    what's interesting to me is that some of the aspect of this game, like the intractable environment for example, are ideas they've had for a long time but just not necessarily the technology until now. things like the dam bursting trap are reminiscent of something they did in Monster Hunter World, though in MT framework so a different engine. that game was in development pretty much since MH4U released in 2015 so the interactable environments have been cooking and iterated on for almost 10 years. the director of Dragon's Dogma, HIdeaki Itsuno, had the ideas for this IP since he was in school. it was his baby but do to time, budget, and technical limitations at the time the original game had to make a lot of compromises. the sequel is set to be way closer to his original vision. he even passed up on making it, in place of DMC5, likely to wait for better technology and well... without covid it likely would have released much closer to the 10th anniversary of the original. the RE engine is insane, from what they've been able to pull off with it so far, so i can't wait to see them push it even further with games like DD2 and MH Wilds.
    they totally intend for this series to continue, early on in the marketing they said that it's using parallel worlds. this isn't just to not have to stick to things from the original while letting them keep the stuff they want, as part of the IP's unique identity for a sequel. no, they are setting this up so they can make as many of these games as they want in the future and i'm all in.
    if trickster's colors (purple/pink) follow the usual rules, each having 2 classes (basic/advanced), and have hybrids with all the others like in the first game we will have 27 vocations total. i'm so hyped for this possibility. a while ago, i had an idea for something like the trickster but that was just a theoretical hybrid of mage and thief.
    the reviewer concern is legitimate but that's more the reviewers' fault. there should be a good mix of people who are familiar with the ame and those tha aren't. ideally the best/most viewed reviews getting the rounds in the conversation will be done as a discussion between at least 2 people with perspectives from both sides of familiarity and lack ther of to balance it out.

    To be fair, I actually wish modern RPG's would go back to the more vague quest directions of older RPG's-like Morrowind-or modern day equivalents like BotW, BG3 & Dragon's Dogma. I recently started playing DD & foolishly went to Gran Soren as fast as I could.....which left me massively under-leveled for all the quests after that. So I had to restart & took my time in the opening area second time around.....& am now finding the game much easier as a result.

      Many studios don't want to take the time for that anymore, writing good quest directions takes a lot of time compared to slapping a marker on a minimap and being done.

    I'm super hyped for DD2, and I’m a big fan of the first game, so I know what I'm getting myself into, I was just hoping for a little more forgiving fast travel system. Being so limited in fast travel options was my only big gripe about the original, but I haven't seen anything in the coverage of this game that makes me believe it will be much different, which is disappointing.

    I feel like dragons dogma is the closest we'll get to a virtual dungeons and dragons game that isn't a top down crpg like baldurs gate or pillars of eternity. I don't get why people are "scared" of that? Or at least that's how you portray it in this video. Isn't this exactly what we wannted all along, this whole time?

    I feel like any concerns about how much content will be in this game while understandable aren't as warranted for the sequel. I could be wrong on that fact, but I don't believe it will be an issue because I had read somewhere that the lack of content for the first game came from two things.
    The first being the fact that the technology at the time couldn't keep up and do everything they wanted to put into the game, which leads in to the second problem.
    Because they couldn't make everything work, 60% of the content that was supposed to be in the game got cut, which left us with 40% of what the game was supposed to be.
    So I'm not sure about anyone else, but if we only got 40% of the intended product last time and it still felt like a full game, then the sequel should have been able to fill in the gaps and give us what was originally intended. I believe that Dragon's Dogma 2 will exceed all expectations in the end and deliver what was originally promised in the first release and more.

    Two things I'm not concerned about because I've basically written them off without knowing anything further: UI and narrative. I played dd da with a spellcaster and I got bored, because leveling basically the spell you learn are the typical elemental stuff some buffs/debuffs, and when you get enough points to level up your character is like you level up your fire spell tier 1 to tier 2 and thats it

    • @CalamityCain
      @CalamityCain 5 месяцев назад

      Progress feels a bit slow as a mage, yeah. But levelling up the sorcerer was mindblowing fun to me. When you get to cast a meteor shower and the whole screen shakes and you acutally one-hit the whole screen, that to me was the ultimate wizardry power fantasy. This time around you unlock very nice qualitiy of life support skills like quick spell and channeling/meditating to quickly replenish the stamina to just keep on casting. I hope you'll be able to have some fun, this time around, or find your perfect mage in another great game 😊
      By the way: What is a great magician class in gaming for you specifically? 'Cause I really enjoyed that vocation in DD so much, I'd really appreciate the input

    • @insertaunnombreaqui
      @insertaunnombreaqui 5 месяцев назад +1

      ummm the spellcasting that I always highlight is from morrowind, outdated, clunky, ugly, slow whatever you want, that game is amazing because you can create your own spells, I think oblivion also you can do that, but for some reason bethesda dropped that mechanic...as an arpg junky I would mention Last Epoch, releases very soon and the runemaster master class is also really fun and something I haven't seen before in rpg games...I dont know if you consider "summoner" archetypes as magicians, but if you do, necromancer from path of exile is huge very deep and complex since you have several types of minions (buffs, duration minions, permanent, and minions with hp) and well path of exile itself is a deep game, well that are the spellcasting classes that I like a lot, I will still keep an eye on dd2 and I hope capcom releases another good games which are much needed in these days @@CalamityCain

    You forgot to talk about the lack of fast travel when talking about adventuring. DD isn't like Skyrim or something where you can teleport wherever you've been before, the game is designed with going on long adventures in mind with multiple ways to get to and from everywhere. I assume DD2 will be the same because camping is a big part of it now too, and it seems like portcrystals might still be a thing but those are intentionally limited so that you don't rely on them constantly.

    A lot of good points, I especially agree with the one that says it's their first open world RPG. This is the first time they are truly given everything they need to make one, and it's time to see what about the first game felt undercooked because of budget restraints and what is a problem in design. With all due respect to DMC, an open world game is another beast entirely, and story was one of DMC's weaker aspect.
    There won't be any excuses here. Everything that will feel underwhelming will not get a pass, there aren't any budget or time constraints now.
