When the Tax Stamp was enacted it was not a mere pittance. It was designed to make guns unaffordable to the black people and the poors. Only well to do people could comfortably pay $200.00 in 1934. Adjusted for inflation, (code for the Dollar being devalued), They were paying the equivalent of $4,661.00 in todays dollars for the privilege of owning an NFA item. And I am guessing the reason that the $200.00 Tax Stamp has never been raised is because they don't want to change the NFA and put the whole NFA up for debate.

@@TheCrazyMoparDude68 Wrong. Our 2nd Amendment was put in place to insure the people have the ability to defend themselves against tyranny. Clear logic dictates that in order to do so a populous must have access to the same arms that a tyrannical government might use against them. None of our God given rights have limitations. Furthermore the 2n't Amendment reads as such, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The words shall not be infringed includes Congress. It doesn't read (shall not be infringed unless Congress decides to infringe on that right). Yes there are limitations on such things as murder, robbery and similar crimes for which there have always been laws to prevent the likes, but those limitations are not on rights since no one has the right to commit murder... I’ve never really cared about them enough to even think they were worth spending that money and hassle on but if people want them you could make one from crap at your local hardware store. So their “control” is just threat. Hell you could make pretty much everything on the NFA from a hardware store.

NFA has been challenged and upheld by SCOTUS for 85ish years now. However reality since that ruling has changed since now the standard issue weapon to the US Army is a short battles select fire rifle. And when the M7 gets fielded you’ll have a short barreled, select fire rifle with standard issue suppressor.
