Dragon's Dogma 2 was already one of my most anticipated games of 2024, the most recent updates make me even more pumped. This game is looking fantastic.
The original game was overshadowed by Skyrim and seriously underrated. Allowing characters to climb large foes lead to interesting and unique battle situations. I did hate the "romance" system though. Anyone who played it will likely have horror stories of their character somehow falling in love with a random merchant or blacksmith just because you spent too much time shopping there.
I love dragons dogma, and the dark arisen definitely helped raise the bar for the game. It's the absolute best 6/10 game I've ever played. The combat and pawn system are GOAT. However there is so much jank in the game to really make it a go-to recommendation for most people. This sequel has so much potential, especially in the hands of today's Capcom.
I wouldn't really call it a "romance" system per se, but more like an affinity system. The more you interact with or gift an NPC, the more they like you. Or you can just gift a specific ring to max out someone's affinity. I think it's called the Arisen Ring?
Some of my favorite parts about DD1 was how incredibly dark it was. PITCH BLACK. I loved it so much , get light source or suffer. You can get the first game for 5 dollars pretty regularly on steam, and used copies for the various consoles (even switch! It runs very well on switch.) are very cheap. The first game is exactly what you’re seeing in the second game, just, you know, from ps3 era. You can absolutely get your fix rn. I love monhun and its the open world monhun I always wanted.
Warrior and Sorcerer are actually the Advanced Vocation verison of Fighter and Mage basic vocations. Not to be confused with hybrid vocations (magick archer, mystic spearhand, etc)
Hearing its 4x larger is welcome. A lot of open world games have gott4en far too large and bloated, but DD world was too small, esp with the large scale creatures, combat, and cities
I've been playing it for the first time atm and it's funny how close everything is and they want me to believe this isn't a failed country, bruh you got basically a seige happening with bandits existing 1 foot outside the walls 😂
Yeah and the open areas had those corridors between them, so it wasn't one open map, it was several small open areas stitched together. It still worked, but it'll be so much better, here
The problem with Dragon’s Dogma is the start is pretty slow burn. If the average quit time of a game is within 1-2hrs then I can understand why people just stopped and wandered away (to play Skyrim). But if you keep going it just gets better and better until you realise it’s such a unique RPG.
I still remember playing DD demo on ps3. A battle against a griffon. I was mounting it and it flew high up the sky. I stabbed it a few times and then fell down 50 meters and died. I instantly purchased the full version. But I still hate that DD2 has no coop. Would be the perfect game for me and my wife. Guess we stick to Remnant 2 and MHW
I’m late to the party. Saw the footage of 2 and decided to try the first one to see if I’d like the 2nd. I love it and can’t stop playing. The first one is kind of what I wanted FFXVI to be. I’m too excited for the 2nd
I'm glad that seems to be the effect for so many people. Its unexpectedly fun for how jank the game can be sometimes. I can only hope 2 can create that experience once again.
I love the first one so much, can't wait to play this next one. I have the rule of never preordering games, but I'm really thinking about it this time.
Legit the only thing disappointing me, but I hoped they'd add was the pugilist vocations. They scrapped it in development of the First game, but they could still add it to this in a dlc maybe
"A little rough". You'd think dev's would want someone competent at their game to showcase it instead of handing it to someone almost completely oblivious. Both the warrior and the mage gameplay were like nails across a chalkboard. These kinds of decisions is what makes it take a decade+ for anyone to appreciate the dev's work. First impressions are the most important, this has been wisdom for generations and they just shrug, shake someone's hand, puke on their shoes and move along like nothing happened.
I never thought I would see games like Elden Ring and Dragons Dogma 2 and have a whatever attitude towards the next elder scrolls, thanks you letting me down ahead of time Todd.
i love the weight and height sistem from the original if you have a small and slim character u climb faster and fit in small places but u cant hold or trow heavy enemies, and viceversa with bigh/tall characters, also the pawns telling me "hey remember u have a date to bang the queen" was a nice way to remind you about quest without using menus or a fix text in the screen.
Man, Seeing your character get yeeted is amazing, Love the fact that they went ahead and added as many funny aspects as possible to the game. The experience should be fun at it's core.
I loved all the magic spells in dragons dogma, the dark arisen. The spells were hard to cast but powerful and rewarding, like a 6 second cast to summon a huge tornado that will wreck everything in its pass and have the screen shake changing upon intensity. It's just awesome. I hope they carry over this kind of gameplay for sure!!
I saw the video and if this game has all this that you guys are describing, it has the potential dethrone so many gaming companies and usher us all into an insanely high level of gameplay, raising the stakes for everyone.
It's the Pawn system and how immersive the world was in DD/Dark Arisen. Plus, no other game at the time made spell-casting seem so realistic when you or a pawn who specialized in magic would cast a spell to enhance your combat skills. Fell in love with it in high school, purchased it on my first PS3 console, got Dark Arisen for the PS4, got it again for the Switch, played it on Xbox... And now, I shall dive into the world of Dragon's Dogma 2 on next gen. CANNOT wait.
I prefer single player experiences far more, however with this game in particular I feel as though co-op would be so fucking amazing. Like a D&D campaign
The pawn system was amazing. Adventuring at night was something else and there was a sense of adventure to this game that few others managed to capture.
I initially tried it on PS3, but the frame rate was horrible. Shelfed it, then picked up at PC launch so I could play this epic game at a real frame rate. Such a unique game, feels like a real adventure.
i just wanted it to have coop because i like playing with friends the best and they set it up to have their characters assist you anyway lmfao. other than that yeah looks neat
My favorite vocation in DD1 was the Warrior. The sheer amount of brute strength and damage you could do was amazing, especially with the Arc of Deliverance skill. What makes it even cooler is that you create mini explosions of fire from slamming your hammer down so hard. Since DD2 will probably be even grindier, I hope they add more vocation ranks and skills, and more upgrades to them. Looking forward to the release!
ive bought dragons dogma on every system it released for i single handily funded this games development and if its shit i will live streaam myself jumping from a skyscraper to my death
Now that's a great video and I can't wait to get my hands on the game, and I already have it pre-order.And I fell in love with the first game and I was praying for a sequel, and I am so glad that it's on the way.And keep up the great work that you are doing!
Dragon's Dogma seemed like the videogame adaptation of what 80s phantasy films looked/felt like, and that is something that I really liked about the first one. I'm happy that the same essence returns with the sequel.
I can't believe I've been waiting for a sequel for over a decade now... I used to check every few months to see if there are any news of Dragon's Dogma 2.
The issue I did not know existed until I saw it on Steam one day, and it is one of the best games I played last year. So I can imagine many people did not even know about it.
You made a mistake on the vocations. There are 4 staring vocations which is fighter, archer, theif and mage, they've shown 2 advanced vocations which were warrior and sorcerer and two hybrid vocations magic archer and mystic spear hand
In my opinion calling Dragon's Dogma's combat as similar to "Souls-likes" kind of discredits the fact that Capcom developed Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry, both of which came years before Demon Souls. There's actually more differences than similarities to Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls. There's no lock on, no losing currency on death, no dodge rolls (except as a class exclusive skill), no guarding (again except for specific classes only) etc. Dogma is no more similar to Souls that it is similar to Ocarina of Time.
One of the things that makes those Pawn interactions so funny is that they're.. not actually "people," they're just a human-shaped tool that is emulating human behavior, emotions and the like (until something happens much, much later). So in practice, you basically have less-than-dog-brain robots that periodically deliver this out of nowhere encouragement.. even if you just absolutely got thrashed, and it is ENTIRELY "in character" 😅
Critics are midwits with no right to ever speak. Dragons dogma was pretty much ahead of its time, and the only reason it didnt do well is because it was a ps3 exclusive. The only reason it ever blew up was making it to pc, where gamers were finally able to get their hands on it and appreciate it. Dragons dogma has a bit of monster hunter, witcher 3, valhalla, skyrim, and some other games sprinkled in. Some of the features are copies and some are ahead of the games that later popularized them. The ones it copied it just did better, and the ones it innovated. . . it just did better. The PC is where this game was successful. I am just glad they saw that right away and gave us a PC release immediately instead of waiting a few years.
for 2012 the the game was paving the way for the future it was ahead of its time and now we get to see the fruits of what dg1 made with the sequel and im beyond amped for it
I just recently got introduced to this series and been loving it so far! Looking forward to the sequel & definitely super underrated! Love your videos always Force Gaming! Also Congrats again on 1mill subscribers! :D
I just hope they keep the original design of grigori he had such a classical but also uniquely distinctive design if that makes any sense he might be my fav dragon in games
Resting in original dragon's dogma was used to connect to the server and claim the rewards your pawn got from adventuring with other Arisen. That's probably the second reason for why they implemented a loss gauge that forces you to rest.
Been telling everyone how much new mechanics it had and i wish they added that to DD2. But sadly it looks like they keeping those away and only focusing on DD1 improvements.
@@Jinkypigs my guy, you could play it as singleplayer as you wanted it without even taking other peoples pawns if you wanted it. The main ingredients to craft gear was dropping from monsters like in monster hunter. It was you're choice if you wanted to join other people or events. You could ignore it all and just play it solo. The AI got expanded even further with having special passives. Late game you could pick one pawn and marry it to get special passives and skills. You had home you could decorate and invite other people. There is so much more that will be missed in DD2. DDON needs to come back.
@@omensoffate i tried and looked. Nothing comes close to it. Monster hunter world could would be the closest thing but still missing building 3 AI characters and mixing passives from vocations creating low hp builds etc. Using those AI characters to fill up slots when you are playing with a friend. Switching vocation of your AI pawn to what ever the group is missing or what ever role other players don't want to play.
Dragons Dogma really wasn't that difficult and certainly wasn't complicated... go to place, hit monster. Repeat. What the fuck were those critics drinking?
20:15 there was the mystic knight class which wore heavy armor and had combat utility spells. I loved it, would enchant my weapon with fire and smack that ball of energy and throw fire balls
When Dragon's Dogma first came out I picked it up on XBOX. I loved it so much that when it came out on PC, it was a no brainer for me to buy it immediately. Just an overall great game. The only flaw I saw in it was the chatter from the pawns.
The harpy flying thing you could do in dark arisen i think, but one of thoese badass grigoi things to get on top to get a statue in some room, i didn't do it myself but it existed in that game too, you probably couldn't steer it though, not sure :)
The lion warrior sounds so cool to play, my very first successful Elder Scrolls character was a Khajiit. Dragon's Dogma 2 character and environment designs look nice and balanced, and so did DD1.
The most satisfying combat in any RPG ever for me. It balanced fun and difficulty very well and I was on board from the demo way back when. However, the lack of a proper fast travel system made the game a slog when having to traverse the large open world. Towns and cities also left a lot to be desired, but considering the hardware it was focused on, it was an IMPRESSIVE feat on release and was very, very well done. You can see the actual open world was their main focus and the towns being more so resting hubs for item/character management, and gaining quest. I am sure this will be expanded on so not worried there. Also, as said in the video, the companion system added so much extra fun. Being able to customize at least one companion and being able to choose two others added a really fun dynamic. I am glad we are getting a second release now and I hope this influences future single player/co-op rpgs. Speaking of co-op, a 4 player co-op mode would make this game fuxking PERFECT.
It's amazing to me that these big developers still let IGN post their own gameplay footage, they have to be a collection of the worst players on the planet, every time I see IGN video's i wonder if they throw the controller on the floor and let their pets chew it then hit record...
All I have to say is.. *cough* The wind is pushing me, into the clouds again! I feel the blood in my veins, time is running free, I feel like letting go. Just like the Dangan!
Hell yeah! Thanks for the update! I loved this game since the beginning and actually heard opposite reviews that it was too generic and boring but... never felt that way personally. Glad it's received enough love to FINALLY get us a sequel!
I have been wanting a second Dragons Domag game to be developed for years. Can remember posting as such in a forum a few years ago & a fair few other people on the sub basically saying to keep on wish it, that was never going to happen etc. I am so glad they were incorrect in their assumptions. I loved the original, the pawn system/mechanic absolutely made the game for, I can't wait to see what they have added to it /how they have tweaked it etc.
My brain is gonna explode: I will have Armored Core 6, Baldurs Gate 3, Elden Ring, Remnant from the Ashes 2, and Demons Souls all on my Ps5. Tis a glorious time indeed
Honestly this is a great video and I appreciate it and I learned a couple of things from it. But what I love about Force Gaming is you’re always just kinda naturally dropping some opinions that only a few hundred thousand of us have previously put forward. Like, do you mind if I mention that Halo is a masterpiece? Would it be ok if I pointed that out? And it’s like “Far OUT!”
Making it solo only once more was such a letdown. People asked for co-op for years... Not every game needs to be solo. If it had co-op, you would be able to play solo anyway. It's sad...
@@omensoffate You're a broken fucking record. EVERY comment about wanting co-op there you are as the OP cares. You provide nothing to society, take a long walk off a short pier.
If a mainstream critic says "too complicated", i always envision the scene from Idiotcracy where the guy has to put the blocks in the correctly shaped holes. Mainstream critics are worthless!
I just REALLY REALLY hope they put Multiplayer into this one. To be able to to have a friend come in and take the place of one of your pawns to travel and have adventures with you would be AMAZING. I mean having the pawns is fine, but to have actual players be able to play together would be SO MUCH BETTER.
Been over 10 years since dark arisen was released and it still has quite a few people playing, always see several threads of up to a year old where people ask for hints/tips about stuff in dark arisen
You got the vocation system wrong. The warrior and sorcerer are advanced versions of the fighter and mage, respectively. And the mixed vocations are just that, mixed vocations. Im not sure of the advanced versions of the archer or thief as it was originaly just called the strider in dd1.
The first Dragons Dogma was almost a masterpiece. But that was because of the lack of technology back then. I have high hopes that Dragons dogma 2 will definitely become a masterpiece.
I am GLAD in everyway to say I am apart of the Dragons Dogma fan base cult. Simply due to it being just that good. Considering I have waited 11 years to play DD2…!
@@OnMyL3v3l1 No what ? DDON was the bomb having coop and raids with 20 people. Also using other peoples pawns for crafting and other professions.
I’ve waited so long for this what an absolute gem of an RPG the magic alone made me fall in love with Dragons dogma
Ive been following your content for a long while now and just realised i wasnt subscribed! Congrats on 1 Million !!! 🧡
I love the first one so much, can't wait to play this next one.
I have the rule of never preordering games, but I'm really thinking about it this time.
Heck yeah let's pump up these Dragon's dogma 2 numbers!
Bethesda had their time to shine, let the other guys get their time, especially DD2
My most anticipated game and it's not even close.
i love the weight and height sistem from the original if you have a small and slim character u climb faster and fit in small places but u cant hold or trow heavy enemies, and viceversa with bigh/tall characters, also the pawns telling me "hey remember u have a date to bang the queen" was a nice way to remind you about quest without using menus or a fix text in the screen.
@@JohnDoe-pd4jo if you haven't played the first one, although quited dated, it will surely give you an idea of what to expect, but better.
We are in another golden age for Capcom with their latest stuff.
I'm very hyped for this game, but I have to say that I'm a bit dissapointed that it doesn't have multiplayer co-op.
Go play a game with co op then
@@omensoffate You lack imagination if you think this game would do bad as a multiplayer co-op.
Such a unique game, feels like a real adventure.
still hard to believe Dragon's Dogma 2 is real, there was a point where I'd just given up entirely
can't wait to kick the ox again
DD was such underrated game, i play it more times then skyrim
I just wish they added a coop option..let a player come in as a pawn
They didn’t need to make this, so that shows it’ll be even better than the first. This is basically a fan love project
BROO YOU HIT 1MILL CONGRASTS MY GUY!!
i just wanted it to have coop because i like playing with friends the best and they set it up to have their characters assist you anyway lmfao. other than that yeah looks neat
I'm replaying the first one now & thoroughly enjoying my time! Cannot wait for the 2nd game.
Is it too outdated?
The blood in fights is cool but it’s a bit odd that it just disappears instead of splashing on the ground.
I am just glad they saw that right away and gave us a PC release immediately instead of waiting a few years.
i hope rogue isnt the only class with a dodge/roll
for 2012 the the game was paving the way for the future it was ahead of its time and now we get to see the fruits of what dg1 made with the sequel and im beyond amped for it
I just recently got introduced to this series and been loving it so far!
You know, they had a free to play - multiple MMO online in Japan that never made it to America.
Really wished they would have pushed it to America.
Been telling everyone how much new mechanics it had and i wish they added that to DD2. But sadly it looks like they keeping those away and only focusing on DD1 improvements.
@@dragonsdogma2062go play a game with co op then
@@dragonsdogma2062Really? Just don't tell me you are another MMO player who wants to add stupid online only mechanics into a great single player game
Its descendant is the Magic Spearhand which is also a shell of the spirit lancer class from Dragon's Dogma Online
I jut hope they have a legit dodge button
From what I've seen from this game, I definitely have to go back and try Dragon's Dogma 1.
When Dragon's Dogma first came out I picked it up on XBOX. I loved it so much that when it came out on PC, it was a no brainer for me to buy it immediately. Just an overall great game. The only flaw I saw in it was the chatter from the pawns.
Can't wait. got all versions of dragons dogma since Xbox 360. hundreds of hours into that. man i can't wait!
Dragons Dogma 2 and Infinite wealth coming out in the same year? Amazing year for rpgs.
Someone is definitely gonna role play Darth Maul with the mystic spearhand.
This and Black Myth: Wukong are the games I’m looking forward to most this year.
I remember watching you back in the day when Diablo3 was first coming out and you covered it. A bit older now. hehe
Hell yeah! Thanks for the update! I loved this game since the beginning and actually heard opposite reviews that it was too generic and boring but... never felt that way personally. Glad it's received enough love to FINALLY get us a sequel!
Absolutely underrated first game, hopefully that will be corrected in the next game!
It's sad...
We hate co-op games get it through your thick fucking head we do not like them .
Go play a game with co op then
@@omensoffate You're a broken fucking record. EVERY comment about wanting co-op there you are as the OP cares. You provide nothing to society, take a long walk off a short pier.
It's not sad go play Halo fucking infinite
I love rag doll physics. Makes some good random fun moments.
If a mainstream critic says "too complicated", i always envision the scene from Idiotcracy where the guy has to put the blocks in the correctly shaped holes. Mainstream critics are worthless!
“Brondo! It’s got the electrolytes plants crave!” 😂😂
DDs combat is much more akin to DMC, than DS
I just REALLY REALLY hope they put Multiplayer into this one. To be able to to have a friend come in and take the place of one of your pawns to travel and have adventures with you would be AMAZING. I mean having the pawns is fine, but to have actual players be able to play together would be SO MUCH BETTER.
Replayed this game a few years ago and was baffled it wasn’t getting a sequel. Finally some justice in the world
I picked up first game on sale a few days ago. It's a great game. I'm loving it and it's made me really excited for Dragons Dogma 2.
I picked up the first game recently on PS5 for about $5 on sale, and have been enjoying it quite a bit.
Been over 10 years since dark arisen was released and it still has quite a few people playing, always see several threads of up to a year old where people ask for hints/tips about stuff in dark arisen
Can't wait... Love the pawn system!
Just 2 and a half more months, Arisens!
You got the vocation system wrong. The warrior and sorcerer are advanced versions of the fighter and mage, respectively. And the mixed vocations are just that, mixed vocations. Im not sure of the advanced versions of the archer or thief as it was originaly just called the strider in dd1.
Dragon's Dogma had it's budget cut In HALF during it's production, so it was never truly finished. Capcom did them dirty
I plan on playing this and love the series. Only wish I have for it is that it had a co-op option.
Go play a game with co op then
@@omensoffate I have and do. Just wish this game had it as an option since it is basically setup already for it with how the pawn system works.

Crimson Desert is meant to be single player Black Desert right? Same devs or something
The first Dragons Dogma was almost a masterpiece. But that was because of the lack of technology back then. I have high hopes that Dragons dogma 2 will definitely become a masterpiece.
I’m going to spend many many hours playing DD2 and I’m really looking forward to it
They’re masterworks all, can’t go wrong
I am GLAD in everyway to say I am apart of the Dragons Dogma fan base cult. Simply due to it being just that good. Considering I have waited 11 years to play DD2…!
This not being coop is soooooo rough for me . This would be perfect with friends
No
Facts. Still gonna be great though.
@@OnMyL3v3l1 No what ? DDON was the bomb having coop and raids with 20 people. Also using other peoples pawns for crafting and other professions. Wish they didn't take the team away to work on DD2 and shutting it down. DDON had all that expansions that DD was missing (cause they could just update new area when it was ready).
@@dragonsdogma2062 You can play something else.
Exactly.
And solo players would be able to play alone anyway.
Such a horrible move to not include co-op. It's not like they don't have money and Capcom is a small company who can't afford to make this game co-op
