  • You´ll find all of the mesh heads here in our shop:
    www.drum-tec.de...
    This video compares our 4 different mesh head lines for e-drums in terms of playability/rebound as well as noise level. Their development & construction is based on 10 years of experience working exclusively with e-drums.
    We advise you to use headphones or a good amplifying system while watching, so you can precisely hear & see the differences between the heads!
    1) drum-tec design mesh head:
    best seller ++ white ++ double ply ++ quietly ++ very good rebound ++ best trigger results ++ long life
    This professional mesh head was initially designed for our high-end electronic drum series drum-tec pro + drum-tec diabolo, but also gets used to upgrade Roland or Alesis mesh kits sometimes. Since 2006, the design mesh head is our best selling model and and a very good all-rounder for all applications.
    2) drum-tec real feel mesh head:
    white ++ triple layer ++ quietly ++ unique real feel rebound ++ perfect trigger results ++ very long life -
    Three layers of highest-grade fabric material reduce the rebound to almost the exact level of an acoustic kit. The real feel mesh head visually represents our premium level product and still is almost as quiet as the design mesh heads. Never before has e-drumming been more authentic!
    3) drum-tec pro mesh head: black:
    ++ one ply ++ very thick material ++ higher basic volume ++ very authentic rebound.
    This highly durable mesh head has been developed specifically for e- drummers, who desire a maximum of authentic feel. The infamous "tennis racket effect” is almost completely eliminated by the pro´s special fabric material, the playing feel is absolutely authentic. This results in a somewhat higher basic volume, which makes it nice for practicing without a sound module also.
    drum-tec basic mesh head:
    white or black ++ one ply ++ almost noiseless ++ strong rebound
    Well made mesh head with good price / performance ratio to trigger an acoustic set or for use on e-drum pads. The Basic Series is also a cost-effective bottom/resonant mesh head .
    Feel free to ask any question you might have, we´ll be glad to help!
    Video shot @ drum-tec West / Spytunes Recording Studio, Mainz.

    Your videos are some of the most informative and helpful videos I've ever seen! They are so clarifying for someone who is a potential customer, in order to understand the differencies between products! Saying so, I would like to suggest a different editing though, that would provide even more clear information: You'd rather present the natural sound take of each product in sequence and then the triggered takes in sequence again, instead of natural and then triggered for each one. That way it would be easier for the viewer to compare the behaviour between the different products for each case (natural, triggered). Beside that, keep up this excellent work!

    I read a question asking how to reduce volume with the real feel and another asking about retaining the drums tone. To reduce the volume you could simply place a basic mesh head on the resonant or have no resonant at all. If you wish to reduce the volume but retain the basic tone of the drum then you could place any normal drum head on the resonant side with any mesh head on the batter side. I personally like the second option as it allows me to practice quietly without having to turn on my drum module. However of you live in an apartment then the first option is better.

    I just recieved my "real feel" 12 inch for the snare of my acoustic to electronic conversion. It is beautiful (very white, can't see through it) and feels AMAZING ! When tuned right, it's the closest thing to a real drum head I ever tried ! Maybe I'm gonna order some for all my toms too! But at least I have the snare. I also ordered the rim silencer. That thing is REALLY HARD to install and it's very thick ! But once you get it there, it makes the rim more silent then any other. Good job, Drum-tec!

      Can you explain to me how does this work?

  • @MarkusWolff
    @MarkusWolff 8 лет назад +5

    Personally, I've tried the white Design heads, the black Pro heads and the semi-transparent basic heads. The only reason I haven't tried the real feel ones yet is that the ones I stuck with (SPOILER ALERT: The white Design heads) still last - they're extremely durable and the real feel heads were not yet available when I bought my last set of heads (okay, maybe besides durability it also helps that I got kids in the meantime and don't have much time to play anymore, but I digress...).
    Astonishingly, I liked the black Pro heads the least. They just felt... wrong. The rebound wasn't right. They felt plain dull. Trigger response was not as great as with other heads. And while they did last longer than the basic heads, they still wore out relatively quickly.
    The basic heads are okay-ish: They're cheap, they trigger well, don't make a lot of noise... but they bounce your sticks like a tennis rack - which is okay, if you want to use that to your advantage and develop a super-lazy rebound technique... but that will only work with heads like these and you'll probably ruin your technique for any other type of head in the long run. Also, these things have no durability whatsoever. And since you'll have to replace them every few weeks, they aren't really that cheap in the long run.
    The white Design heads are super great. Rebound almost exactly like on a regular non-mesh drum head. Super durable. Great trigger response. Go get them and love them :-)

    What mesh head would you recommend for kick drums (I have an 8 inch kick drum I'd like to replace the mesh head on). I see that both the Diabolo and pro series kicks have design heads, is this the head you would recommend for kicks (even those of 8 inch size) or is it better to go with the real feel heads for those sizes?

    You guys at drumtec should mount the realfeel on some rubber rims like the rtom black holes to give us the ultimate practice heads: low volume + acoustic tone + perfect rebound + easy installation/removal. I would buy a set in a heartbeat!

      You can put the Real Feel heads on any acoustic shell & use a rim noise eliminator on the drum's rim:
      www.drum-tec.com/rimnoise-eliminator-pro
      You need the drum rim/lugs for tightening the head, otherwise it won't work. Installation is actually very easy & straight forward :) kind regards!

    • @drumtecTV

      Hey Greg, sorry for the "marketing talk" :) both design as well as Real Feel mesh heads trigger accurately & very well. The design head only has 2 layers & is a little thinner, so it might feel just a little bit more sensitive. Therefore, the Real Feels rebound feels even more like an acoustic head, being a 3 layer mesh. Hope that helps a little, both models play & trigger great! :) kind regards

    Hello, I'm trying work out some noise issues on my electric kit and by far the noisiest component is the KD-10 kick drum (my kit is a Roland TD17-KVX). I'm looking to convert one of my acoustic snare drums to a kick drum using a Roland RT-30H. Will the Basic Mesh head be ok for this application (I will be using a double pedal with this). Will it be too bouncy or too weak for a bass drum?

      Hi there, well it is not only about the head in this case, but also about the right amount of dampening to reduce unwanted rebound & retriggering. The drum-tec real feel bass drums (diabolo and pro series) do a very authentic job & feel almost like a real acoustic bass drum with hardly any noise:

    Thanks for this very nice and usefull video. How does the noise level of drum tec heads compare to the basic rubber pad from Roland or their mesh pads ? A similar video for drum tec bass drum will be awesome !

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  8 лет назад

      +Newbiedrum mesh heads in general will deliver a lot less noise than rubber pads. You can find more info on our different mesh head types here in the video info text above (each head is a little different in terms of rebound feeling & noise level). Our standard design heads are pretty equal to the Roland heads in terms of noise, but have a significantly more realistic rebound.
      We actually have a video on the drum-tec realf feel bass drums here on the channel, sadly no noise level demo in there. In direct comparison to the standard Roland bd pads, they are significantly more silent and have a very realistic playing feel (you can "bury" the beater in the head, no unwanted/unrealistic bouncy rebound). Hope that helps a bit! Kind regards

      Hi there, the Real Feel heads have about the same noise level as any other silent mesh head on the market, there is no way to reduce noise levels any further. Are you using rubber protections for your rims (as those are the most noisy parts of the drums when playing rim shots)? What resonant heads are you using on your shells, could it be that your drums resonate in some way when you hit them? Kind regards

      Hi Fabian, well obviously these are different marketing terms for the same positive attributes :) in my personal opinion, both trigger perfectly, while the Real Feel is 1 ply thicker & has a different feel/rebound. If you play mainly pop/rock/groove stuff, I would generally suggest Real Feel. If you prefer a more delicate playing feel comparable to a high tuned jazz kit for example, I would possibly go with the design mesh heads. Both play nice & I do use both on different kits :) Kind regards!

    One has "perfect" trigger results but a different one is "best"?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  7 лет назад

      Yes, sorry for the marketing speach ;-D all heads trigger equally well. It´s more about the rebound/playing feel & noise levels, which makes the heads very different. Kind regards

    which are more realistic the 2 ply or 3?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  8 лет назад

      Hey there, they both play very realistically. In the end its a matter of personal taste, the 3ply Real Feel has a little less rebound, so it´s reacting a little more like an acoustic head. Best would be to test both side by side & see what you like best. Kind regards

      drumtecTV thanks for the 3 reply, I live in an apartment. Would the 3 ply be too loud?

    Hi , how do you set your treshold and other parameters when you trigger superior drummer ? I have a pro drum-tec snare and when I hit the center of the snare the sensitivy is way too high compared to the the others parts of the snare. Almost impossible to play normally. If i set the snare to play normally in the center, the rest of the snare almost doesn't react.

    How ironic, trying to get the quietest sounding drums, haha

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  5 лет назад +1

      Why is that ironic? Mesh heads are mostly being used on electronic drums, to get the most realistic response & playability at a low playing volume (f.e. for appartment use). Kind regards

      @@drumtecTV I understand that completely. I was joking because drums are loud yet we're looking for the quietest options. Just joking obviously, I understand why anyone would want them.

    If they are for electronic drums then why the hell are you only showing them on traditional drums? What's the fucking point?

      +Xcorgi my dear friend, all the drums in this video are electronic drums (as to be heard in the sound demos with the Roland TD-30 module). You can get more info on the drum-tec pro series electronic drums on our website:

      +Xcorgi Many people are interested in the actual noise they cause, since a lot of e-drummers are not allowed to be too noisy regarding through their living situation.
