- Y'all I love a challenge, but this one bout did me in! I bit off a LOT this halloween season! Oddly enough, I THRIVE under pressure, and this was definitely fuel to my fire! The Beverly Halls are so cute, and the nicest people! so much fun collaborating with them!!!!

Tips from a puppeteer! To cut faux fur, I use a sharp razor blade/box cutter on the fabric side, and you don't get fur anywhere, because it doesn't cut the fur at all.

I was about to comment the same thing. My sister used to make teddy bears and she taught me that trick when I was helping her cut out the different pieces out of the fur fabric.

How do you do it, your not only talented but practical as well? JoAnn fabrics has awesome stuff but so WAY overpriced! A pack of three dollar beads is like ten there for the same friggin brand and size!

To keep the fur out of your seam, use painters tape. Also when cutting fur keep your vacuum handy, and vaccum each freshly cut edge before you even move it off the table. You can use extra long pins but basting is your friend.
These costumes look great! Original but recognizable!
Wizard of Oz is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE movie of all time! I'm so excited to see these costumes!!
I've made fursuits before and for fur the best way to cut it is fabric side. Like a box cutter and press only through the fabric side not all the way down through fur. Fur fabrics are definitely something you have to get used to because cutting it wrong makes the fur look really jank.
I also use scissors and make sure to bring the scissors down through the fur all the way to fabric side and then slowly cut. That also works but might be a bit more tricky for people who haven't tried furs out yet.
So CUTE! I made a twist on Poppy Troll for Halloween. Used Pink Braiding Hair and made a DIY Poppy Wig. Whipped up a dress too. Granddaughter was ADORABLE!

With the faux fur, try vacuuming the cuts after the scissors pass through but before you pick it up. No fur-magedon needed.

When painting fabric I would recomend using a mixture of acrilic and fabric medium :) ❤❤❤ your videos!

So cute! It's such a cool & modern take on the costumes 😀
You can get a bottle of fabric medium that you add to acrylic paint so that you can paint on fabric without making it stiff. I used it when I was painting on silk ties I gave as gifts one year. It also allows you to wash the items you paint.

Omg, Gunnar, The Wizard of Oz is my favorite all time movie!! I've always been fascinated by the movie!! The playroom for my grandchildren is done all in the Wizard of Oz! I painted in script, There's no place like...home, on one wall and have collected pics.
You're so talented! I never watched the show Project Runway, but found your channel and absolutely love it! My grandparents were a tailor and seamstress. I inherited no sewing talent from them, although my son is a fantastic costume maker. He makes costumes for Comic Con and makes his wife's dresses! I guess he got the talent! I tried to sew a shirt once and it looked horrible! V-neck was crooked, one sleeve longer than the other, etc etc!!
When im sewing faux fur,or fabric with fur in general,I usually put a little water only on the fur that is close to the seems so it lays the way I want it to!
I love these take on Halloween costumes coz it makes them wearable even if its not October! We really do love a challenge and you make it through with your signature style in them. Kuddos!
