Wow, the gold and silver Chinese pairs were excellent. The silver pair was exciting and the gold pair was incredibly moving. I love that this video has no commentators interfering with the mood of the performance.

Pang Qing and Tong Jian are so perfect!! Romantic, beautiful, touching. Unforgettable!
Shen/Zhao's choreography is a masterpiece but Pang and Tong were majestic.
Well I became emotional watching the German team. Pure perfection! stellar performance!
Thank you for sharing this. I love, love, love the Canadian audience. Them and the Japanese. They've got such a deep love for this sport. They root for their athletes as they ought to, but they cheer for ALL the athletes, and you hear the "awwww" when they make a mistake, even if they are the competition. Love them.

This was a wonderful pairs event. So many great performances at this Olympics.
The gold and silver couples really deserved it:
1. Ridiculously ambitious technical stuff, which they nailed
2. Programs that fit the music
3. Gentlemen and lady equally matched in strength; you didn't have the sense that a huge guy was just tossing around a tiny chick
4. Did you see the arm styling for the #1 couple? super elegant
5. So happy to get out there, they were about to bust out of their costumes with joy...
France was awesome too, they hit #2-5 of the above; they just didn't have as much skill on #1.
Somebody was saying the third chinese pair (zhangdan zhanghao) should get higher, but I thought they were meh b/c they didn't fit the music; they seemed super anxious and the lady's arms looked like just blocks of wood.
I really enjoy wacthing the black team from france.love love love them I was on the edge of my seat.they are perfect together. To wacth them skate bought tears to my eyes..mot see more of them.alot of Energy on the ice!
wouldn't be an Ice Skating competition without Romeo & Juliet music soundtrack.

The French pair blew my mind. That was so incredible. It was fluid and perfect.
Shen and Zhao are so missed, I agree with the other comments here! It's rare to witness a pair so unbelievably talented who also happen to be total class acts! It has been an absolute joy to watch them grow over the years, both in terms of talent and chemistry. They are certainly, imo, one of the greatest pairs in the history of the sport. And Pang and Tong earned mad respect as well.
FRANCE did such a beautiful job, I got chills just watching them!!

While Pant and Tong's performance was awesome, I still think I enjoyed Shen Xue and Zhao Hong Bo's awesomeness and they were so in sync with eachother,
Shen / Zhao were fabulous!
Shen & Zhao are amazing skaters. I remember first time I saw them was 1996 in Edmonton. But the forward outside death spiral was ugly.

The top three teams deserved their placement, however the scoring is still crocked. Several teams skated a clean routine and should have had better scores than those teams who had falls and misses. Many teams skated badly and still had decent scores. I guess the judging never changes. I've enjoyed Shen and Zhao since they first came on the scene many years ago. Their performance are always outstanding.

I’m here just to watch Vanessa James with her first French partner Yannick Bonheur. They skated so beautifully ❤ I wonder why they parted ways not long after.

I am realizing tessa and scott are fantastic;but id do get bored quickly. where charlie and meryl i am pulled into their story telling and they do not hold back, they too are fantastic. what an incredible coach marina and won't quote the last name. she is by far one of the best. blessings to all of them.

Evora/Ladwig had a good program but why better score tan the french team??
dan zhang and hao zhang should be on the podium, they have only one mistake and their lifts and throw jumps are better than the Germany

+PlaidBadge The amount of slots a country receives at an Olympics or World Championships is determined by the previous year's World Championships. Three is the maximum amount of teams/skaters a country can enter in an Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, and Four Continents Championships. At the World Championships, a country's top two placements must equal 13 or less to qualify three spots (6th place + 7th place = 13 points). If a country only has one entry, the sole skater/team must place in the top two in order to qualify for three spots. To qualify two entries, the top two placements must equal to or be less than 28. If a country only has one skater representing, the lone skater must place in the top ten to qualify two entries for his/her/their country.
For this Olympics, the Chinese Pairs at the 2009 World Championships qualified three entries for the Olympics and 2010 World Championships. Zhang/Zhang placed 3rd while Pang/Tong placed 5th. 3 + 5 = 8. Russia also qualified three entries with Kavaguti/Smirnov placing 2nd and Mukhortova/Trankov placing 4th. 2 + 4 = 6. They were the only two countries to qualify three teams for the Olympics and 2010 Worlds in the pairs competition. Canada missed it by two points with Dube/Davison placed 7th and Duhamel/Buntin placing 8th. 7 + 8 = 15.

everybody was happy for xue and hongbo. they ve been waiting for this moment for many years. it was not perfect and they did not win the free programm but whatever ;) 3rd in 2002. 3rd in 2006. and finaly 1st in 2010.

I watched carefully every couple from the begining. The Estonian couple had very poor sincronicity in rotation and poor artistry... Judging sucks.

Everybody is talking about the Chinese pairs and they were great..... for me the best program was the Germans, it was breathtaking, romantic, sweet ( one of my favorites long programs pairs) but I had to admit that they gave away the gold medal with the two mistakes they had.....the double axel and the spin. I watched it live 9 yrs ago and I was sooo sad. Alyona got her gold on 2018, I wished Robin could get it as well, they split up😞

I kind of feel sorry for Germany. The other two medalists were chinese and they started fussing over the flag, leaving them behind and stuff like that..They were awesome too!!
