  • Learn how to crochet this beautiful crochet puff flower circle in a square motif and join as you go with a very pretty lacy edge. This motif would look stunning in a cotton yarn and would make for a gorgeous shawl - blocking your project will really make the delicate lacy join stand out.
    The puff stitch is one of my favourites and has such great texture!
    Used with soft acrylic yarn, it makes for the most squishy blanket. A versatile motif which I hope you will enjoy! Scroll for the all important timestamps, links and written pattern 😀👇

    Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on RUclips yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
    How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
    How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
    Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
    How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
    Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
    Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

    The only stitch that is my nemesis is the puff/popcorn stitch. I just can't do this one and have it come out looking as good as the ones I see in patterns. I've scrolled through many of your tutorials and you seem to love using this stitch, lol. I tried this one with the same size hook/yarn you used, and lo and behold, mine's a wonky mangled-looking mess. It really looks horrible, lol. Frogging, saving my beloved purple yarn for another "let me try this one" pattern, and moving on, lolol.

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  4 года назад +3

      If it's in the middle of the blanket, then join the corners diagonally - if it is the outside edge of the blanket, join next to each other (does that make sense? It's kinda hard to explain via text! 😂) It doesn't really matter though, you can join them all next to each other if you want to - the diagonal corner join simply highlights the lacy aspect - it's not crucial 👍

      hmm I'm not sure what a 4 weight yarn is equivalent to here in the UK - BUT - it should work for any yarn! See what hook size your chosen yarn recommends and have a play; you may want to go up a hook size depending on how puffy your puff stitches look 😀

    Hi! Is it doable to do the continuous join as you go with this pattern? I have all my circles done and am ready to square and join them. I can't work out in my head how continuous chain as you go would work for this, though. I think it's not possible, correct?
    P.S. I am very happy with how the circles look so far!

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  3 года назад

      You can absolutely do this with a continous join as you go! Have you see my video on it? It might help you visualise how to do with with these circles :) ruclips.net/video/kKsb_1YTV4I/видео.html

    • @nikkimichaelson795

      @@HookedbyRobin Yes, I've used that very video before! I was thinking that because the picot circles back to the stitch where it came from, that's why it wouldn't work.. Looking at the piece I'm working on, I see it IS possible. You just have to divorce from the picot whereever you jump to a corner of another square, like on those raw edges. Its a brain teaser.

  • @77sun222

    • @HookedbyRobin

      The joining is at 17:35 in the video - just substitute out chains for slip stitches where the squares touch 🙂👍

    • @mitzierao9251
      @mitzierao9251 4 года назад +1

      @@HookedbyRobin I think the question is when joining the next square to the ivory one, when you join in the corner would you slip stitch in the same place as you did the ivory or would it go in the gray one (if that made any sense)?

    • @HookedbyRobin
      @HookedbyRobin  4 года назад

      Oh yes, sorry I'm with you - I tend to join the corners to the diagonal opposite square as I generally make big long rows first (so this sample being 9 squares, imagine the ivory row one is the only row - I'd start with that one row first so ignore the other 6 squares that are in the video) ..... I don't think I'm explaining myself very well haha! Have you seen my tight join as you go video? That explains it better (although the joining method is different) ruclips.net/video/enmdj2aKgtk/видео.html it shows how I'd join the next row - just ignore the joining method and picture these puff circles if you can 😅

      For your very first square, you would make the final round in its entirety - you'd start joining from the second 🙂

      You could absolutely join using the continuous join as you go technique though!

      The ice yarn I get off their official website. The other yarn is unfortunately no longer available where I bought it from. But these places may have it:
      Snufflebean Yarn - UK based, ships worldwide bit.ly/3d9vUK1
      Ice Yarn www.iceyarns.com/git/681/
      LoveCrafts (grab your Stylecraft Special DK and American branded yarns here!) bit.ly/3U8flPa
      My Amazon Storefront (all the products I use!) www.amazon.co.uk/shop/hookedbyrobin
      I hope that helps and thank you for your lovely comment.😃🥰
