Mansfield Park is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by British author Jane Austen that premiered in the UK on ITV channel on March 18, 2007.
Adultery is not a typical Jane Austen theme, but when it disturbs the relatively peaceful household at Mansfield Park, it has quite unexpected results.
The diffident and much put-upon heroine Fanny Price has to struggle to cope with the results, re-examining her own feelings while enduring the cheerful amorality, old-fashioned indifference and priggish disapproval of those around her.
While less enjoyable than the 1999 adaptation of the novel, this TV movie remains faithful to the greater part of the narrative where the former took many, unwarranted liberties with the most pivotal part and chiel characters of the story.

Why are people complaining that they don't get this or can't understand. As long as you pay attention and use your wits, its not very hard. I am getting everything.

Heather Jephcott Wow you're a very dissatisfied person. I think each version deserves its merit- they don't all have to match the book to a T, I think the differences are what make each version unique. Honestly, I'm glad Blake Ritson was cast as Edmund because I couldn't stand him as Elton (because of the character being horrible), but he's very handsome I think and makes a good Edmund.

They really should put on a Shakespearean tragedy. A play where everyone dies at the end.

Following what is going on is not the problem, but it is loosing a lot by leaving key points out.
By the way, what happened to Mr. Yates? - Or the Grants?

Or the key scene near the end when Fanny gets sent back home to Portsmouth to help her decide to marry Mr. Crawford. In that scene, we see what her mother's life has turned out to be by making the wrong choice in marriage. And then, Fanny decides to marry Crawford because of it. (Of course, she later changes her mind.)

oh this version is so disappointing! really really need to read the book first (always a good idea anyway) to get what the hell is going on here. it is so rushed and hastily written. they miss so many key elements of the story so unless you've read the book (or at least watched the 1980's one) you can[t understand the motivations of...anyone really. sigh. it's such a shame becasue the actors and scenery are beautiful - they just should have extended it at least another hour & fleshed it out

Blake Ritson makes a great Edmund but this Fanny is so miscast! I think she would have made a better Mary Crawford.
