    What I liked about the pawns is how some of them looked so F'ng cool!!! Some people really worked hard on their pawns. You could get gifts, given to your pawn from other players. I mean having the DMC pod looking after this one doesn't mean they implement the same fast paced combat. It should rather give us faith and show credibility in the quality of the designed combat for the game.

  • @botero01
    @botero01 3 месяца назад +34

    The big thing with DD is the "power fantasy" dimension of it being central to the project. It´s a huge, very complete RPG, but you have this core of combat that is really interesting since, on one hand, it still feels related to turn-based RPGs, but also makes you feel like this fantasy badass, and is agile, fast, spectacular, John-Woo-ish. I really love that.

    I gotta be honest, if any game is going to save the past few years for me, it's going to be this.

    • @GeeGe.
      @GeeGe. 3 месяца назад +1

      Hell yeah man. I haven't quite gotten to a thousand, but I've a few hundred hours in DD1 myself and it's impressive how much that game got right despite it's limited budget. Not that it didn't have flaws, because it did have quite a few. But what it did right, it did excellently. Super stoked for this sequel.

  • @alexeben7776
    @alexeben7776 3 месяца назад +15

    The pawn system made the game really immersive. It really felt like you are wandering and fighting with a real group and i think Capcom made it now even more immersive with the advanced AI.

    • @GeeGe.
      @GeeGe. 3 месяца назад +5

      Exactly! I've said this in another video already but to me, the main reason why I enjoy the pawns so much is immersion. When you play a fantasy rpg with friends, that can absolutely be a great experience but it's rarely gonna be truly immersive. People are gonna talk about anything, their lives, make jokes and what not; that is more than fine, it's natural and human. But immersive it is not. And *that* is where the pawns really shine. It's what some people try to do with tabletop rpgs like D&D - try to make these characters you created come alive and interact in a believable fashion within this world.
      The pawns won't ever be as dynamic as playing with actual friends, but they'll be leagues ahead in making you feel like you're adventuring with people who are a legitimate part of the game's world. Every serious comment, every funny comment, it's all going to be framed how a resident of this huge world would communicate. And that's a huge deal for people who want to be immersed in their rpgs.

    • @alexeben7776
      @alexeben7776 3 месяца назад +2

      @@GeeGe. Yes i agree. Too bad not many game developers make games like this. Instead they all make you wander alone and fight alone against hundreds of enemies which is also unrealistic. It´s just more realistic to fight in a group against many enemies.
      Frodo also didn´t wander alone. They all fight in groups.
      Game developers should learn this.

      @@llcoolcplays There won't be any quest markers at all. We have to figure everything out on our own, but pawns are much better at guiding us than the previous game, and we'll have the option to allow a pawn that has done the quest to take us directly to the next step.
      Also we won't have to randomly talk to NPCs to find quests, some NPCs will actually approach us if they have an issue they need solved.

    • @ninetailedfox579121
      @ninetailedfox579121 3 месяца назад +1

      @@sadi5713 Teleportation will remain basically the same, though there might already be a fast travel network set up so we wouldn't have to play through the game 5 times to get decent fast travel locations, though I'm not sure on that. But the ferry stones will be pretty expensive from what I understand.
      They will have a system of "slow" travel, we will be able to travel from one settlement to another via an ox cart that actually moves through the world and has the possibility of being attacked.

    Hot take: I don’t think the pawn system is as great as it’s being made out to be, but the game itself is still awesome.
    I played through the first one and loved it without ever realising what the pawns really were. I knew I was hiring ones created by others, but this learning mechanic went right over me. Honestly it seems like something very basic that could have just been scripted anyway. I don’t think there’s some deep AI here learning things from player behavior or anything. I think there are just some scripted interactions that just get turned on or off depending on if the creating player has been through them before.
    I still loved the game though, for its class system and world. I’ll buy this and play for sure, but just not for the pawns.

    Monster hunter is the perfect description of the combat I’ve seen in this game. It looks beautiful I’ve always loved the detailed monsters even when they turned around 360. The legs of the monsters animations would always turn the direction they intended. Just like real life animals. Obviously not monsters 😭 in real life but animals do the same thing exactly like us humans. Games when they turn any side very quickly always end up feeling Arcady & not too realistic. I honestly liked when monster hunter also showed how you couldn’t hit walls or your weapon would come right back swinging. Okay enough of my rambling time to peep the entire video 🦾😎

    I want a RPG where you play with up to 20 other players (you choose random or friends) it's an adventure game where you build a town and recruit NPC's from other towns (not player made one's). You specialise in certain things- one town is all about healables, 1 about heavy armour etc (depending on the mechants and npcs you take in), you can set up trade routes with other npc and players made towns where you have to negotiate on the pricing/amounts. While doing this you have to go and gather resources but random quests are put in your way "a Griffin has nested along the trade route to the east and its destroying our wagons, we need you to sort it out" so you go and do it etc. You can invite other players to your town to grow it to a city and their towns turn into npc towns (which have RNG whether or not they continue being successful or implode from within) in the end the aim is to create a thriving 20 player city with a higharachy with each person as the expert in their field from the leader all the way through to the blacksmith. Make it so that NPC's max out at 50 but players go to 75 and then in expansions as more land is discovered NPCs go to 75 and players 100 etc.

    • @drewfoster6138
      @drewfoster6138 3 месяца назад

      You need to structure the buildings (like actual grind needed to make them 1000 logs and 2000 brick for a house (takes like week of solid graft and back and forth, or you can invest in NPC and they can use wagons and stuff but this makes you susceptible of RNG things like all your wagons being destroyed by creatures etc or thieves- so its up to you if you take the risk which could backfire or hard graft it)

    Force, keep it up with the great content! I'm really looking forward to this game. I really liked the first one, but I found the upgrade system fiddly and annoying especially late game to figure out where to get the materials to make upgrades. I hope they streamlined that process in the sequel to be a bit less painful.

    i think the coverage is only "light" because there's been a lot to cover. Granblue Fantasy Relink surprised many. Helldivers 2 was highly anticipated by those who played it and roped in a bunch more new fans to the series.
    And there are several other big releases right around the corner. Seems Dragon's Dogma 2 is just gettin caught up in the shuffle a bit, although it's definitely deserving of spotlight

    As long as the game is at least as good as Dragon's Dogma 1, I'll be happy.
    If it also is as good as the Dark Arisen expansion was, then I'll be even more happy.
    Anything beyond that is a welcome but not necessary bonus.

    I really hope DD2 keeps its old leveling system as well. It is personally important to me that our base stats take on a noticeable role in the customization of our characters. If I make a warrior pawn and another person makes a warrior pawn, i dont want the only things separating them to be their appearances or gear. What i mean by that is that I liked how my warrior pawn may have had better defense or attack compared to the other even if they were the same level and had similar gear. Stats play a big role in how our characters will interact with the biggest element of this game which happens to be the combat. I want my personal choices to have consequences and/or reward me.
    Moreover , for the people who keep bringing that stat allocaton seen in the demo cut it out. If I switch vocations it would be quite irksome if my hard earned stats as warrior or fighter disappeared just because i want to be a wizard for a little while. If I didn't level as a wizard for 100 levels, then I expect to have low magic, and im cool with that. Plus, did anyone stop to consider that the reason they have stat allocation in the demo was solely to show off the different classes in the game without having you reload the demo multiple times ???? It's common sense to do that for demonstration, so to say that's what we should expect in the actual game is a little bit ridiculous. Nothing has been confirmed. HOWEVER, I do THINK to rectify this issue and to find common ground the devs should at least offer respeccing as an option in the game.

    On the matter of target locking : I’ve been playing Monster Hunter from the very first on PSP to the last on PC, I have absolutely never used target locking.
    Orienting the camera as I move my character is part of the gameplay, and it feels great.
    On every Souls game I always avoid using target locking whenever I can.
    And I’ve always played heavy armor on Souls and still use mostly dodge/roll. I’m happy DD2 is proposing something different.

    A year ago I regrettably had no idea what Dragons Dogma was. Now after having played the first game, DD2 is my most anticipated game of the year. I cannot wait! The first game filled a void in RPG’s that I didn’t even really know existed at least for my tastes. Though having played it I feel other RPG’s have been ruined for me. A fast and fun action combat system, with a vast living world to explore, and versatile companions! Those are just the highlights because it has everything else any other RPG would. I need it to be March 22 already.

      Comparing even dd1 and Elden Ring, I'd choose dragons dogma every time.
      The combat and actual gameplay of ER was shallow, repetitive and a chore.
      Light attack -> i frame roll -> light attack -> I frame roll -> wait for boss to finish his attack sequence -> light attack *oooh a stagger, time for a crit* -> light attack -> I frame roll...repeat.

    • @godly_potatoe69xd19
      @godly_potatoe69xd19 3 месяца назад +1

      @@anthonyplaysbasselden ring has better music, armor, enemy designs (in terms of looks, the combat rlly comes down to preference), story, quests, level design; and areas than dragons dogma. so I’m hoping dd2 has a mix with Great combat but also the music and armor designs and enemy designs and unique areas.

    • @anthonyplaysbass
      @anthonyplaysbass 3 месяца назад

      @@godly_potatoe69xd19 uh, how about the copy paste bosses or same mobs over and over and over again in ER? it's the same as dd1 and that's a ten year old game.
      And the combat...alll soulsbourne are just hack at feet, roll, repeat.

    • @godly_potatoe69xd19
      @godly_potatoe69xd19 3 месяца назад +2

      @@anthonyplaysbass like you said, also an issue in Dd1, and because of how saves work and how most bosses are not unique or really bosses in a sense, and are more larger enemies with more health, you also will have copy paste bosses in dragons dogma 2. If you want to simplify the combat to that you can, but I could also simplify the world to a couple hills and a desert. Obviously there’s basic classifications we can make to tear each others argument apart because we disagree, but that doesn’t really get us anywhere does it? Sure the basic gameplay is rolling and I frames, but bosses have always been amazing in the souls series past ds1 dlc and even with some of the bosses there such as ornstein and smough. Even if you dislike the combat of souls, you gotta admit they put a lot into their designs when it’s a unique boss, the storylines are pretty creative, and the music is great. Most ppl want more of the game for the feeling the first playthrough and areas and music gave them, which fromsoft dlcs always improve, it has almost nothing to do with individual player combat for most nonpvpers. Dragons dogma never had the ability to keep me thinking abt bosses, music (other than flying into free, eternal return, and the large boss theme) after I played it, even though I wanted a lot more of its individual player combat. And your idea of hack and roll doesn’t really make sense when the way Elden ring plays only really came into play in ds3. Dark souls is much clunkier, dark souls 2 is slower and more methodical, sekiro has a completely different combat system, and bloodborne has rolls but its very rarely the movement you use as the game is faster, has the trick weapons and guns, and requires fast quick steps instead. Your modern idea of souls games isn’t very consistent if you’re not counting elden ring and ds3, and even then, it’s their first attempt so I understand the flaws and the whole outweighed the flaws even though it’s not my favorite souls game. Nobody was even comparing ds or dd, ppl are just excited cuz now they understand the idea of not copy pasting, and what elements players like more, so they can implement them better in dlc, I mean a lot of the game was cut out (oh wow same thing happened to dragons dogma) and were still acknowledging the flaws and good aspects of both dd and elden ring, I’d assume if ur willing to allow that for dd it makes sense to also allow Elden ring to fix it’s mistakes. Even so, like the op said, shadow of the erdtree isn’t even out yet, so there’s nothing to compare to on that front, and we’ll have to see.

In Fact I have semi-seriously considered calling it Dodge Stab / Dodge Souls. That was something I LOVED About the Original Dragon's Dogma was the Monster Fights, and grappling onto the big ones!

    I can't describe how happy I am that Capcom is releasing this sequel. DDDA is one of my all-time favorite games ever made and seeing the sequel get this much mainstream attention makes me even happier. The original was such an underground hit for years, but having the sequel get this much attention just shows how many other people picked up the original and fell in love just like I did.
    I'm hoping this game will be even better than what I'm hoping for. I'm so hopeful I even pre-ordered it, which I've always sworn off as a scam. So don't let me down Itsuno.
