's so homophobic and manipulative.
Agathe R intresting.. tbh I gave up on that show just as I did with teen wolf years ago.. the queerbaiting of both just became far too much and I couldn't deal with it that's why I was asking what happened... I stopped so I wasn't aware they're still using such ridiculous tropes
Just wanna say, I watched the first episode and immediately made a list on how to improve it. One of the first things I wrote was "but they're in college" As far as I know, college has the same energy but 1) adults of legal consenting age and 2) adults running on caffeine and existential fear. Literally no one would bat an eye at the guy who runs around on the roof, they'd probably be wishing they had enough time and energy to do it themselves.
Honestly I gotta agree. This show would’ve immediately improved if they were in college. They’d still be around their parents if the plot called for it, but have the freedom to do all this crazy stuff.
Great job on this and it's nice to hear someone finally admit Stiles is Bisexual. i kept telling my friends that Stiles has way too many things in common and acts too much like rl bi males not to be. the flirting, the devotion to the dream girl that alludes them, the awkwardness around both girls and guys. Stiles screamed Bi from the start. and Derek was up in the air for a while till the flashback to younger derek and his first love who had the same coloring as stiles and his personality.
I'm glad you talk about Tyler Posey's statement on Sterek. I'm not even a shipper, actually, not even a huge fan of the show, but I was appealed at how rude he was. What about the Stydia shippers (that were already numerous before it became canon)? Are they twisted and watching the show for the wrong reasons? No, if they like to watch the show because they like to see how their relationship develop, it's their rights, just like the sterek shippers. Now I don't think Sterek has ever had the possibility of becoming canon, their interactions were amazing, but too scarce to really grow into something. That would have been great, but I would have also been perfectly happy to see them form a deep friendship. Too bad Hoechlin left the show. Edit: wait nevermind, just saw the new teaser, Derek is definitely back.
A non Teen Wolf viewer here and honestly that and statements similar to his are bulllshit.I don't think the actors mean to hurt anybody but some have a tendency to write off viewers that see a potential queer relationship in an insulting way while fans of a straight will they won't they storyline are encouraged to keep watching FOR that couple and are seen as more legitimate by some crew members of shows.
Exactly, and even so, it wasn't even concerning his character. Hoechlin and O'Brien have always been respectful toward the viewers who shipped them together. Posey actually said that statement when the question was directed at Hoechlin, who after that, tried to repair the damage saying it was great to see fans so invested in the show (quite generic but hey, at least he didn't dismiss the idea). That's why it was even worse to hear Posey say such a rude thing. Sometimes I get that the actors can be clumsy and don't actually mean to hurt anybody. But in his case, it's hard to find him an excuse. I get that Alexander was offended, hard not to be when the words "twisted and bizarre" are used to talk about a gay pairing.
Teen Wolf viewer here. I agree that the show queerbaited and treated LGBTQ and POC unfairly (some who fall into both categories like Danny, and some who fall into one or the other like Kira). However, I think Tyler Posey's statement is taken slightly out of context. I think he said it out of anger. He was getting pushed to the side as the main character of the show to make room for queerbaiting fanservice for Sterek. He was receiving hate, even death threats, related to Sterek. Some "fans" (I put fans in quote because if you hate on the actors, are you even really a fan) said he should leave the show to make more room for Sterek. A main actor. Leaving his own show. For a ship. What started out as a crack ship, and then has been unfairly tantalized, has gained so much power that the Teen Wolf writers support it over anything. I like how they developed Stiles's bisexuality, and I agree that he is at least bisexual, but Posey was not asked about Stiles’s bisexuality; that interview did not start with a question about Sterek in terms of gay representation or something similar. The interviewer simply asked for Posey’s thoughts on Sterek, and Posey gave an honest answer.
@Mandy A: I'm sorry but I can't agree :( His words were not out of context, the interview and the question were simple: what do you think of Sterek? Directed at Hoechlin. Posey answers it in his place and says it's bizarre, twisted and weird. These are strong and offensive words directed to a fandom, but also the LGBT+ community. Again, has he said the same thing about Stydia? Nope. And the fandom is just as huge as the Sterek one. Sounds like it doesn't bothering him the same way. I wonder why... And if it's out of anger and just a honest opinion, it's even worse, it just proves that he is a conceited actor with a problem of ego (as well as a problem with gay pairing). It's not because you're the main actor that every fan of the show must watch it for you and the stories around you. It's not rare that a secondary character is more liked because he will be much less "gary stue/mary sue" than the hero, and so, more easy to relate to. And unfortunately no, there is no clear indication that Stiles is indeed bi. In the mainstream television and our heteronormative society, as long as it is not stated clearly, we can only hope, but most viewers will refuse to acknowledge it (he can't be bi! He's been with women only). That's why it's necessary, for ONCE, to have it clearly stated. And it won't be the case with Stiles. When Sterek won a competition for the most loved ship in a tv show, and way above a lot of straight ships, Jeff Davis said that if they continued to won, Sterek might become canon (you can check it on the internet). It was around season 2. For two years, Sterek won. Have we seen any improvement between the two characters? No, that's why it's queerbaiting. That's why we are becoming more and more sensitive about queerbaiting, and words that are offensive to us. It's just tiring to never have a primary character that we can relate to. (Also don't take it personally, I'm just answering to Posey's statement and our... despondency, I have nothing against you ^^).
True, he could have used less derogatory adjectives, but there's a time where enough is enough. Maybe he meant how it was twisted that the Teen Wolf writers wanted to focus on a ship more than a storyline. Maybe he meant how it was bizarre that Stiles is 17-18 and Derek is in his mid twenties. And then there's race issues (a biracial actor moved to the side for two white dudes). I don't know. But Posey didn't say "watch the show for me." He's not conceited. He's not angry at the ship, he's angry at the Sterek fans who have told him that he's a horrible actor, should be killed off so Stiles is the main character, and should be raped. I'm not kidding. These things were said. He could have worded it differently and made it clearer, but he deserved to be upset anyhow. In relation to Stiles, there HAS been hints about him being something other than straight. All in the video. Is it bisexuality? We don't know for sure but it's the most logical answer. Honestly, don't pay attention to Jeff. He's a great producer, but he's been manipulating the fans. He goes back and forth between Sterek and Stydia. He takes away characters for no reason. Personally, I don't care who Stiles ends up with. If Sterek becomes canon, I'm cool with it. It's okay to disagree. I have nothing against you either. I just think Posey is allowed to be a little pissed.
The fallout of Sterek is a horrifying and fascinating fiasco to which I had a front row seat. It's a blight on fandom history, a cautionary tale for creators, and, often, a strongly bitter memory for its fans who once held it in such regard. I became part of the Sterek fandom just as the first season finished airing and enjoyed it's rise from the typical, small but popular gay ship into the biggest ship in the Fandom by a huge margin (I haven't checked lately, but during what is often known as the golden age of Sterek, this pairing on AO3 outnumbered every other Teen Wolf ship combined 3:1). The fanwork was, and still is, interesting and diverse, the community was overall very positive, and it felt like something revolutionary was happening. Even when the ship was denied by many legitimate mass media outlets, the fans didn't lay down and take it, like it was kind of normal to, because the show and everyone involved was making it seem like it was not just a possibility but an eventual certainty. (We even sparked the After Elton shipping poll because of the upset caused when we were denied a spot elsewhere). It was really the first time creators had interacted with the fans of a gay ship so much and encouraged it so sincerely, or so it seemed. The good will was eventually became embodied in the Sterek Campaign, which did a world of good and showed off how much it meant to us that they were not going to be like every other queerbait out there. The problem is, Sterek came on the heels of Merthur and Destiel, which showed the power of cultivating devotion to a ship with occasional fan service. The powers that be at Teen Wolf seemingly copied and intensified these methods, then realized they'd dug themselves a hole trying to build a following (or so most of us imagine, though some still advocate that the network just wouldn't allow it and none of the hurt was intentional). This lead them to shut the sterek fandom out cold. They made their own fanwork sharing site that didn't allow non canon ships, actors who had once seemed positively receptive turned hostile, and so much more. That's to say nothing of the lessened shared screen time and sudden female romantic interests both Derek and Stiles picked put in the show. This all allowed the haters, who once were just a small nuisance to the behemoth that was the Sterek Fandom, to become a horrifying beast that was free to tear into Sterek fans unimpeded because they'd been proven right and even some of the most die hard shippers were run out of the Fandom by them. However, this ship, despite the horrific fallout that began after season 3 started airing, is still my OTP for life because of that possibility in their relationship, growing from tension to something more. It's that start to something that really captured the imagination of this fandom, and Sterek really was such a behemoth that it did become a fandom on its own. It's truly a shame it blew up so badly because it was a truly beautiful thing at one time and I've still yet to find another ship to fill that void.
AlexDoesThings Thank you for writing this!! I only joined the fandom in the gap between s3 and 4 so i was late to the fandom and didn't know all the history, it was so interesting to read!! Its such a shame that the creators made such a beautiful relationship that was so possible and then they just cut it out along with so many fans. Its such a shame. So much potential for such great representation in the LGBT+ community in such a famous show. I know its dumb but i still have hope for them to be together at the end of this final season.
i was here for all of it.. god it really felt as if sterek was happening.. even dylan and tyler were on board! and then... we just got shut off. and the die hard teen wolf fans turned into jeff davis haters. i still love sterek but i wont touch the show unless they make sterek happen in the end OR make them both single and good friends.
coolhellu, Same. It was such a great time to be in the Fandom and then they really threw the baby out with the bathwater. I haven't watched it since I forced myself through season 4 and Derek left.
Molly, I'm glad you liked it! Sterek is a really interesting study, as well as a topic dear to my heart, and, at one time, I considered writing a book about the rises and falls of the fandom, or at least an academic paper. I'm so sorry you jumped in late to the party, but in some ways that might have been better. Things started to cool down a bit between season 3 and 4 as those who had made it through the fire storm of "fandom wank" (which became the term for any cases of either hate toward the ship or grieving that it would never be canon), had mostly found peace in completely ignoring canon after season 2 (the world's most pleasant denial hub from which we still get wonderful things) or still holding a small hope for Sterek and updating everyone on the goings on of it in canon, little as they were. So, you found the once great and mighty ship on its decline, but you missed the worst of the horror show that was its downfall; you still had the majority of the great fanworks from the Golden Age, most of which were finally finished by that point, and you had the lovely boons that were the safe zones created during season 3A, like the god send known as #EternalSterek. I'd call that a win. I always hold out hope for Sterek in the end too, but, likely for the rest of my life, I will no longer be disappointed or surprised if my ships are not made canon because I watched this metaphorical Rome burn.
What about the last few minutes of Season 3B, with Derek and Stiles in the locker room. And in the Season 4 finale, when Stiles looks back at Derek instead of rushing to save the ambiguously brown one. (no spoilers).
I got onto this series thanks to my step sister at the star I didn't want to watch it then I started liking it some time later I watched it by my own and I was like who do people ship stiles with and derek appeared I was like wait a minute....I watched the show once again from the second season and forward and the chemistry pls...😂 like I could feel it
So off topic: I've only seen Dylan O'Brian in The Maze Runner. Meaning I've never seen Teen wolf so seeing him do comedy, not yelling, not whispering, and not breathing hard is weird but now I wanna watch the show😍
Dylan O'Brien is fantastic as Stiles in _Teen Wolf._ And his performance is absolutely stellar in Season 3B! I don't want to say anything for spoilers' sake, but that is my favorite season out of them all.
Don't forget, but when Derek pushed stiles into his room against the wall, I don't know if they realized it, but they looked at each other's mouth more than 4 times :^
(songs like Down on The Street by The Stooges or Paranoid by the Black Sabbath playing in background) **Yelling to parents from window** "You can go to Disney Land without me!" "WHAT? WHY?" "yES" **runs to electronic on desk, grabs it, runs to kitchen, grabs something out of the fridge and leaves it open, runs to bedroom, flops on couch, takes a bite of food and starts watching the video** ... **video ends** "No regrets." (this is ACTUALLY EXACtly how I act when I'm planning on watching a video. I have the music in my head, I'm waiting for my family to leave and then I get really excited (like heart attack excited) and run around, grabbing food and such, humming along to the song I'm thinking of before I flop on my bed or couch and watch the video.)
The whole "twisted and bizarre" quote I believe is just personally Tyler Posey's (aka Scott) opinion, and I think it was from jealousy & anger/annoyance at Sterek questions. I'm sure he's been asked or heard many questions about Sterek from various panels/interviews. He also was roommates with both Tyler Hoechlin and Dylan O'Brien (Stiles and Derek) so he's pretty close with both actors and may have been jealous of them being shipped (possibly jealous that him and Stiles aren't shipped as much?) Regardless his comment was rude, and I'm worried for Sterek moments the last 10 Teen Wolf episodes because Tyler Posey has been helping direct this last season.
Well we didn't get to see much of Dylan and Tyler sadly. :( I would've rather watched Stiles chew on a pen all season than watch Scott do whatever he did. Sorry I just found Stiles much more interesting.
Am I the only one who finds it funny that this video came out around the time the new trailer did? You know, the one that confirms both Stiles and Derek's presence in Season 6B.
Shohina Mizrobova "You think you're doing this without me?" "Without us?" Totally no gay partnership there, even though Stiles was still in a relationship at the time but let's ignore that.
In my head they are canonically together. Like I watched 9/10ths of the show completely accepting that they're gay and then I heard about the queer-baiting thing and I was like, "Wait what? What do you mean they aren't gonna be a thing? Why am I even watching this then?"

Bilessexual?
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT why is bisexual a cursed word in this show?
Naseem R to the MTV executives when talking about a lead male yeah it’s a curse word. Apparently the early jokes by stiles were meant to suggest he was gay/bi but someone at MTV decided that Stiles was too important to be anything but straight thus why all the gays and bi boys were second and third tier parts.
“Let’s try to examine it with an.. open mind.”
*Stiles is 100% bi*
Do do do do bi yo bi
Lmfao
Can't have a secen just to be funny which is what most of them are.

it wasn't an "executive decision" Keahu Kahuanui, the actor who plays Derek, left the show because of HIS choice but he asked Jeff not to kill him off or anything incase he wanted to come back later which he never did. do not falsely accuse Jeff Davis of anything, especially when your so misinformed.

The main reason Sterek is so successful is because Dylan and Tyler have an extreme chemistry offscreen and it comes through onscreen
Russo Italiano I agree, I actually see not much of a relationship between the characters...
I also don’t see any chemistry between them, but that’s partly because I don’t think Tyler Hoechlin can act very well
Edit: at least in TW, because I've seen a trailer of his recently where he's really fleshed out and seems to be doing a great job, tbh. It was probably the same issue as Scott, where they weren't written well but were still good actors.

sterek is "bizarre, weird, and twisted" yet the show literally shoved down a pairing of Derek and Kate (the woman who molested him and killed his entire family)
Some non sterek-supporting fans say the age difference of stiles being around 17 and derek being in his mid-twenties would be too big for a couple but between derek and kate are at least ten years as well... :P derek and kate is what's "bizarre, weird, and twisted"
not even going to consider peter/lydia here.

The bisexual club question scene was also cast in pink and blue light, the whole scene was in bisexual colors. There's a lot more gay hints in the production. Hidden themes, but it was alllllll queerbait. The show used gay fans for publicity and then betrayed them. There's also the queerbaiting that happened outside of the show- look up Stiles and Derek on a boat. What the show runners did to the show was horrible. Teen Wolf is toxic.

Stiles and a crush on Lydia since 10 years in Season 1 epispde 1 tho ?

I love that Hoechlin totally called Posey out on his Sterek comment recently. Unofficially, but we know who he was talking about.

Mmm-kay.
gay jokes are allowed if the person who made the whole thing was gay himself. oh wait, he is.
@@BrolyTheSaiyanofLegend I'm not saying they aren't allowed. I'm saying it doesn't make sense to have them if the aim was to make a show set in a "world without homophobia", since even lighthearted gay jokes told by gay people are based on prejudices.

I read a theory about how Stiles was Derek's anchor and that dream was one of the main reasons 😭💕

While everyone is watching this show, I'm reading Sterek fictions from 'Archives of our own'.
They have some writers with more creativity than Jeff Davis.
yasss!!!! I sometimes only read sterek cause I love them so much
I do a similar thing with Supernatural. The show is meh at times, (you probably already know about the queerbaiting, and the representation of women is also not great (at first the women who have the most impact on the plot are the ones who died to give the male characters motivations)), but there is SO MUCH fanfiction.
ı never thought of them being together while watching the show but after I discovered Archive of our own I'm in love 😂😂

As a fellow Bi, I know one when I see one. And Stiles from the first episode stood out! I really hated all the baiting they did, and the later season weren't as good, but I would have liked to see them develop the relationship more.
Not gonna lie I would love if Stiles and Derek dated.

In my experience, if the question needs to be asked?
Yes. They are gay.
Derek looks like the guy on the cover of every shooter game ever.
Yeahhh, I didn't even bother watching the rest of the seasons cuz i was pissed, i just finished season 4 and thats it lol.
Brendon more like BrenDAD you're talking about the 6A kiss right? So forced and only to get their ratings back up
Yea I know, like I totally ship Stydia and loved that they got together , but it was either them or Sterek both were fine for me. But it did seem rather forced, like were did her sudden love come from , and then last season we didn't even had anything from Stydia. They could've done so much out of Sterek.
Shin. Miyagami. Exactly!! Stydia was a huge disappointment in the last season not to mention their kiss felt really forced.
That's it. Plus her and Dylan weren't even that close in real life
I'm sad you didn't include the moment at the end of season 4 when Derek nearly dies from a bezerker and he's lying on the ground and tells everyone to just go and save Scott,, Stiles was the only one to look back about 7 times before finally running with them
I know right ✅️ 😩 😫
It may be my *HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA* talking 😂
Curtle Turtle at least he’s honest

Theo and Liam reminded me of Derek and Stiles they’re like a mini version
Omg... Woah
.....huh.
OMG
Omg, this could be a powerful hidden plot thoughout the 6 seasons
You remind me there's a scene of Stiles's words to Allison's dad, that he sarcastically brought up the fire scene of Hale's, and got really angry about it as if he was there
Nevermind the shameless use of the sterek fandom to drive their views up, I honestly felt like stiles and Derek could've been endgame.
Oh well.
Snorlaxation I love how this kind of describes klance
I feel even Dylan and Tyler were personally totally up for playing gay characters and shipping sterek. You should see Tyler hoechlins smile when he says stiles
"there's just some girl called erica lying unconcious by the pool?????" I CACKLED BRUH honestly tho erica had a whole lotta character development

"anger at the season 4 finale of Sherlock" SAME
We will never forget. Or forgive.
Trinity omg what happened?
(SPOILERS)
The whole plot twist with Sherlock having a sister was incredibly contrived and it didn't make sense given the context of the other seasons.
At the very least Stiles has a crush on Derek.
Just wanna say, I watched the first episode and immediately made a list on how to improve it. One of the first things I wrote was "but they're in college"
As far as I know, college has the same energy but 1) adults of legal consenting age and 2) adults running on caffeine and existential fear.
"ambiguously brown"
I literally heard that as I read this omg
Why? CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME?!
"punching him out of sexual frustration! THEYRE LAYING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER"
The fallout of Sterek is a horrifying and fascinating fiasco to which I had a front row seat.
AlexDoesThings was here during all that. 😭 painful. really painful.
i was here for all of it.. god it really felt as if sterek was happening.. even dylan and tyler were on board! and then... we just got shut off. and the die hard teen wolf fans turned into jeff davis haters. i still love sterek but i wont touch the show unless they make sterek happen in the end OR make them both single and good friends.
coolhellu, Same.

You know what’s crazy, I spent 21 minutes in 2020 watching this and I was actually intrigued 😔😩
and now its 2022 and I watched it xD
Shojoerday he was bitter Sterek was getting more attention than him as the main xter
Lucky Shaz his acting in season one is shit how did they cast him as the main character I still don’t get it
@@ipek6851 I believe its because he was somewhat famous
Well we didn't get to see much of Dylan and Tyler sadly. :( I would've rather watched Stiles chew on a pen all season than watch Scott do whatever he did. Sorry I just found Stiles much more interesting.
Shin. Miyagami. Completely agree with you
Am I the only one who finds it funny that this video came out around the time the new trailer did? You know, the one that confirms both Stiles and Derek's presence in Season 6B.
Shohina Mizrobova "You think you're doing this without me?"
"Without us?"
Totally no gay partnership there, even though Stiles was still in a relationship at the time but let's ignore that.
there was that moment start of season 5 where stiles looks at dereks initials on that bookshelf and I was like yes they are in love
In my head they are canonically together. Like I watched 9/10ths of the show completely accepting that they're gay and then I heard about the queer-baiting thing and I was like, "Wait what? What do you mean they aren't gonna be a thing? Why am I even watching this then?"
Yeah it was disheartening. 😢
