- This is my unboxing of Black Sabbath's fantastic new Boxset, the 'HAND OF DOOM'. The Boxset consists of the first 8 studio albums and are all PICTURE DISCS. Boxset also includes a Double Sided Poster.

How can anyone not appreciate receiving a new vinyl release enclosed in the band's own personal mailers? That is a real beauty Mike. I can name about three bands that I would love to see do something similar. Thanks for sharing it~

Hi Rob, I must say the outer box is great. I’m trying to hide it from my wife as she’ll try and throw it out! 😂 it’s a beautiful boxset, but Sabbath always do these things well. What bands would you like to see do something similar Rob? Mike
I'd love to have this box set.. I know we want the vinyl.. but, the CD comp 1970-78 is mastered nicely, and really brings out the nuances of these first LP's with the mighty Ozzy !
I’d love to get that Cd comp at some stage JT. Such brilliant run of albums with Ozzy out front. I must admit although this boxset is beautiful and Sabbath put these things together so well, it is really a collectible as opposed to a playable. But I couldn’t resist! 😁 Mike
I don't blame you ! The Cd box is relatively inexpensive , especially used. ( 1970-1978 ) There is an abridged version as well. First time I heard it back in 2002 or so.. I couldn't believe how it brought the early LP's to life.. Great remastering ! "Sweet Leaf" is the stand out on the Cd box.. Really opened it up sonically.

I’m more of a ozzy fan and missed out on the ten year BS boxset a few years ago so i will probs buy this picture disc version aftwr seeing your unboxing. I also noticed i have many of the boxsets that you have on your shef behind you like the rolling stones, the police ect
Hey Mike! Stevie Nicks did the same kind of vanity outer carton on her box set too. Thanks for the shout out! I like the choices they made for the prints, with the exception of Side B of Tech X. Beautiful addition to your collection! Once again, you are the master (of reality) and the unboxing!
😁😁 thanks Steve! Are you tempted? It’s difficult because in reality (master of), it’s a collectible as opposed to a playable. But in saying that, it’s a typical Sabbath high quality boxset. Thank you for the continued boxset recognition! Hope you’re having a great Christmas? Mike

I remember everything about hearing the debut through Sony headphones that my father just bought ( 1970 ) Unbelievable experience.. Got me kick started with harder music from that point on !
What a fantastic debut album. Really set the scene for what was to come. Sabotage has always been my favourite because of when I heard it etc (I think I was 17 years old), I still absolutely love it. What’s your favourite JT? Mike
@pc31thevinylpoliceman I'd say it's still.. PARANOID ! 🤘 Master of Reality and Sabotage are close, but.. No Cigar ! Haha. Love the Ozzy years the most !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 it’s so difficult, but I think Paranoid is probably my second after Sabotage. I think I’m right in saying that Master of Reality is the first album Tony Iommi detuned down a semitone or two to get a more doomy sound. Mike
I'm pretty sure that's right , Mike.. Without looking it up. What.. Tuned down a whole step and single drop D as well.. I think ? The other guys that popularized that was the folkies, and Stephen Stills with a west coast sound ( double drop D ) I wonder if Tony picked up on that and turned it into something absolutely amazingly groundbreaking ! @@pc31thevinylpoliceman

Hi Dave, it’s a beautiful boxset, but it is very pricey to be honest. I would get those first 8 albums first in black vinyl, good listening copies. As I must say these are really collectibles and not really listen to on a regular basis. But Sabbath do seem to maintain a very high quality with there boxsets and reissues. Hope you’re all ok Dave. I enjoyed that unboxing and thanks for sharing. We all know you meant Sabotage when you said Paranoid, and I think it's Sabbath's best album, maybe not the best rock album of all time to me, but pretty close. Awesome stuff, thank you.
Ooops, well spotted Stephen! I try to capture those things when I edit, but as you can see I sometimes fail 😁 Sabotage got me at a very impressionable time (age circa 17 years), and has just stayed with me and in fact has gone deeper over the years. I just love that album. Thanks for watching. Mike

Yes, to be honest a collectible and not really to play K. But it seems Sabbath always produce high quality boxsets so couldn’t resist. Merry Christmas to you. Mike
A very beautiful box of Black Sabbath albums!!! (8 of them, and the six best BS the first six, of course, only "Heaven and Hell" is missing here but it isn't an Ozzy album). Thanks, Mike for showing these beautiful things. Black Sabbath was such a great band!!!! My favorites: are Paranoid, Master of Reality, Vol.4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. But Black Sabbath is very good too and Sabotage is the most heavy rock but I like it (I have on CD just three albums: Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage). Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die are pretty good but a little worse than the first six. Just my opinion Mike!! See You!!!

Nice t-shirt, Mike! Amazing box, but the price! I don't think I have ever bought a new picture disc, but I have some that I have picked up some used copies. It's nice to hear that picture discs sound better than they did in the past. This is a beautiful box set. Good thing this in not an absolute necessity! I'll save my cash for other absolute necessities 🙂
Ahhh yes, the famous ‘I’ve Been Kinked Alive!’ T shirt that is unavailable everywhere! 😂 Glad you like it Brian. Although this boxset is beautiful and so well put together, you’re right it definitely not a necessity. It definitely goes down as a collectible as opposed to a playable (although yes sonic quality much better). But……I couldn’t resist it! Just don’t tell Karen 😂 Mike

I've recently picked up the Scott. Walker '&SunnO Soused LP and Joy Division' Closer from a used record shop but both appear to have never been played.

Just bagged a copy .. good price on Amazon.. and yes it came in the cool original box and a Amazon box .. I’m so stocked…. Will save playing then till the weekend…
Good idea about swapping out those inner sleeves..there really not good for your records..
This should keep me going over the next few weeks before the Tony Martin box drops ..lp set for me on that one ..

Interesting question because I’ve seen several false track listings for the 1st album across different media. The actual listing on the picture disc in the Hand of Doom boxset is Side One 1. Black Sabbath 2. The Wizard 3. Behind the wall of Sleep 4. NIB Side Two 1. Evil Woman 2. Sleeping Village 3. Warning. So no Wicked World. Hope this helps and apologies again. Mike

That was a lovely box within a box. Only a collector would understand the importance of keeping a cardboard box. I hope this will not send you straight to hell for having all the Sabbath music in one box. The art work is nice but a book would have been very fun. Hope you’re having a great Christmas with the family Steve (hon.Mike). Yes, at the cheerful festive time of the year I do seem to be listening to a lot of Sabbath! I hope Santa’s not listening! A book would have been icing on the cake, so to speak 😁 I’m now off to find somewhere to store my outer box where the wife won’t look 😂 Mike (wannabe Steve)
The only downside I found, when I came to play them the centre holes seemed to small, so struggled getting them on and off the spindle, causing a bit of damage with the lamination around the spindle hole 😔
That’s a shame, I didn’t seem to have that problem. I guess it down to the turntable make, not sure. Has all the vinyl got the same issue? Depending on who you purchased from, could you try a replacement? Mike
For me, Sabbath is Ozzy. But of course love Dio too.

I’m so new to this album only time will tell .. but I’m happy to have this set and will definitely be playing both mixes on a regular basis… the old mix is definitely not been made redundant in my book and to my ears ..
I’m still lusting over that Hand of doom set … so so nice ..
