I changed my mind about this game, I didn't like the controlls and the dodging at first but as I continued playing I got more used to it. The progression in this game is so well done and the atmosphere alone is 10/10!!! The level design and sound is just awesome, I really think people will appreciate it more as time goes on, this game will age like fine wine.
I love the Callisto Protocol. I don’t compare it to Dead Space. I see it as a brutal and awesome experience on its own. One of my favorites to come out this year as a horror game fan.
Try buying the game twice on a sale if you play on ps4 or ps5 or PC it will help with the sales. I bought the digitally on Ps4 and planning on getting the physical copy later when I get a ps5.
Yeah I hope not I'd love to see much more of this games universe and I hope that it will go that way. Just because of some bad reviews I don't wanna see the franchise disappear, I could definitely see having a second game at the very least would be amazing.
Bad game. You fight the same boss 4 times in 1 hour with the same Mediocore combat, and it's just repetitive. Can simps stop calling this game good when it's just bad.
@@crash4267 I think the issue is that many here seem to be autistic or just low IQ. They lack the understanding why it's a bad game, despite many videos have explained in detail what are the issues with the game.
I was in the same mindset you were about an hour into the game....comparing it to dead space, getting frustrated over the combat, etc... Then I took a step back, figured out how the combat actually works. As opposed to how I thought it should, and I haven't put the game down since. I absolutely love it despite my personal gripes with a few things. Playing on maximum security difficulty for reference, I give this game an 8.5 out of 10. To me, the game does an excellent job of always making you feel like you've got JUST enough resources to make it to the next chapter.
Once I heard that it was melee oriented for those who had the chance to play the preview, my mindset changed. I got more excited thinking that "OH I GET TO HAND FIGHT THESE MONSTERS." I love Dead Space but the melee combat always disappointed me because i knew how satisfying it could have been if focused on more. So far i'm like 3-4 hours in and having a blast
Agree, although idk if I'm just searching too hard or what but I'm overflowing on resources about halfway through the game lmao. I decided not to craft the skunk gun so I could prioritize my handgun more and because I dont have the inventory space to carry ammo for two guns. Been dropping batteries even though you can't craft them, the fact they're worth 10 credits to sell is wack.
It's easily my game of the year, I feel bad for Glen, the man must be having a rough week, same goes for the rest of the team. I'd rather have a solid 8 - 12 hours than another 60 open world snooze fest.
Lol, I'd rather pay for a better made, bug free game with an interesting combat system, unique story, and enemies. It goes without saying that the Calisto protocol was anything but these things. It's a forgetable, lazy, uninspired mess of a game that was missing essential features for a survival horror/action game. Dead space remake is where it's at now.
I played it and the 6 - 10 hours didn't feel solid. The performance was poor, the melee combat was too simplistic, the game wasn't actually scary, etc.
Oh, poor Glen. He took millions of dollars for releasing a game that he KNEW was BROKEN without ever mentioning it won’t work on your PC. But, we’re all dumb enough to say, “Oh they’ll patch the bugs that get the loudest complaints at some point down the road,” and accept that as, “NORMAL”??? WTF is WRONG with you people!? It’s people like you who made companies like CDPR a thing. It’s like you have battered wife syndrome! For 70 bucks this game should be FLAWLESS on all consoles and PC’s from the day of launch! Forget the lame story, plot holes, rinse-&-repeat baddies, frustration of being locked into animations instead of being able to pick your enemy and strategise about how to defeat them. Sure, it looks great (when it works) the acting is perfect and the sound design deserves awards. But it’s not, “scary,” after the third or fourth time you face the same villains and get locked into the same animations, let alone the 20th! Poor Glen. He’s laughing all the way to the bank, while you scream at your computer because the stuttering gets you killed every 5 seconds. Come ohhhn people!? It’s fine to disagree about art, but DON’T invite these companies to abuse the rest of us!? STOP PRE ORDERING GAMES! Buy them when they’re FINISHED. NOT BEFORE! And show some solidarity with people who use platforms different to yours. You should be thankful that they have to compete with each other to keep value for money a thing. Games should work for EVERYONE or we don’t buy them. But, hey . . . That’s just me. 🤷♂️
It’s a great game man. People just sucked at it and complained about the combat. they don’t know how to be versatile with the combat thinking it’s only turned based when it really isn’t. You can interrupt them by shooting them or using the grp or by blocking with the upgrade. Solid 1st game for the studios 1st project. They will only build off of this and create a masterpiece sequel 😎🤙🏽
Let us hope all the hate the Callisto Protocol is getting doesn't kill its future. I like the game and see it has potential. People keep trying to compare it to be the next Dead Space series, and yadda yadda. And that is the issue. They wanted it to be Dead Space. It is inspired, but it is not Dead Space. Again, let us hope the games future is not killed by critics and influencers who want a game to be their perfect little thing.
Not having new game plus kinda hurt it. Idk why they’re releasing it as a dlc. They should’ve added more melee weapons, skins, faster sprint, jump button, and better dodging/dodge button. I still loved it though
Yeah you’re right, it’s not dead space, yet it literally makes major plot choices that is the exact same as dead space and even then the combat feels soft and is carried completely by graphics and semi-decent voice acting
Playing on PS5, the raytracing 30 fps mode is incredible. Not sure if this is the well implemented motion blur, pretty sure it has something to do with it though. Started in 60 fps, then switched and am loving the visuals. Even on my LG CX OLED, the raytraced 30 fps mode runs great and looks amazing. Wasn't expecting anymore from this game, and am very happy I purchased this day one.
@@phantombigboss8429 so I turned off motion blur, and your right. It feels extremely smooth for 30fps. Honestly, kinda blowing my mind. I’m still going to keep it in though ‘cause I like how it makes certain elements of the game look. This is coming from someone who typically does not like motion blur. I do feel this game nailed it though.
Game is awesome, play it for yourself and see if it’s for you. It has similarities as dead space such as the atmosphere and environment but combat is much deeper and up close. Don’t worry, you will upgrade and unlock more weapons later. It’s cool mixing up melee combat with gunplay. Don’t forget to use your environment to effectively combat enemies. 8.5/10 for me and hope there is more story dlc coming soon. Atleast an extra 5 - 6hr extra story to hold us over till the sequel.
Glad it worked for you, I just didn’t care for the game. I didn’t find the game “scary”. It relies too heavily on jump scares. Dead space had much better atmosphere. I thought the story was weak and really only picked up at the end.
Glad to see some finally appreciate the game. Had very high hopes for this one and everyone was making me doubt it. Feel like I'm going to feel the same why about it as you did. Looking forward to it.
This game is all that and a bag of chips from start to finish feels like a movie game there's bot that many words to describe it expect incredible 👌 👏🏽 some advice focus on upgrading the melee weapon u get and don't rely on shooting u will get a auto target when it's time that's when u shoot and u can use shooting as a stun other then that bash there heads in
Johannes Tafelmaier there is no problems except. That it runs on 30fps I never seen no lag it runs perfect on ps5 PC has been having issues and combat is made to distance urself and fight one or 2 enemies at a time if u get sworemed then accept ur fate and start over
You should try not to take reviews too seriously. Game reviews are an oversaturated market and tend to jump on the band wagon regarding praise or bashing.
Why do the devs deserve it? The story isn't even finished and is being milked through a season pass. They're selling fucking death animations in the season pass.
I wonder if it will run fine on Series S. By aesthetic alone, I doubt a downgrade would be noticeable at all, but I hope it is stable. Specially since I'll be buying it in some weeks, probably.
Bad game. You fight the same boss 4 times in 1 hour with the same Mediocore combat, and it's just repetitive. Can simps stop calling this game good when it's just bad.
@@crash4267 you see, people like you are what make the gaming sector toxic as hell. Your rating system is that games are either a masterpiece, or they’re trash. With you lot, there’s no in between. You’re so spoiled and unsatisfied that you don’t find things to enjoy, you find things to hate, and that’s really sad!
@@crash4267 your comment is so useless. it being written and kept here for 2 years is a stain in this state of the art comment section giving proper praise to a game - The Callisto Protocol - which got very unreasonably criticized due to unfair player expectations. also calling the combat repetitive is a proof you have skill issue (granted you even played the game) and didn't used all the tools in your arsenal to take the edge and make it varied & fun for yourself. Your not a true gamer, you're just hating on games for being what they aren't. Recognize the failure of your miserable attempt at trying to look smart by coming here without being asked, to put your sad little comment about how you think The Callisto Protocol does not deserve recognition and that everyone needs to "wake up" and start hating on it for free like you do.
How can you not compare this game to Dead Space when every single thing about it is trying so hard to be Dead Space? When even the creator himself has stated that this is what he wanted Dead Space to be? Even without the comparisons, it’s a mess. The “story” feels tacked on. Black Iron Prison isn’t memorable or explorable (especially in comparison to something like RE2’s police station). It’s linear in the most BASIC sense, with absolutely no room to turn back around or return to previously locked off areas to explore. The “stealth” mechanic is a complete joke since the game literally doesn’t allow you to use it for 90% of the game…you think you have the option to pick and choose your encounters based on the availability of your resources and volume/vulnerability of your enemy, like any basic survival horror game with a stealth mechanic? Nahhh, the game just CONSTANTLY has zombies jumping out at you in the most predictable and bland attempts at jump scares. And worse still are the zombies. There’s literally 2 types: basic zombies (which come in 3 skins…basic, security guard, and fat) and spitter zombies. You’re fighting them over and over, killing them the exact same way, for the entire game. They throw some blind ones at you for one level, then they have some crawling ones…but you know it’s sad when you have to fight the exact same mini-boss zombie FOUR times. They literally could not come up with anything else. It’s worsened by how terrible the combat system is. One on one it’s pretty decent. The problem is that it breaks after 2 or more enemies, and the game is constantly throwing multiple at you at once. Your deaths don’t feel deserved or even scary…they’re just cheap and frustrating, having to wrestle with a camera that you can’t move while fighting enemies you can’t target or switch between. Nothing about this game is scary or feels remotely close to survival horror. The zombies are spongy and arcade-like. If you look too hard at the environment, you laugh (if you spot a fire anywhere it can’t burn you and its flames are literally 2D). You crawl through a vent, wiggle through some pipes, fight a group of zombies, meet a character, get set back, crawl through a vent again, wiggle through some pipes, and repeat everything else. It’s the exact same formula for the entire game. Callisto Protocol should’ve been advertised as an indie action game for $30, not a “Next Gen Triple-A Survival Horror from the Creators of Dead Space” for $70.
Dude, imagine if this game was designed more like an immersive sim like Deus Ex, Dishonored, and Prey in terms of level design. Making Black Iron Prison a giant interconnected complex of cell blocks, maintenance passages, hallways, walkways, and vents. Coupled with incentivizing stealth more by making enemies actually tough to engage in melee even on 1v1 and making them roam around looking for people to kill rather than spawn in scripted arena fights. Would've been an easy 8/10 survival horror game just from the mechanics alone.
@@DJWeapon8 Right off the bat your idea sounds like something that would actually scare me. I was personally hoping that Black Iron would be something like the RE2 police station in terms of design, with a central safe hub area and a bunch of other explorable areas which branched out from it. Maybe even take notes from the Sevastopol Station of Alien: Isolation. Having inmates actually walk around that can kill you or be killed by what’s hunting you. And imagine if the zombies were drawn in by sound, not only giving you the option of stealth or guns-blazing, but also the option to create tactical opportunities to use those zombies to kill prisoners for you. And the prison robots? I was personally hoping they’d function something like Mr. X or Nemesis. There could’ve just been a single unit that was dead-set on hunting us down, and as the game progressed it either got stronger or weaker.
@@6ixlxrd The central safe hub area is also an idea I suggested in some other channel's video. A place where Jacob, Elias, and Dani can regroup to once they finished their tasks to plan the next step in their escape. I also suggested that we get 2 chapters of just letting us explore BIP as Jacob being an inmate before the biophage outbreak. This would help with the sorely lacking character development of Jacob, Elias, and Dani and give us a preview of the fundamental level design mechanics of the game. Your idea of using the enemies' detection system to your advantage to either ambush or draw them away from an area is INSPIRED, man.
Solid review - exactly how I feel! The story gives me OG RE vibes - characters get trapped in a location, they find weird shit along the way and discover there’s a large entity at play (Umbrella). CP has just as much potential as what OG RE showed.
For sure I was going to do a review myself but don’t have a following. I feel like it’s a great game that got sold short. I have my gripes but it’s not as bad as they make it out to be. I’m still playing it I completely enjoyed my time. Combat is smooth and you can keep enemies at a distance. Great review
9.5/10 GAME the best game for me in 2023 why People you want other people to tell you what is good and what is bad;;;;this game is more enjoyable Than DEAD SPASE on PS5...
This game was awesome! This is dead space with a little more action and a little less horror but A LOT more brutality! It was so awesome to smash enemies heads in with the stun baton! I hardly used the gun. I only used the gun with the big enimies that split in two..awesome game...hardly no cut scenes! All game play and no dumb , unnecessary side missions!
@PositiveEnergy Dude it's definitely not action like R.E 6. It's not survival horror like alien isolation either..dude it's pretty much dead space with way more blood and way way more satisfying kill scenes..buy it used at game stop u got 7 days to return it if u don't like it .if u like dead space then u will like it
Finally! Someone who gets it! I also love this game! I wish I understood what the mainstream gaming media are thinking with the criticism they are throwing this game’s way.
You are basically rooted in place when you face an opponent. If you face more then one you are basically defenseless against the ones you are not fighting. You can't move out of harms way, strategize or regroup. These are major mechanical flaws because this is 2022 not 2014.
So you just want to be able to fight everything with no difficulty at all, ok so go on easy and turn on all the accesibility options so you just move forward and press rt.
I hated this game on day one (because of the crashes) but after finishing the game twice (second time with mods) i kinda want to play it again when new game plus comes out February
They are wrong. I love this game . Immensely fun. Only gripes. A little longer and more variety in bosses and enemies and more set piece moments. But overall love it
@@newhope33 what's a masterpiece to you? Name something that isn't dead space you can't it's been like a decade this genre gets no love I'd rather play this than play some woke ish like tlou
I think the bad scores stem from the bad first impressions on pc and xbox and the fact that 99%of people will jump on the bandwagon because they dont know how to think for themselves
I'm glad someone finally is giving this a good review. I loved the game its just different and people compared it wayyyyy to much to others. They need to enjoy it for it's own thing
Playing it now. It’s just as good as Dead Space Remake. I only say that because everyone seems so determined to compare the two. Ok, I’ll compare the two: One has great melee with OK shooting (Callisto), and one has great shooting with bad melee (Dead Space). Both are an 8.5 out of ten.
imo Dead Space Remake is better, but I'm glad to see you enjoyed both so much. I personally don't find Callisto Protocol to be astronomically behind the game in terms of quality. both scratch a similar itch really well.
DS has better enemy variety richer lore and better boss battle set pieces like that hallway tentacle...then theres the leviathan etc... very memorable...i wish they made better/more bosses for callisto too because i absolutely loved that freaky ass all 4 human thing that turned invisible... fucked me up.. but the bosses left a lil more to be desired... callisto had good set pieces too like that sewers one and the falling set piece... but they did not include memorable bosses... would love to see that big alien thing in the underwater section in DLC❤
My thoughts exactly! I absolutely love this game and I also think it’s set up perfectly for prequels/sequels, books, movies etc. There is a lot to this story.
The only complaint I really had with it is the dodge is kinda weird and for the fact that new death animations are behind a dlc. I mean it's not a bad game like all those reviewers were saying. The pc version was pretty bad at launch though.
I am indeed, the master of Kalisto protocol. I got up to level 67 in hoard mode with over 1,900,000 points secure me one of the top spots ever. The final transmission DLC was also great I will never delete this game from my library, it’s one of the best games ever made especially as a survival horror for adults. The only people complaining about this game are children and people that want to play Fortnite and review this game because they have a shit channel like Jacksepticeye.
Played this day one on XBSX and I had an absolute blast playing it without any problems whatsoever it's a very cool game loved it 9/10 for me dyslexic font was nice to have for once too. playing now on maximum security. I can't find the problems others are complaining about I honestly just think some people suck.
The game is mid at best. People who say it's their GOTY are way too easily satisfied and I personally just don't take those type of people serious when it comes to video games. Callisto Protocal's biggest flaw is it's biggest gameplay aspect, that being it's melee combat. It's too clunky, it's not difficult at all on paper and it's way too 1 dimensional. There was alot of amateur dev vibes going on in this game despite Glen being at the forefront. Quite honestly this game would've served better as a Immsim like Alien: Isolation or something. In any case they got the criticism it deserved and the flaws can easily be fixed in a sequel so, we'll just have to see next time. All in all, calling this game garbage or Goty worthy are both outta pocket, but mid is acceptable for a mid game.
I think like dead space 1, the foundation for improvement is there. And i really loved this game. Cant wait to see if they make a callisto protocol 2 in the future and see the improvements they make.
Yea bro callisto protocol is getting hate so much that I feel so many people are missing out because of reviewers that's giving it very low scores. This game is amazing and sadly it won't get a sequel. just because it's dismissive rushed hate reviewers giving low scores.
I love this game man going on maximum security now fucking awesome the combat is awesome I even like the story solid opening to build on hope we get a sequel
This review right here is the most honest review I’ve come across for this game. Thank you. I’m glad I gave it a chance, cause damn did I have a good time with it. It sucks that so many people aren’t gonna give it a chance cause of how overly critical so many reviewers have been with it.
I am so freaking confused about this whole situation. This game is one of the only few that I had been crazy excited about for a while b4 release that delivered. I absolutely love this game!
I love it too but I only have ONE gripe with it… it’s not really a survival horror but feels like a survival action. But other than that I do love this game!
I agree it definitely met my expectations. I knew Glen and Steve would deliver. I’m on my second run and enjoying it even more because my first run was a lot of trial and error. Now it’s like playing an awesome sci fi movie.
Glad to see people apprexiate this game for what It is Just feel bad that Glen Schofiled put his heart and soul into this game and people are bashing it alot I enjoyed the hell out of this game, currently on my second playthroguh
My issue is that I didn’t find it as scary as I and many expected it to be. Especially when you the studio going around on RUclips with a series called “Mastering Horror” and you get a game that startles you at times.
I love this video man. I probably will play this game again with some type of a challenge. This video makes me appreciate this game more and I'm excited to play it again.😁
I had the exact same experience with the game, once I got the combat down after the initial hour or so I was actually having the most fun with a combat system I've had in a while. Super satisfying when you string together a slick melee and 'gun fu' combo followed by a smart grp throw taking out the last enemy. Definitely think the critics messed up on this one, it's not perfect and could do with less attempted jump scares but it was an absolute blast to play through 8/10 easy when NG+ is added.
6/10 I wasn't scared, combat was too repetitive, story was average, characters were uninteresting. About the only positives I have are the graphics and sound design
It is a great game. Highly recommended. The whole atmosphere of the game is top-notch. The graphics are absolutely insane, very similar to an alien movie, and the audio complements the action very well. I also like the closer third person camera it feels very immersive. I also like how the main character turns once in a while, depending of what it is happening to bring you in. I am playing it on a 65 inch Hisense TV and a Samsung hw-q950a soundbar.
Honestly, my only real complaint is that there isn't more of it. There are sections/set pieces of the game that I just wish went on for a little longer. Sure there are weird check points/saves, wonky audiologs, and a bare-bone photo mode, but as whole, I loved the experience. I didn't find the combat to get boring at all, actually I enjoyed it quite a bit. The argument that it's not scary does have some weight to it, but nearing the end of the game, the tension spikes and the real beauty of this game shines through.
You legit said said this game is not survival horror and the very next sentence you also said they trying to make they “own survival horror” that statement don’t work just like this game doesn’t. If marketing simply said this was a new “condemned” instead of the next “dead space” expectations would not have been so high.
Exactly. Look at the marketing, they literally tried to hide the fact that its mainly a melee brawler. They then had a review embargo to stop people from learning the truth. Then you get the defenders in these comments, who were happy to be duped, wondering why it got negative reviews.
Bro, how can you name drop games like RE2 and consider this a survival horror game. You can literally buy ammo and combat is unavoidable. The lack of depth in the melee system makes every enemy easily defeatable too. The whole point of survival horror is the powerless feeling coupled with being surrounded by enemies and not having the resources to deal with them all. It makes any decision to take them out a strategic choice that drains resources. It's why ammo drops from dead enemies doesn't align with the survival moniker. Your reward from succeeding in an encounter is having less enemies to deal with when exploring. Given how linear this game is though, exploration doesn't really exist.
People just can't untether this from Dead Space. This game is great! Major Reviewers are becoming so unreliable. 9 out of 10 for me. Fingers crossed for a sequel.
@KGTv that's unfortunate but I didn't experience those issues. Controls were different but nothing I couldn't get used to and I didn't have any save issues other than having to resort my inventory at times.
@@KGTv123 the saving thing has annoyed me a couple times but I got over my issues with the controls/ combat by practicing. Went from a shabby chump getting wrecked to a ruthless killing machine. It’s all about your approach to combat encounters.
@@goobermagoob9160 I tried again and eventually got past the part that I was stuck at and had to keep upgrading and stuff like that. I think if they fixed the saving and made some sort of lock on system in the combat, the reviews of the game would change almost completely. It’s a shame that those negatives are overshadowing the things that the game actually does right.
@@Jack_Crenshaw I am playing it on PS4Pro and the graphics aren't that stellar there, yet the game, despite being glitcher than the PS5 edition, still holds up for me. It is exactly what I expected based on the videos I saw.
This game should of been nominated for anything it is amazing and they need to be given some credit and it is a complete introduction into there take on horror game I like it I give it a 10/10 and perfect cliff hanger leaving the player wanting more
Great review, stopped half-way since I didn't want much more spoiled (I knew you warned us but the video is very well put together so I had to watch some more) but once i finish the game myself, i'm going to finish the rest. Great review so far! subscribed!
@@minstora Hmm. Respect for putting out a vid in defence of this, but got to say I feel you are 100% wrong personally where Callisto Protocol is concerned. Hum drum story. Mike Tyson Punch Out style combat mechanics. Shocking hit box and invulnerability frames. Dreadful PC performance, even post patches. Oh, and a scummy review embargo so they ensured those gullible enough to pre-order at top dollar didnt refund. You being supportive and applauding drivel like this is a large part of why the games industry has been in massive decline over the past decade. If your expectations have been beaten down to such a low level, in that you genuinely feel this is acceptable then you have my sympathy Sir 🙏
im happy that i didnt listen to the haters. i played it on ps5 and im loving it. i do have some issues thou, like some of the checkpoints could be looked at, or making the stun baton useless against the bosses (i wasnt able to bring the 2 head down on it knees with the baton, because i couldnt even hit the boss). also the secondary firemode for the riot gun felt a bit strange. fighting against the first 2 head i ran out of ammo using the 2nd firemode, but with just using the normal firemode i was able to kill it with lots of leftover ammo.
Loved the game. For the first time, melee combat in a horror was tense and panic inducing, and not because of breakable weapons or bad mechanics. When you get the rhythm and pattern, it's quite awesome and brutal. I was disappointed with a lot of reviewers on RUclips, that I respect, because they are always nostalgic about old survivor horror games and when they get a game like Callisto, they moan. There were people even upset because you go through holes on the wall! It's like being upset playing SH because you walk through the doors you can open! P.s.: I just subscribed to your channel 🤘🏽
I bought this game last week from walmart for 20 buck and I agree this game is great. What are these reviewers of this game that gave it a bad rap been smoking?
I fully agree with your entire review! For me, I never played dead space ( I do play lots of survival horror but I never played DS) so I didn’t have this comparison, I love how the combat works, most games either have a dodge roll or no real close Combat ( resident evil 2 and 3 remakes for example) I really enjoyed it. Things I found annoying : The amount of crawl spaces that take forever Optional areas that are locked out easily without a way back ( and no was to tell you it’s optional ) Bugs: especially GRP related, i frames for enemies, enemies who’s foot touched a fence during a GRP push, and they entire body falls like they hit a wall.
The more negative reviews already summed up how I expected this game to turn out. Solid linear horror experience with some heavy melee combat, decent acting and an okay enough story to go with it, and that's glossing over some smaller features. I've yet to upgrade to a PS5 due to my finances ATM, though after reading some recent patch notes and viewing an in depth tech analysis, I'll happily pick it up for my PS4 for Xmas :)
Im not going to lie.....i have been eyeballing this and alot of the outlets have been saying odd negatives...like its okay to just have a old school video game. I am downloading now and cant wait to play it. Take my subscibe!
Don't get frustrated early in the game, combat gets so much better later when you have many tools which allow you to avoid fighting multiple enemies at once. And HOLD to dodge (on PC), then it's quite easy :)
I'm pretty sure that all these other reviewers gave this game low scores, mostly based on the fact that they are PC fanboys and the PC port at the moment is flat our broken. DUUHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ALREADY KNEW THAT!!!!!!!!. Further than that though, if people are saying that this game is nothing like Dead Space, don't get me wrong I've never played a Dead Space game before, but having said that, I'm pretty sure they are confusing spiritual successor to direct sequel. TOTALLY different things. HOW is a spiritual successor supposed to be like a game like Dead Space? It's their own ideas. And as for 'oh this game isn't scary at all', maybe it's just me because I've never played a game like Dead Space before, but I agree with you Minstora. This game was scary as hell. But again that's just me. Short version, to me this game is NOTHING like critics are making it out to be. This game is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!. Excellent review, man and FINALLY someone that sees a game objectively for what it is. Earned a sub from me.
I love it too, didn't like it at first because I didn't get the melee. But I love it now. The graphics and animations throughout the whole game are better than most games cut scenes. This is a graphical masterpiece that happens to be a video game.
Gaming hate bandwagons are our equivalent to cancel culture. EA are probably loving this, because now the pressure has been taken off the dead space remake and they'll drag their heels with it.
Loved the video man. I think many people couldn't wrap their heads around the combat and the fact most reviewers had to rush to finish the game doesn't help bugs and so on. I've played the game since Day 1 and it's a slow burn. I've take breaks here and there because I have other things to do as well and it makes ot feel like a good show or movie. Taking a break and coming back males it feel longer than it is. I got the game for my dad and he's had lore challenge than myself yet had never blamed it on the game and usually afyer taking a breather comes back and makes it past the area. The Callisto Protocol is potentially my GOTY.
My favorite new horror game, solid 8.5 and I appreciate Glen trying new things and not just having an unreal dodge like some games or a large amount of hp. Maximum Security really let you know early on you get hit 3 or 4 times you're gonna pizza when you shoulda French fry'd.
I started playing a couple of weeks ago on hardcore mode by accident. Played half way through and was like, "damn this is brutal and how am I going to level up any weapons. Started a new playthrough last night and am happy i get to experience the equipment you get. Hardcore mode is definitely worth a playthrough though. I amps up the scary by 100
I changed my mind about this game, I didn't like the controlls and the dodging at first but as I continued playing I got more used to it.
I hope that the franchise isn’t iced due to the negative reviews. I’d love to see a sequel and see where the franchise goes!

This game is the best immersive survival horror game. It also has the best sound design by far within the genre
It's easily my game of the year, I feel bad for Glen, the man must be having a rough week, same goes for the rest of the team. I'd rather have a solid 8 - 12 hours than another 60 open world snooze fest.
Absolutely man. I love it. I rather have 8 to 9 hour fast paced linear experience then 40 to 60 hour slogfest
LOL Sure dude, sure. 🤪
I feel the same fam. The game literally gives you all the tools you need. If you get overwhelmed it’s because you didn’t use what was givin to you.

Sorry man but the Callisto protocol is not good from what I’ve seen, the combat is so easy and there’s no skill in it whatsoever
It definitely has some issues but I don’t think it deserves the beating it’s getting. It’s a cool game, already on my 3rd playthrough. It’s fun
Exactly how i feel about this game. Its great but still has some flaws.
This game is like the pandorum of games, in a couple of years people are going to be saying its an underrated gem
@@NoonMight it's a free update
@@NoonMight Most games have New game plus released later these days and sure some have it day one but its not a deal breaker for me.
Yeah you’re right, it’s not dead space, yet it literally makes major plot choices that is the exact same as dead space and even then the combat feels soft and is carried completely by graphics and semi-decent voice acting
Don't understand the negative reviews...been playing this for 3 hours and so far it's incredible.
Turn off motion blur its better that way and holds the frames.
Only my opinion, but watch fan blades spin then tell me it looks better. The motion blur is what helps this mode out.
@@iDriveAhondaCivic Yea I really don't pay attention to that looks fine to me without motion blur just my preference dealing with combat.
@@phantombigboss8429 this shouldn’t be labeled a 30fps mode because it’s simply not. 30fps is never this smooth on an OLED panel.
They already planned for more content and the quality is much better even the gore is on a different level
Glad to see some finally appreciate the game. Had very high hopes for this one and everyone was making me doubt it. Feel like I'm going to feel the same why about it as you did. Looking forward to it.
This game is all that and a bag of chips from start to finish feels like a movie game there's bot that many words to describe it expect incredible 👌 👏🏽 some advice focus on upgrading the melee weapon u get and don't rely on shooting u will get a auto target when it's time that's when u shoot and u can use shooting as a stun other then that bash there heads in
Keep coping and being blind to the problems
@@thegreatresetofthehumanrac664 What is the biggest problem in your eyes, combat?
Johannes Tafelmaier there is no problems except. That it runs on 30fps I never seen no lag it runs perfect on ps5
PC has been having issues and combat is made to distance urself and fight one or 2 enemies at a time if u get sworemed then accept ur fate and start over

This guy gets it
Dude, imagine if this game was designed more like an immersive sim like Deus Ex, Dishonored, and Prey in terms of level design.
Glad you mentioned Tormented Souls dude!!! Great game totally under appreciated

They’re EA schills. This game is a threat to the Dead Space IP that EA clearly has plans for.
You are basically rooted in place when you face an opponent. If you face more then one you are basically defenseless against the ones you are not fighting. You can't move out of harms way, strategize or regroup. These are major mechanical flaws because this is 2022 not 2014.

Once new game plus comes out in February. Just watch everyone will stop complaining and give the game a better review score.

Excellent Review man ! Just subscribed.

So happy to see this game given the credit it deserves. It’s actually pretty much everything I hoped for. Combat is great and graphics are amazing.
My issue is that I didn’t find it as scary as I and many expected it to be. Especially when you the studio going around on RUclips with a series called “Mastering Horror” and you get a game that startles you at times.

Awesome video! It’s my GOTY pick. I loved it and the potential for this Universe is massive! 🔥
Absolutely superb loved it.
Bro! You summed up my feelings perfectly. Bravo 👏
Finaly a reviewer who understand what Scofield trying to do with CProtocol, all the best!
I was ready treat it in its own light, but the controls and terrible save points make it almost unplayable.
People hated dead space at first and then became a cult classic
People hate half assed buggy games. Graphics don't make the game kiddo.
@Nonothankyou games shallow and not worth 70 dollars. Dont be dense
graphics aren't everything.
People didn't hate dead space, CP doesn't even come close to dead space in terms of gameplay.
@Tony Schmid I know it won't be as good as dead space gameplay wise but it's not ment to play like dead space because it's a game of its own
@@Jack_Crenshaw I am playing it on PS4Pro and the graphics aren't that stellar there, yet the game, despite being glitcher than the PS5 edition, still holds up for me. It is exactly what I expected based on the videos I saw.
This game should of been nominated for anything it is amazing and they need to be given some credit and it is a complete introduction into there take on horror game I like it I give it a 10/10 and perfect cliff hanger leaving the player wanting more
100% bro
Great review, stopped half-way since I didn't want much more spoiled (I knew you warned us but the video is very well put together so I had to watch some more) but once i finish the game myself, i'm going to finish the rest. Great review so far! subscribed!
I appreciate you fam!
Great video! Way more in depth than my video. Subscribed keep up the good work. 🎮
I love this game I've played through it multiple times.
The hate for this game held people back from understanding this game, because I love this game
i had an absolute blast of a time playing through this game, so i really don't understand the hate either. I't s a great game
It’s an amazing game some big channels gave it an unfair low score
Yeah the big boys on RUclips are just mad. They’ll come around eventually
im happy that i didnt listen to the haters. i played it on ps5 and im loving it.
i do have some issues thou, like some of the checkpoints could be looked at, or making the stun baton useless against the bosses (i wasnt able to bring the 2 head down on it knees with the baton, because i couldnt even hit the boss).
also the secondary firemode for the riot gun felt a bit strange. fighting against the first 2 head i ran out of ammo using the 2nd firemode, but with just using the normal firemode i was able to kill it with lots of leftover ammo.
Exactly what I was thinking this game is not that bad I actually enjoy it as its own thing.
Things I found annoying :
The amount of crawl spaces that take forever
Optional areas that are locked out easily without a way back ( and no was to tell you it’s optional )
Bugs: especially GRP related, i frames for enemies, enemies who’s foot touched a fence during a GRP push, and they entire body falls like they hit a wall.
Great content by the way, ime your new subscriber..
Thank you bro people are crazy this game is cold
Fax bro
They just need to come out with Game + ASAP!!! 🤯
I agree should have launched with the game. They definitely rushed a bit to get this out before DS remake.
Such a real review. The criticism that this game has received is a terrible oversight. Thanks for being a proper reviewer.
I couldn’t agree more! This review is SPOT ON! 💯
I love it too, didn't like it at first because I didn't get the melee. But I love it now. The graphics and animations throughout the whole game are better than most games cut scenes. This is a graphical masterpiece that happens to be a video game.
I’m playing through it right now and love it!
New generation of horror i give it 10/10
0/100
The Callisto Protocol is potentially my GOTY.
im 10hours in and I have to say I am having really fun with this game !
It is a great game and I’m glad you made video thank you.
Totally agree! This game is great! Sure, there are some things I would address but I think SD did a great job.
My favorite new horror game, solid 8.5 and I appreciate Glen trying new things and not just having an unreal dodge like some games or a large amount of hp. Maximum Security really let you know early on you get hit 3 or 4 times you're gonna pizza when you shoulda French fry'd.
😂😂
Did you try out the Resident Evil 2 Remake?
@@gebist8396 Yes and RE3R, Ready for RE4R and Dead Space Remake as well🤘
I started playing a couple of weeks ago on hardcore mode by accident. Played half way through and was like, "damn this is brutal and how am I going to level up any weapons. Started a new playthrough last night and am happy i get to experience the equipment you get. Hardcore mode is definitely worth a playthrough though. I amps up the scary by 100
