I saw Alexei doing stand up at Lancaster University many many years ago, he was brilliant and the way he dealt with a heckler was amazing. I have lots of respect for him, a true knowledgeable talented man, amazingly funny.
I often feel he was seriously underrated. A comedic genius with a great way with the English language . His books are good too. Wish he would return on the comedy circuit
@@yorkshirepudding6980 he has been on a bit of a tour with Peter Richardson and Nigel Planer talking about the comic strip presents and how ahead of its time it was, Alexie was still very funny but then they all were 🍻🍺
One of the THE most original and inherently funny people on the planet - if you haven't been to his sandwich bar in Liverpool you absolutely need to check it out it does the best corned beef soup you will ever have.
Capaldi as the Doctor could have Alexei as his new companion after Clara leaves. If they're this good at travelling in time, then they need to work together on Doctor Who. And can you imagine how funny Doctor Who could be with Sayle on board?
I was just about to sit down and eat dinner , when I got the sudden urge to watch Alexi Sayle . So this popped up I laughed like a drain , dinner was nicer with Alexi .

"If this car was a horse... It would be a jam donut with an egg inside it!" How did this slip through the net... First time I have even heard of it... 26 years after the event ? I must have been trying to impress a girlfriend's parents or something? 🤔🇬🇧
I understand you're being complimentary, but it wasn't ahead of its time, it was perfectly reflective of 80' & 90's alternative UK comedy. Comedy has unfortunately devolved since then, mainly due to offense culture, so anything pre 2000 is the zenith of comedy, today's comedy is just a joke.
@@ChillmaxYou are correct. It's fucking shite. Comedy now is Covid 19. Not funny but a good excuse for rich talentless arrogant dotty nosed nasal comedians to bang on about long Covid and their terrible Cocaine addiction.
15:43 I was once too slow to hold the lift for black Yorkshire comedian Charlie Williams in a rush for his stage appearance in the early-1970s. "Oh I'll have to use the stairs now!' and off he dashed. I was just too surprised by a celebrity needing my assistance to react: I froze. I wasn't prejudiced! I',m not against Yorkshiremen! I WOULD have helped if I wasn't an overwhelmed new teenager at the face from television talking to me in my budgie jacket! It's not my fault, Charlie!
I said "OIII! Alexei!, you haven't had a haircut for a while!" He said, "No, you're quite right" I said "Don't worry, I won;t use scissors to cut it. I'll use a pair of boots. I'm gong to kick the hair off your head."
Carlisle was apparently in the national consciousness in the 90s... Fast forward thirty years and it generally only gets mentioned on TV as a pointless answer on 'Pointless'
"Garden centres are so expensive...The annoying thing about them is the fact that the things they sell actually do grow on trees...." Heh heh. He was wasted on 'The Young Ones'. His own TV shows were always much funnier.
I'm not homophobic, but the bloke I slept with was... Made me laugh there... And a scouse impersonating Peter Capaldi too... Jenny Agutter in the same skit... High production values indeed ;)
Production values - this is from the good ol' days, when it was all done in house at the BBC & not farmed out to this & that production company, very sad!!
I’ve just listened to another episode of Alexei’s Imaginary Sandwich Shop….Your still the man Alexei! Your TV shows were genius.
@@andrewbutcher3391 love it. Even funnier now.
If I had my life to live over again, I'd definately watch this episode again
After I'd smelled the flowers and killed the BeeGees.
8:12 In a 1990s comedy show, Peter Capaldi playing a time traveller
Yes. Tom Baker shot to fame playing Rasputin, so it's a nice six degrees of separation reference....
Genius;.......absolute genius.
Have loved Alexei Sayle since I used to stay up late to watch the reruns of The Young ones on MTV when I was 13

He did a tour a couple of years ago. The guy's like 70 now so can't expect him to keep touring
@@Solaar_Punk yes sadly I forget how old people now are , including myself !
It's all so true. 😥
I was cheared up a bit then, watching and listening to Alexi Sayle, and what I regret is reading the comments. I am a Scoucer. Sorry about that.

Made me laugh out loud - today, and it's 2021.
Funny, is funny, doesn't matter when 😁.
"...I'm not homophobic but I've slept with a man who is." That is a BRILLIANT gag. Love it.
My all time time favourite episode from the All New series!
I have both series on VHS recorded from TV, hopefully i'll dig them out one day.
Havent seen this for years. I always loved his comedy.
My word, is that Jenny Agutter? And Peter Capaldi too, quite a cast!
I love Alexei so much. Thank you so much for posting this. He's such a character.
Co written by Arthur Matthews and Graham Linehan, the writers of Father Ted.

OMG Jenny Agutter, what a pleasant surprise. I forgot how entertaining these shows were. Bravo Alexi.
Completely forgot about those 'Bobby Chariot' bits. "How yah diddling...bloody sod yeh then!" Class! :)
Oh, thanks. Will be watching all of these when time permits. 👍
Edit. A great start.
Sooner or later I knew they'd be up. Thanks a million and keep em coming.

This is brilliant. Forgotten just how good this series was,
And Blakey from on the buses What a cast.
When?
I noticed Jenny Aguter, Peter Capaldi and Jim Carter!
Blakey is selling gags to the warm up man!

I haven't seen this since it was originally shown. It's still really good.
The prop department nailed the paparazzi camera exactly
In the good ol' days when there was a 'proper' props dept. ;-)
Holy shit. Sayle's stuff still really holds up. Why isn't it repeated more on TV?
This is great. First time watching his show. I'm from Florida so we had shit like Who's The Boss, and The Cosby Show
Brilliant...I'm back in comedy heaven
Genius. Absolutely genius. Funnier now than it was in the 80s
I loved alexei in this, fantastic
One of the funniest ever. He just has the gift.
7:27 Jim Carter (Downton Abbey butler) in blue shirt playing Rasputin.
