Mansfield Park is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by British author Jane Austen that premiered in the UK on ITV channel on March 18, 2007.
Adultery is not a typical Jane Austen theme, but when it disturbs the relatively peaceful household at Mansfield Park, it has quite unexpected results.
The diffident and much put-upon heroine Fanny Price has to struggle to cope with the results, re-examining her own feelings while enduring the cheerful amorality, old-fashioned indifference and priggish disapproval of those around her.
While less enjoyable than the 1999 adaptation of the novel, this TV movie remains faithful to the greater part of the narrative where the former took many, unwarranted liberties with the most pivotal part and chief characters of the story.
One of the things that's almost sad is that while, Rushworth isn't the most brilliant man in the world, it's not like he's hideous or a jerk. He's obviously really sweet on her, and he seems incredibly gentle-hearted. I'd take Rushworth over Henry Crawford (knowing his real character) any day.
Miss Crawford playing the harp is the only reason I'm watching this 😍😍
Agent Peggy Carter fan me too, love this piece of music.
I read the comments and awaited Klaus but an "oh my god! Klaus!?" still came out of my mouth when he all of a sudden appeared on screen :D
...love Joseph Morgan! He's become such an amazing actor.
["This adaptation is so flawed sigh."]
I have yet to see a flawless adaptation of "MANSFIELD PARK".
I love Joseph Morgan so much, i love his look, the way he speaks...he is perfekt ;)
Joseph Morgan is the only reason why I'm watching this lmao
"You sighed, Miss Crawford."
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
I love that almost all the comments are about Klaus! lol!
William is so cute!!!
I'm waiting for William to rip someones heart out !!! Lol KLAUS
William *is* indeed the better looking one of the lot.
William is sooo evil in the Vampire Diaries. I can only see him as Klaus!
Here's a new take, Mariah = Susan Pevensie. And both have brothers named Edmund. 😆
Does anyone happen to know the name of the 'harp song' that Mary plays? It starts at 7:53. I Can't seem to be able to find the name :-(

7:53
The camera work is so nauseating.
What gives?
This adaptation is so flawed sigh. Some actors and their characters depiction. Hair, gowns, not to mention the amount of pushed up cleavage in this adaptation.
Is the dislikeable stepfather that Mary had referred to supposed to be the uncle who had kept his mistress within the family household in the novel and other versions?
If Mary was such a real gold digger, I cannot help but wonder why she didn't simply drop her interest in Edmund and started paying more attention to Tom after his return to Mansfield Park. It would have made more sense.
Tom liked drink and although edmud is second son for inheritance, he was considered more reliable character if he had given up his wishes to become a clergyman, he would have made more
@@nariny1004 How do we know that? And even so, Tom would have made the better choice for an ambitious person like Mary. So, the idea of her automatically being a gold digger, when she continued to view Edmund as her future husband made no sense to me.
@@DRush76 I don’t think she was a gold digger….she’s more of a social climber, she’s a perfect social chameleon who adapts herself to the behaviors of the people around her…at Mansfield she’s kind and proper thinking but in London she’s cold and vain….she was set on Tom but then found him to be a drunk and against her “better judgment” she found herself falling for Edmund…when Tom was sick it was obvious she’d only marry Edmund if he inherited the estate and then she’d be able to forget the fact that he’s a clergyman
God why do people keep casting billy piper she is so bad
This adaptation is the MOST ridiculous and miscast adaptation of any classic literature I might have ever seen. It starts with Billie Piper and goes downhill from there. She would pretty much be the last person in the world cast as Fanny Price. Did they even read the novel?
Helen - I think because Austen scholars find the character of Fanny Price to be an absolute mystery as she is so different from her other heroines (shy, timid and quiet), Mansfield Park is probably the most difficult one of her publications to put on screen. Which is a pity because I honestly enjoy the book (I just finished it again today).
