I bought mine on a whim last days and i was just started to wonder if i had done a good choice. But after reading their About US showing me that they were well legetimate and had worked to create a proper engraving pen . And Now after watching your review, i became really excited to receive mine.
I engrave glad with water to help from breathing too much glass dust. So, I put in a Ziploc bag with a hole in the corner for the bit to poke through. At first the bag's plastic was causing too much friction and noticeably putting a load on the motor so, I put oil where the bag and bit slide on each other. I noticed the engraver got got a little more quicker due to the bag preventing enough airflow.
My mom just bought this for me and I’m SO EXCITED to give it a try. I’m always looking for new mediums and ways to create art or something so I’m THRILLED
Using engraver on many types of materials , I encountered problems on hard materials like metals , lines are shaky hard to control , but o soft wood or materials lines will come out better .
I like this device. I find that It compliments my Dremel for doing fine wood carving, that my Dremel Flex Shaft is a little more awkward. I have only been wood carving for a few months, but I use all my woodworking tools to help me out to get the best result. I do find that the Customizer does get warm after continued use. I just switch over to the Dremel for heavier carving at those times. I also like the portability of the Customizer as I can take it anywhere to use it, where the Dremel I can't. I would recommend the Customizer for anyone doing wood carving or engraving.
Reviews on the site about the item is your best bet!!! The customers that have bought it and have actually used it, know what to expect and warn others if there are any issues.
I do pen and ink, stippling, pointalism, hatching, cross hatching and calligraphy. I have damaged my hands so bad over the years that I dont think I can get the pen strokes right....I just cant apply pressure like needed or fade as well, etc. I was just gifted this pen and I am pretty sure that I will be able to do some of the stuff that I could do on paper before with this thing, but now I get to use stone, wood, metal, etc. Using it too...I have a dremmel with the attachment for a "engraving pen"....and metallic hose that hooks to it with a pen for the tips. Its louder and not nearly as smooth as this pen. Though the dremmel plugs into the wall and is obviously more industrial.
Is it me, or does this engraver look just like most nail technicians tools? But did you know some of their tools have a reverse funtion so you can have the spin going one way and then the other. Now this is very handy when doing tight areas. So i do like the carving bits this comes with and drill bits. Im curious to see if it can go into a nail drill, as i have just purchased one for craft reasons. Its very good. And it has a a little base box that you can clip to your side and a telephone type cord to the handle. I love the dial to adjust the speed over a digital button. Much faster. But it still has a digital screen. And im yet to charge it. It has 10hrs battery life. Thanks for your review, im glad this too is a quality product
I saw this advertised on Facebook before last Christmas, linked it to my chat feed, then forgot about it. I saw another advert tonight and thought I'd have a look here on RUclips for reviews. Yours was the first I saw and I have to say, I'm impressed! I've resent myself the link and I'm going to see if I can afford to get one next pay-day. I can think of all sorts of stuff I can do with it and the gifts I can make with it too! Thanks for a really good and informative video. I wonder if it would be worth attempting to create an end cover from resin? Hopefully that would also form a shallow bung to help protect the USB slot as well as look after the end against unwitting bashes!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate it and glad I was able to help! I think its a great investment and hopefully works for all your creative projects in mind! Cheers 🙌🏽✒️
Got one for Christmas, one of the set screw holes didn’t have threads to hold the set screw. Two emails and a “contact us” link to fill out a message, no response from the contact page or the emails. Found quite a few one star ratings because of the no response from customer service.
I just got 1 of these pen engravers only thing is Im not sure what bit to use on certain things such as wood, glass, & or stone & metal. Are all the bits ok to use on these items? Or are there certain bits for certain objects- a few bits for glass & other bits for wood & so on?
Diamond head bits work best on metal or glass , my advice to you is use different bits , practice, practice, practice, you will definitely get different effects from different burrs , different woods are harder to use , I’d start with pine , also deeper cuts for like muscle structures on animals like Elk for instance!! Remember unless your a artist, the right. Stencils are everything!!
I would not recommend this for cutting cardboard. If a standard utility blade is too unnerving I would suggest trying the ceramic safety razors on Amazon - some have a blunted tip too ✅

Absolutely and a great question! It also depends on what material you are carving and how much pressure you are a applying but I have gotten ours of use without needing recharging for a week! Again, if you use it more frequently, you will need to recharge it more, but it also has a very quick recharging in less than roughly an hour and a half (depending on amps) hope this helps!
Hm I didnt have too much trouble engraving steel -it just doesn’t go super deep - I would make sure its fully charged too and play around with bits (I am sure you have) Maybe the makers have more points or harder bits for steel?
Great video!!! Does anyone know where this pen is manufactured? It’s designed in the USA but there’s no info on the website as to where they source their parts/where the factories are.
I used my pen for about 3 months and it quit working. It has a full charge but when I turn it, it runs for 1-2 seconds and then shuts down. Is there somewhere it could be sent for repair? I got no help from the company.
My aunt got something similar to this and it came with a bunch of bits. Is there anywhere we can figure out what bit does what since there was no explanation in the box??
Awesome! I would recommend testing the bits out on a similar material before starting your project! Each material may react differently despite what the bits were intended for Hope this helped ✅
Yes in a way but I feel this gives you portable access and comfort/control for longer projects The variety of bits are also quite nice and versatile but you have to get what works best for you ✅

So i consider myself to be almost professional, I used the SCM engraving tools for years these are extremely expensive but amazing, anyway , until my friend asked for them back lol! Few years ago had a major car accident, my second in 15 years, that I couldn’t even hold a pen never mind a engraving-one! So I’m glad to see that this may be what I need , looks like you can do relief carvings which is 3 dimensional, so I’m gonna purchase this !
@@icametowatchyoutube7598 I haven’t really used it to its fullness yet like doin a relief carving , but I have done some deep letters on some scrape pine wood , it was easy to use , I like the size out the pen , very comfortable, like the amount of burrs they give you ! I will be putting it to the test this week , I have been using the maker X from Worx it’s big in your hands but it’s a very good tool! Nothing can compare to the SCM tool in my opinion ,, but for the price it’s a great alternative, I have a feeling I will be using both these tools to replace the SCM system, and I’m ok with that !

Feel like its a bad investment..need a video regarding permanent gel & rock engraving..cant notice the engraving without. This doesnt cut it unfortunately
I would never pay that much money for that kind of tool. Seems like it doesn't have enough torgue to really bite into even to that soft stick.. makes me wonder that would it even scratch harder materials.
The worst, I recommended it to 2 different people and it died after less than 2 months. The internal battery is crap. They need to use a new battery supplier. Oyrside of that when it works it's great
In my testing I got hours of use that translated to a week of using it everyday without needing recharging until the end of the week- there’s also battery life indicator that is very helpful at managing battery life I was very surprised but it can be challenging to give an accurate number because it changes based on materials being carved into- The more tougher materials like metal and some wood will burn out the battery a little bit faster than the soft materials Hope this helps! Put a piece of tape over the charging port before you start grinding/carving to prevent dust from getting into device - make sure tape suitable

Why are the lines on my stones and glass turning black and I can’t wash the black off?
Have you tried different speeds and/tips? It might be burning the glass
Tey cleaning with either toothpaste or nail varnish remover
You need to engrave glass and stone under running water. Either that use a carbide sanding bit
