Thank you! I’m here just to watch Vanessa James and her first French partner, Yannick Bonheur. Nice to the old stuff. And they skated so beautifully. I wonder why they parted ways.
Shen & Zhao were always brilliant athletes. Ever since the 2003 Worlds, they became exquisite artists. I always get choked up every time I watch them skate. If they had this type of emotional impact when they were going head-to-head with the Russians and the Canadians, it wouldve been very hard to decide who would win. I absolutely love this pair. Such a joy to see them skate.

This short program from Shen and Zhao I think will go down in history as one of the most exquisite short programs of all time. They leave me speechless every time I revisit it. Incredible.

The Estonians didn't have much luck that year in figure skating - the young ice dance pair fell as well..what a shame, because the rest of their program was beautiful, but they got poor marks because of the fall! My heart dropped when she fell, and then the stumble shortly after.
Shen and Zhao....my god, that was so incredible and moving. So much sweet sorrow, passion and love. I can't decide which I like better, the short or long. Both are truly exquisite.

When the last three/four couples went I nearly started crying because they were so beautiful! Especially the chinese couple with the blue flowing outfits. Although I have to admit, the German's "Send in the clowns" was absolutely amazing! I love watching ice-skating ^_^
I'm American and while I loved my team I'm also fan of Vera and Yuri from Russia. I've watched them on RUclips. They're fantastic and they did a great job here.

The scheduling of who skates first depends on recent competition results. Since Shen/Zhao had just come out of retirement and the Olympics was their first major competition- there was nothing to base their placement off of- so they went first.

there is a numerical draw for all skaters....they just got an early number.

I can't believe how the figure skaters can just lift each other up......so cool O.O
at this point everything was fine for our German team, but not after day 2. still an amazing program. Hope they can make it right this time! Seems like they always get big competition when olympics come. They need to make their peace with olympic games! ^^

@MrBubblygoodness not quite, notice how at around 0:05:30 to 0:05:42 when they are doing side-by-side spins they were not quite in sync with one another. At first glance they might appear in sync because they move quite fast, but if you notice carefully, they are not in sync with one another.

@ckMC13410 There is no maximum score - there are available points for each move, based on difficulty and how well it was executed. The scores for each move are added together and then added to a 'component score' - skating skills, choreography transitions between moves etc. It's not an easy system - but i hope this helps! :)

I LOVED tha very first Canadian couple, (light green clothes). That left me speechless, you could see their interaction and connection. Ah,,.. that was a great one!

Amazing how some teams just click and others do not. Imagine if Maxim had retired after Vancouver and had never teamed up - professionally or personally - with Tatiana... Apparently his relationship with Maria was miserable, and it showed on the ice, and commentators mentioned it often.

The first Russian couple - girl in pink - were very good. They just have to work on their synchronization and timing and they should be great. They're pretty on the ice.

The french were amazing
They were nice to watch, but they had a lot of mistakes. Funnily enough, almost all of judges decided that their double salchows were executed on 0, one said that on -1 and one - on -3. Why the hell -3? Did they fall in his eyes?
Ouch I felt bad for the ones that kept wiping out.
The Chinese did GREAT ! Muahh, gotta love them. They train the hardest, work the hardest, and bring the best!
@Lariov The Russians had a 46 year streak of getting the Olympic gold in pairs. If anything, it's about time another style of skating (as in not Russian) was rewarded.

I guess being partners not only inside the ring but outside as well helps with the synchronisation for the Chinese, perfect

Qing pang and tong jian are legends, Myths. greatest couple ever...shen and zhao also rock, but I dont know, artistically I prefer Tong and Pang. Especially Tong, as far as male pairs skaters go, he´s the best, most artistic one there ever was
