If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sew, wanted access to my tutorials, or just wanted to support me, my patreon page is for you! I have a tier for everyone🖤 www.patreon.com/gunnardeatherage
This was actually going to be my Met Gala post, but had to wait a few days for technical reasons! So glad you guys are enjoying the process of watching it come together!
Gunnar, I honestly have made much fun and totally ragged on britney's denim or that time jlo did the fancy denim or the many other attempts at formal denim dresses that have been made.i mean they are really very weak in effect on any level they are measured as a design imo. Buuuut, you, totally, 100% , incredibly and beautifully KILLED IT. You completely made denim high fashion. It's gorgeous. Structurally it is phenomenal. And the movement you are able to get outta that denim! You literally smacked it and made it your bitch! I am in awe. I can only say that this denim dress is the ONLY attempt I've ever seen at high fashion denim that has been a success. Even including the Ralph Lauren attempts. And we know his ability w denim. But you. Well you made a masterpiece. A beautiful masterpiece.
This is a gown that would have fit in perfect with the American Icon theme of the Met Gala, because what is more iconically American than denim? 💙 Wasn't sure about the skirt at first, but that tulle definitely made the difference!! Love it!
I actually got to see the exhibit when it opened to the public and when you first walk in, you see quilted denim and other quilted items so it definitely would’ve worked!
As much as I love your successes, I so appreciate that you also share your mistakes with us. I was watching and thought, "Wow, so it's not just me? Even professionals make mistakes." That's an encouraging thought
Highly encouraging. As a self taught sewist, it's always amazing when your teachers show their failures so you're not frustrated feeling like you can't do it the first time, every time. Because no one really can.
They are not mistakes. They are LEARNING experiences!!! If you get something perfect on the first shot, did you ACTUALLY do that, or was it luck? I have a skirt project, that I had some problems with, and set it aside. Now I can think about how to correct it, and THEN continue. (If I can ever find the time)
Made shirt, used seam ripper to open buttonhole (thanks mom) riiippp😭 went to design school and how to do it with scissors and how to pull and break the sewing threads. The satan ripper never touched a garment ever again
Omg! Many years ago, I saw a denim ball gown in a magazine, and I fell in love with it. Everyone that I showed it to was like “eh”. Finally, someone who understands!!🥰 I also love your cat 🐱
That turned out so good!! You inspired me so much, I'm still learning about designing tho but your creativity is just, I don't even know what to say, keep on going!
Can you create a Anastasia inspired gown with a tutorial? I've been wanting to try and make it and don't have any good tutorials. Your dresses look fabulous 👌
The dress is really lovely, but I would have loved to have seen more of the bodice detail on the finished garment, especially the waistband / belt that you toiled over.
I have never actually wanted to own a denim dress before. This might be my favorite thing you've done! My little girl says she would wear it everyday if she had one. Great job! :)
You are who, in my mind, if I learned to sew, I would be. I dream up stuff all the time but can't do the output. I love, love, love your creativity. Thank you so much for sharing yourself with us.
Loved your denim ball gown. Fabulous. Takes me back to a great dress I had in the late 80s. It was a terrific statement then. Your grandpa 70s pants and top was a trip down memory lane and you wear it well.
Suggestion: I had problems in the past gathering heavy fabric. I had better success and control using a narrow zig zag over a cotton cord, just inside the seam allowance. Just be sure the zig zag is wide enough that the cord moves freely through it. Cord usually easily removed after seams are stitched. Love your creative energy!
This dress is grand. It is simple but grand. It takes my breath away. You are so very talented. I am 65 years old and I have worked in the clothing business my entire life, and you have it sweetheart.❤ Never loose the person that you are.
It’s always a challenge to work with a material you’re not used to….. and seam-ripping just has to happen apparently But it came out sooooo classy and gorgeous, so definitely worth ittt
You just always amaze Gunnar......always.....nothing that l cannot help but watch you and your creations. Just like what you've said...l love you...just love your person....an artist....an excellent designer!!!!!THANK YOU ALWAYS ❤!!!
This has got to be my very favourite vid from you. Love the dress, love the design. Love theinspirqtion (Brit). Video made me laugh... your little friend... and gritting out the "flat and beautiful" part. Right down to the "i love you" section.. giving the vid 10 thumbs up. ❤
Beautiful dress. I made a patchwork jean skirt in highschool. It had a train and lots of hidden pockets. I think it might still be in my grandma's house. 😍
Hi I’ve just found your channel & I’m loving it, my mums trade was dressmaking so when I was younger I picked up a lot off her & would make all my own clothes it’s great as you can make things no one else has, I haven’t sewn for years now but was bought a new machine for my birthday last year but it hasn’t come out the box yet, I really want to get back into sewing . I think watching you may give me the push I need, great videos
I came across your TickTock videos and decided to see what your RUclips videos were like, I like them as well. You have been given an awesome gift and talent for design and sewing.
Your gown should have been at the Met Gala it's so well made and it fit the curriculum better than some if the other crap that was on, this baby is AMERICANA.
Hi Gunnar, I'm new to ur channel but seriously I really wish I could have found u before🥺, like u look so sweet and always put a smile on my face☺️, and u r soo talented. Anyway, love from a stranger 💖.
That dress is fabulous and up with my other favourite pieces that you made.. The Harry Potter jacket.. The leather jacket were up top and both would go with the dress in my opinion ❤
"I just sewed the belt in the wrong place" you have no idea how much it warms my heart to hear someone with your skills say that. I'm hand sewing a skirt I redesigned and after sewing in the pockets and flat felling all my seams (by hand) I discovered I inserted one of the pockets in the wrong place. The urge to cry and throw in the towel is so strong but I have my adult pants on so im going to suck it up, learn from it and move one. I will have an emotional support vodka later when I'm done.
Loved the dress. I have always loved denim dress or shirt but nothing would perfectly fit me. They would mostly be tight under the arms and huge down in the waist area. I have bought a yard of light wash denim fabric to make that top myself that I really wanted but didn’t have any inspirations, but after watching your video I can say that I have already come up with some designs. So thank you for inspiring us rookie self taught fashion designers.
I just LUV LUV LUV watching you & your amazing talents flow. But the best part is your soothing voice that I now listen while falling asleep. TOP FAN HERE :)
Gunnar, that is stunning. As a woman with bit of edge style preferences. I would made the bodice from velvet for a drama or tartan for my wedding. However who cares your work is impressive. Love it
You never cease to amaze me!!! That dress is sooooo cool! I love it! Only thing is that we big busted girls would NEVER be able to hold that up in place with a skirt that heavy!🤣🤣🤣💚💙💜
That came out BEAUTIFULLY! I would have made it just a hair shorter though. I just don't like when dresses are actually dragging on the ground. Other than that, I LOVE IT!!!
Not a fan of denim skirts let alone denim dresses/gowns. Can't believe what you did! The choice of deep dark denim for the bodice total game changer! Your denim gown game is beyond anyone else's! No playing-just artistry.
Amazing video! Look your draping skills! I had this prompt idea for your future video! Avant-garde look with face mask!? Or simply how to measure a person’s face to draft a custom mask!?
Wow! Fabulous job! Not going to lie I didn’t think I was going to like it but you did so good! It’s gorgeous! The fit makes the garment look high end! Great job! Keep up the good work!
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sew, wanted access to my tutorials, or just wanted to support me, my patreon page is for you! I have a tier for everyone🖤 www.patreon.com/gunnardeatherage
I've been inspired by you to do things or make dresses at a young age like I am right now also I love your videos and what you make❤️❤️🤓🤩😄
Do you also teach how to construct custom face masks?
You are truly Blessed and Amazing.
♥️🌟♥️
Can you make a pink masquerade ball gown please Gunner
Hi love from India I like your videos
This was actually going to be my Met Gala post, but had to wait a few days for technical reasons! So glad you guys are enjoying the process of watching it come together!
What do you do with all your dresses? Do you sell them or donate them?
This met gala is coming soon realy your designing for 2022 met gala 🧐😮😱
💯% 👍🏻 YES BABY 👏🏻 YES 👍🏻
Gunnar, I honestly have made much fun and totally ragged on britney's denim or that time jlo did the fancy denim or the many other attempts at formal denim dresses that have been made.i mean they are really very weak in effect on any level they are measured as a design imo. So glad you had a model, loved watching the skirt move 💙
This is a gown that would have fit in perfect with the American Icon theme of the Met Gala, because what is more iconically American than denim? 💙 Wasn't sure about the skirt at first, but that tulle definitely made the difference!! Love it!
Lupita Nyong'o wore a denim-jeans dress in the 2021 met gala
I actually got to see the exhibit when it opened to the public and when you first walk in, you see quilted denim and other quilted items so it definitely would’ve worked!
I thought the exact same thing when I saw his creation! This dress needed to be at the Met Gala!
I thought the same thing. Love everything Gunner makes.
I just love you and everything you touch. The end. Love from England xxx
I am so bad.... it made me laugh, feel quilty now even if back to watch this video again & again.... 🙈
They are not mistakes. They are LEARNING experiences!!!
If you get something perfect on the first shot, did you ACTUALLY do that, or was it luck? I have a skirt project, that I had some problems with, and set it aside. Now I can think about how to correct it, and THEN continue. (If I can ever find the time)
SO true. You are a fab creator.
Yes and I was flabbergasted to realize that as moms can make mistakes too. I really must have had my mother on such a pedestal.
You’re a textiles magician. It’s actually mind blowing how you’re able to create such art relative to such a short amount of time.
The seam ripping section slayed me it was so relatable 😭✌🏽
Made shirt, used seam ripper to open buttonhole (thanks mom) riiippp😭 went to design school and how to do it with scissors and how to pull and break the sewing threads. The satan ripper never touched a garment ever again
I own 2 quik-un-picks, if that tells you anything. Definitely relatable.....
Definitely can relate to ripping out.....
Omg! Many years ago, I saw a denim ball gown in a magazine, and I fell in love with it. Everyone that I showed it to was like “eh”. Finally, someone who understands!!🥰 I also love your cat 🐱
This is actually gorgeous. And Gunnar, you are just adorable and vibrant. Love your videos and creations!
That turned out so good!! You inspired me so much, I'm still learning about designing tho but your creativity is just, I don't even know what to say, keep on going!
Pretty awesome how adding the voluminous petticoat really brings the skirt to life! Also, seamripping is sewing life!! I feel your pain!
OMG honestly that gown is so beautiful and wearable. The way it moves when she walks 😍😍😍😍
Can you create a Anastasia inspired gown with a tutorial? I've been wanting to try and make it and don't have any good tutorials. Your dresses look fabulous 👌
Oh the blue dress with the gloves or her formal ball gown? Both are stunning!
THIS LOOKS SO GOOD GUNNAR!! 😍👏🏻👏🏻 You are truly so skilled and talented, thank you for sharing your amazing content!
Your denim gown was definitely ultra classy and didn’t have the patchwork quality of the others. Red carpet worthy!!!
The dress is really lovely, but I would have loved to have seen more of the bodice detail on the finished garment, especially the waistband / belt that you toiled over.
I 💘 it! I'm so glad you made the top figure hugging down to that amazing full skirt!!
I 💘 💘 💘 this dress!!! The fitted bodice & full skirt! Dark on top & light on bottom-just hit the spot! 😍😍😍
That was taking casual denim to a whole new level. Loved it and the flow for such a heavy fabric, is amazing!!
Denim done right! OMFG I WANT THIS!!!
Absolutely breath taking. What a gorgeous gown!
Oh my the sad seam ripping bit is such a mood 🤣. Been there too many times 😥
Wow! Your interpretation of the denim dress is beautiful: great balance with the dark upper part and lighter blue in the skirt.
Absolutely stunning. I am in love. Your talent and skill and eye for beautiful creations and design just amaze me. Love this so much.
Cooool! A video that isn’t a short! Love to see the personality behind the fashionista.
This dress is grand. It is simple but grand. It takes my breath away. You are so very talented. I am 65 years old and I have worked in the clothing business my entire life, and you have it sweetheart.❤ Never loose the person that you are.
What an exciting experience to enjoy the creativity and the thrifty shopping turn out a fantastic product.
well done. the flow of the skirt makes the waist look even tinier
I haven't seen the end reveal as I write this, you are fantastic, showing your human side, very relatable. Love your work Gunnar. Beautiful
I'm new to the sewing machine, and, I agree, the seam ripper is definitely my best friend.
It’s always a challenge to work with a material you’re not used to….. and seam-ripping just has to happen apparently
But it came out sooooo classy and gorgeous, so definitely worth ittt
WOW ! The denim dress turned out beautifully! This is the most sophisticated, sculptural and elegant dress I've seen from all your creations!! :))
I enjoy your happiness. I am a 70 yr old lady with an incurable disease. Watching you makes me smile. Love your creations. Thank you.❤
You just always amaze Gunnar......always.....nothing that l cannot help but watch you and your creations. Just like what you've said...l love you...just love your person....an artist....an excellent designer!!!!!THANK YOU ALWAYS ❤!!!
You’ve made my day!!!
You're the bee's knees! Love your stylishly comprehensive and creative presentation!😊
Everything you create is a whole vibe. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow what an incredible dress. You are a master seamstress. I love your all your cool sewing machines.
Once AGAIN, you’ve created a masterpiece! Love, love, love!
Omg that is in the style of a dress I have in mind but I never would have thought of making a denim dress I LOVE IT!!!
Gunnar - you never cease to amaze me. The gown is stunning. I look forward to all of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. 💕💕
Pretty awesome!! Would never have thought of a dress like this out of denim. You did a great job. It is beautiful.
Love the contest from the bodice to the skirt, which looks a little heavy but definitely worth it. Awesome and unique.
lol "I'm always in pain" while smiling. what a mood XD
Lollllll
Absolutely love it. What you did underneath the skirt really made the dress. 💓
I came across your TickTock videos and decided to see what your RUclips videos were like, I like them as well. You have been given an awesome gift and talent for design and sewing.
You do beautiful work. I love to watch the process. It is an art project from beginning to end.
Wow. Woooow! It's gorgeous. That bodice is everything. That model looks snatched! I wish you had been able to do this for the Met Gala
Wow! I would wear that! It's the best/most beautiful from the ones you mentioned!
OMG....I WANT THAT DRESS...you definitely elevated the original look....bravo👏👏👏👏👏
Your gown should have been at the Met Gala it's so well made and it fit the curriculum better than some if the other crap that was on, this baby is AMERICANA.
Love the roller vignette
I’ve been a fan of yours since Project Runway. You’re very imaginative and creatively designer with very great taste. Keep up showing your designs.
Seam ripping..ugg... in the end.. Gorgeous!! Diggin the weights and rings too!
The best denim dress 👗 I ever saw. Your outdid them all!
I loved when you talked about your grandma. Mine was going to teach me how to sew but she doesn't remember who I am most days.
Thank you for finally letting your full personality shine through in this one, so refreshing
Hi Gunnar, I'm new to ur channel but seriously I really wish I could have found u before🥺, like u look so sweet and always put a smile on my face☺️, and u r soo talented. Anyway, love from a stranger 💖.
I love this dress!!!😊😊😊 The petticoat made a big difference!
Your videos literally keeps me persisting on my sewing projects. The back pain part is so true now I’m considering a foam roller myself
This was better than watching a lifetime movie! The drama, the pain, the happy ending. LOVE it all! Even the little skillshare mini commercial. ❤️
That dress is fabulous and up with my other favourite pieces that you made.. The Harry Potter jacket.. The leather jacket were up top and both would go with the dress in my opinion ❤
It’s fun to see more angles of your personality. You’re very talented!
What a BEAUTIFUL dress! You are so, so talented!
Gunner if you have a zig zag you can use twine zig zag it on and gather that way works awesome on heavy fabrics
"I just sewed the belt in the wrong place" you have no idea how much it warms my heart to hear someone with your skills say that. That is so amazing! I don't wear dresses or gowns that much, but I would totally wear that!!
Wow Gunnar - really good job matching the denim colors for your skirt!!
A ball gown simply isn't a ball gown without the iconic crinoline petticoat to get that luscious silhouette. ❤ it!
Gunnar, that is stunning. As a woman with bit of edge style preferences. I would made the bodice from velvet for a drama or tartan for my wedding. However who cares your work is impressive. Love it
Oh my goodness that is gorgeous! I love all your work!
You never cease to amaze me!!! That dress is sooooo cool! I love it! Only thing is that we big busted girls would NEVER be able to hold that up in place with a skirt that heavy!🤣🤣🤣💚💙💜
I actually
Boned this/ inserted some grosgrain ribbon knots the waist in hopes it would help haha
Looooovvveee this!!!!! You are amazing Gunnar!!!!
You could make a midi or even a mini version of this for day time. Because denim. I love the way this moves when she walks.
Es absolutamente hermoso, lo ame ❤ sigue progresando
‘They ask how I keep my back from hurting, and *heh* I don’t. I’m always hurting 😃’
Love how you added the existing waistband to the bodice 💜
The part where you roll in and out of the video frame in that roll made me laugh so much omg😂😂
That came out BEAUTIFULLY! I would have made it just a hair shorter though. I just don't like when dresses are actually dragging on the ground. Other than that, I LOVE IT!!!
Gunner I love this dress! The tulle underskirt was magnificent.
Seam ripping- my favourite activity! 🤣
Your style is so great and your skills as a artist in the world of fashion are just absolutely magnificent!😊🖤
Not a fan of denim skirts let alone denim dresses/gowns. Can't believe what you did! The choice of deep dark denim for the bodice total game changer! Your denim gown game is beyond anyone else's! No playing-just artistry.
