      No one can deny how truly groundbreaking he was as a competitive athlete, but what made so many of us stay is his commitment and dedication to the sport, regardless of whatever circumstances (and to new fans, trust me, there A Lot of circumstances) and stones are hurled his way, his unprecedented mindset towards skating, in what ways exactly he expresses his unending adoration for it - through countless interviews, documentaries, media days, competitions, it is very clear we will never see another who loves skating quite as much as he does. “Skating equals living” and “(during the earthquake this March after he returned from Beijing) the number one thing on my mind was to protect my boots. I felt that even if I was in danger, I would still retrieve it, protect - I thought I might cry at the thought of protecting it. Perhaps this is what figure skating is to me.”
      Among other things as well, like his SIX crossover short program, Rondo Capriccioso, who experts have said was impossible to execute. Or truly unbelievable transitions and innovations, and matching every single movement of his boots to every nuance in the music. He really was the most dedicated competitive skater of all time.

    Uh, it's about damn time you publish the "official" video of this masterpiece, considering it's the best free skate ever. But I get that you still feel ashamed of the underscoring of this world record...or at least you should be ashamed.

    • @mireiafarreras9542
      @mireiafarreras9542 Год назад +4

      I don't completely understand how scores go in this sport yet, so why does everyone say he got underscored? I mean he made a mindblowing WR if I'm not mistaken (322 points in total)

    • @henni1475
      @henni1475 Год назад +104

      @@mireiafarreras9542 At first glance, these 223.20 points appear a lot, as it was a world record score at that time. However, if you take a closer look at the rules and scoring guidelines, and compare the judges' marks for this performance with others, you can't help but think that it's a disappointing result.
      Hanyu has received a total of 29 perfect scores for technical elements internationally in the course of his career, but not a single one for this performance. None of the 13 executed elements got unanimous +3 GOE from the judging panel despite the high quality of execution.
      Also, this free skate program was the most balanced to be performed in international competition up to date, especially in transition quality and composition, yet it only received the sixth highest program component score (PCS) in men's singles, which is a shame.
      Personally, my conviction is that no skater has ever been truly underscored, but rather ridiculously overscored, especially in the program components. However, this particular program - even if you ruthlessly stick with the rules and scoring guidelines - should have deserved at least 227 to 228 of the max possible 234.33 points. That's how outstanding it was.

    • @mireiafarreras9542
      @mireiafarreras9542 Год назад +14

      @Henni147 thank you so much for explaining!! I felt really impressed by this performance cause I believe everything he did was perfection, but I didn't know about the maximum you could get and everything! Anyway even underscored, the score he got is still so f*cking amazing, I mean 233.20 out of 234.33, WOW

    • @henni1475
      @henni1475 Год назад +55

      He got 223.20 of possible 234.33. This is 11 points away from the maximum.
      If scoring was consistent and strictly following the guidelines for all skaters and performances, then it would be indeed a great score. But looking at the very selective judging and some blatant candies that have been awarded in the last two systems, these 11 points are a harsh deduction for this once-in-a-lifetime skate.

    巧みなエッジコントロールとボディコントロールで
    こんなに一糸乱れぬ美しさを見せてくれた。
    誰より大きく均整のとれたジャンプ達と共に。
    体力的にはもちろんキツいプログラムだろうに、女神の様な佇まいと併せて、素晴らしいものを見せて貰った。
    そして、今の羽生くんの演技をファンタジーオンアイスで見た?
    ここからまた、上達してるんだよ。
    よりエモーショナルになって。
    今後も応援するしかないよ😍

    when an athlete decided to retire, part of them died within that. he has been on the competitive skating all his life, i believe part of him died with the announcement that he made yesterday. cheers for his new chapters ahead. life wont be the same and things will take so much time to sink in, but there will be a bright path ahead for sure.
    I hope the best for his new journey as a pro skater, doing what he loves the most without the uneasy feeling of injustice and bias judgement. cheers to the living legacy of the true beauty of figure skating, hanyu yuzuru🥂

    Thank you Yuzu for competing until this day. Your march will continue, you will still be the light that guides many of us. Not being judged by this system will cast no doubt on you being the greatest of all time. I will definitely miss the days when you ruled the competition ice rink but I know you will give us more to expect in the future. Hope you can skate to yourself freely & safely! And so happy my all time favorite 2017 H&L is also considered your most memorable one

    What I want to say is Yuzuru Hanyu is the greatest figure skater even in the meaning of athlete as well as in the meaning of artist. I have never seen who can skate like him. His performance always told me how figure skating should be. Especially like his transition technic between jump and jump, elegant and emotional and difficult, creative in and out about jump, even quads and triple accel jump. I will miss Yuzuru Hanyu's brilliant competition career fulfilled with glory in men single figure skating.
    Congratulations Yuzuru Hanyu for the beginning of a new journey as professional athlete. I am so happy to have met him and be able to support him from 2013. Thank you Yuzury Hanyu, the angle on ice, the one and the only.

    Phenomenal program! One of the best ever! It’ll stand the rest of time as Yuzuru will stand the test of time as the GOAT of man’s figure skating.
    Shame on you ISU for underscoring Yuzuru all these years. I hope you are happy now that he’s finally leaving the world of competitive figure skating. You got your wish. Now can you please put artistic expression back into the scoring system?
    I am certainly happy for Yuzuru because he is now free to express his artistry and skate the way he wants, without being judged. He’s beyond scores and medals. He’s a true performer, a true artist!

    To be honest. This was the performance that made me mesmerized and fall for his graceful skating. It was like he was dancing along to the tunes of every note, the flow was smooth and the way his skates touched the ice as though he was born for it making it look so effortless. Captivating Yuzu; one of a kind, forever grateful.

      I honestly wasn’t into figure skating like that until I saw yuzuru😭 I tried to watch other skaters, but they all seem to focus on jumps. I like yuzuru because his skating feels more like a story being told..very artistic and interpretive. A young skater called xiangyi an reminds me of yuzuru hanyu.

    It's touching to know that it was his most 'Yuzuru Hanyu' performance for him and we can understand why he thinks so. It's a very unique program, it's so much him. It's the greatest free skate ever - the combination of a very difficult program full with transitions, 4 quads including the rare 4Lo, the most difficult spins and step sequences, the absolute perfect execution of all the elements, and the incredible delicacy in interpretation, the sense of musicality makes it a performance incomparable to any other. It's the pinnacle of men's figure skating. I still can't express the atmosphere in the arena after he finished skating to it, we all knew we witnessed something that was once-in-a-lifetime experience.
    Thank you Yuzuru for your beautiful performances that touched the heart of millions of fans around the world, and enjoy your professional career.
