    My name is Isaac and cars are my hobby and passion.
    This video is a brief description of BMW's "Energy Flow" from the recently added Mild Hybrid 48 Volt generator.
    As of 2021 6 cylinder BMW models removed the Auto Start/Stop function for the engine. They replaced it with something way better for performance and efficiency. Auto Start/Stop was when the engine turned off at a brief stop and starting again just before driving off. The performance and efficiency are much better with 48V. I can speak for the efficiency side due to my driving style. One thing that changed is the the sound of the exhaust. Prior of this model popped and crackled much louder before this system so there is a trade-off.
    Anyway, the upside is they installed this Energy Flow screen for fun viewing and understanding. That is what we are viewing in this video.
    Enjoy!

    Does the tachometer layout stay stored even after turning off the car?
    I read online that on the earliest versions you had to set it again every time you turn the car on and I was wondering if they fixed it.

      No. As long as it is done correctly. They push 470+ horsepower easily. Which is M3 power. Try to stay inside warranty while it is still active.

      For a short period, yes. That is part of its purpose. It is reliant on your driving habits. You might not have any juice during sporty and stopping. Driving downhill works wonders.

    My energy flow is always fixed in level 2 or 3, have you ever managed to get it full?

    • @theautointuitive3172
      @theautointuitive3172  Год назад +2

      Quick takeoffs will drain it in Sport Mode. Also sitting in the car in Drive Ready State. Anytime the engine is off via Auto Stop/Start and Air Conditioning is on also drains it. Try driving it in Comfort or Eco modes on Highways and freeways. I am also rare full due to my right foot.

      I’ve just got mine. Have you figured it out yet?

    • @anuragreddykanuganti3187
      @anuragreddykanuganti3187 Год назад +3

      I have an M440i xDrive with the same setup. You can get it to full while driving it in Sport or Sport Plus for a while. No quick accelerations though as it will drain the battery. Medium to hard braking will charge it up faster. Driving in Eco Pro will never get it to full as the engine will turn off as soon as you leave the gas pedal unless you are hard braking every time. When the battery is charged to 4 bars or above, the electric motor will assist the engine in even casual accelerations. It will provide the Eboost functionality when in Sport modes which can be seen in the Energy flow screen as Electric Motor Assist or something and you should be able to see 2 arrows (Blue and Orange). It’s actually kind of cool to see and know when these complex things are happening in the background. Personally, I drive mine in Eco Pro 90% of the time trying to take advantage of it’s efficiency and Sport Plus the remaining 10% of the time when I want to have some fun. Almost never in Comfort, Adaptive or Sport. I use the Sprint mode when I quickly need to pass someone on the highway as it is the quickest mode you can access while the car being in any mode. You can try it by holding the left paddle shifter for a few seconds. The car goes full Sport on everything I think, downshifts to an appropriate gear and puts the transmission in manual mode so you can quickly switch gears when needed. This will automatically go back the previous mode you were in after some time when you’re done using the power or you can manually do it by holding the right paddle shifter and it takes you back to the previous mode. I have done so much research on my car. Read a lot of forum posts. Literally read the entire 300-400 page manual that comes with the car. Let me know if you need any help with any feature only as an end user as I don’t know nothing about fixing these things or have any knowledge about the mechanical stuff lol
