Honestly, Alexie's BBC R4 Imaginary Sandwich Bar has given me more completely genuine laughs than anything I've heard since my hysterical childhood exposure to old Stan & Ollie B&W films in the early 70's, when I was sub-10. I grew up with Alexie and lost him for 30 yrs between The Young Ones and his Sandwich Bar. His recent tales of chucking rubbish over a wall in Spain (France, dunno???) years ago, and making annual guilty pilgramages back to to see it for the following two decades slayed me. His ISB episode concerning the prostitute girl at Kings Cross calling him a 'Santa-Claus-faced old bastard' coz he politely refused her when walking past with his wife, was probably THE funniest thing I have EVER heard iml... sorry, I have to contain myself... I love you for being you, Alexie, big XXX's, no homo.
I live in Australia and our programming has always amounted to EOX news and "the banality of evil". Just come across Alexei's STUFF.....what a crack up!

His best shows were the earlier “Alexei Sayle’s Stuff” which were made 8-10 years before then, so you likely didn’t see his best material.
