I know Zagitova got a lot of flack for wearing tutus, but I think her Black Swan tutu was gorgeous, stunning and a work of art.

Who else noticed how on @3:48:06 Aline started transformation from the white swan into the black one - by changing the colour of the "wings" - the transformation was completed in the very end! How beautiful and thoughtful - even the costume!

Alina is amazing! She totally deserved it! Black Swan, Don Quixote, Carmen, Cleopatra... So many incredible interpretations. No matter what, she forever will be remembered as Red Ballerina.

@@churchboy4609 She was 15 at the olympics. Shes now 17 and won Worlds earlier this year. Shes achieved so much within the first 2 seasons of her being a senior. Shes won everything you can win in figure skating. Its crazy.

I read that Daniil said in an interview, that he had in his mind this choreography and music for a long time, and he wanted to give it to Julia Lipnitskaya, but when he showed it to her, Julia didn't like it and she refused to perform this masterpiece.
I believe that was for better, I cannot imagine this piece of art without Alina. She IS the one and only black swan for me.😍😍

@@Angel-xe2tl She pronounces her own name with a Y sound not a J sound. And she spells it with a Y. And all competitions including ones in English speaking countries spelled it with a Y. So in this case I think Yulia is the correct spelling

I'm only 44 minutes in, but must comment already on the very gracious performance of Kim Hanul of the Republic of Korea. Truly promising young lady, in my opinion. Enjoyed watching her performance so much.

Черный лебедь - это что-то невероятно по энергетике, музыка держит в таком напряжении, аж дух захватывает. Чтоб соответствовать этой музыке нужна бешеная энергетика, которую Алина передает настолько страстно, аж через экран чувствую. Каждый раз смотрю, и вся в напряжении, хотя ведь знаю, что откатала идеально!

Looking back at it Kaori should have ended up in 2nd after this, or at the least in the top 3. The quality of all her elements as well as skating skills was, and still is, quite literally unmatched. I'm so glad she is now getting her flowers.
I loved Kaetlyn's Edith Piaf performance! A skate to remember. I wish her a very happy retirement!!

@@Rei-go4hw She took the 2018-19 season off and then she made the decision to retire in May 2019. I believe she said she was done with competitive skating. She's been doing ice shows since the 2018 Worlds.
Osmond had a better programme than evgenia.

the commentators for the ladies figure skating programme are really different compared to the other programme i watched. really nice to hear, especially when they comment about "bad" scores or failed techniques: very critical, but also sounding almost like supportive parents, lol. like the comment they made about anita oestlund, really gave the vibe of, "well, yeah, you didnt make it this time, but you did your best and theres always a next time!" love that, haha.

The judges did Katelyn dirty. Her score should have been higher. Still please with Alina winning, but she short program scores between her and Evgenia will always be debatable.
For that music and choreography alone Alina deserved first place, one of the most creative and cinematic short programs I've ever seen. It's magical!
But Zhenya has more personality, creativity and uniqueness to her skating, she's such an artist, tough call.

Особенно учитывая что ЕМ сама отказалась от работы с Даниилом, тк посчитала, что ей нужен более "звездный" хореограф, чем штатный Хрустального. Скорее всего точнее это ее мама так "велела". Конечно Дане было приятно что его работы выиграли, да и честно, короткая программа просто роскошная - за счет именно ее Алина и выиграла

OMG Alina's sp! Finally!
Everyone is talking about Alina's black swan SP but Evgenia Medvedeva's SP @ 3:26:35 to Chopin's Nocturne is probably my favorite skate of all time. I know that's controversial, but I adore it because it's so delicate. She moves like water and is lithe and yet soft in her movements. Skating can be a really harsh and fast sport but none of that is apparent in that skate. Her timing to the music is perfect and the executions of the moves are all so smooth. It's artistry and I love it so much.
It is difficult to project in allegro tempi movement compared to andante. I do love both approaches, but there were MANY who had poor choreography, which separate issue held them back.
As you will have seen by now, increased expression and musicality, two separate components of dance, ARE occurring in figure skating.
The fishin' pole training assist apparatus is helping accurate rotation for quads in the young. Previously the skill in rotational jumps was a matter of repeat over years until "pilot-induced error"is obviated by secure heuristic predictive skill - and consequent final zen comfort.
