yes Justin your rite. it all matches. tho, id like to come up on pieces as i go, like in your set up, just a kick snare and hats, and a module. but i don't know why they have to match, if they didn't match, it would be a true custom kit. ugh, i love e drums, its just so overwhelming with all the different pieces. i am obsessed with electronic drums, tho its a very expensive hobby..
Yes, he stopped building his kick drum triggers. However, he still has some of them in stock as he told me. And he considers to start the business again. If you are interested in one of his kick drum trigger systems, let me know. I can make contact.
It makes me so sad this this channel has gone quiet. Best V-Drum channel on RUclips without a doubt. I'm sure the creator has legitimate reasons for not uploading anymore. Hopefully we will hear from him again in the future. Thank you for the content you have already given the community!
Most ultimate E kit ever. The detail of the trigger set ups inside the shells is wow. You thought of everything with this kit. If you had to buy from a company. ..all this stuff new....20 grand!
Blake Gowan Haha, thanks:) Maybe not 20. R-Drums makes triggers that are not cheap, but I think the whole set new with nice triggers would be 4000€. You should really check the Blackbird kit, the guy built a monster e-drum set for 6k. Check v-drumsticks.com for an article. He is also on RUclips, it is a huge black kit:)
Really hard to tell. I bought and sold a lot. Sometimes I bought full kits and sold the parts, but only kept what I need. The current value is around 3500$ I’d say. But I have not paid as much myself. It was also not bought like this in one go, but grew over time.
EVERY person that makes tutorial videos need you to give them lessons, yours are the best IMHO! I would be interested in your video production workflow, you make some killer videos. The ATH-M40x are great phones. Also, I have to say it is your channel that got me deeply into e-drums, starting with the TD-4, and now a TD-9 with the V2 upgrade on USB. A HUGE Thank You for all you do!
Thank you, but there are still things that can be improved:) I will make kind of a general Video that is related to drum covers. Yes, I like the headphones too. Cool, do you still have the files with the USB2 Upgrade?
This is possibly the best Ekit setup I've ever seen what was your first drum kit ever also how did you get the cool looking paint surrounding the drum heads
Thank you. My first e-drumset was a cheap Fame Kit:) I wrapped the shells myself. I linked the video about that in the video description. It is called A2E conversion series:) Check my 10000 subscriber video if you want to see my drum kit evolution:)
"does it djent" is the new "that's so punk" and it's literally the lamest thing ever. Why do people constantly feel the need to associate themselves with some pseudo-counter-culture sub-genre? Awesome and thorough wrap up. Great video. I'm gonna need to watch it a few more times to catch some of the details, in particular the cable management. Some very good ideas sprinkled throughout.

Thats insane. The drum module alone is worth more than my entire kit. I've been building a kit that started out as an Alesis nitro set, slowly adding components of Roland and other brands. My next step is to custom make a snare and floor tom from shells converted from acoustic to electric. I often scour places looking for deals on mesh head triggers and cymbals mostly. Still have a long way to go.
Great work buddy!! I love the look of this kit. I had one of them drum kits many many years ago. loved it. The wrap looks beautiful and the trigger looks high quality. Congrats on that. Thnk you for sharing mate. All the best
Craig Budge Thank you! I like the wrap too, just sometimes think I should have taken the same effect wrap in white Color:) Why don't you have a set anymore?
Thanks for your reply mate. In my opinion I think you made the right colour choice. I think white would look great but that colour just looks amazing!! The pearl rhythm traveller kit was my granddads and he needed it back so I brought my own drum kit. Now playing the TD30K and I love it!! Dude I'm subscribing for more videos!!
Totally over-engineered, which makes it basically amazing, haha. Absolutely incredible work. I always thought the Rhythm Traveler would be a good conversion project.
this is such a great channel. glad i found it years ago. Jealous of your setup dude! maybe you could make some videos about where to find drumless tracks or getting into a band!
kiopl2003 thank you, glad you're watching:) I know the feeling. A few years ago I was looking at hufe drum sets in the same way. But thanks got I never took a loan and upgraded piece by piece. thanks for your suggestions
How do you get on with it compared to an acoustic? I'm just in the process of getting Yamaha to build me essentially 2x frankensteined DTX-10's to make a 12 piece fully customised E kit with duel module.
Man, that was an awesome, very well put together video about an outstanding, well assembled, sharp looking kit. I've been thinking about making my own electric kit. I bought the very first kit Roland released with mesh heads and loved them. I am not a pro, just love playing drums. After my first child was born I had to sell my Rolands and it killed my soul to do so. Anyway, great video and i love your kit. You did an amazing job.
Ben Mayo Hey Ben, thanks for you comment. I hope you will get another drum set soon. I think you can have both, kid and kit:D My set was not even that expensive, because I bought it bit by bit and resold other components.
Vdrum Tips I have 4 kiddos now, but I wholeheartedly intend on having another kit and I'd have to do it a little at a time. My 6 year old son would love them just as much and we could do it together for a little father/son project that we'd both enjoy. Thanks again for the awesome video. It really set that fire off in me that slowly dies down as life starts happening. Playing drums used to be my release after a sucky day at work and I need that back in my life.
6:34 I think it should be possible to replace the 9000's chain drive with a Sonor Perfect Balance strap www.thomann.de/ie/sonor_perfect_balance_pbp_strap.htm : certainly the Perfect Balance is designed so that the strap can be replaced by a standard 5000-style chain, so very probably the reverse is possible too. The Giant Step strap www.thomann.de/ie/sonor_gss_silent_strep.htm should work as well.
Nice job brother its one of the best and most beautiful conversion i have ever seen. One question though. Would this kit work with a pearl mimic pro sound module or roland is the only way?
Hey VDrum. Your videos are amazing. This conversion is amazing. I have a question. I'm a Pearl e-Pro user and I'm going to give this away to a friend and get a custom kit made and start over. So, my question is, if you can make up a dream setup without DIY. What setup would you use? What Snare, Kick, and Tom triggers would you use as well as cymbals and module? It's hard to go through so many videos on one specific thing. I'd rather ask a pro like you :). Thanks!
Depends on what you define as DIY. For me DIY means drilling, soldering,... For others, taking a screwdriver means DIY. My dream Setup would be a Roland TD-50 with PD-140 Snare, RD-18 Ride, VH-13 Hihat (Black), only CY-15 cymbals as crashed. CY-12, 13 and 14 as splashes, Auxillary Hihat on the right side. Triggers for the Toms, clearly R-Drums RTS. Bass Drum: Wronka Trigger. Pedal (What feels good for you). Mesh Heads: Drum-tec Reel Feel 3 Ply (They are the best meshes) Gear from Gibraltar. The shell set of a nice Pearl or Tama. This would be the best of the best:)
Haha, yes, I meant the screwdriver DIY ;). The click-to-order stuff that you put together :P. I ended up going with all R-Drum triggers, even for the bass drum and Drum-tec Real Feel mesh heads. I'm waiting to see if the Pearl Mimic Pro is worth it and can utilize all the features of Roland cymbals. If not, I might go with Jobeky / Field cymbals and a VH-13 HH. So we'll see!
Jordan Stout Well, if the Mimic Pro struggles with Roland Cymbals, it will mostlikely have bigger problems with Field or Jobeky cymbals. They are not plug and play and require many adjustments.
This is the first of your videos that I've seen but I very much like your thoroughness, logical presentation, and attention to detail. I will DEFINITELY be watching your other videos since I've been wanting to make a custom kit like yours. One question I have before venturing into this project is about modules. If you're primarily using the sounds in EZ Drummer, is an expensive module like the TD30 worth it or can you get a similar result from a less expensive module (Roland or other?)
Allen Ash Thanks:) Well I use EZdrummer for recording projects, for practice and jamming I always use the module. EZdrummer does not require much. A Roland TD-9 would be good enough. Superior drummer on the other hand required a better module with positional sensing, if you want to use all features. So it depends on what you want to do. My reason for the TD-30 is positional sensing, the huge number of outputs, the sound editing features and the volume sliders. But I would be happy with an old TD-20X too. It is a question of need. I NEED a TD-20X for what I am doing, but I WANT the TD-30:)
Great vid, you are as good as Drum-Tec and Roland together! Deutsche Gründlichkeit! Althought I use aTD 30 too, I have two questions (being a noob at the technical side of things): - How did you manage to have that amount of cymbals on your TD 30? - How to get a proper foot splash on a VH 11? In my case it is not responding at all! Thanks.
I guess it depends on effort vs. convenience. I love DIY projects but my kit has been in limbo for a couple of years now, I can see the appeal of buying a fully ready kit from Roland.
Definitely, DIY means effort and sometimes thing doesn't work out. But buying a good trigger and screwing it into a drum shell is not really DIY for me. It is more assembling. You are right, having a complete kit is nice too. Everything works out of the box.
Hi guys, awesome video! One question: I have a TDK-20 which is around 7 years old. I believe it needs some maintenance since the sensibility is behaving differently compared to when I first played it. I have read some material talking about replacing the cones, but I could not find anything more precise. Do you guys have something on that? Thanks for the great job and keep on druming!
GREAT JOB MAN! This inspire me to convert my Fame practice kit which has almost same shell sizes. Please tell me what did you use for the rim edge downside of the toms? Keep on (e)-drummin'
jezusmylord I have the ATV ride and yes, I got it after making this video. The ATV Ride is definitely nicer and looks cooler. The behaviour is also better than the CY-15, however, I have a little issue with it. A part of the edge zone is dead. The long term test is ongoing.
Justo Calderón That is really hard to say, since I bought and sold components during the process. I think normally would spend something like 3500 (since it is all second hand and DIY), but I spent probably much less.
Hi Rachel, it took many hours, but it is hard to say how many, as I filmed everything and you would not do this normally. The money is also hard to say, since I bought full drum kits and sold stuff, but kept other components. But if you would buy this kit second hand, it would have a value of 3500€.
Lord Zee Those are rubbers and I got them from R-Drums. But I don't know where they have bought them. They do not sell them anymore. But these rubbers are perfect.
At this moment i am looking for some cheap drums to convert into electronics and looking for a good drum module for positional sensing for the snare drum. The snare drum is going to be a Roland. And looking for some cool wrap (maybe sunburst or black but not metalic)
Niels Willemse Nice, send me a picture when you are done:) Just to let you know, I have a TD-20x module for sale, in great condition. Send me a mail if you are interested:)
Hi mate! Great video. As I said it's nice to hear your voice. Very pleasant (not that your GF voice was bad, quite the opposite, but you're also great to hear). Anyway, I'm really curious about cones. You are using R-Drums cone, even if in your "cheap A2E conversion" video you used a 682Drums orange cone. I am actually using 682Drums since forever (Alesis Mesh-head conversion kit and now cones for my DIY 22x18 bass drum conversion (and in near future all new toms and snare). How IYO the two brands compare? Is the 682drums appearing in the "cheap" conversion video accidentally or you imply them to be cheaper and less reliable? One last thing that can be of interest: I had severe problems of double triggering on my bass too (2ply 682drums mesh, really elastic). I tried with module settings and I wasn't able to solve them (at least not without being unable to do 16th notes at 140+ bpms due to heavy retriggering suppression). I was almost desperate until I put those noise-dampening foam panels (this one: img.mercatinomusicale.com/p_z/57/31/4003157_1423857892.jpg) all around the inner side of the shell. I made the panels sides press the batter head and cut the exceeding 10cm off the resonant side. I did this to suppress the slight noise coming off the drum (I also added a circle-cutted dampening panel glued inside the resonant head) but it accidentally ended up eliminating ALL double triggering issues. The batter head seems muffled in terms of rebounce (much more realistic) and the wild triggering went totally away, no matter how low I set my retrigger parameter. This seem to be a very cheap and effective solution to the problem. Sadly I didn't took shots of the process, but I can make some photos of the finished result, if you want. I'm really happy with the result: at 170bpms I don't get a single double stroke. That's also where my feet begin to fail... :D
Thank you:) The cones from 682 drums are too soft and do not move fast enough. The foam has to have a quick response. But this is only important for High-end modules. The 682 mesh heads are not good. I tested them once and they are too stretchy. No wonder that you had too much rebound. I like the DIY improvisation, but the inner perfectionist inside of me wants to have all perfect:) But I would like to see what you have built.
Hi Anthony. I'm planning to publish a post on Medium with a long list of "what I'd like I knew before" regarding the bass-drum and another drum-hacking project I did. Write me at stickgrinder@gmail.com and I'll send you the link to the post. If you want I can provide my advices and information directly. Feel free to ask. Cheers
iheartcomps It is promising. I hope it works well in terms of triggering, cause I like the sounds. It has many things that e-drummers wanted for years, such as many inputs (more than TD-30 and 50) a modern screen, many individual outs and so on. It will have a big impact. However, the touch screen is a weakness and it misses positional sensing, but other than that, it would me an option for me too.
Looks great, i don't have the skills nor the place to construct something similar, so i could build something with two pieces of wood like a cross and construct that with the piezo elements. But first, i need some cheap drums. Do you have building instructions? Thanks from Holland.
just WOW my friend! This is what i would build if i won the lottery, haha! Right now though i'm about to upgrade from my old crappy Medeli (ugh) kit to a TD11KV.
carmichaelthrone.com/drum-thrones-15/ I've been looking at this one for the simple reason that there seems to be "air" that ventilate the area that usually makes contact with the seat.
If I don't mistake Evolution Drum Gear sells Carmichael DT in Europe. I was discussing an endorsement for Off-Set pedals they produce but had lots of troubles getting in touch. I guess they are still a small company and have a hard time keeping up with contacts/customers (not sure of what I'm saying, it may have been just an unfortunate case). Anyway they are very kind and the prices are reasonable for such good quality stuff. If you are in europe you may want to send them an e-mail.
A lot of thought and Hardwork went into that set up
65 Drums Thanks Justin. It was a lot of effort but also fun to build it:)

Slicklickz It is a 30$ throne:D I replaced it with a very good Pearl Roadster Throne.
@@Vdrumtips1 I meant that you'll only get $10 for it when you try to sell it.
dude this is the first time I've ever thought an e-kit was "bad ass". if you threw a second bass on it, it would be insane
Thank you! There is a dude that has a bad ass kit with 2 bass drums: ruclips.net/video/SdcU8fwqJys/видео.html
why not use the pearl mimic pro module?
Simply, good Job! Content well prepared. Thanks for sharing 🎶👍🏻
Thomas Michael Thanks Michael.
It is amazing that it hasn't shrunk considering your kit is set up right next to the radiator.
Haha, the radiator is off for most of the time. But it is not ideal to have it there.
Great vid, you are as good as Drum-Tec and Roland together! Deutsche Gründlichkeit!
Althought I use aTD 30 too, I have two questions (being a noob at the technical side of things):
- How did you manage to have that amount of cymbals on your TD 30?
- How to get a proper foot splash on a VH 11? In my case it is not responding at all!
Thanks.
Jeroen Vermunt I just used all inputs of the TD-30 module. Just set up the VH-11 as per instruction. It should be possible to footsplash the cymbal.
Thanks, by the way, I just saw your vid '5 ways to connect...' Clear.
Sweet set.
Great kit! How does it compare in price to say a Roland TD-50 rig?
Hard to say, as I bought most of it used. But it is definitely much cheaper as a TD-50KV.
Jut wow, amazing kit
Hi guys, awesome video! One question: I have a TDK-20 which is around 7 years old. I believe it needs some maintenance since the sensibility is behaving differently compared to when I first played it. I have read some material talking about replacing the cones, but I could not find anything more precise. Do you guys have something on that? Thanks for the great job and keep on druming!
Check this one:) ruclips.net/video/Lvrof45BHic/видео.html
I recommend buying the original cones from Roland support.
Awesome! I saw that video before, I will check it again. Do you think that old mesh heads can make an impact on the sensibility as well?
No, only when they are damaged. It is most likely the cones. You can restore the whole set for approx. less than 100$. Best investment:D
Best news of the week then :) Thanks again!!!
Nice job,looks real good
demonocus drumocus Thanks man!
Amazing job, respect
Does it spark joy?
it sparks a lot of joy
GREAT JOB MAN! This inspire me to convert my Fame practice kit which has almost same shell sizes. Please tell me what did you use for the rim edge downside of the toms?
Keep on (e)-drummin'
gita soekanta I bought some special rubber in U shape from R-drums. But they dont sell this anymore. It is very expensive material.
Goddamn this is beautiful...
I wish I could afford something like this
Thanks, it was not as expensive as you might think. I bought most parts second hand.
Looks amazing!!! It's a DIY? ( yes it is ahah) where can I buy the cymbals cleaner?
Thanks Arlindo! Yeah, partially DIY:) The link for the cleaner is in the description.
Isint the ATV ride better for a ride? i think you said it yourself its the best ride there is (analogwise) but i think it was AFTER this video
jezusmylord I have the ATV ride and yes, I got it after making this video. The ATV Ride is definitely nicer and looks cooler. The behaviour is also better than the CY-15, however, I have a little issue with it. A part of the edge zone is dead. The long term test is ongoing.
Iisnt that like a production flaw that qualifies it for warranty? @@Vdrumtips1
WELCOME TO V-DRRUMS TIPS
Fantastic work, Sir! Bravo!
Awesome set!! about how much did it cost you?
Justo Calderón That is really hard to say, since I bought and sold components during the process. I think normally would spend something like 3500 (since it is all second hand and DIY), but I spent probably much less.
That's awesome!
Hey friend, can I ask how much did it cost (in terms of money, time and complexity!)
Hi Rachel, it took many hours, but it is hard to say how many, as I filmed everything and you would not do this normally. The money is also hard to say, since I bought full drum kits and sold stuff, but kept other components. But if you would buy this kit second hand, it would have a value of 3500€.
What do u have at the buttom of the shell? Are those rubber? Where can i get them?
Lord Zee Those are rubbers and I got them from R-Drums. But I don't know where they have bought them. They do not sell them anymore. But these rubbers are perfect.
Amazing kit. But where is the extra tom coming from, knowing the pearl traveler kit is a 5 piece kit.
Thanks, I got lucky and found another single 12" tom before I started with the project:)
I don't have the money to buy that, shame and pitty.
Thank you:)
The cones from 682 drums are too soft and do not move fast enough.
Paolo Pustorino I would love to see photos of this, I am converting a 22" very soon, any extra advice or tips would be great.
Cheers
why do you not play at the end?
where can i find a video of you playing it
DW_Drummer It is mentioned in the video and at the end there is a link.
Does anyone know if these types of DIY pads work with other brand brains?
Great kit and great video!
Thanks Edu!
what do you think about the mimic pro?
iheartcomps It is promising.
I do like these videos! keep up the good work 😊
Thank you for your comment:)
how much money did it cost in american dollars?
Wow very cool !
Whooow!!! Verry Nice!!!
Absolutely amazing! :)
Where did you bought these trigger units?
I made them myself.
Looks great, i don't have the skills nor the place to construct something similar, so i could build something with two pieces of wood like a cross and construct that with the piezo elements. But first, i need some cheap drums. Do you have building instructions? Thanks from Holland.
No sorry Niels, no instructions, apart from my videos. Not everybody needs to have skills, that is why you can buy stuff:)
Excellent!
Richtig nice!! Cooles Video :D
Danke, hat viel Arbeit gemacht:)
just WOW my friend! This is what i would build if i won the lottery, haha! Right now though i'm about to upgrade from my old crappy Medeli (ugh) kit to a TD11KV.
Well, you don't need to win the lottery:) Just always upgrade step by step and do not overspend.
I thought you put in the letters PDX -10000000
Cost?
Ha, take that acoustic snobs, WE ARE EQUALS
We don't have to be equal:) We just need to stop being snobs:D
Sorry no way drums or ever going to equal real acoustic drums sorry buddy no way
NICE KIT 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Just PERFECT!!!!
Rebecca Forbes Well, there are some things I'd like to change.
I'm guessing around 10g's
haha. 'places where the sun doesn't shine'
:D
Which throne model are you considering ?
Emond Jeremie I have no idea yet. One that is solid and where you don't sweat so fast.
carmichaelthrone.com/drum-thrones-15/
I've been looking at this one for the simple reason that there seems to be "air" that ventilate the area that usually makes contact with the seat.
I Like Your Drum
How much was the cost?
less than 3000$, cause it is self-made and second hand.
I've combined a Millenium MPS-850 with an Alesis Turbo Mesh! Wanna see?
Nice video man! :)
Why dont you use ATV cymbals? Just saying..
Neil GuitarWorkhouse Why don’t you check the upload date of this video and compare it with the release date of ATV cymbals? Just saying :)
Ein Tipp von mir: Du kannst auch In-Ear-Headphones mit einem Ohrschützer verwenden. Das ist viel Preiswerter und isoliert auch unglaublich gut. :-)
In theory can you change out virtually any module?
depends on the compatibility of the pads
