I love the redeemer, especially the engines, because it really feels unique. Too many ships look like generic Sci fi spaceships and don't feel star citizeny to me.
Hey BN, keep up the good work. I am in a group of work buddies who all have a deemer, where it is exceptional is in a group doing ERTs with someone in a cargo ship looting the targets. You can make a ton of aUEC that way-- A ballistic /distortion/ laser repeater mix build lets you burn down a hammerhead in a surprisingly short time. Keep up the videos!
CIGs balancing has always been just awful. The Redeemer is a lightly armored dedicated gun ship meaning it should be very maneuverable for its size but CIG thinks they need to make it one of the worst maneuverable ships in game. At times it will literally take 2 seconds to start to respawn to stick inputs. For some reason CIG thinks an Arrow should be able to take on any ship because they fear the phrase 'pay to win'. I guess in CIGs world a Honda should match a Porch in a race.
I think true balance will fix this. I don't think we're there yet and we won't be there until the game enters beta. A well piloted Arrow should be able to beat a poorly piloted Redeemer but not easily and not in any short time frame. It should take significant effort and training. I've seen top-tier pilots do it over the course of like 20 mins... Thats what they need for balance. You are 100% right about the maneuverability though it needs to be better or they need to make it faster. One or the other.
I've melted this ship...twice. it's like buying a Chevrolet corvette. It sounds nice, seems powerful and like it could hang with the best supercars...until you actually own one and find out it doesn't. The redeemer is only really good when crewed. But up against a corsair will lose almost every time, fully crewed or single. It also doesn't have the cargo and other features. I love the rating and the insight you provided. It's just not a great ship for playing the game. Your opinion here is SPOT ON.
Thanks for your video. I've never had a soft spot for the Redeemer tbh. Great pilot firepower, size 3s, fuel range, armor to come etc. No complaints there.I just find it oddly claustophobic, and I say 'oddly' because I mained a Retaliator for the last 6 months of 2021 and will definitely re-buy one before launch. A Connie Andromeda is much more up my street, and $ for $ makes more sense to me. . Definitely a ship which i'd purchase in-game, but even then it's in about 50th place on my wishlist. I give it an 8 for combat, but as a overall package?...7.5\10. Anyhow, good job and an easy sub - i'll check out your other videos later.
Keep going, my guy. You have solid editing skills. You're also easy to listen to, but don't go crazy uploading twice a day. Don't burn out before you get noticed.
Thank you so much for the support! The one video per day thing works for now because of how my job works. But I promise it will slow down when it gets too crazy!
I would argue the redeemer crew requirements is 3 for pve or 4 for pvp Pve all you need is the 2 main turrets manned, pilot can assist using missiles, his s4 hardpoints, and the front remote turret is pilot controllable. Pvp you need the 2 main turrets and the tail gun bc the redeemer has a bad blindspot without the tail gun. If you are looking to make money, you can do 90% of pve missions with just 1 gunner, you really only need the 2nd main turret when fighting multiple hammerheads or an Idris. against a single hammerhead the massive capacitor for the turrets combined with the time on target advantage from not needing to face the target or worry about your shields going down over the corsair/connie allows 1 turret + pilot to kill just about as fast as a connie/corsair.
My goto ship when in need of serious firepower in dealing with bounties. It has one of the best shield ratings in the game and takes a punishment that would obliterate most other ships. I've melted several ships but this one, alongside my Taurus and C2, is a keeper.
I keep hearing the pilot can also control the front turret by slaving it, but is that really true? If so, how?? I own this beauty but would love to get more firepower as a solo pilot. Anyone know how to slave the turret to the pilot?
Well you can't yet. Some ships automatically allow the pilot to use the copilot weapons when the copilot is not present like the super hornet. Other ships will have to wait on AI blades. The Redeemer has the chin turret that automatically slaves to the pilot but nothing else. If it isn't doing it automatically, they nerfed it.
You're right if you only care about manning the weapons. Once engineering gameplay comes online it will need more. That statement is more meant to make this review future proof for at least until engineering comes online.
@@billionaireninjas A few reasons really. Just letting you know, you asked for it lol. Rant Warning: For one, the ship just handles like a slug. The lore for the ship is that is a new, advanced, agile gunship. The unique engines are supposed to make it have amazing agility for its size. It is currently less agile than ships twice its size. Second, the layout of the weapons makes no sense. Especially in its current, sluggish state. The turrets should have the anti-fighter weaponry, with the pilot having the anti-large weapon. It only makes sense for the types of enemy each weapon is used for. Third, the ship has reduced capabilities compared to the original design. The original design could carry a decent amount of cargo and perform dropship operations. It still technically has these capabilities, but in a much reduced capacity. Almost useless. Lastly, the interior is the biggest thing. The layout makes no sense. Why would you have the habitation in the bottom of the ship? That is where the passenger seats should be. That would allow the (planned) modularity for the redeemer to replace the dropship capabilities with things like a bounty hunter module, ambulance module, etc. But, in the current implementation, the life support would be replaced instead. Don't even get me started on how the interior is just a lazy copy-paste from the vanguard, the ship that was designed to replace the redeemer, and failed at that! The original interior had such a lovely individualized layout that was replaced by copy-paste garbage. I mean, just compare the habitation areas! Basically they turned it from an agile glass-canon which could perform multiple roles, into a slow, dedicated bruiser. Perhaps if they hadn't overdone the guns and shields on it, the Redeemer could have actually performed its original purpose. The worst part: most people don't even know how much they changed it. It was just so frustrating to see the thing you had been waiting years to see in-game turn out so wrong. The community (of people who actually cared about the ship at the time) gave early feedback when these changes were announced. The response from CIG? *"You're right to feel that way, but we don't care."* (Not really, but that's how it felt :P ) The whole thing just *reaks* of *"We don't like this ship, but people bought it so we have to make it".* The ship was replaced *_twice_* (Vanguard, Valk) before they even started work on it. It was stuck in a hangar-ready state for _years._ (so long that the old model actually broke). Then, they forced it into a role where it would not be commonly used. (I mean really, how often are you going to use the Redeemer in its current state? It is a limited use wonder, as mentioned in the video.) The ship was designed, voted on, and bought by the community. As a backer who was obsessing over TNGS at the time, it is just so insufferably insulting how much they changed.
Oh I agree with just about everything you say here doesn't sound like a rant to me it sounds like a promise broken by CIG that they need to rectify. I hope that they'll give it modularity to put it back where it needs to be or at the very least give it a variant closer to it's original purpose.
Redeemer doesn't belong in the game IMO. I wasn't very happy when it won the competition. The engine nacelles are dumb. It doesn't match any aesthetics in the game. It seem to have developed some popularity because it slaps in combat.

If you crew this beast with skilled gunners it is truly unstoppable!
And a skilled pilot!
But if you crew a Corsair or any other ship it's the same situation 😅

It's my 2nd most favourite ship along with the connie, it's a beast and manned it's a juggernaut.
I love this ship
If youtube allow me, I'll like and comment each of your videos (7/130)

I never try this ship, it don’t look fun to fly
It's too bad they didn't do more ship creation contests
I think they will in the future but after SQ42 releases. I think they are in Beta 1.0 mode right now.
@@billionaireninjasman I would love to see it, even if they brought it back for land/hover vehicles.
"Needs 6 to be truly effective" bruh, you only need three people.

@@billionaireninjas that’s a fair point. I think you could pretty safely get away with four people in that case but we’ll just have to see
I remember waiting years for them to release the Redeemer. The implementation was so disappointing.
Why so?
