Just a quick tip for some people! Based on my experience just use Reflect to guard most of his attacks to get some of that juicy extra damage in. When you get in a panic just abuse Limit's Sonic Rave to get your HP back up. I beat him under three minutes doing that! So yeah, good luck.
TripleA9000 allow me to help: 1. Ultima Weapon 2. Elixirs or Hi-Potions and Ethers 3. Get to lvl 99 4. when you notice you're down to critical HP (flashing and beeping) DONT USE CURAGA, USE A POTION and stay in the air, using air combos, or evade until he vanishes and triggers the reaction command 5. dont get scared and use curaga, if u have potions 6. set auto limit in your abilities, it will help if u ran out of potions and ur magic needs to recharge 7. DO NOT finish combos when he's fazed (lava floor is gone) dont use the final hit in your combo, press the square button to knock him into the air and use Aerial attacks and be ready to use reflega to block and at the same time, deal damage reply if it didnt work out for you
Axel is a bit easier then some others just because his moveset is very simplistic and easy to avoid. The only tricky part is when he uses the firewalls, you've got know when to block and/or dodge, and when to use Burst Frontier. Besides that he's not too difficult. About on par with Data Roxas.
I forgot that guard existed for 90% percent of the game until I got to twtnw and I kept getting clapped by Roxas, and I learned the hard way that you have to use guard or reflect at the beginning or your already fucked lol

The easiest ways to do this is to have *Finishing plus* (I think that's what it's called), and preform a single ground combo in normal form. Or, you could go into *Limit Form*, and perform *Sonic Rave*, once done successfully, he will counter by, either, gliding across the field or dropping in from above, and you just press Triangle when that happens.
Stragedy: [16 bars of health] this fight is pretty tough. Your constantly losing health from the start of battle until you perform a rc when hes hiding behind a wall of fire and the floor is back to normal for now. But axel will change it back pretty quickly. Anyways use reaction command(rc) and block and dodge his attacks when possible.

When Axel covers the floor in Fire/Magma, whatever, he can't be killed. The floor needs to be normal for him to die. Maybe that's why he didn't go down.
hey. i got a question. i just finished the cave and activated the data battles. i did it after finishing the world that never was (but i didnt beat final xemnas until now). and i only got 3 data battles. where r the battles of saix and luxord and roxas? what am i missing. do i have to finish another thing?
after finishing the story of world that never was i did the caverns. i activated the computer for the data battles. but i only get axel, xaldin and demyx, the three u see at the cutscene. but shouldnt the other data battles be activated as well? or do i have to finish the game first? for example roxas data battle should be there after the fight in deep dive shouldnt it?
i dafeated the silhouettes exept marluxia. what do you mean by clear save file? i didnt clear the game completely, i just played until kingdomhearts coz i wanted to save the final xemnas fight for later
Naruto Uchiha once you beat the game you have an option to save the game which will create a "Clear Save" file, and when you load it back up, it'll start you before the Final battle. I think not having a "Clear Save" File may be what is keeping the others locked, though I'm not entirely sure.
***** You must be playing on critical. On Critical your health bar is halved so it max's out at 60. On proud and lower your health is maxed out at 120.

this fight on critical mode is absolute hell. His lava floor bullshit takes you down to 1 hp in like, 15 seconds.

When Axel covers the floor in Fire/Magma, whatever, he can't be killed. The floor needs to be normal for him to die.

What level were you?
I believe I was level 90-95.
I also had a bunch of armor equipped that, together, reduce fire damage by 55%.
Sonic uses less magic and i'm pretty sure would end up doing more damage.

Level up Limit Form to Lv. 3 then go to your abilities it should be under "Growth."

bigk9000 Try using thunder, it's cheap, safe, and will end the battle as it counts as a finishing move.
