I’ve been using Amsoil products for decades. Before I retired I changed my Signature Series oil at 15,000 mile intervals instead of 25,000 miles. The vehicles ran 200,000 miles and beyond with absolutely no problems, and never added a drop of oil between changes. All I can tell you is that oil is the cheapest mechanic you will ever pay. Use the best oil that you can buy!

Everyone's different, but I use the Signature Series in my two Hemi engines, one I change just before winter storage in the fall , the other once in spring and once in fall, although now driving less that might change too. I found the Signature oils make my engines quiet, at least the first 1000 kms or so, and engine runs quite nicely. My other two Chev engines I now run Penzoil Ultra platinum (before ran Amsoil XL Oils) as they are older and less expensive and don't hold thier value, but still at minimum 6 month intervals. Frequent oil changes over the decades I've been doing it has saved me a lot of expensive engine repairs no doubt, as the old Fram add said, "Pay me now or Pay me later" held true. Amsoil is more expensive but still cheap insurance.

Before GDI and low tension piston rings I used Supertech full synthetic 10w30 in 2 Dodge turbo cars, 15k OCI with a filter and top off at 7500. I had the Dodge 600 Turbo get an inter-cooler added, they insisted on a new head gasket. I asked how the insides looked, they said it was spot less. At that time I was 20,000 miles a year, that was in the late 80s and 90s. I drive less now, and the RDXs have warranties so it's every 6 months no matter what on 10w30 in the summer and 0w20 in the winter with what I get on sale.

  • @AmazonasBiotop

Just replace your oil earlier a KISS method. (If you are after to keep the car for a long time and you care.)
We can debate if whatever quality oil is better or worse than amsoil or not.
But if we just for simplicity says booth is 100% synthetic (group IV).
That they are then the "same" in the base stock of the oil then we have the additive packages.😅 (there are for sure others than just amsoil tjat use group IV base stock!)
Yes, it is true that the printing "fully synthetic" is not a verification or certification. It is just marketing. But that don't mean that some of them are not 100% "man made" so the problem is just to find out which one is..😂
So the catch is WHEN it is overpriced then we are indirect pushed towards longer drain interval..
Otherwise no way to get some economy into that purchase like the guy in the video tells us that we actually "save" money.. 😮
Then we need to follow the long drain interval regime ti be ABLE to save anything from our "oil investment"..😢😅
And EVERYBODY knows that for each mile we get the oil more contaminated... We are grinding metal together and pit IN some dirt from the air and fule little by little plus combustion contaminents and so on.🎉
When it is one of the oils basic work is to clean and keep dirt suspended in the oil by its design.🎉
We know that oil filters is not filter out all dirt. We have fuel dilution try to filter that out, as just one example...😂
Oh, now they sell flush 😂 wonder why..😂😂
Yes, it is the ONLY way to get accumulated dirt out by taking the liquid out trough the drain hole!😅 (that is why they use flush.. We need ti remove the dirt out trugh the oil drain hole.)😂
It do not matter what oil you got the accumulated dirt will be the same, each mile for that given specific engine and your driving style/conditions.😢🎉
So in short don't waste time and money on oil analysis just to try to squeeze out maximum miles.. You will just be doing the "second best" thing.😂
Just do little more frequent oil changes. And wolla you are doing a better job than the worlds best oil filter couldn't do!😂 by getting the dirt OUT from the engine!😅
    1. No need to analyze anything (save time and money)
    2. Never need to flush anything (save time and money)
    3. Better performance than using dirty amsoil for long drain interval that is analyzed and used until it is caput..😮
Then there is also other stuff than just dirt but this got already to long if a rant.❤

I’ve tried Royal Purple , Casteroil, and several other brands of oil, additives and grease. I also have sent oil analysis help with each of these products and Amsoil always beats them hands-down. like yourself, I watched project Farms oil tests, and that is what got me to try Amsoil. I changed both differential oil‘s and transfer case oil’s in my 2018 RAM and the words, a slight mileage increase along with a definite noticeable, feeling of smoothness in the drivetrain. After changing the transmission fluid to Amsoil as well it also helped improved my mileage along with smoother shifts. I now use Amsoil. I have everything that is mechanical that I own. Been using Amsoil since my first brand new car. A 1973 olds cutlass supreme. I'm 73 now and still use it in my 2009 Ford explorer LTD. It just turned 269,00 miles. Did the tranny fluid last yr when it had 225000 miles. Runs like a new car. It's also in my 2015 Nissan Titan 4X my 2007 Honda rancher and my 2022 Husqvarna lawn tractor. The first synthetic oil I used was called ALL PROOF, which is now called RED LNE. Amsoil is just as good if not better and a lot cheaper. That's why I switched. This guy knows his stuff and I wish him the best! Oh and by the way , I went to work for the USPS in 1969 after HS graduation, and in 1977 I put in a suggestion that they run the Mail trucks on Amsoil products. They would'nt go for it they said because of Fairness to te other oil producers, which I'm convinced is BULLSHIT , Politics and the other crap that goes on with the Govt. contracts and kickbacks , no doubt was the REAL reason, Just like today with the $$ sent to the joo run countries like jookraine and israhell.

Amsoil is good but don't think that all of its products are the best. There are some store brands that perform just as good albeit not 100% synthetic. Currently, since ILSAC GF-6, the Signature Series oil is on par with Mobil 1 Extended Performance's film strength. I have a machine to test film strength and there are a few resources online that also do testing, so I'm giving you scientifically-backed insight into the facts and not just opinions. Anyone saying Signature Series or Amsoil is a scam is clearly ignorant. Just because you're a mechanic or know someone who is a mechanic doesn't mean you know the first thing about oil; being a mechanic doesn't make you a tribologist or scientist conducting real testing.

You went 7,880 miles on this oil and wear metals are in great shape. Iron is especially low. It's from steel parts and it tends to track with oil use. On a per-mile basis, iron is well below average (0.89 ppm/1K miles vs. an average of 1.89 ppm/1K miles) so steel parts are happy and healthy. The TBN was strong at 4.2 since 2.0 is low. From what I've read, group IV/V synthetics are supposed to be better at keeping their properties at high temperatures. So if you live In TX, AZ or anyplace that's hot more than cold, and you're forced to use 0w20, a group IV oil is a better choice. If you have options per your owners manual, a 10w30 or 10w40 is a better option in 40c temperatures. That 0w20 and lower, is our corrupt government in play, so were the low tension piston rings. Only true group IV I am aware of are Amsoil and Redline. I thought Triax and Shaeffers 9000 series also were, but I've seen other comments suspect otherwise.

I think your Duramax would benefit greatly using Amsoil Diesel oils. I know it made mine run smoother and quieter at idle. It also brought my oil temp down and pressure went up. Just use engine flush before changing the oil. Put flush in the oil fill hole and let it idle for 15 minutes then drain and do the oil change. Just be careful it will come out thin and really hot. I use signature series Max Duty Diesel oil in mine and love it.

Amsoil is not magic. I have used it on some of my vehicles and it was fine. A few months back I tried Amsoil again and sent a sample in for testing. The results were the same as the other high quality oil I was using as far as wear metals go. The oil change interval only matters if you have no intention of keeping your car or could care less about the next owner. After the initial break in of your engine the wear metals will accumulate linearly mile by mile. If you consistently wait 10K or more, you will be asking for trouble. The oil properties may still be fine, but there will be a lot of extra stuff in there that will increase wear in of itself and if enough time passes, sludge.
You mentioned, lower oil temperatures and higher oil pressures. That could be interesting. How much lower and how much higher?

    • @FABAutomotiveDetailing
      @FABAutomotiveDetailing  5 месяцев назад +1

Definitely not claiming it’s magic but Amsoil always does what they say it will.
My old Ram I just sold with the Hemi would be around 275 oil temp when towing our camper when I first bought it with regular oil in it. When I switched to Amsoil it would consistently be around 240-245 when towing the same camper.
As far as oil pressure is concerned both of my Rams with regular oil would stay around halfway on the gauge on acceleration. Unfortunately the gauges don’t show you pressure but once Amsoil was in them the gauge will go past half on acceleration compared to before. My guess would be 5-10 psi. I never put an oil pressure gauge on them to know for sure but I can see it on the factory gauge in the cluster.

I use to think the same thing about the price of Amsoil but it is only a few dollars more per quart and it’s 100% Synthetic. Mobil 1 is only 25% synthetic. Watch Project Farms video I think Mobil 1 finished 8th. Amazon Basics beat Mobil 1.

Unless you can tell us which refinery the base stock oil comes from , and who makes the additive package, plus what those exact numbers are ( in ppm ) , then your recommendation is just anecdotal, or marketing, and does not mean its the best oil, it just means you are benefiting monetarily from said product.

@@flexjay87 I just recently became a distributor but have always recommended Amsoil ever since I saw the benefits from my own vehicles. I didn’t make money recommending it until recently. Amsoil is 100% man made there is no refinery process. Amsoil makes all their own additives and oil in house.
There are always doubters and I’m used to that but everyone that I know that has made the switch swears by it now.

I was spending more money than I am now per year. Also I see the benefits of using it once I made the switch. I thought the same way you did until I just said screw it and tried it and have not looked back.

Amsoil is a blender, not a manufacturer. They buy their base oil from ExxonMobil. They buy the additive package from Lubrizol. An acquaintance works in engineering at Lubrizol. When asked about Amsoil he was very clear that he couldn’t get into detail due to a confidentiality agreement between Amsoil and Lubrizol. Here’s what he did say. “They buy the very best base oil that ExxonMobil makes. They buy the very best additive package that Lubrizol makes. Put them together and you have a pretty good oil”. No magic, just chemistry.

    • @FABAutomotiveDetailing

Yes! Amsoil actually offers high mileage oil now. They recently released it. I would buy the High mileage oil and a bottle of flush for the first oil change then you will be good after that. It really depends on the mileage you out on the car and what kind of traffic you drive in. I wouldn’t go past 10k miles and check the oil level frequently.

You’ve never used Amsoil have you? I thought the same thing for years until I tried it and the rest is history. Over 20 years of being a mechanic I have seen customer religiously maintain their cars and still have engine problems. With todays engines have such tight tolerances and especially these engines that shut certain cylinders down at high way speeds need a really good oil. Ever heard of Pre Ignition Detonation? Amsoil prevents that and your other oils won’t.
